Re: Nintendo Scores Another Victory In Its War Against Switch Piracy

AnnoyingFrenzy

@COVIDberry Sorry I should have specified, the list of 4 games wasn't for Nintendo and their subsidiaries, just Nintendo EPD. So its Nintendo EPD working on 3 games if we use your weighing system. Don't you all get me wrong though, I too am unsatisfied with not only how Nintendo neglects its catalog of IPs, but also Sega, Microsoft, Sony, Konami etc., etc. That said, I find myself thankful for this lull in big Nintendo games as its allowed me to try titles I may otherwise never have.

Re: Nintendo Scores Another Victory In Its War Against Switch Piracy

@Mr-Fuggles777 Currently it's listed that their upcoming projects are Miitopia, BoTW 2, Splatoon 3, and Skyward Sword HD. I imagine they have more games unannounced in development in the background, but more and more series are being developed by their subsidiaries these days since the merger of their internal development studios. But really, this has very little, if anything, to do with their legal team, Nintendo is constantly in court every generation, this is nothing new. And this isn't a defense by the way, not in the way you were implying it anyway. These are the facts I am presenting. My intent in this conversation is simply to inform, whether that be through general information or noting that someone's complaints are misdirected.

Re: Nintendo Scores Another Victory In Its War Against Switch Piracy

@Mr-Fuggles777 Ah, going to the extreme already I see. You asked a question, I gave the answer. You asked another question, I again gave the answer. You then proceeded to claim that Nintendo striking down a hacker was impacting their game development, I provided a counterpoint as to why this probably isn't the case. At this point, you may notice no defending was done, merely pointing out a logical fallacy in your argument.

Re: Nintendo Scores Another Victory In Its War Against Switch Piracy

@Mr-Fuggles777 I only counted Monolith, Next-Level, NDcube, Sora ltd, Intelligent Systems as well as Game Freak pokemon games that were exclusive to the Switch (technically Retro is a subsidiary, but I already knocked off Tropical Freeze, their only game). How many original games has Nintendo EPD developed (ie, not including ports or enhanced rereleases)? Including one's where they co-developed with another studio (of which there were two games), then that would be 9 since April 18, 2018. 10 if you include Jump-Rope Challenge.

Re: Nintendo Scores Another Victory In Its War Against Switch Piracy

AnnoyingFrenzy

@Mr-Fuggles777 By my count Nintendo and its subsidiaries have developed 21 games since April 2018. That does not include ports of Wii U games (Tropical Freeze), enhanced ports (Super Mario 3D World), exclusive games published by Nintendo but not developed (Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3) or eshop exclusive games (Jump Rope Challenge). So that's about 7 original physical games a year.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo And The Industry Needs To Get Serious About Game Preservation

AnnoyingFrenzy

Nintendo is actually pretty darn good at preservation. Remember that Giga leak where it turned out Nintendo kept the sprite work for the Super Mario World prototype? I wouldn't doubt they have the source code for every game they ever made in storage somewhere. They just refuse to let anyone else see it! An example of a company that is terrible at preservation would be Konami, who apparently couldn't be asked to keep the source code for their mainline Silent Hill games. All jokes aside, Nintendo is anti-consumer in many ways, stretching back to their NES days even, that lack of game availability from them is honestly lower down on my list of things I'd like to see them start practicing. Would I like to see them put Virtual Console on Switch so I can play Golden Sun or Path of Radiance? Absolutely, but I'd like to see them fix the joy-con designs and improve their current online infrastructure more. In the meantime, we've got emulation, not a practice I'd like to support, but there are few other options available.

Re: Demo For Stunning Fan-Made 2D Metroid Prime Game Released

AnnoyingFrenzy

As a MASSIVE fan of the Prime Trilogy and someone who prefers the 3D games to the 2D ones, I had to try it out and... it's so darn good you guys. It was fun seeing one of my favorite games in a new style. It only goes up to the Hive Mecha boss fight and cuts out the frigate Orpheon all together, but the sprite work is simply phenomenal. They were also pretty clever with how they translated some of the 3D elements of Prime 1 into 2D. There are also a few surprises for Prime veterans in there. It has a lot of promise, it's going to be disappointing when Nintendo shoots it down. Hopefully, these developers can use their talents on official games down the line.

Re: Memory Pak: When Ace Attorney Pulled A Game Of Thrones-Level Twist

AnnoyingFrenzy

I only started playing Ace Attorney this past year when I picked up the trilogy on Switch. Amazing trilogy, loved them so much I picked up every one for the 3DS as well, including Apollo Justice and Layton vs. Wright. Amazing series, love the twists, although Mia dieing in the second mission wasn't all that surprising to me? I knew next to nothing about Ace Attorney beforehand so I didn't know she was going to get axed, but when it happened I didn't feel much. I assume its because I wasn't really invested in her character, she just wasn't interesting enough for me to care about her. That said, there were plenty of moments in the first game, let alone the series, that got me good. Ranking them right now, I would say

Re: We Might See A Female Slayer In A Future DOOM Game

AnnoyingFrenzy

One of the cool things about Doom and Doom 2016 is that any lore or character background could be literally ignored in favor of constant demon genocide. Doom Eternal went more direct with its story than 2016 which put me off a little, but those were still in between great demon-slaying action. If they went a female slayer route my only concern is that it would get too heavy-handed in politics and it would get in the way of the gameplay. Not saying they can't or shouldn't do a game like that, but it's just not what I play Doom for. If they go that route, I personally hope that they would just make her like Samus, a galaxy-saving action hero that just happens to also be a woman. After all, it's not like it matters that much who exactly is doing the slaying.
