Excuse me, I have a little hot take here.
I'd take Halo over either DOOM or Fortnite any day into Smash for western shooter representation any day, but given we're talking about music... imagine if Fortnite got in.
I just wanted to share the mental image (well, mental sound at least) of THIS remixed by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi.
I'm still giddy about the fact that, after Sony snatched console exclusivity for Fall Guys - "the one everyone was playing" - Among Us first flat-out murdered the numbers reached by its userbase, and then Nintendo went for the kill and got that on the Switch.
@Dr_Lugae
Precisely. It could be either "Bowser's Fury" in the sense we're playing as Bowser, or "Bowser's Fury" as in we're getting an editor to make hard levels, so we're "playing Bowser's own fury incarnate".
Now, with those wild expectations in mind, the most likely option is the third: it's actually just those hard levels, made by Nintendo and not us. Kind of a bummer, until you consider this can be shoved in the middle of the next Nintendo Direct between the big opening announcement and the final megaton. Its main purpose, hype-wise, was to be a mysterious thing in the thirty-fifth Anniversary Direct and nothing more.
This secrecy for a port is the exact reason I'm focusing my attention elsewhere.
First Bugsnax, now Bowser's Fury. This trend is worryingly increasing lately, considering both Octodad's studio and Nintendo likely took the idea from the one-off "GABBO! GABBO! GABBO!" gag ad seen in the Simpsons episode Krusty Gets Cancelled.
Rest in peace, Brian. I've actually taken up game journalism thanks to the reporting Nintendo sites have kept me up to speed with. It's not like one of such stars has faded, but it's definitely shining far less bright today. Domo arigatou for everything, Japanese Nintendo.
Here, Virtuos, in case you want a "challenge". I'm only sarcastic with Square-Enix, which has deemed the HD Remixes a challenge in the first place; I'm sure Virtuos would nail it.
@Northwind I've given Spellbreak a whirl, but it hasn't clicked for me yet. It's stuck to the same pre-"reboot truck" early phase that made Fortnite a nightmare to play in team matches (which the 2020 Midas' Revenge event was a grim reminder of). Add to that the fact that once your spirit orb is grabbed by an opponent you're pretty much dead meat, and you get Fortnite 2.0 - and not in a good way. Let's just say that if restarting a match was short and sweet, Fortnite wouldn't even get half the hate it gets today.
And all it took was Doug Bowser gleefully confirming that Mario will more or less die next spring! The more anti-consumer you are, the happier the stock matter is, it seems!
Finally, finally a sale that starts right after my old man gets his (well, our) Christmas bonus instead of right before the monthly paycheck. I'll bite as soon as it goes live.
Nothing but good news from Nintendo today, right guys? Man, that one Youtube comment nailed it: "Sakurai's back must be in great pain after carrying Nintendo this hard".
@PBandSmelly
"Lie about the frequent updates, I'm mad. Update twice or thrice a year, how could you? Add in Nightshade, you're officially that guy, you know--y'know the one. He opens an investors' meeting and he's like, 'we'll broad'n da appeeeeeal, wit' da understanding it will be measured'n yeeears', F@#K YOU!
[dramatic pause] I AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIN'T HAVIN' DAAAAAT 5#IT!"
@John_Deacon Eeyup. Super Mario 3D World is indeed an underappreciated, underestimated and misunderstood masterpiece, but at least some info on Bowser's Fury would be more than welcome. There's plenty of good examples to follow outside Nintendo; Bugsnax's "marketing campaign" is not one of them.
Honestly, I was hoping for Sora (unless he's in the cards as a Mii costume). But Sephiroth is still one of the most iconic villains in all of gaming, so I can't really complain.
If Geno got in, KH fans would get the shaft, but if Sora got in... yeah. Taking a third option was the right call.
@Kimyonaakuma I dunno, even as a die-hard Nintendo fan I'd consider Link or Samus good trade-offs for this. Maybe Zero Suit Samus, she'd fit the Fortnite aestethic more than her armoured counterpart. Or Link. Tommy gun-toting Link is an absolute yes in my book.
Dear Panic Button, would you mind an "impossible" port deemed as such by the IP's owner? I know you're into challenges. Sincerely, the oft-forgotten Nintendo side of the KH fandom
Sony and Microsoft should fear the Switch newcomers. Not those who just want a platform for Christmas, but those who "come for the" system and "stay for the" good content we have.
@COVIDberry You just told me "you're welcome and thank you", but I don't quite grasp what you're thanking me for. Anyway, my fear stems from integrating SNK into a program meant to get past the oil-centric economy the Middle East is (in)famous for. I'm not saying all values associated with middle-eastern culture are inherently "wrong", per se; I'm fearing for how it could, you know, kind of "overwrite" any and all content in SNK's past catalogue. All Metal Slug games past the first one are still on my wishlist; I'm planning to snag 'em all before a discount out of genuine fear to not find them anymore sooner or later.
@Bobb That's the joke. I fear we're going to get much more mysogyny, provided we even get classic SNK content at all. Unless, you know, the prince just earns money from the games and things keep normal, but I'm really wary.
@ucrew "Phobia" is not meant to be taken literally, you doofus. As a suffix, it means aggressive fear, e.g. "strike them before they do". It means discrimination. It means regress, it means setting society a few centuries back. I know a few gay people, and they're wonderful people. You don't necessarily have to picture all the gross stuff going on under the sheets. If you do, that's on you.
@ucrew I don't know what's more alarming, if it's homophobia at this very point in time or the fact it managed to snag even just one like. Over-the-top political correctness is one thing, reverting back to 1800 is quite another.
Well, after even Final Fantasy of all things released its PlayStation incarnations before Resident Evil did, I say we kind of deserve something special.
@nessisonett One fan once asked Liefeld to draw a pouch. Liefeld, ever the self-aware one, obliged.
@Bobb Not really. He had to draw Mickey, Donald and Goofy first. Additionally, Japanese artists have some kind of a gift. Chris Kohler once talked about a "culture of the images"; it shows.
