Meanwhile, some journo breathlessly at Bloomberg: NINTENDO GIFTS MICROSOFT EXEC PROTOTYPE SWITCH PRO, WILL LAUNCH WITH GAMEPASS AND HALO INFINITE ON NOVEMBER 33RD
I for one am glad Skyward Sword was such a mess of hang-holding and training wheels back in the day. It made Aonuma realise they had strayed too far from what Zelda was supposed to be so for the sequel they took the training wheels off and just let people play and explore. BOTW is a great game partly because SS was so tedious in so many ways...
Disappointing, but not unexpected. I am sure all the "leakers" will use this as proof they were right about the Switch Pro. Fun fact: Releasing this new minor hardware revision is almost proof there won't be a technically superior Pro model in the near future!
Also the Switch Pro will be revealed next week with the Zelda HD collection and Metroid Prime HD collections that are also totally done and completed and will be out any day now, and also Sega is going to make F-Zero GX2+alpha for the Dreamcast 3 (they're skipping the number 2 because a fortune teller whose uncle works at Nintendo told them it was bad luck). Why bother posting rubbish rumours from these people who have been consistently proven to be full of it?
There's a greater than 50% chance there's an actual Metroid powering those robots.
More like EMMI = Electronic Metroid Machine Interface.
EDIT: The little "DNA sampler" needle? Also for sucking out life force like a Metroid.
@Slowdive See also: "You can't actually be racist against white people." Ridiculous. There's a reason comments sections have to be purged of consensus against things like Critical Race Theory.
An obvious but kinda boring pick to be honest, especially with Bamco helping with the title in the first place. Kazuya is even one of my mains in Tekken but Jack, Kuma/Panda, or even Law might have been more interesting options, not counting the possibilities of Soul Calibur characters instead. Yoshimitsu might have worked since he's in both franchises but he's also yet another sword user...
@1031Gamer That was Chris Houlihan and he got his name in a test room of ALTTP. Specifically, it was a fail-safe room so if the game didn't know where to send Link it would default to this room to prevent the game crashing.
How long until he mentions the name of a region or territory that is totally owned by China for real you guys and is forced to retire to appease the CCP and their army of penny trolls?
@InkIdols The original Metroid would only let you have one or the other. You couldn't combine wave beam and ice beam. If you wanted the other one you had to go back to one of the Chozo statues that held the upgrade and swap it.
Was the situation around NARPAS SWORD ever resolved? Some speculated it was purposefully built-in to the game to bugtest the North American release (hence the name) while others say it too was just a fluke of the game's password system.
Another fun piece of trivia is that Metroid and Kid Icarus use the same engine and Kid Icarus even had Metroid-like enemies appear (though they have a different name) and that the password system was created for the western release of both games. The Japanese originals were FDS games and so had built-in save support.
I hope they also release an updated port of Samus Returns on Switch. It was a great game but didn't get the attention it deserved at the tail-end of the 3DS right before the Switch released. Fire Emblem Echoes suffered the same way.
Honestly, I rarely get excited by announcements anymore. Leaks are interesting in a "industry drama" way, but when something is announced I shrug and reserve all judgement until it's out. Maybe it just comes with getting older.
I love GBG but it really does have some glaring omissions. I hope Nintendo keeps updating this thing and doesn't just let it die, because a proper browser system for finding games or following creators, not to mention some kind of modelling/rigging system (doesn't have to be fancy) and a simple music sequencer, would take this from a 6 to a 9 for me. I would love for this to be something akin to the Pico8.
@mr_eman yeah my bad, i mixed names up, was chatting about Simon in another thread (and talking about how in Japan Trevor is named Ralph Belmondo lol)
@TheFrenchiestFry the race swapping itself isn't even the biggest annoyance with it, it's the hypocrisy with all the complaints about "colonisation in media" from the same people. and sassy comebacks are no substitute for character development, especially when you're supposed to be the son of a literal Devil fighting to right his father's wrongs using those same powers of darkness
Not surprised, any use of drugs in-game that's related to incentives (such as giving any kind of buff) is frowned upon by our glorious nanny. Even if the drug doesn't give a buff but simply doesn't give a debuff it can considered incentivising the use of drugs. If only there was some kind of rating where adults could still purchase this content and enjoy it without worrying about children...
I hope they try and adjust the balance of DQ2 because that game is a mess. On the one hand it's authentic to have one character literally be a coffin and have the game with a difficulty spike you need climbing gear to summit toward the end, but on the other hand it would be wonderful to see how it would play if it wasn't balanced by someone with a middle ear infection.
A terrible idea is still terrible, regardless of whether it was designed that way from the beginning. If amiibo unlocked some stuff early (like a cheat code, remember those?) or gave extra portions of resources/currency in-game that would be fine, but to lock actual content and features (not just fast-warp but stuff like Wolf Link in BOTW) is, was, and will always be asinine.
I was hoping when they announced an expansion they'd actually bother to fix the framerate issues. As it currently is (and has been since launch week) the game runs so poorly it gives me motion sickness.
RE8 combined on two Sony consoles couldn't sell more than Pokemon Snap, or even MHR which is more than a month old at this point. Sony is in real trouble in Japan.
Considering how they butchered Castlevania lore, and how Netflix continues to completely disregard common sense in adapting everything they touch, I say leave us our pleasant memories of the original Zelda cartoon which will look like Shakespeare compared to what we would get in the current year.
I thought for sure this game was considered dead by Nintendo. So glad they added real online multiplayer. Now that just need to add some classic boards and mini-games from previous Parties and we're all good.
Online play, online leaderboards. Other than that? Nothing. Just more of the same. F-Zero is so good as it is that I think one new game every two decades will make sure people don't get tired with it...
I expect MS to try and cement their GamePass library with an acquisition like this, and I don't think Sony has enough cash to afford a buy this big. If it does happen I just hope Nintendo manages to get the rights to Dragon Quest...
@Zeldafan79 The SNES had a Sony soundchip that used a sampler (with extremely limited memory). The MDG used an onboard synthesiser, the actual model of which varied between console revisions, so while some games would sound good on original hardware, on the model 2 or later it would sound different.
I translated this from "*****" into English for everyone:
"Actually putting effort into recreating the best versions of these games for both new and old audiences was too hard, so we just scraped whatever we found in the backups and threw them up on the store for full price. "If you don't buy this laziest of efforts we will assume there is no market for actually putting effort into Ninja Gaiden and this is all you will ever get. "We hope people will buy this bare-minimum effort with the promise that maybe we will try harder next time to make a Ninja Gaiden game although there is an awesome get-out-jail-free clause in here for us. Listen to this awesome nonsense! "Please bear in mind that actually buying this 'remaster' will of course reinforce the idea that our zero-effort money harvest is actually worthwhile so we're more likely to put absolutely no effort of creativity into future endeavours since you plebs will literally buy anything."
Does Ring FIt Adventure have a fishing mini-game? Because it's only a JRPG if it has a fishing mini-game and if it has a fishing mini-game it's a JRPG.
@Guitario There are also trade agreements but about the eShop not being able to undercut the RRP that stores sell for, otherwise stores will stop selling physical Switch games if they're getting constantly undercut.
Also, the Hearts of Stone DLC is the best part of the game anyway.
So either Sony has given up their puritanical pearl clutching (less likely) or Gust is developing to Sony's standards and removing the fan-service for all consoles and territories (more likely).
@Clyde_Radcliffe Dan was Capcom making fun of SNK by putting Robert's head on Ryo's body (from the Art of Fighting series before they appeared in KOF).
