Tons of AAA/Indies prove you do not always need to care about casual players. They are not out playing Nioh2 or TLOU or 100 reloads in Disco Elysium - and that is fine.
They can go play RingFit or animal crossing or Clubhouse 51.
Last thing I need is a cartoony water down Metroid to keep casual players involved.
Another example of nonexistent 3rd party support on Switch.
Every other platform is swimming in big new AAA games. Even the garbage failure that is Stadia getting more support than Switch ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Care about AC Valhalla - that if it plays and looks like Odyssey is already 10X better than playing archaic AC3 on Switch. And a new FarCry. Having both sure beats having Nothing.
TLOU2 is the only game there not a cartoon ๐คฆโโ๏ธ it basically took a Western studio to bring something "Different" (both visual and content) to the Japanese chart ๐
Another port failure with Catherine: Full Body on Switch. Also called it (was called a troll)... and again, most did not care for an overpriced old port.
Make something New on Switch. Hoping Pro Yakyuu 2020 does well for Bandai Namco. The Mrs, like Clubhouse Games: 51. That is a win.
Looking forward for the New Ys NOX on Switch. They giving old and new stuff, so everyone who is a Ys fan on Switch is getting something. Nicely done ๐
Looks nice, but clips ere actually top heavy - makes your wrist hurt. Also on the train it sticks out, so you always pulling it in thinking people will bump it.
Had same design for Xcloud, RainWay and Steam Link.
The telescopic ones (ends up like a Switch/VITA) are a lot better for Xcloud/Geforce NOW/Shadow (Any Android BT controller works) or just using SteamLink when the main TV is busy. They also cheaper.
@monterxz I care more about having access to the games.
If July was reversed - and I could play F12020 and Ghost of Tsushima "everywhere" and Paper Mario Origami King "only at home". It would make no difference to me. As long as I get to play them.
I played the new XCOM: Chimera Squad on PC for $19. Skipped playing yet another port of XCOM2 for $50. Do that a few times and anyone with a Switch can afford a 2nd system.
But yes, for anyone who cares more about "where they play" than "what they play"... they stuck. But that has nothing to do with "what they can afford". They paying more in the long run.
So, this is the same as Ninokuni and AC3. Remastered everywhere but Switch. But at the same price.
Always readings how some canโt afford another console (so stuck with whatever laziness publishers make on Switch) Honestly, By paying top dollar for All the ancient Ports on Switch. Same games that have been either Free or dirt cheap everywhere else. You Basically end up spending more than buying a 2nd console in the long run.
@nhSnork The thing is, in some political circles. It is about "marketing" and how they target kids with these "gotcha" mechanics. I was making a distinction between "microtransaction" and the perceived issue with loot boxes. They should not be lumped into one (The argument that they are the same as gambling is something I also find can be debatable)
I agree with everything else there - especially everything after
"And none of this is rocket science that can't be explained to a kid"
And you think the UK retailer is going to agree to do that for free? The retailer needs to get payed.
And not "all backers" had this issue. So you talking for them to organize this per country. Nobody will do that.
Anyone who backed the Kickstarter was to back the game. I could have gotten Shenmue 3 for $5 when it hit retail. That has nothing to do with my pledge.
I got a yellow card saying I needed to pay duty fees instead of my package. Went to the PostOffice. Talked to them and at the end they let me have it.
None of that is on the DataDisc FAQ for it. How would they know? This is not "Kickstarter" it is anything you importing from another country you run the risk of getting stop at customs.
@nhSnork You can aim a Game or a "microtransaction" to kids.
Making a Kid want a pair of digital shoes in a game or a real one from a toy store as an accessory for a doll the already own (digital or real) is not illegal
The issue (so they claim) is the BOX with a random give. Where it is a "chance" you get the shoes. There it is not a store that sells toy shoes, but a Slot machine that "jack-pot" are the toy shoes.
A digital store that you see what you are getting is 100% legal.

Re: Nintendo Download: 16th July (North America)
Paper Mario for me.
But on my GameFly list, so even if by luck I get picked to ship tomorrow (๐ค) not seeing it till end of next week probably.

