Re: Expect More Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcases Throughout 2020

tzahn

If you notice the branding on the last 2 presentations, it may be a monthly occurrence. Nintendo Treehouse Live July 2020 and Nintendo Direct Mini July 2020. Maybe they'll tie the first party games into a Treehouse Live segment? Either way, we know there are more in the future and stating July 2020 for each makes it seem like a monthly or every other month schedule instead of something quarterly like Summer 2020.

Re: Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase Airs Later Today

This wasn't hard to figure out if you pay attention to news sources that don't generally talk about Direct rumors until they actually appear to be real. Just do the research.

I'm interested that this is a the first in a "series". Seems like these 10 min videos may pop up every couple weeks in lieu of a full direct for the time being.

Re: Here's Your First Look At Harvest Moon: One World, Launching On Switch This Fall

@Zonned I'm well aware of the situation and my comment was one of exasperation that the good name of Harvest Moon continues to be dragged through the mud by these poor quality imitations. Natsume is eroding all the goodwill that was built up over the years. I'll say it again, I kind of hope it becomes such a dumpster fire that they sell the rights to the name and Marvelous is able to acquire it.

Re: Feature: Zelda: Majora's Mask At 20 - The Enduring Appeal Of Nintendo's Strangest Game

Ocarina of Time is my favorite game ever. I was pumped for this one. I played it, got about a quarter of the way through and didn't like it. I hated the time mechanic. I wanted to be able to explore the world at my own leisure, not having this countdown bearing down on me all the time.

Years later, I went back to it and beat it. I thought it was fine, but in the bottom tier of Zelda games. Last year, I played it on 3DS. It was much better than I remembered and I now realize that the time mechanic is important to the game and part of what makes it special. Still not my favorite Zelda and probably middle of the road for me personally, but a great game nonetheless.

Re: Nintendo Switch 10.0.0 Firmware Update Supposedly "Adds Preliminary Support For A New Hardware Model"

tzahn

Another hardware "revision" seems plausible for 2021. They have a handheld only, maybe this one is TV only? Sell a cheaper box that only outputs to the TV. Or possibly just another version of the regular Switch akin to the DS phat, DS Lite, DSi line. Or 3DS, 2DS, 3DSXL, New 3DS, New 3DSXL, 2DSXL or whatever the heck else they did with that.

There's not much reason for a Pro model at this point. Might as well release a different version for a small boost in sales while they work on the Switch successor to release in a few years. Have the new revision on shelves for about a year and then announce you're formally working on a successor. Add in that it will be backwards compatible and current sales wouldn't completely stop. That would buy a year or 2 of buildup for the release of the successor and boom you have a 6 year console cycle.

Re: A Nintendo Direct Mini Has Just Been Shadow-Dropped, Watch It Here

Everyone: WHERE IS MY DIRECT???

Everyone half an hour later: THAT WAS BAD, WHEN IS THE NEXT DIRECT??

This was basically the roadmap through June (which as we all know was supposed to be E3). This pretty much confirms they'll do a bigger, proper Direct around that time to announce the big holiday games.

Re: Feature: Best Castlevania Games On Nintendo Consoles

tzahn

I still prefer the level-based style of Castlevania and would love to see another one of those. That being said, I wouldn't mind a collection of the GBA and DS ones since I've only played a bit of them.

Also must mention that the soundtrack for Belmont's Revenge is wicked, especially for the GB.

Re: Review: Rune Factory 4 Special - The Definitive Version Of A Series Classic

@Heavyarms55 It depends. I assume RF5 won't make it outside of Japan until 2021, especially with XSeed handling the Story of Seasons FoMT remake sometime later this year. RF4 is also a cheaper price ($40 in the US, but I got my copy for $32), so it could be a good way to try out the series if you haven't and make a decision on RF5 from there.

My copy should be here in a week or so and I'm pumped! I've only played the first RF to completion and probably put 70 hours into Frontier, but was maybe halfway through the story? Either way, I'm looking forward to this and the eventual RF5. The only nitpick I have (and this is coming from the HM-lover side of me) is that I wish I could just have regular livestock along with the tamed monsters...I miss my bubble cows dang it!
