Re: Valve's Steam Client Beta Adds Support For Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controllers

BinaryMessiah

@NintendoEternity The Steam Deck is far more comfortable than the Switch. Going back to the Switch cramps my hands and the analog sticks are so imprecise. I have to use my Hori pads for the Switch when in handheld mode now. The Steam Deck is here to stay. It's already outsold its Steam Machines and the demand is incredibly high. Don't talk about something you have no experience in. You've never held a Steam Deck or used one.

I own 120+ physical Switch games, so I'm not a hater, but the Steam Deck is just better built physically. Let's be honest. The Switch is just a tablet with uncomfortable controllers slapped on the side.

Re: Bright Memory: Infinite's Crysis-Like Action Stuns In Release Date Trailer

I finished this last week on PC. It's not that stunning. It's about 2 hours long and super forgettable. There's zero story and character development. 6/10. The gunplay is solid, but there are only four weapons and the upgrades are an afterthought thanks to the short length.

If you don't die much you can probably scream through it in 90 minutes to be honest.

Re: Takashi Iizuka: Sonic Frontiers Is Sonic's "Next Step For The Next 10 Years"

BinaryMessiah

Sonic went to crap when it went to 3D. Sonic Adventure is a terrible game. It may have a quirky "early-3D" feel to it, but I hated it back then and it's playable with QOL mods on PC. Some people can't see the game past rose-colored nostalgia glasses. The only good 3D Sonic I've played is Generations and Colors. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I've felt this since I was 10 years old back when the Dreamcast was alive and kicking.

I'm sure there are minor exceptions here and there, but jank camera, crappy controls, terrible combat, awful stories, recycled content, dated visuals, and glitches galore.

The 2D games aren't off the hook either. How many times do they need to be remastered or redone? Just give us a 4K version that runs at 60FPS and call it a day already.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 18th)

Getting through Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition on PC finally. I keep starting and stopping it. Have been doing that since launch day on PS4. I just reinstalled Final Fantasy XIV Online and need to still get through the base content. I just bought KOTOR II on Switch as I never played it on Xbox. I own it and never got around to it. I'm also playing Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Forces on PC with high-res texture mods and QOL improvements. Pretty solid Quake II engine shooter. Pretty long game it seems as well. 43 missions? Probably going to take a while.

Re: Rare's Banjo-Kazooie Is Rumoured To Be Making A Comeback

BinaryMessiah

@Debbiee The issue with this is that collect-a-thon games died out ages ago. It's considered an "ancient" game design method and a lot of developers abused this to pad games with filler. It's the same as how the HD era of gaming was full of crappy open-world games that were uninteresting. It would probably get crapped on after the nostalgia high went away because of its "dated" design. They would have to remake it from the ground up like Spyro or Crash I think to really win over newer gamers.

Everyone is tired of lazy HD ports. Those were nice with the Xbox 360 and PS3, but there's no excuse today. They'd have to remake it to garner good sales and reviews.

Re: Rare's Banjo-Kazooie Is Rumoured To Be Making A Comeback

BinaryMessiah

It will also come to PC most likely so you don't have to buy an Xbox. After Nuts & Bolts I doubt anyone has any faith in this game. I personally have zero faith in Rare since they were bought by Microsoft. It all started with how awful Perfect Dark Zero was and went downhill from there.

Re: Summer Game Fest And Games Conference Schedule 2022: Dates, How To Watch And Everything You Need To Know

BinaryMessiah

@JustMonika Bethesda never re-releases older games ever. I don't think it's ever going to happen. It takes a lot of time to port huge games like that and it takes a lot of money. They may not see it selling well enough. Who knows, we can be surprised tomorrow with the Bethesda conference. I'll eat my own words if they announce it. You forget that those games you mentioned were hand-tailored for the Switch. They weren't just straight ports and they were newer games.

Skyrim already had an updated engine when it was ported, and had been worked on extensively with a 64-bit engine. Also, said games run pretty poorly on Switch outside of Skyrim. Really low frame rates, playable, but far from great, and they took a serious visual hit. I know that Switch owners don't care bout this, but some do. It's just the Bethesda way.

Re: NoA President Responds To Alleged Working Conditions At Nintendo, Finds Reports "Troubling"

BinaryMessiah

My wife just got fired for standing up against management performing unsafe practices. "Disrespect to management" was their excuse. Literally, no prior issues on the job weren't taken into consideration. No private sit down. Nothing. Just fired.

That's American work life. Shut up and do what you're told or they will hire someone who will. How the jerks get into management is beyond me and the good managers always leave.

Re: Video: We Take A Look At Limited Run Games' Brand New Store

BinaryMessiah

@Rayquaza2510 What dark side? I feel this is a boogie-man impatient or broke gamers came up with. It's like a Kickstarter. They aren't EA who can produce 2 million units and have hundreds of different stores by them up and make a profit whether they sell or not.

There are also figure companies that do this. First4Figures production runs can take over a year. They have to use the money from the pre-orders to make the products. JUST THOSE. That's it. The products are then molded, cast, and hand painted in China then shipped elsewhere. There's also a line for these things too. Many companies use these plants in China.

Re: Video: We Take A Look At Limited Run Games' Brand New Store

BinaryMessiah

@Freek I feel the impatient or broke people rag on LRG. Their collector's editions are incredibly unique and cool. They warn you ahead of time that production can take 6+months. If I'm super desperate to play the game I'll buy the digital version while I'm waiting. Clearly with how big they are the complainers are not the majority.

Re: Video: We Take A Look At Limited Run Games' Brand New Store

BinaryMessiah

I LOVE LRG. I have many pre-orders even pending now and the wait is worth it. The money you spend goes into the actual production like a Kickstarter and these are done in small quantities. It's not that hard to comprehend. They are a small company. If they produced stuff en masse and just had it sitting around there's no telling how it would sell and they would go bankrupt. People rag on LRG, but there are plenty of others who do this. Super Rare Games, Strictly Limited Games and many more. Once the pre-order window is over the money gets used to produce that exact amount of copies. They don't benefit AT ALL from scalpers or limiting their games to small windows. They get no profit from that.

Re: Review In Progress: Nintendo Switch Sports - Familiar Fun With Friends, But Little More

BinaryMessiah

Wii Sports was a product of its time. It was a pack in title, motion controls were brand new, and it was a way to ease players into what they can expect from the Wii. It just doesn't do that for the Switch. Motion controls are old, the Wii's hardware limitations also allowed for Wii Sports to be so limiting, but there's no excuse on the Switch. The charm just doesn't work here. This will be a great budget title. I'd pay maybe $30 for it.
