I personally would gladly pay $60 for Metroid. I would also have gladly payed $60 for either Ori game. I don't view Dread as me getting ripped off, I view the Ori games as a me getting a steal.
@Deepdoop Well, I'll start by saying that it's nothing the game really does wrong. It's a well made game and I can see why so many people liked its twist, but in truth its the twist that disappointed me. Like most people I imagine, I went into the game knowing nothing (in truth I didn't even know it was a viral game, a friend of mine just told me try it out, if it wasn't for that, and the psychological horror tag I probably would have never played it). What I found upon playing was what at first looks like a normal dating sim, but I then learned that each girl has a "dark secret" for lack of a batter term. One suffered from depression, another alluded to parental abuse, and another was masochistic iirc. Basically, these were interesting characters that I wanted to learn more about and maybe even help them with their situation. Props to the character writer for writing interesting characters. Well... mostly interesting characters. One of the characters was kinda bland, maybe intentially so. So perhaps now you can imagine why halfway through the game when it shifts its focus entirely on that one character it left me disappointed (the 4th wall breaks were genius though). So its an interesting case where I came up with the game I thought it would be as I was playing that is more interesting to me than the game it ended up being. So its an entirely me thing.
TL/DR: The twist shifting the focus of the game away from the three interesting characters I wanted to learn more about entirely on the one character I couldn't care less about (even after the endings) is what disappointed me.
@GrayFox666 Indeed. Got Ace Attorney trilogy (Pre-ordered chronicles) and both famicom detective club games to name the more popular ones. Loved all of them.
This does make me realize there is a real lack of American Football games on Switch though. In general, really, Madden is the only one that comes to mind, and from what I hear that's gone downhill hard.
I still really wish we got a game that looked like this. TP Link is my favorite Link design by far so seeing him look like this was jaw dropping back when I first saw it. I also know it doesn't age as well, but I also prefer OoT/MM and TP artstyles to WW, SS, and BoTW. Those games still look AMAZING mind you, but I also still think TP on GameCube looks great as well so maybe I'm just insane.
I seemingly replay Luigis Mansion, the Prime Trilogy, both Banjo Kazooie's, at least of the Professor Laytons, Portal and one of the Zelda games annually.
Higher rated than Breath of the Wild? It got a 97, so it's difficult, but can be done, 21 games have tied or beaten that score. Higher rated than Ocarina of Time though? It has a 99. so nearly impossible. You need a minimum of 7 reviews to be put on the all-time list on Metacritic, this game currently has 6. It's up to NintendoLife next week to decide its fate.
I've never been a fan of the Dragon Quest or Dragon Ball art styles. I like anime art styles, just not his. I do admit that the North American version is not the best, but I still vastly prefer it to Japan's.
Honestly not as bad as gating an entire difficulty behind an amiibo in Samus Returns. Still not great though. That said I am midly upset that just how many more people are throwing hands about this than the Samus Returns one, just goes to show how much more popular Zelda is than Metroid.
Controversy aside, even if this was standard in game, my first thought when I saw this was "wow, that's useless."
I see your arguments, and I can't say your wrong. However, to me, in terms of quantity and quality of game releases, I'd say the golden age was GameCube, PS2 to early Xbox 360 era. All 3 companies were pumping out high quality experiences with no sign of the issues plaguing current AAA games.
Both games are great and have earned great sales. To argue one is more deserving than the other (or that RE8 is a "threat") is a little weird to me, as they are going for two VERY different audiences. I mean, a person that isn't into B-movie "horror" but is into calm sightseeing tours would probably say Snap is the better game and therefore "deserves" more sales.
I'd be very surprised if this ever gets localized in the west. The game is very Japanese, would undoubtedly crash and burn in the west. Might not even make its localization money back. From what I understand, its a train simulation board game? Already extremely niche, but the artstyle is going to put off most western people who would be interested most likely. The artstyle simply doesn't appeal to western audiences like it does to the Japanese.
Huh, I've personally never had trouble finding pokemon cards. Granted I never buy them, it's not my scene, but there are always plenty on the shelves by the check-out line at my local Walmart.
