Capcom Wants Your Help For Future Digital Releases

Posted by Orla Madden

Let your voice be heard

Capcom senior vice president Christian Svensson has posted a survey on Capcom-Unity asking users what they think Capcom should be doing in terms of future potential digital games. Note that's digital only — not retail projects.

Within the survey, Capcom wants to know what you're most interested in seeing, such as straight ports, HD remakes, franchise reboots or completely original IP. However, it's worth bearing in mind that Svensson emphasises that the survey is intended to gather some thoughts from the public — titles that are mentioned are not guaranteed to be seen.

There's no guarantees on what the outcomes will be, but I promise you, this data will be a factor in our decision making process.

Obviously, we have many opinions internally and we're looking to gather some data about your buying habits and what franchises and even title types, you'd like us to make in the future.

Popular franchises such as Ace Attorney, Resident Evil and Monster Hunter are mentioned, with particular attention being paid to Mega Man. The survey will take less than 10 minutes of your time, so it's worth popping over and giving Capcom your input.

We know that the company has a year of celebrations planned for Mega Man's 25th anniversary next year, so what else is up its sleeve?

My favorite part is when they asked me if I wanted digital versions of Mega Man 9 and 10.

Hokori said:

MH 1, 2, ports for 3DS, Dead Rising 2 WiiU, MvC for WiiU, MH Portable 3rd for 3DS. IDK I just want some games that arnt out on any ninty system (asside from MH1 which was for wii)

baba_944 said:

@ Philip_J_Reed I know right? I put for the additional response: "Why did you ask me if I want a digital port of Mega Man 9/10?" I even thought to myself "Well we know Capcom is messes upif they can't keep up with their franchises"

Pikachupwnage said:

Voted definite buy for all megaman battle network options.

Voted definite or maybe for for all legends, X and main megaman options.

Retro_on_theGo said:

Filled it out. Guys, make sure you put you want everything they're offering for Power Stone while you're at it.

gavn64 said:

some new franchises would be nice. I want to see the old adventurous capcom of the mid nineties please.

CanisWolfred said:

Already filled this out yesterday. It's a nice survey, not that long. Definitely worth filling out if you have time.

FluttershyGuy said:

Happy to see Strider among the options, and know Capcom hasn't forgotten it (and it could be in future plans ). Please, guys, mark Strider, so we can see it again after over a decade! STRIDER 3, FTW!!! All sons of old gods, DIE (evil Grandmaster laugh) !!!

Also... ARCADE PERFECT Street Fighter II, SF II Champion, SF II Hyper Fighting, Street Fighter III: New Generation, and SF III Second Impact, please.

DreamyViridi said:

I did the survey, it was alright and laid out very conveniently.

To anyone who plans on filling the survey and write additional notes; don't write something moronic or childish sounding, we want Capcom to take us seriously here.

Emaan said:

I made my opinions heard mostly on the future of digital Street Fighter and Mega Man games. Hopefully there's a lot of support on the 3DS and Wii U eShop to come.

theblackdragon said:

After all the various moments of furor over this past year, if Capcom doesn't know what we want yet, they must be dumber than I thought.

That said, I've completed this survey. Not that I expect to be listened to this time around since it's not like they gave a crap what I thought before, but whatever. I'm probably dumber than they are for buying into this PR crap at all.

FluttershyGuy said:

Wish there'd been a spot (unless I missed it) for suggesting other franchises you'd like to see. While it's not a "franchise", as there's only been one game, I'd love me some more "Code Name: Viper!"

TheDreamingHawk said:

I voted to make a compalation of all 10 MM games for the three systems like they did on the GC a few years ago, and voted for MML 1 and 2 rerelease. (I personally HATE MM64, but who knows, maybe they'll fix the game if they rerelease it)

TheDreamingHawk said:

@theblackdragon Are you... Really serious? I don't think Capcom did anything bad at all recently. (Yes MML3 got canned, but it's just a minor game, it's not like they flat out said that Mega man can't get a single game ever again)

Intrepid said:

I voted for Ace Attorney. Though I was not able to be more specific than that, I'm hoping that this could lead to Ace Attorney Investigations 2 being digitally released on the Nintendo e-Shop (because they won't make it a physical 3DS release apparently).

brooks83 said:

I just want more VC releases from them. Demon's Crest, Knights of the Round, heck, Mega Man Soccer. Make it happen!

MAB said:

You can tell the games industry is in dire straits when the top companies that have been around for decades resort to this BS

cornishlee said:

Another chance for me to continue my one-man Warriors of Fate campaign! (And show some Onimusha love too).

Swiket said:

It's Mega Man's 25 anniversary, and they're gauging interest in the franchise through a survey? It's like the family voting on whether or not to take Grandpa to a nursing home.

