@Arawn93 Cinema slop? Just becuase you don't like it or can't understand it doesn't make it slop. Nintendo isn't perfect these days. They are releasing unoptimized games left and right and there's no reason for it. DF is just being objectively honest about the tech in games. I mean get a grip. Just play the freaking game.
Ah, so becuase DF is being objective it's suddenly not a good review. Got it. They're reviews aren't official reviews anyways. They review tech. People need to chill out. Just play the damn game.
@kal_el_07241 First, get your facts straight. Why are you on a Nintendo site hating on them? All physical carts work offline. I always keep my Switch 2 in airplane mode to save battery and it won't be connected for weeks sometimes. Take a break from trolling and do some research
@Serpenterror It's an emulation issue. This is the first time Digital Eclipse has been able to emulate 64 and 32 bit games. They are nowhere close to emulating PS2 era games yet. They've already answered this.
@Fiergala that's not politics. It's basic human rights. There's a difference. What's the next buzzword thst the grifters have next? Got any inside scoop??
@Dman10 people could argue fighting orcs and running around a large open world are boring in games and real life too. Anything can be fun or boring. Let's not wave away a game mechanic because we have never found it fun in a game yet.
@DennyCrane not really. More like, "politics that don't align with mine should be kept off sites like these". If it's relevant, sure. But it shouldn't ever be silenced. Politics aren't the boogeyman.
This game looked like garbage every time I saw it. It was my most "yeah that's going to be trash" game this year so far. I fully expect a studio closure being announced by fall.
With how little Mario characters speak, 99% of gamers won't even notice. It's not like they're reading 3000 lines of dialogue. I think this has more to do with internal politics than the quality of acting itself (I never noticed the change.)
@SabreLevant Not sure why you're defending them so hard. They make terrible products, which comes from the top down. They need to be boycotted and either rebooted or they need to fail and shut down. Sadly, keeping people employed to continue an awful corporate machine is just not benefiting anyone.
I remember the hate for the Switch 1 battery when it only lasted 3-5 hours. People kept comparing it to the 3DS battery. There's pretty much a mobile RTX 2050 running in this thing underclocked in handheld mode. To stick with this form factor, you have to sacrifice battery life. It's at least a three cell battery. If Nintendo keeps this form factor we won't get more than 20% battery on a new model only due to a die shrink to reduce energy consumption.
@Gatorclops Not the entire catalog. A good handful of games are completely broken. Most are getting performance improvements without updates, while many remain blurry. Nintendo chose performance over quality, which I guess is what most people want. Any quality updates would need direct patches. I foresee many older franchises never seeing these, but Nintendo updating their emulation layers in future system updates could see improvements.
I just wish we had more Switch 2 launch titles. What's there is strong, but I wanted to see more. I also like the Switch 1 upgrades, but I'm surprised there weren't any third party titles on board with day 1 upgrades. I'm guessing Nintendo is riding on backwards compatibility to see the Switch 2 through the end of the year seeing as how few first party titles are releasing this year.
The Switch 2 has a custom Ampere GPU. It's being discussed as similar to an RTX 2050 which would make it more powerful than the Series S which is similar to a GTX 1660. However, there's more to it than a 1:1 scale of a PC GPU. There's a lot of things to consider with a custom chipset. Being between a PS4 and PS5 is too large of a range.
@SpontaneousOutburst Bitter much? It's always been like this since the original GameBoy. Let's just not buy anything because something new might come out. Christ.
What were you guys expecting? It's pretty much a custom Ampere GPU inside of a handheld. I wasn't expecting good battery life. I'm never not near a wall socket so it doesn't bother me.
@Jester676 I don't think you understand how this works. You don't own the game. You still have to download it. Once the eShop servers are down (which they will be) the cards are useless. The extra steps are 1. Opening the box. 2. Inserting the cartridge. Quit defending this crap. It's a physical code in a box.
All the pro-AI art people are clowns and have never actually seen it. It's flooding all of my social media feeds, and I can't get away from it. It's awful. People who are pro-AI art are the same ones who just like the things opposite of what everyone dislikes to feel like a bunch of edgelords. It's also just morally wrong and isn't being used for good.
Good thing I have every console I need right now. The best thing to do will be to buy used. Sadly, this isn't going to stop people from buying anything. Sales will continue as is, proving that companies can raise prices, and it will stay that way. Even if tariffs go away, the prices will remain because people showed the corpos that they will bend over and take it.
@BaldB3lper78 I don't think you understand that once Nintendo is done with the Switch 2 and servers shut down (they will) these cards no longer work. You don't ever actually own the game. It's a digital game with extra steps.
@ZAHMED These are bad as once the servers shut down and they close the Switch 2 eShop these will no longer work. You don't physically own the game. Just the key.
@gardevoir7 The Wii, 3DS, and Wii U prove that you still don't own them, and they will take them away again. Physical is the only means of truly owning something forever. I'm not hating on your idea; I'm just pointing out the problem in the industry right now.
I'm sure the sales are higher. Valve hasn't put out actual numbers, but there are so many people out there with a SD. I have co-workers who are casual gamers with one too. It's got to be higher than 4 million.
@Matt_Barber And what is there to liquidate? Their little operation on Patreon did not make that much in its entire lifetime. They will be paying that for the rest of their life.
@splatoonaddict Not sure how it was horrible. It's console-like and steamlined. What's awful are the Windows based ones. Windows is not designed for consoles or handhelds at all. I have a Lenovo Legion Go and sold it and held onto my Steam Deck OLED.
@Ultimapunch There are millions out there that do. I have bought two recently that worked perfectly fine. You can say that with any retro console. If it's not taken care of, it won't work. How many NES systems out there are deemed "dead" because Nintendo didn't gold plate the cartridge slot and they corrode over time? All they need is contact cleaner and a little melamine foam.
@Duncanballs He's wrong in the sense that streaming games don't even make up a fraction of a percent of games on Switch. And to your point, I have yet to see a PS5 game with a code in a box. I see this way more often with Switch games, or part of the game is on the cart. All PS5 discs have the game on them. I've actually installed many offline. Every single one has the game data on them. However, some do require patches to be playable, which is true. I have installed my entire PS5 library and PS4 offline recently, and they all had data on them and all booted without patches.

Re: Pokémon Pokopia Is Seemingly Nintendo's First Game-Key Card Release
@kal_el_07241 so you stopped buying PC games 15 years ago? Weird flex
Re: Pokémon Pokopia Is Seemingly Nintendo's First Game-Key Card Release
@Willo567 stupidest take ever. The card will far outlast any digital storefront. There are carts 40+ years old that work just fine.

TBH, I didn't even notice. Nintendo characters speak so little and they're. Mostly grunts and shouts.

@Mariotag we don't know, obviously.

Re: Poll: Switch 2 Battery Reportedly Lasting Under Two Hours With Mario Kart - How Is Yours Holding Up?
@mr12calvin That could be addressed. It's usually something in RAM causing the drain. The Steam Deck had a similar fix
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For The Nintendo Switch 2
HDR on the display isn't good. Only 450nits. It's better than nothing, but as a display overall, is crisp and looks great for an LCD.

@SurprisedRobinChu It is also physically larger and can fit a bigger battery.
Re: Poll: Switch 2 Battery Reportedly Lasting Under Two Hours With Mario Kart - How Is Yours Holding Up?
@mr12calvin That is impossible. We might get 10-15% max. You can't double you battery life with a software update.
