Hopefully they get the camera ironed out. Have mostly completed the game (down to ten or so pagies remaining last time I played) and that is really my only gripe.
So I take it that outside of possible cloud services, the only people who will have portable save data will be the same people they're attempting to lock out by doing this.
Not Game Freak's best choice for an addition to the game. Cool in concept, but honestly feels more like a waste of the player's time in comparison to the old DexNav for finding Pokemon with their hidden abilities. Defeat 20+ Pokemon for a CHANCE to find the hidden ability? AND it does not carry over like the DexNav did!? Can be useful for getting EPs I'll admit, but a Pokemon calling for help and not finding it repeatedly is just infuriating.
A rock type? That's certainly an unexpected type choice for Iwanko. Had I seen it without that bit of information, would have assumed it to be another generic early-game normal type. I guess we'll be getting a rock type arcanine then, and that could be pretty interesting (just hope it doesn't become rock/normal though!)
Definite sleep is also interesting, though something tells me that Nekkoala won't be all that strong a pokemon, unless it evolves of course. Either way, have to use it alongside snorlax and slaking for a healthy dose of laziness.
Was really expecting a delay of some kind (even more so as Playtonic has pulled together additional Rare staffers) but I don't mind it at all.
Probably my only nitpick on the trailer would be that some of the particle effects look a little bland, but it is quite minor, and I'm certain they'll iron it out and make the game look even more beautiful before they're done.
Looking forward to this game more and more with each bit of additional news.
Would speculate that GameFreak took a peek at player save data using the Global Link and saw only a small percentage of players completing their extra content, leading to the stripped down Masion being created.
Needless to say, was really disappointed to see the Battle Frontier left out in ORAS. Did enjoy playing through the Battle Pyramid back in Emerald, and had been looking forward to the possibility of revisiting it.
I couldn't really get over that basically all there was left to do in the game was the bland battle maison and an annoying mega stone scavenger hunt with an arbitrary daily time limit. Postgame (outside of multiplayer) felt like a complete afterthought, which was a first since Emerald. I'm really hoping this is not repeated with Sun/Moon.
Happy to have backed this, and really looking forward to its release, especially with progress like that.
Hoping Playtonic stay together after they've completed the project and they manage their nostalgia credit carefully, since I would enjoy seeing a full renaissance of 3d platformers.
Groan. Ten years already? That makes me feel too old....
For me, New Super Mario Bros. was an okay game. I did have some fun with it, collecting all the star coins and opening up the hidden levels....though I could never shake the feeling of dullness when playing that game, at least when compared to my experiences with its predecessors.
New Super Mario Bros Wii was my last game from the "New" series. It was also a competent game (and I did love the penguin suit) but I couldn't help but feel burned that Yoshi was only available in what, six levels, and could not accompany Mario out of the level like he could in Super Mario World.
Hoping they retire the "New" brand in the next gen - New Super Mario Bros U being the Mario game for the Wii U's launch contributed to me passing on it so far.
If Nintendo has to keep that "New" brand what I'd really like to see would be a New Super Mario World done in a fully 2d style like Spelunky HD or Rayman Origins/Legends. Or...an open exploration 3d Mario platformer à la Super Mario 64. Though I think this is less likely to happen. Something like either of those would certainly increase my excitement for the NX a lot.
Oh, and tone down those bahs in the music, please? It was cute in the first game, but kinda got on my nerves in the second.
Probably my biggest wish for the Sun/Moon is that they've kept their eyes on multiplayer during the run of the current gen and include balance of Pokemon both new and old high on their priority list.
Liking what I've seen of the new region so far...just hoping there are no secret islands the average player is going to need a gameshark to visit. Would also be nice if the inevitable event Pokemon are patched in later on, so their reveal can be an actual surprise.
Well, I'd welcome seeing a return to cartridges myself. Other than their documented advantages, it would allow for a sturdy console with cooling fans left as the only moving part - assuming it does not have a mechanical hard disk. I do hope that cartridge storage space or increased production cost would not become issues, as it would be quite tragic for that to wind up as a potential tripping point for the NX.
On the other hand, could see the increased expense factored into a scheme to help push digital distribution, utilizing the increased cost of the cartridge as an excuse to give digital purchases a price advantage over physical. Have to wait and see.
I'm looking forward to the new games myself. Here are some of my thoughts:
-As others have already said, an optional hardmode for more experienced players would be very enjoyable. Wouldn't imagine it to be too difficult to implement, just give the bots different, possibly higher-level loadouts or a smarter level of A.I.
-Maybe bring back that modified exp system from Black/White. I did like being awarded with extra experience for defeating something with a level advantage over my pokemon.
-Create new pokemon, moves and abilities (or make certain classical moves more available via TM) intended to defeat overly spammed pokemon/strategies in order to make more playstyles practical in multiplayer.
-A kind of ability TM would be really awesome.
-Add in another "flat battle" mode that gives the option to factor out IV's in multiplayer. I've grown tired of hatching thousands of eggs.
-Speaking of eggs, bring back the nursery from Black/White 2 PRETTY PLEASE. Was flabbergasted that this feature was dropped in X/Y...does Gamefreak think we like walking in circles...?
-More postgame content is always great. Other than the expected battle tower/frontier/maison thing, maybe add in some tough bonus gyms that focus on playstyles instead of types. Revisiting an older region would also be great......though I don't think this is likely.
-Story wise, I do hope it is closer to that of Black/White, and the villainous team is more memorable, because team flare were pretty terrible.
-More pokemon. More than were introduced in X/Y. And make them weird. I don't care if we get a chocolate bar pokemon that is made out of a RageCandyBar exposed to the same moon x-rays that spawned grimer, as long as it still manages to add something interesting to the game.

Well, that sounds like a big pass to me.
Would be pleased to have that feeling proven wrong if this rumor actually has some validity to it.

Have a feeling that if this turns out to be a thing, Super Mario Odyssey is going to be a next year release.