And the news would have you believe that Nintendo has just been sitting on a port since 2018. Along with Star Fox Grand Prix from Retro, and Atlus has Persona 5 for Switch ready to go, and Miyamoto is cooking something that smells like Pikmin 4.
@NintendoJunkie Thats a good point. I guess they'd use Zero Suit Samus then? Her design would translate easier into Fortnite. That said, not the best choice for a rep since ZSS is barely in most Metroid games.
I don't care about Samus being in Fortnite or not, I care about Epic using fanart that has her gun on the wrong hand in their official documentation. Isn't a good sign.
I'm not going to name any names, but we are in the presence of an Olympic athlete in this comment section. The gymnastics they are able to do and the hurdles they can jump over are gold medal-worthy.
I picked the perfect time to get into Ace Attorney, started with the Trilogy on Switch last summer and have now played all the games sans Miles Edgeworth which they refuse to re-release or port to the west and I am not salty about that not at all why would you think that.
@COVIDberry Sorry I should have specified, the list of 4 games wasn't for Nintendo and their subsidiaries, just Nintendo EPD. So its Nintendo EPD working on 3 games if we use your weighing system. Don't you all get me wrong though, I too am unsatisfied with not only how Nintendo neglects its catalog of IPs, but also Sega, Microsoft, Sony, Konami etc., etc. That said, I find myself thankful for this lull in big Nintendo games as its allowed me to try titles I may otherwise never have.
@Mr-Fuggles777 Currently it's listed that their upcoming projects are Miitopia, BoTW 2, Splatoon 3, and Skyward Sword HD. I imagine they have more games unannounced in development in the background, but more and more series are being developed by their subsidiaries these days since the merger of their internal development studios. But really, this has very little, if anything, to do with their legal team, Nintendo is constantly in court every generation, this is nothing new. And this isn't a defense by the way, not in the way you were implying it anyway. These are the facts I am presenting. My intent in this conversation is simply to inform, whether that be through general information or noting that someone's complaints are misdirected.
@Mr-Fuggles777 Ah, going to the extreme already I see. You asked a question, I gave the answer. You asked another question, I again gave the answer. You then proceeded to claim that Nintendo striking down a hacker was impacting their game development, I provided a counterpoint as to why this probably isn't the case. At this point, you may notice no defending was done, merely pointing out a logical fallacy in your argument.
@Mr-Fuggles777 I only counted Monolith, Next-Level, NDcube, Sora ltd, Intelligent Systems as well as Game Freak pokemon games that were exclusive to the Switch (technically Retro is a subsidiary, but I already knocked off Tropical Freeze, their only game). How many original games has Nintendo EPD developed (ie, not including ports or enhanced rereleases)? Including one's where they co-developed with another studio (of which there were two games), then that would be 9 since April 18, 2018. 10 if you include Jump-Rope Challenge.
@Mr-Fuggles777 By my count Nintendo and its subsidiaries have developed 21 games since April 2018. That does not include ports of Wii U games (Tropical Freeze), enhanced ports (Super Mario 3D World), exclusive games published by Nintendo but not developed (Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3) or eshop exclusive games (Jump Rope Challenge). So that's about 7 original physical games a year.

Re: Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! Arrives Later This Month On Switch
@Deepdoop I don't really care about pure dating sims, so the psychological horror was more a plus rather than a drawback.
Re: Metroid Prime 4 Was First Announced Four Years Ago Today
I think at best we'll see a teaser with no release date.

Re: GameStop Seems To Be Giving Out Free Legend Of Zelda Anniversary Posters
This just made me realize how much I prefer Link's traditional outfit to his Champion's outfit in BoTW.
Re: Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! Arrives Later This Month On Switch
I bet I'm the only person that got really disappointed by the direction the game took and ended up disliking the game because of it.
Re: Superman Has A Gun In Fortnite's New Alien-Themed Season
I highly doubt Samus is ever coming to fortnite. I wouldn't hold my breath for it at E3.

Not gonna lie, an open world Sonic just sounds bad. Prove me wrong Sega.

Playing through Missing Heir right now, loving it so far!
Re: Yes, Link's Improved "Fast Travel" In Skyward Sword HD Really Does Seem To Be Locked Behind An amiibo
@sixrings @nessisonett Those are fair points. It is harder to compare a late stage 3DS game to a mid-life Switch game when it comes to visibility.
