"I was thinking about using xCloud for some missing third party games"
Yeah, that is what I use it most for - not really a Switch substitute. It fills the gaps on the Switch schedule. I rather have dedicated handheld games... but 10X better than nothing.
Have you checked if GeForce NOW is where you live? They have a Free test version also. It has no games, you buy them on Steam. But you keep them as PC games (and your saves via Steam cloud) forever.
"It would be so convenient if xCloud or Stadia had a Switch app"
I am not big on Stadia, because they keep your games and Saves. But 100% on the idea in general.
I mean the games I am streaming are not on Switch. Not like they loosing sales 🤷♂️. And It will for sure help sell hardware, that can sell more Nintendo games.
@JimmySpades Nobody should be expecting "proper optimization" why having hardware with overhead at the start is so important.
Well, even worse is have the base game not run at all and just being skipped altogether. There is no hope for even a patch like now.
Already dynamic resolution to 520p @24fps to make some games run. Wonder if Come a point where the screen will not even be rated for the resolution and just display solid black input.
@scully1888 Hmm. Was intended to be more general, just using a sample point made in the review (ill check/edit). Not sure if I read that review. If based on how the mechanics affect the game - or do not - goes to my point. You Judged it based on the impact on the game. Not just because it has it.
@Mando44646 Why carpet bombing "microtransactions" is illogical.
I have no problems with someone buying (in any mechanic, nobody needs to buy a loot box) a gold viewfinder for their riffle in BF or a USA trucker cap in Division 2 or a new 1975 Livery in F1 2019 (they all 100% cosmetic or can get in-game) but I understand people getting upset that WarFace lets you buy a top end Gold Weapon pack on day 1. It can be a loot box or not - that microtransactions impacts every other player.
What is the impact on the game is the key factor in if a Microtransaction is awful or not. We need to see them individually.
I think in general this statement sums it up nicely (mechanics used in general)
"Mechanics aside, this is a generally pleasantly little game"
Welcome to the Mobile invasion on Switch. This is 100% a Mobile game first.
"As for the inevitable microtransactions... You don’t have to buy them"
That is true for tons of game people blindly complain about having them on games from other publishers also. This point needs to be Universal to any game it applies, not just when convenient to base A or B. If you can ignore it, do so and let it be.
@westman98 I expect a multi million dollar company to walk and chew gum at the same time. Also making more Switch is Foxcom's problem. Not like Nintendo is running factories.
That was more about the situation on the ground. People either could not go get AC or could not find a copy if they tried. We have more than 3 years of data that shows Nintendo is nowhere near 50% digital on their games when everything works how it should.
@TheFullAndy Oh for sure. I was pointing out that to a large chunk of players getting it digital is not their preferred way of buying it.
And It is fine to be surprised about initial demand. It is also fine to notice others have figured out how to stay out of a hole -during or after a successful launch - and still make tons of cash. Nintendo can improve on this.
@westman98 No way they can still be surprised by this. They should have demand 4 weeks out at this point. And they making a packaged game not a Tesla.
And having them do a better job at understanding demand is not claiming a "conspiracy" - it is what most publishers manage to figure out in most territories on multiple platforms.
@TheFullAndy It has been 9 months. You are not "surprised" in 3 quarters. Especially when orders from the warehouse are months in advance. Out of the top 10 best selling games in 2020 in the US the only one with stock issue is Animal Crossing.
EA will probably never change their ways on how they stay profitable either. Does not stop people from pointing out what they can do to improve.
"and digital is always an option"
