If they did take a French Government grant to develop Ubiart (On the assumption it would be released for anybody to use to further art) that is about as scummy as you can get. (If they planned to do that but never took the money that is different).
Doom should be on it for the same reason Super Mario Bros is on it. It became the template that everybody tried to copy. That is the definition of significant.
@Grumblevolcano This seems that it is finally how it should be. The heavier characters should be harder to use and take more practice. (Presuming that is what is going to happen over time).
I wish characters / parts could be changed between matches though. (More strategy depending on the competition or track).
I was going to just buy this now I need to look at exactly what having the easy xp / loot grind missions does.
Maybe I will wait until the DLC goes on sale.
(Although I have no choice over what other people do - I do have the choice to make sure they get less (Or nothing as was my choice with Mario Golf) than they would otherwise due to something I disagree with).
@Quorthon His experiences are uninteresting. He goes for the lots of mediocrity approach. Good way to run a business bad way to make a game I want to play. (It is open to change if Treasurenaughts ends up better than Shovel Knight for example).
@Prof_Clayton Me too. (Reason I signed up for this site in the first place). Just because the annoy everybody marketing tactic is cheap and effective doesn't mean he shouldn't be called out on it.
@ShanaUnite 3D Classics Kirby has loads of bugs fixed and the slowdown removed. It is definitely worth it.
The Wii U Kirby's Adventure is particularly broken. It is a 50hz game with the speed of Kirby increased but the rest of the game still runs at the original speed.
@Damo Difference is there were ok / good / very good and great licensed titles at that time. Recently I can think of the Arkham Games / the first two Transformers Dark Moon games and that is it (Along with loads of terrible).
I still think in the direct they said once it was chosen that Amiibo would always load the same game. (Maybe reinstalling resets it) but I don't think just restarting the app does it.
@ledreppe The first time it kicks of the 970MB download. Next time it installs it. (Maybe they presume people would rather play than wait for the update to complete)
@outburst We don't know how much content it has to start with. I don't think just a single online mode is enough for €40. 8 on the other hand would be.
@rjejr No the products are just badly designed. Carts were basically child proof by default. Optical disks could be put in hard wearing caddies. (At worst you damage the caddy not the disk). Penny pinching in a way that shouldn't happen for the price.
@rjejr What proportion are being sold to scalpers though that is the question. could be only 5% of the people buying at the moment actually even want them as opposed to just to make a profit.
@Kirk I haven't heard of Nintendo doing anything when it comes to dojin guys ripping their stuff off (In a none commercial manner not sure anybody would consider trying it commercially)
@Quorthon It is one place but the Western games media - a) have no taste in games generally or b) don't even like games but are in it because it has no standards really.
The Famitsu guy was the only guy in the E3 press tournament who looked as if he had ever touched a Smash Bros game before.
@Kaze_Memaryu Wouldn't get any exposure doing that. As it stands somebody who decides they want a mobile game in that style knows this guy can produce what they want. Good business decision. (The likelyhood of actually losing money is low judging by past actions etc).
@Nintendude789 Mad Catz are pretty awful usually. (Other than the fight sticks that use Arcade parts). Hori stuff is decent that is all I know of. (But the cheap Arcade sticks not using Arcade parts are not very good). Mayflash is not the highest quality either. (But when they are the only option then they are the only option).
@Octane Not sure that would apply to Mario Kart. People play it in large numbers until the next one is released.
Those other games you refer to are basically forgotten by that point. (And whereas the 3rd parties would have to pay to advertise Nintendo can make people aware for free on the eshop as annoying as it might be).
Civ V had its last expansion 3 years after release. (Is it bigger than Mario Kart ? almost certainly not the Wii incarnation).
(I don't want more but I would buy it presuming the price etc stays the same.)
when do we want less DLC and more diverse releases? - Always.
(Even more so if one of the people tied up with DLC is Sakurai given that he made Kid Icarus : Uprising which is exactly the sort of thing I want more of.)
@ericwithcheese2 She is not genuine (She is also a very poor liar who contradicts herself). Wouldn't surprise me if she didn't play Nintendo games at all other than the absolute minimum required for her job. (Probably not really enough even for that).
@JaxonH If they do this in the West powersaves will be a workaround. (Maybe we find out for certain whether it is legal or not). Awakening broke the series anyway.

Re: Don't Worry Colour-Blind Gamers, Splatoon Has Got Your Back
I remember Speedball 2 having options for it (Only other time I specifically remember).
Re: Iwata Reveals a Bit More Information on Nintendo's Upcoming Integrated Membership Service
@Hy8ogen But the Playstation Mobile bit is a total waste of time. (The Xperia Play would have been ok but it only had like 6 games).

If they did take a French Government grant to develop Ubiart (On the assumption it would be released for anybody to use to further art) that is about as scummy as you can get.

Maybe that would redeem them a bit in my eyes.