"Capcom Wants Your Help For Future Digital Releases"

We already tried that capcom...and you didnt listen.
Your website crashed because of all the traffic SF X MegaMan caused. MAYBE you can do the math by yourselfes what we want...

Rizsparky said:

Horry sheet.. it asked if I would like a Street fighter EX remake.... I might die

SubZer023 said:

64 Remakes in 3D on 3DS Eshop Such as ResidentEvil 2 and 3 as Well with Some Classic StreetFighter gamesXD

theblackdragon said:

@TheDreamingHawk: Yes, I'm 'really serious', and to be frank, no, I don't care what you think. You're not a fan of Legends, and that's okay, but following me around, continually referring to it as a 'minor title' and saying that people who are fans and who were looking forward to finally seeing the Legends story arc wrapped up shouldn't care so much about its cancellation is really twisting the knife. Please stop — or at least please stop singling me out over it.

GreenDream said:

@TheDreamingHawk Even Keiji Inafune said himself that the Mega Man Legends spinoff series was his favorite part of the franchise, other than Mega Man 2, so at least it's not minor in the mind of the master. Capcom has such a bad reputation right now because they bone even their star employees without hesitation. So the fans are screwed...

EvilLucario said:

Forget you, Capcom. You've basically killed off any relations with your fans and released one of the worst ways to celebrate you're mascot's 25th Anniversary.

You're not worthy of my money after Monster Hunter unless you give me more games I want and/or you pull your head out of the sand.

Tsuchinoko said:

OMG spam them with Megaman Legends answers. They even have spaces where you can write your opinion as well.

misswliu81 said:

i don't know if they will listen after the shenanigans of last year and this year- they were great in the 80s and 90s but not now. i want them to support the 3DS, wii U and give us games that aren't just streetfighter, resident evil. final fight, power stone, rivals schools 3, darkstalkers sequels, as well as captain commando and a really solid bionic commando game to name.

monster hunter ultimate was a good surprise, but we want more.

TheDreamingHawk said:

@theblackdragon That wasn't even what I meant. It may be minor in my eyes but I'm trying to force others to stop liking MML. If they like it they like it. I just think MML shouldn't continue since Kejjii inafune is no longer at capcom and it may not be the same. Personally I actually voted for a rerelease of MML1 and MML2, so it's not like I HATE the entire series. Sorry for the confusion

gundam00 said:

Dear god! Is anyone steering this ship anymore??
Capcom: "We don't know what to do with our company, so help us by taking a survey and tell us what to do (even though we told you not to expect anything from us)"
I'm surprised they took the effort to spell Mega Man correctly.

@NintendoLife: I wrote up the headline we will be reading in 6 months:
Capcom declares bankruptcy; Top executives paid $500,000 bonuses; Mega Man IP found in dumpster

T1m1 said:

More Wii VC games, like Gargoyle's quest 2, Demon's Crest, King of Dragons, even the unreleasted NES game Makai island retranslated. If Sega can translate/localize Monster World 4 then theirs no reason why capcom can do the same thing.

CanisWolfred said:

@TheDreamingHawk I know MML won't be the same without Keiji Inafune. I also know I'd still buy it anyways, since I still believe it'll be a good enough game in its own right, whatever direction it may take. I know others probably don't share my views, but still I'd love to see Legends continued.

WindWakerLink said:

I just did the survey. I totally mention for Mega Man Legends 3 to be release at least in digital form in ALL the comment boxes!!! XD I said it for MML and all Battle Network games!! Haha.

SnackBox said:

Really! REALLY!? Well honestly I guess I'm not that shocked, they really haven't done anything worth praising for a long time ><

DarkNinja9 said:

lol i agree with some of the comments this is just hilarious a company(just another to add to my list that is) that is failing badly and not listening to its customers/fans so they try to find a way to try to listen with a survey? xD what kinda lame trick is that and yet im sure they read them and then still come out with some random last minute idea they had

oh capcom we can see your tricks but im going to take the survey been wanting some megaman battle network now that some of you guys bring it up

Schprocket said:

Well I voted for Dino Crisis and a Resi Evil RTS but only because up to now I've never played or been interested in Megaman... however I never used to like platformers anyway, until I bought NSMBU to see what the fuss was about...

SimonB79 said:

I want proper HD remakes of all the ResidentEvil games ... Using the Wiiu Gamepad.

Sabrewing said:

A new Gargoyle's Quest/Demon's Crest for me, now that Firebrand got more exposure in Ultimate MvsC3.

Dizzard said:

I said no to all of the game except Megaman, and I'm not even that big a megaman fan.

Not happy they didn't ask me questions about Ace Attorney.