Digital sales were 34% of Nintendo's total sales in FY20. So again, Nintendo knows that is not what their base wants.
@TheFullAndy RingFit for all the "Sell Out", has sold 2.7Millon total in 9 months. It is a plastic ring made in China. They can even make more full blown Switch in a quarter than that.
Tons of Publishers are profitable, successful and sustainable also. And keep their games in Stock (with multiple platforms at the same time)
Not sure how Nintendo can be surprised of anything at this point. If you have an average of 85% of game sales on Switch are 1st party - you know a big chunk of people on Switch just waiting for you to release a game to buy something.
Love how TLOU2 sells 40% more copies than Animal Crossing at launch and is the biggest UK launch for any boxed game released this year - yet Sony can keep the game in Stock 🙄
Nintendo has been pulling this "sold out" thing for decades.
So, people did not rush out and get Burnout Paradise on Switch @ £45?... another shocking moment!. What is that, 4 failed rehash in a row?. I lost count.
Have a trip to Boston with the Mrs, "51 Worldwide Games" will 100% be played on the train 🙂
EA has been on the way up lately. Well, except on their awful effort on Switch.
This game could be an amazing opportunity to show they actually care about the Switch. Day 1 if they do not mess it up on Switch (Or I’ll just play it over Shadow if they do)
@Crono1973 Tons of series have been once of year - that is not my point. Sooner or later it just becomes obvious the team needs a break from that grind and the games/fans benefits from it.
Just release one every year to help the bottom line. Maybe both teams (well 2 for Acti) should take a year or 2 off and take the time to make something really special and fresh.
But at this point they know it will sell regardless - so doubt it will even happen. Just keep pumping them out.
At a minimum. Should do what they did for Shenmue 3 after they did time exclusive with the Epic store. People who thought they were funding it for Steam got their money back.
But coming in at the tail end. I just want it to get made. And they giving me 3 options
@JimmySpades So now we at "my PC got big new games to play so I do not need any on my Switch". You just need support for 1 and the rest can be collecting dust in the corner. 🤦♂️
Honestly - it takes less energy to just admit publishers are being lazy on Switch than making all these mental acrobatics.
How is No More Heroes 3 / Bayonetta 3 / Bravely Default 2/ ZBOTW2 / Metroid 4 coming along?
That is about it. And all at once - 1 Direct, tons of big new games.
After the PS5 reveal. No idea how more WiiU and PS3 ports cuts it anymore. Year 4! talk about big new games. I literally have more PS5 games on my list than Switch games. And that is not even out.
Microsoft games can't even sell Xbox. Not an even trade for Nintendo's 15 million plus sellers
The game changer is if Project Xcloud comes to Switch (Nintendo gives no 1st party - just access to 52 million players)
It is a solid service - I use it for Madden. And will give the Switch access to tons of 3rd party games it is missing.
Even over Tmobile, X-Cloud looks better than an awful port running at 520p on Switch. No need to depend on lazy Publishers that clearly do not care about making Nintendo look good. Xbox gets the game, Switch gets it also.
@JimmySpades If Sony announces Xcom2, Borderlands handsome collection, Metro 1/2 and Bioshock Collection on Thursday for the PS5. Tons of gamers will be complaining. And tons of articles will call it a fiasco. Nobody should try and defend that nonsense because now it is coming from Sony 🙄 I do not want news on rehashed BloodBorne or Mass Effect rehash on Thursday either. I am expecting new games.
@Quarth That is cool. I always advocate for more choices - not fewer. Do not think these should not come out - just a better mix of New/Old. I still play Borderlands 3 on PC.
Yeah, I think it is amazing. The last time she asked me anything about Videogames was when she recognized Norman Reedus when I was playing Death Standing 😅
Just happy she asked about any console or game for herself in general.
Na, most do not skip on top releases on Switch or PS4 (from any publisher) because of what Fanboys say.

