Re: Camps, Curry And Customisations Come To Pokémon Sword And Shield

@Alpha008

I suspect they are going to be used for pokemon recovery or stat enhancement, or to raise the levels for this game's equivalent of pokemon amie, replacing the cakes from the previous games.

Though this is conjecture.

EDIT: Looking at the screenshot again, I see spicy, dry, sweet, sour. These were flavors that were used for pokemon contest stats in older games, maybe that feature will be returning.

Not bad, though I don't entirely trust Gamefreak to make the ingredients for crafting the actually useful curries (EV reset effect, IV boost or maximize etc - IF they actually do serve this role in the game) reasonable for the player to obtain, which will encourage cheating.

You know there's gonna be a "gold curry" that has a crafting ingredient that you can only get once per playthrough

Glad to hear that the option to turn off the motion blur was carried over from the previous releases, it wasn't available when I played this sometime later last year. Having a mandatory download for accessing the other two games sucks, but it was also done on the other versions, so I can't say I'm surprised it was done here. Am fairly certain that the download size is reduced, at least in comparison to the ps4 version for loading up Spyro 2 and Spryo 3.

The first time Spyro has been respected in a long time, Toys for Bob did a pretty darn good job of capturing most of the style that made the original games great. Stewart Copeland's original soundtracks are also available from the start on all three games. Maybe they'll make a new game at some point?

Re: Pokémon Card Gets Banned From World Championships To Avoid Player Confusion

@Heavyarms55

I've never used any of the online services for the tcg myself..was an early player back near the beginning, but pretty much stopped late third gen or so. Think the holon lab/Delta set was the last one I got boosters from. Can remember the early fourth gen sets kind of being flat with cg artwork on a lot of the cards, really haven't been a part of the loop since then.

Re: Square Enix Also Exploring The Idea Of Its Own Subscription Or Streaming Service

I still look at the prospect of an all streaming games service as the the starry-eyed dream of executives to finally realize their own private money bin to swim in.

Going to be very interesting to see how any of this will actually work with North American potato internet and data caps, unless they're going to emphasize glorious 480i quality, and after all the push to 4k ultra HD, the marketing should prove to be quite novel for the inevitable streaming only games.

Re: A Full Sequel To The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Is Now In Development

Like the direction the trailer is going in. I hope they keep the ability to climb, remove or tweak the durability system and add more content to the overworld (caves, full dungeons, non fetch quests). If they're set on keeping durability, at least let the player craft or repair their equipment in some way.

I can appreciate what they were going for in botw with that setup, but for me it just became an annoyance after a while, and led to me avoiding fighting the mobs most of the time while traveling that expansive map.

Re: Banjo-Kazooie Confirmed For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Fall

Wow, this is kind of surreal. Have not seen the direct yet and took a little while for this to sink in as a non-troll post. Awesome choice, and it makes me very happy to see them given so e recognition after so much time in obscurity. I hope they're built as an interesting character, because this certainly makes me want to buy the fighter pass.

Re: Review: Rogue Legacy - Generations Of Challenge Packaged Up In An Irresistible Roguelike

Could never really get into this game myself. The overall silly tone and procedural platforming were great, but the grinding just killed it for me, along with the feeling that it was impossible to achieve a win condition at any point early in the game. Contrasting this with something like spelunky or the binding of Isaac, where the player has a chance of getting a win even on their very first run, but likely failing due to a lack of experience at that point.