DaveGX said:

I just took their survey. At this point, I can honestly say the only franchise I ever cared about from them was MegaMan (Just not alter reality/non true cannon garbage like BattleNetworks/StarForce and well, honestly didn't care for Legends, no offense), and I really wouldn't mind buying straight port or HDs, or espeically even extentions like in new gameplay or whatever of the classics including the X series. The irony, however, is that when asked how much I'd pay, I only put $10, mainly cause I'd rather see them in new forms for retail maybe.... Just not for $10 as retail, though.

Any other games I never knew enough to care about, I got so sick of failing the same 2nd area of ghost n Goblins over and over that i finally just said scr** that. Street Fighter had already annoyed me far enough back with the constant seqeuls, old tired gameplay and graphics, including vs this and that; Not to mention that little stunt Street Fighter x MegaMan they pulled, nothing but fanmade and too hard. I really wanted to like it, but Capcom's heart and effort just wasn't there.

Other than that, they've already managed to crush my dreams 3 times now with their cancellations; MegaMan Universe, which had some real potential and 1 really sweet trailer, (Couldn't've imagined it any better myself) Online (which seems like it was merely left in the dark/trash to rot as opposed to cancelled) which had a really good trailer except for being anime only, 1st gameplay footage was kinda iffy; Good graphics, bit slow on gameplay. Lastly, XOver, which honestly if brought over to Android i probably would've given a try if not for the gameplay showing auto-running with practically no movement potential whatsoever.

What more disappointment could they possibly deliver? Honestly I really don't feel as though they're confident enough they can breathe new life or the true potential into the MegaMan franchise it deserves and until the day they show us they really care, I'm just not sure what confidence I even have left for for it anymore for what it's worth. ya hear that Capcom?! Congratulations, YOU KILLED my inner MegaMan! His fate rests forever burned onto your conscious now.

Geonjaha said:

@CactusJackson - They get money, and we get the games we want. In what way are we losing exactly? Might sound strange, but that's how businesses work.

Schprocket said:

@CactusJackson Whilst I hear ya, you don't have to push the idea of 'derivitive' too hard with most games, IMO.

I guess what made me laugh was that you say this in a Nintendo fan forum where as a relatively new Nintendo owner/player it still strike me as odd this sense that 95% of the people want more of the same - Mario/Zelda/Metroid... and maybe Donkey Kong... - in their various permutations.

Then I realise I've been no different with my Battlefield 'love' in the past - LOL!

shadowAOD said:

lets see,

for the 3ds eshop I would say hyper street fighter 2 anniversary edition,
Dino Crisis 1 and 2,RE2 and RE3(with the same improvements done to deadly silence like
skip door loading screens and polished graphics (and maybe to have the
option for the old re2 VA or the new ones to record new lines)

SubZer023 said:

Marvel Vs Capcom 3DS Classic StreetFighter Games on eshop VC and Classic ResidentEvils For 3ds Eshop XD

Chrono_Cross said:

As much as I'd love another remake of Resident Evil, I'd rather have Capcom put their time and effort into a sequel, spin off, or even a new IP altogether.

I honestly could not understand a word you just typed.

Brando67854321 said:

@TheDreamingHawk I did fill the survey out & I bet you 100 dollars it won't do anything at all. I don't care if the wii vc is obsolete they should have released megaman 6 after megaman 5 (2011 wii vc release) & before the longest wii vc drought!

Rod64 said:

After making the survey, I realised that the only Capcom franchises that I care about are Resident Evil and Okami.

Sun said:

Done. Asked for Resident Evil and Street Fighter, and Resident Evil going back to survival genre.

Lexicondevil853 said:

Minor game? I don't mean to argue but MML3 was the reason many fans bought a 3DS, plus it's weak to can the final part of a trilogy. Think about it, what if Star Wars ended with luke missing a hand and Han frozen in carbonite forever? From there they integrated MML3's artwork and combat into Lost Planet Ex Troopers, give us a trailer and then tell us we're not getting it. I was a Capcom fan for a very long time but after this, the train wreck that was RE6, the failure to localize lost planet, and all the on disc dlc I've began to get the feeling they don't care about the fans at all.

P.S. Lets not forget that Capcom blamed the fans for MML3 getting canned =/

That's like your parents setting your dog on fire and saying "it's your fault because sometimes you didn't pay attention to it"

TheDreamingHawk said:

@Brando67854321 HOW IS THE WII THE WORST SYSTEM? It's the best selling system ever, and the launch game (Wii sports) Is currently the no 1 selling game OF ALL TIME.

@Lexicondevil853 MML3's plot hole Can be fixed with a manga or anime if they wanted. From what I understand, Capcom had no other choice but to cancel it. ( I Don't know why) Personally MMUniverse was the biggest loss.