Wait - you mean 3rd party overpriced ports of Bioshock, Borderlands, XCOM2 and a super Ugly late port of The Outer Worlds were basically ignored on Switch... Shocking! 🙄
Nintendo as usual does a bit better with their rehash because of name brand.
Called a "Troll" when I said all this stuff were not exciting releases worth buying. But turns out "the majority" on Switch thought the same.
Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics not for me. But getting it for my wife. Got her a Switch Lite as a surprise after she asked me about Animal Crossing 😀
@TheFullAndy Nonsense . We are not talking about games in the series that will exist 3 years in the future on another generation. These are games that are at stores and finished. The same generation the Switch is part of.
Just like it got a port of a game from 2013, it can get the one from 2019. A game that came out 15 months ago is just a different level of "old" at this point.

Re: Ori Dev Thinks It Would Be "Extremely Difficult" To Get The Sequel Running At 60fps On Switch
@Mfreddy22 It works pretty well. I played AceCombat 7 and A Plague Tale on it also.
The CrossSave feature with PC is also great. I can play Madden on the GO and then keep where I left off at Max setting when I am home on my PC
If Microsoft does full cross save support with Xcloud and Xbox Series X, it will give Sony/Nintendo a problem.
Re: Ori Dev Thinks It Would Be "Extremely Difficult" To Get The Sequel Running At 60fps On Switch
Great game. Not finished it yet, but what I did play was first class.
It also works great over Xcloud and they have it up for Free to preview testers (cross save with GamePass so you keep your save/progress).
If you do not have a PC and do not want to wait. Sign up, see if you get in. if anything, can use the service as a demo machine.

Re: Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Backers Hit With Customs Charges And Handling Fees
Got mine Digital on PC. Got it on time and works/looks great. That is the safest option on Kickstarter.
And me playing Bayo3 or Babylon's fall has nothing to do with this.

Re: Review: The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III - Falcom's Famous Series Was Worth The Wait On Switch
Great game. But not sure how exactly are people starting at #3
Not only are you missing tons of back story - you also missing out on 2 amazing games. That you will then play with spoilers from #3
That and being super late, Probably the reasons this bombed in Japan on Switch.
Anyway, Can't wait for #4. Crazy, how long I've been playing this story - again, great games.

YES!... The horse one was cool at first. But once at the stadium I was done with it.

Wait, what?... I had no idea that was there, turning this on tonight 👍

I love when the Gaming Industry art teams makes a piece of entertainment that puts the Film Industry on Notice 😎
Every single person in our Art department is playing this game. TLOU2 is Digital Arts in gaming at another level.
That said, definitely playing Paper Mario after it. I'll need a break 😅
Re: EA Intends To "Double Down" On Star Wars Video Game Development
Jedi Fallen Order is a fantastic experience. And SW Squadron has me excited to fly an Xwing with friends as my wing man. Especially in VR.
There is finally hope for SW games. A New SW Single player game like Jedi Fallen Order in 2021 would be great
Switch support for any of it would be appreciated. But not holding my breath
Re: Talking Point: Is EA's Switch Strategy Lazy, Or Simply Common Sense?
It is not Just EA. It is a lazy fest on Switch from tons of publisher.
Nintendo needs to hire someone to lead the 3rd Party Relations office that AAA studio heads actually care about. Just get Madden.
Re: NIS America Is Bringing Ys IX: Monstrum Nox To The West In 2021
@TheFrenchiestFry Na man, we still waiting on that. The NIS America official page for the trailer has.
Coming first to PS4, 2021
So people waiting for clarification - see if that is a few months or just not on the same day 🤞
Re: NIS America Is Bringing Ys IX: Monstrum Nox To The West In 2021
Awesome!... Was hoping this came to the Switch. Now this is what I am talking about!
Gave the old Ys VIII but now also give the New Ys NOX. Give both - this is how you do it
They just need to clarify how much later is the Switch release 🤔
Re: Turn-Based Strategy Game Inkulinati Secures Switch Launch With Successful Kickstarter
Awesome!... Last time I checked they had still not made it.
I was confused if we ended up with 2 PC codes with our Switch pledge if we did not make it 🙄🤔 but all good now

Switch gets skipped on Dirt 5, F12020, Project Cars3, GRID and NFS Heat.

For Racing fans (and sports fans in general) you need something other than a Switch.
Re: EA Is Bringing Seven Games To Nintendo Switch Over The Next 12 Months
Another FIFA Legacy Edition
No Mention of Jedi Fallen Order or Star Wars Squadron on Switch. They already have Madden 21 for Pre-Order and Switch is not listed.
Not sure what is left. Basically more old games incoming.
Re: Yep, The New FIFA Game For Nintendo Switch Will Be Another Legacy Edition
Embarrassing. Just kill it off.
Re: Neon-Noir Adventure Cloudpunk Is The Latest To Get A Signature Edition Switch Release
It is Death Stranding in a flying car instead of a truck - with no action parts or world antagonist like BTs. And about 1/3 the game time.
I would not pay $50 for it ($19 is worth it). And if you like it, play Death Stranding.

Pokemon is becoming like COD for Activision.

I had no idea this existed until the PS5 reveal.
If anything the Sony partnership already payed off by giving them better marketing than they ever had.
Looked great - hopefully it does make it to Switch. But not playing the Switch waiting game. PC/PS4/PS5 is good enough.
