Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th July)

Ryne-Gaia

Alrighty we got another awesome WAYP. Been an interesting week of all sorts of games all over. Really fell in love with some Mario Kart World this week that’s honestly the GOAT. But also played some WWE and Indiana Jones and all that. This weekend mostly featured a game beaten alongside my wonderful girlfriend. That being AI: The Somnium Files Nirvana Initiative. Honestly it was really cute and charming seeing her reactions to where the game goes towards the end of it. It’s a great game and I can’t wait for No Sleep For Kaname Date towards the end of this month. Rest of the weekend I think is gonna be taken up with a pretty marathon session of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to beat it. Just wanna do the last Fieldwork and then wrap up the main story. Then I can reinstall stuff like Doom The Dark Ages and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Or even better I got my grandmothers birthday gift of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach this week and I am chomping at the bit to install it and start it. Wanna get back to and beat Assassin’s Creed Shadows before Ghost of Yotei comes out as well. Most of the week I think tho is gonna be full of some Switch 2 fun like Mario Kart World for my Girlfriends birthday with her family or some Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma to scratch that farming itch. Gotta try to get back to Raidou Remastered too. That game has a lot of charm. Can’t wait for Donkey Kong Bananza too. Wrestling thing of the week has to be the absolute buffet of things we got from WWE this week. On top of the regular shows we got NXT The Great American Bash, Saturday Night’s Main Event, and the all women’s PLE EVOLUTION. All in all a absolutely banger lineup. Anime of the week gotta go to My Hero Academia Vigilantes, Guilty Gear Strive Dual Riders, Gundam Gquuuuuux, and Sakamoto Days. All excellent as always. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Punching Up, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Weapon Wheel Podcast, Let’s Anime and Remap Radio. As always yall stay safe, be cool to each other. Have a totally safe and cool weekend. And of course Happy Gaming.

This is probably unpopular opinion but there are times when it's best to just let things stay in the past. Given the current state of games, all the over bloated budgets, all the politically charged hijinks, how the current gaming "media" stokes the fires, etc. I could go on and on. Sadly, after all us gamers have been through anytime I hear about of anything from the past being rebooted and/or remade I get...nervous (I've already lost so much there's not much left to be burned to the ground).

This was back when anything Star Wars was cool. Miss those days. Anyways (before I go on a rant), the NA/EU version all the way. This is such a lopsided win this may trigger a mercy rule in my opinion. I'll never forget getting this game along with the expansion pack and just having my jaw drop to the floor with all its presentation.

Stop teasing me with that Star Fox image. I kinda don't see the Switch 2 surpassing its predecessor because of its price & little kids have a tendency to break things so I can't see a multiple Switch 2s per house hold. I feel like spiting Anti-Matter a bit by buying Street Fighter 6 because Mario Kart World is asking for too much price wise, I'm just here playing either GameCube (Soul Calibur, F-Zero GX & Strikers.) Or going back to ToTK with the Switch 2 upgrades to find Koroks & voice memories.

Re: Talking Point: One Month On, How Did Nintendo's Switch 2 Launch Go?

Interesting times. Interesting variety of user comments. Interesting to see what games get announced over the next couple of months and how the hardware sales figures look in September.

As much as I'm quite satisfied to have held off buying one, it could just take one game to change my mind. I'm sure Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are great, but my arm just hasn't been twisted yet.

Re: Video: How Does Switch 2 Look On A CRT TV? Glorious

I have one in my garage and is used only for my n64. Just doesn’t look right no matter what use to play it on a 65” flatscreen, looks terrible. but on a 27” crt, looks amazing. I force the family into retro gaming every couple months by unhooking the other consoles and only having nes/snes/genesis/n64/atari 2600/or our arcade cabinets to be used, instead of the switch’s. Sadly the wii/u has become retro to us as well the last few years. Switch killed it in our family. But we rather play Wii sports over switch sport for some reason…
Btw, next week is retro week, and I think the n64 and snes will be the console of choice, going on vacation and it’s easy to only have other things hooked up instead.

Great list! Though i’m waiting on physical releases for some of them. Some of these games feel too big for eShop only games.

Or maybe I should fully switch to digital, but then I expect to only buy like 1/4th of the games I used to.

@DTfearTheBEARD Oh please. Nintendo has allowed you to redownload purchases on previous systems for roughly the same amount of years that Steam has existed. And considering Nintendo just did a major maintenance update for the Wii/DSi/WiiU servers last year to keep them accessible, I doubt they plan to shut them down any time in the near future.

Valve are notoriously a disorganised company, I mean Steam OS is still a glitchy mess after all these years. My brother and I laugh off all of my Steam Deck's little annoyances. I almost had enough of it though when it BSODed on me and I had to RMA it. As much as I love Steam on my actual PC, it also wouldn't surprise me if one random day Gabe is like "Welp, we're broke now" and randomly shuts the site down.

Only played one of the listed games, so my opinion is therefore severely limited! That said, really enjoying Fast Fusion, impressive and fun to jump into every now and then since launch. Of the other games, most interested in trying Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess.
