Nintendo released a major update for the Switch 2 earlier in September, bumping the system firmware up to Version 23.0.0.

Now, it has rolled Version 23.0.1 at the end of the month to sort out some small issues where software might take longer than expected to perform an action. Below are both sets of patch notes, courtesy of Nintendo's official support page.

Notably, there is no mention of stability improvements, but this should still improve your overall experience on the Switch and Switch 2. So, here's the rundown:

Switch 2 Ver. 23.0.1 (Released September 30, 2026)

Fixed an issue from system version 23.0.0 where software occasionally took a long time to start, pause, or close.

Switch 1 Ver. 23.0.1 (Released September 30, 2026)

Fixed an issue from system version 23.0.0 where software occasionally took a long time to start, pause, or close.

Of course, if anything else is discovered about this latest firmware update, we'll be sure to let you know. This again follows a major update earlier this month, which added VRR output in TV mode on the Switch 2. Welcome Tour also got an update to support this in its "VRR Slider Demo".

Nintendo has also recently released some backward compatibility updates for multiple Switch titles, including games like Ninja Five-O and Go Vacation. You can see the full list in our previous post:
