Nintendo has confirmed that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's next major update, which will take the game to Version 12.0.0, will be arriving "in the near future," potentially giving the game away on the next fighter's release window.
The incoming arrival of Version 12.0.0 was announced on social media this morning; Nintendo reminds Smash players to convert any in-game replays you've been saving up before the update arrives.
Of course, next Monday we're being treated to a 40-minute presentation from series director Masahiro Sakurai which will provide the usual overview of the game's next fighter, Tekken's Kazuya. Fighters are often released shortly after these demonstration videos, so coupling that fact with today's Version 12.0.0 reveal suggests that we'll be playing as Kazuya from as early as next week.
We'll make sure to host the Kazuya presentation right here on Nintendo Life next Monday. It kicks off at 7am Pacific / 10am Eastern / 3pm BST / 4pm CEST, so make sure to join us then to see the show.

Going to guess it will arrive very shortly after the Sakurai Presents show then.
Okay, hear me out, Kazuya needs medical treatment or something for twisting his spice like he has none.
Kazuya… I would have preferred a Fire Emblem character… at least is not Heihachi
Me personally I'm finding it hard to be excited about him.
I don't play tekken which doesn't help me I'm sure if I was a fan I'd be excited but I don't know the character and so far not sure if he will be interesting to play , last few ones had some uniqueness.
Like hope it's not too similiar to ryu, Terry and Ken.
@ArtiomNLS
Have you seen what Kazuya can do with his spine?
It twists in ways that should not be possible.
@RupeeClock *in ways that are physically impossible without experiencing pain
For me, Kazuya is a boring choice because I don't play Tekken and it's not one of these characters I like even though I never played their games, but I'm not complaining, Bandai Namco is working on this game and they deserve another Fighter, we couldn't get just Pac-Man.
Hoping that soon, Sakurai announces that he is going to retire from the Smash Bros. series so he can work on other games, or even retire from the whole videogame industry so he can rest, but Bandai Namco is going to make a Fighter Pass Vol. 3, or even more, without Sakurai.
Oh will this update also make it more stable?
I cannot wait for Kazuya, Tekken is one of the best fighting games and a character from there was well overdue. Hoping with a Terry situation in regards to fanservice/music tracks.
@bimboliquido the big one would be Mortal kombat but that's not surprising given its gore.
After that is more the some what lesser known fighters like
Killer instinct
Dead or Alive
Guilty Gear
Virtua fighter doesn't have a character but has an assist trophy
Darkstalkers...if capcom ever remember it's a thing that can have anything other than a cameo
An obvious but kinda boring pick to be honest, especially with Bamco helping with the title in the first place. Kazuya is even one of my mains in Tekken but Jack, Kuma/Panda, or even Law might have been more interesting options, not counting the possibilities of Soul Calibur characters instead. Yoshimitsu might have worked since he's in both franchises but he's also yet another sword user...
Instead Sora (Kingdom Hearts), maybe the latest playable character will be Jin Kazama.
@bimboliquido Mortal Kombat is practically impossible thanks to the series being banned in Japan since MK9 lol
I'd love for it to happen, but there's historical circumstances preventing it
Anyone else can’t download it yet? Or is the update not releasing with Kazuya?