Doom should be on it for the same reason Super Mario Bros is on it. It became the template that everybody tried to copy. That is the definition of significant.
Re: The Legend of Zeldo: Lonk's Awakening is an iOS Flappy Bird Clone, and an Abomination
It is a parody. (Think those are protected certainly in the US).
Re: Matters Of Import: Cleaning Up The City In 3D Streets Of Rage 2
@outburst Yep. I always use the dpad for a 2D game. (I use a grip though).
Don't have a solution to using the L button as well though that is comfortable. Other than not doing it for too long.
Re: Renegade Kid Twice Pitched Silent Hill DS Projects to Konami
@Quorthon The voice of Regegade Kid jools whatever

Re: Mighty No. 9 Confirmed for September Release, Along With Physical Retail Version
I hope it is to improve the game not to optimize the DLC costing as much as possible.

Re: Weirdness: ESPN's Michelle Beadle Gets Punch-Out!! Training
I heard about it from somebody. (Then switched off).
Re: Weirdness: Shigeru Miyamoto Takes on a Shinya Arino Level in Mario Maker, and It's Awesome
I hope they have learnt from Tipping Stars and have a better way to enable things to be found a bit more easily.
Re: Weirdness: Shigeru Miyamoto Takes on a Shinya Arino Level in Mario Maker, and It's Awesome
At least I know I am playing Mario the right way. (Thought they might have assumed people should take up a different slow playstyle at some point).
Re: Review: Heart Beaten (3DS eShop)
@Barbiegurl777 I can only imagine (But I think pretty accurately) what would happen if somebody made a similar sort of thing called wife beaten.
(Both are as tasteless but peoples reactions would be different).

Re: Preview: Unraveling the Truth in Yoshi's Woolly World
I will be getting it. Still doubt it will beat the SNES Yoshi's Island though. (Didn't enjoy Kirby Epic Yarn at all).
Re: Treyarch Isn't Working on Call of Duty: Black Ops III For Wii U, Though Activision is Noncommittal
He is right that ports shouldn't be bothered with.
The only time they were ever ok were Arcade -> Console/Computer.
Re: Digital Foundry Assesses The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and More GameCube HD Remake Possibilities
That framerate problem is not good enough. It is a smaller issue playing on the Gamecube connected to a CRT.
I never liked it to start with but I was thinking of trying it again and I am glad I didn't.

Re: Interview: Bringing Together the 3DS and Game Boy in BOXBOY!
I like it but I have only been doing one or two levels at a time. (Maybe it would make me lose interest otherwise).
Re: Masahiro Sakurai Shares His Positive Feelings on Producing "Authentic" Super Smash Bros. DLC With a Smaller Team
@LavaTwilight I think they should finish e.g Tournaments before doing DLC.
Re: Video: So, How Fast Is 200cc In Mario Kart 8?
It is much more fun. I haven't really used breaking yet. I seem to be able to manage on the tracks I know and like best.
Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd April (North America)
@Reznor52 The magic is at 200cc it what it always should have been online.

@faint Do you mean the Dragon Quest Rhythm game or something else ? (Is the mainline one coming to Wii U ?)

Girls Mode is a better name than the Western one.

Re: Video: Check Out the Surprising Complexity of Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition
Not interested at all. (Not even enough to download the demo).

Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd April (Europe)
@Starwolf_UK I thought they just ran the EU Rom at 60hz. (Which works when no optimization was done whatsoever).
Re: Bravely Second Offers Over 100 Hours Of Gameplay, Producer Already Has Plans For Third Game
The first one had about 5 hrs content padded out. (Look at how many NPC's the whole game has).
Compare to a real long RPG like DQVII
Re: Gallery: Feast Your Eyes On FullBlast, An Old School Vertical Shooter For The Wii U
I will get it I think.
Re: Talking Point: Market Expectations Remain High For Nintendo and DeNA's Smart Device Crusade
The stock market seems to love web and mobile stuff. (Huge valuations for companies that are not and have not ever made any money).
The iOS / Android markets are crowded for companies without a known IP. (Sega / Square Enix etc usually have a few in the top paid sections).
Square Enix charges more than VC for the better old games. (That model must be viable or they wouldn't keep using it).
Re: Gallery: These Project X Zone 2 Screens Give a Nice Sample of the Madness Coming in Monolith Soft's RPG
@retro_player_22 They only own some limited rights. (It is still coming to PC and will almost certainly have an Arcade version).
Re: Review: 3D Fantasy Zone II (3DS eShop)
Fantasy Zone II was good on the Master System. (Certainly more interesting than the first). Better port.
(Nowhere near as bad as some of the terrible NES Arcade ports anyway that shouldn't ever have been released in favour of the Arcade original).
Re: Video: This Is The 3D Sonic Game We All Truly Want, But May Never Have
I am not interested in 2D Sonic. (I preferred the 3D Levels in Generations).
Its annoying they moved on from it so quickly when I think they had the formula great but I did enjoy Lost World.
Re: Social Networks Go Into Meltdown Over Apparent The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess 3D Rumour
@evosteevo The Gamecube version works much better. Rare occasion where a game is better on a less powerful system.
Re: Official GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U Available Again on Amazon in the US
@Nintendude789 Mad Catz are pretty awful usually. (Other than the fight sticks that use Arcade parts). Hori stuff is decent that is all I know of.
