Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for 29th June - 5th July, revealing that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is still sitting pretty at the very top of the table.
The game sold an estimated 53.506 physical copies in the region this week, comfortably distancing itself from the closest competition as it has done for the majority of its time on sale. Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics finds itself in second this time around, with Nintendo managing to secure nine of the entire top ten - including a ninth-place debut for Catherine: Full Body.
Here are the top 10 (first numbers are this week's estimated sales, followed by total sales):

It amazes me how well Ring Fit Adventure is doing!! Also, can’t wait to see the total sale figures of ACNH by the end of the year...
More doom and gloom for Nintendo.
@sikthvash How!?
The Top 3 are games for Casual gamers.
Glad to see ACNH still on number 1. 😀
@Not-Geno Only 77 New 3DSes sold
@sikthvash
Hi, are you a troll ?
By this point, anyone can guess that Animal Crossing sold 5 times more than DOOM Eternal, really
@Anti-Matter MK8, SMO, SSBU, Splatoon 2 etc.:
crying in the corner
Like I said.
Animal crossing is immortal.
@Anti-Matter @Not-Geno pretty sure, sikthvash is joking.
back to the charts though, nice to see Animal Crossing hanging in there.
Is that good or bad for Catherine: Full Body?
@Aaron00 Owning it myself, I can say it's a legit workout game. It won't make you buff no, but you will get a healthy workout from it.
@Not-Geno I was joking! =0p
@Anti-Matter see above - nope, I don't eat goats
Another week and I reckon TLOU2 will be gone from the top 10, all that power, all them blades of grass, all them grisly deaths all that art and tips of the hat to Hollywood went unappreciated.
@shazbot Well, it is just about dead
@sikthvash I know about Doom on Switch but what game is Gloom?
@WiltonRoots that is because Japanese gamers like kiddie looking games, which Last of Us clearly isn't.
Switch outselling PS4 more than 10/1?
Makes me curious of how well the japanese market will receive the positively gigantic PS5.
@beazlen1
Gloom is a pokémon. ^^
@WiltonRoots,
Yes but Nintendo should be making those sorts of games, well they should if you listen to some idiots on the internet.
TLOU2 is the only game there not a cartoon 🤦♂️ it basically took a Western studio to bring something "Different" (both visual and content) to the Japanese chart 😁
Another port failure with Catherine: Full Body on Switch. Also called it (was called a troll)... and again, most did not care for an overpriced old port.
Make something New on Switch. Hoping Pro Yakyuu 2020 does well for Bandai Namco. The Mrs, like Clubhouse Games: 51. That is a win.
@Aaron00 yea... who would guess Ring Fit Adventure would outsell The Last of Us 2!
@Pod I’m calling the next gen war results already:
Japan -Nintendo wins
America - XBox wins
Europe - PlayStarion wins
@WiltonRoots

Hollywood does not make Movies thinking they be appreciated in Japan. It is all about the West - just like our game Studios 😉
At least Microsoft is making money from Minecraft in Japan, that game alone on Switch sold way more than any Xbox in Japan.
@Agramonte
We'll see how much of a "failure" Catherine on Switch turns out to be.
It's a niche game in the first place, and the port is unlikely to have been that significant of an investment.
I have a hard time seeing a scenario where the Switch port isn't a financial success.
@Tharsman
The PS4 outsold the XBO in the US, and Switch is on track to outsell them both, so I dont see any situation where Xbox Series X is going to become the US market leader next gen barring the PS5 and Switch 2 having disastrous launches.
@Agramonte
Imagine living in an age where "realistic" vs "cartoony" games is still a thing worth fighting about lol
@Dman10 They tend not to favour that realistic blue-grey depressing western game look over there, they're more into escapism (a better term than kiddie perhaps) than realism. And it stretches to all walks of life over there, bright colours everywhere.
@westman98 It's bizarre but here we are!
@Not-Geno
<joking>
@Not-Geno Only 77 New 3DSes sold
</joking>
Fixed
@Agramonte There's you doing that looking down your nose at Japan thing again....oh dear.
@Slowdive I’m assuming you liked it then? I didn’t get it. Not a big fan of collections.
Still can't buy a Nintendo switch in the United States easily, I still can't buy ring fit easily. Maybe they're giving all their stock to the people in Japan? But I figure the numbers are going to be kind of bad for the United States.
@Slowdive I want to get that game soon but I am waiting for a price drop, if there ever is one oh, I love the demo but it's just so expensive!
@Pod With the PS5confirmed to be a home console, probably not very well. It feels like Sony's ceding Japan to Nintendo with their focus on western gamers, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
Clubhouse Games and Ring Fit Adventure really do have legs, the latter especially. Glad to see more unique titles doing well.
Looking forward to when the chart goes back to just being Nintendo Switch titles
@Andrew5678 Playstation is very much American like XBOX. Most games are American style games catered to an American user base.
Where Nintendo actually offers stuff they want in Japan.
@westman98 I know it might feel that way from a global perspective, but in the US, right now, the race is a lot closer than you would think.
31.22m XBox Ones in the US vs 36.86 PS4.
They just need a small boost in sales to "win" in America. That is, of course, only America. There is no chance in hell they will gain much traction in Mobile Friendly Japan, and Europe has quite a different history with consoles than the US (Europe liked Sega over Nintendo for some reason...)
@sanderev There is a lot of overlap among all markets, but if there is a bias, I have always had this [non research funded] feeling that the markets are more divided with the following bias:
European - Bias towards realistic story focused narrative games
American - Bias towards multiplayer and shooting eachother
Japan - Bias towards RPGs (and make it mobile because our public transportation is awesome!)
@Tharsman I clearly should be living in Japan then.. Most games I play are RPGs.
@sanderev same!
@RPGamer Always thought you were more of an FPS Gamer.
From what I've heard, these are all great games, and while The Last of Us 2 isn't good…
@Mrnotultra last of us 2 gameplay is great even though it’s just a slightly more polished rehash of the gameplay from the first game. Acting is great. Graphics are great. The story, it’s execution and it’s ending “moral” is where the game fails. Also, I suppose debatably, none of the characters are likable and the main relationships the game focuses on are boring.
It’s not selling 100k like it was before, but it’s still doing pretty great. It’s bound to slow down eventually, though. Especially since a Switch shortages are still a thing.
@Tharsman
America is definitely Xbox's strongest market and I expect Xbox Series X to outperform Xbox One in America, but it will still be hard for it to outperform PS5 or Switch 2.
@KarmaGoona ok then, but out of 10, how much do you rate The Last of Us and The Last of Us 2?
what its at 9 on the chart how?