@DrDaisy
Re: Feature: Best Switch Ports - The Most Impressive Ports On Nintendo Switch
@Wavey84 In some cases you get that "better version" for Free or dirt cheap on PC.
Re: Feature: Best Switch Ports - The Most Impressive Ports On Nintendo Switch
Made the math. That is $481 dollars I saved by skipping re-buying old games on Switch (not including sales tax!)
And this list is missing tons of expensive rehash I have on PC (or closet) Xcom2, Witcher, Mirage FE, Xenoblade, Metro.
Next Gen is payed for - hell, could even be enough for a 3080 ๐ค
Re: Series Producer Suggests Metroid Prime 4 'Won't Ignore Casual Players'
@-Green- And that is great. I have had an exercise bike since college. That is what works for me.
Someone can workout with RingFit and then play Clubhouse 51 on the bus. I can ride my Standing Bike and play Metroid on the bus.
Something for everyone.
Re: Japanese Charts: Animal Crossing Loses Top Spot To eBaseball Powerful Pro 2020
Wow, great for Powerful Pro 2020 - it really needs to come West. I'll take even the old one ๐
Finally, some change to the monotony. If Ghost makes it in, we might even get something not cartoon graphics. Little steps Japan, little steps.
Re: Video: New Trailer Shows More Of Paper Mario: The Origami King's Gorgeous World
It looks fantastic. Paper world and Origami theme are great.

Re: Review: CrossCode - The Zelda-Like RPG You Never Knew You Wanted
Downloaded it on PC Game Pass. Only played it for a bit.
Maybe circle back.
Re: The Remaster Of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Won't Support Local Multiplayer
Rather play Wasteland 3, Captain Tsubasa, Madden or Project Cars 3 in August before yet another rehash port anyway.
First concern should be they actually spend time optimizing the main game before release. Publishers barely doing the basic stuff with these ports.
Re: Review: Paper Mario: The Origami King - A Puzzling Battle System Can't Kill This Funny Adventure
That battle system is really not for me. Still think the world looks cool. And the Origami concept also. So I still want to check it out.
I'll move it to the GameFly list. I'll play it whenever they ship it.
Re: Dark Open-World RPG Vampireโs Fall: Origins Launches On Switch This Autumn
It is a Free to Play Mobile game. Can just download and try it out.

At ยฃ26 for a Remaster not going to knock it.
I mean, with all the new games in July - not wasting time on this. But at least they know to price it as a budget game. Hopefully it actually runs ok.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Deadly Premonition 2 On Switch

No idea why I would spend any money (or time) on this with F12020, Ghost of Tsushima and Paper Mario all out in the same month.

๐ Loving F1 2020 ๐ glad it did well (๐Great F1 race yesterday made me want to play more) It is also only $36 on PC
Deadly Premonition 2 at nowhere land #32. Most did not buy the "Broken game is charming" nonsense. Shocking!
By next Weekend I'll have F12020, Ghost of Tsushima and Paper Mario. Now that is a gaming weekend ๐๐

Yeah, super excited for F1 (loved F1 2019) CodeMaster has done a great job for the F1 fans.
After TLOU2, I want something not stressful also. And Paper Mario is perfect.
I was actually leaving Ghost for next month. But after the last gameplay reveal, I broke down. Doing Black and White first run ๐

Already at 57 metacritic. Just save the cash and use it to buy Pizza and binge a quaky British show.
Tons of "charm"
Re: There Are Reportedly "No Plans" To Fix Deadly Premonition 2's Awful Frame Rate
You know you hit bottom when "zero optimization" is labeled as "Charm" in a $50 game.
With F12020, Paper Mario and Ghost of Tsushima out next 2 week - spending my money (or time) on this was never an option anyway.

@carlos82 Yeah and the mechanism of telling a large chunk of it (the photo Easter egg hunt) is not that complicated to place in the game design.

Re: PlatinumGames Addresses Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Custom Fees, And Backers Aren't Happy
@RazumikhinPG It is not the shipping cost.
GAME is not going to have a bulk shipment show up to their warehouse and have their paid staff do any work for Platinum for free.
It is more logical that you would expect UK duty fees on something you are importing - than all that happening for a Kickstarter pledge.

Paper Mario for me.

Re: Guide: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For July And August 2020
The 5 month Switch drought ends with Paper Mario for me.
Wait for reviews on Fairy Tail for Switch. Big fan of the Anime, so if they butchered the graphics to much on Switch, I'll move it to PC.
Indies and 2nd tier stuff like CrossCode I now just check out on PC Game Pass for 5 bucks.
