What's the point? Clearly Collector's aren't the only people who buy physical, and clearly most physical collectors will pass on the code in box release. So these are for those people who randomly check out the games section at a store, and impulse buy. So there must be a large enough audience of those type of buyers to warrent even doing this type of "physical" release.
I think that eventually these types of releases will fade in popularity among the publishers. I hope once they start to see their sales diminish in the physical sector, and they don't see an uptick in the digital sales that offsets it, they will go back to doing atleast some game data on the cart type of releases, or all data on the cart.
They also had the So called switch tax. They should just do that. If it really costs $10 more per game to release it physical, I'd pay that for it to be physical. Or they can just stop being dumb and release a physical.
Civ vi is 100% a game I'd have bought physical, and likely never play more than a few hours, preferring to play this type of game on pc. There's many games that fall into this category that I will now not have to buy and waste my money, since they'll all likely do this code in a box crap.
I'm not a big sports guy, but ads on jerseys is icky to me. I imagine in 30 years you'll be hard pressed to find the sport teams actual logo, as the whole jersey is stickered up like a Nascar. More likely teams will sell naming rights, something like, "Boston Hanes Red Sox" and the logo of the socks will have a Hanes tag on them, and then the jersey is plastered with company logos.
I just hope it has a good career mode. I've played Transforms career mode multiple times and it is the highlight of the game for me. If it's just a generic Mario Kart style Grand Prix I will be highly disappointed.
@Yalloo any word if there will be an English ntsc release and pal release? Ender lilies went through limited run, I was hoping this game would do that or get a wider retail release.
Steel books are kind of lame to me. I don't ever put the games in them, and they just take up space. The can crush easy, and scratch easy if you move the game out of your shelf a lot. Not to mention rusting. I don't know if they've overcome the rust issue, but halo 2 on Xbox amd Final Fantasy xii on ps2 come to mind with steel books that if you find them today are usually crushed or rusted or both.
As someone who has a game room that was already full 10 years ago, and only gets worst, these aren't really my favorite. I'd rather those dumb acrylic displays. Those I may display. Like most things in a collectors box or preorder bonus related, it stays in the box never to be used or seen. Waste of effort.
Knock some money off the price as a bonus, I'd like that more.
@Truegamer79 exactly. I own game genies and I have ways to play Japanese games on my Ps1/2 that also let me put in codes etc. I don't use any of them though, and I only have them for nostalgic reasons.
Back when I was a kid I would have loved using these to unlock all the MK3 roster with my friends, and play a game with every weapon and unlimited ammo. Now the idea of doing that doesn't ever cross my mind. It's taboo, unthinkable, and would ruin a game for me.
I personally think the journey of finding these exploits must be the fun for these people. The figure out how the game works under the hood, and tinker, and apparently do math, until they figure something like this out. Someone who then uses this to beat a boss, well they're pathetic in my eyes. The games not that hard, and if a young kid uses this exploit, we'll for them to be able to navigate the internet to find this exploit, and then do all the math and everything else that it takes to pull it off, they totally can beat the game vanilla no cheats.
As to the poster that's saying "omg Nintendo, another memory glitch!?!", you are a joke. Millions have played this game, and beaten just fine. I can't recall one glitch happening in my play through, let alone half swinging at and enemie, pausing and watching a memory 50 times in a row. Get real dude, Nintendo makes fantastic quality games. If the glitch involves doing things no sane person would actually do in the course of playing the game, I don't think it's unreasonable to let it slide. If link constantly one hit killed an enemy if you equipped a certain sword and shield combo than that's something to cry about. This crap isnt.
I have the resin statue of this already. Wish they made a different suit instead. The resin one has her head slightly turned and is larger, but besides that the base and pose are identical.
I love clones of good/great games. If something works, I am all for making more of it to enjoy. With how gaming trends change over the years, and types and styles come and go, the more clones they make or sequels to good games, the more options I have to play in my lifetime.
I love survival horror games, and I always wished that more companies had cloned Resident Evil and Silent Hill during the Ps1 era. We can never have too much of a good game. If you get sick of it now, in ten years there's a chance you can rediscover some of these clones and play them then.
@Sequel I wouldn't count on this figma approaching anywhere near $2000. The medicom figure is a foot tall, has all the different pieces for poses, and has real fabric for the clothing. I love figmas, but the medicom is in a different class. Also figma has done reissues of their zelda figures. It's not guaranteed of course, but people may get another chance at obtaining one in the future.
@Tempestryke I would have loved more animals, but I don't think they suck. I loved the newer DKC games. My only wish is that more levels were as hard as the extra hidden ones in each level. Overall I'd give them a B or B+
@AlphaElite only people who like the game would bother following the developer on Twitter. Since they've already payed, and presumably like the game enough to follow the developer, they're going to be positive towards anything that helps the developer out but doesn't effect the player whose already payed
Metroidvanias and old school survival horror games are two genres that I will always welcome. As another person stated, they don't even need to try and reinvent the wheel, just be good and meaty
2024 announcement, launches 2025. There's no way they will have directs for Zelda, and then a later direct for Metroid which might be a 2024 game or holiday 2023. Then in the midst of all that announce the next console for 2024. Talk about killing potential switch sales for the new Zelda and Metroid. Earliest is 2024 announcement for 2025.
These guys made Vostok Inc, which was an incredible game imo. I just got this game in the mail the other day. Will eventually play it. I have high hopes for it.
@BFahey3 Re2 is considered by many survival horror fans as the best of the best. The n64 version has its own unique differences, but I personally prefer either the ps1 original or Dreamcast version.
Re4 is a great game, but to me it's an action game first. I prefer my RE games to be more old school, rather than what Re4 started the franchise towards, culminating in re6.
So why would people put re2 above re4? Because it is the GOAT duhh
@crudfish I did the same thing. I may have 2 extras in storage at this point. Have you tried putting your account on the second one and seeing if you left the other offline you could have both with your games on them?
@yoda87960 if I were you I would buy a used one now and see if you can move your account to jt and get any digital games on it. I'm sure the price for a wii u will only be going up. If your gamepad works look into seeing if you can pair it with just a console, to save money on buying just the wii u itself.
ZaCiSa eshop games. They're super simple looking, but I had a ton of fun playing them. You mainly use just the gamepad, and you upgrade your base in-between rounds, and then a wave of ships attacks. My #1 pick for overlooked gem. Probably really cheap at this point.
I don't know why they didn't create brand new maps for salmon run. Unless I'm totally miss remembering, but these were all in 2 right? I would have thought they'd have new maps, and then eventually re release the old ones for variety
@StephenFox the trick is to have all 4 players grouped together on a part of the map with only 1 route to it. To concentrate 4 players fire onto the enemies. Unfortunately it's taking everyone a while to re remember this or to learn it, so it becomes instant death and panick and mayhem
@Joeynator3000 the diffuculty is self adjusting. The more you loose, the more your rank drops, the easier it gets. It balances out. I was fluctuating between part time pro and pro+1, and part time is obviously easier. Now I'm at pro +3 and I haven't gotten that better, it's just I've been playing with people who aren't horrible. I'll be pro+4 soon, unless I get stuck with bad groups and go back to part time, since the weekend is over
@GrailUK same with the rumors. I mainly come to this site, and I usually ignore their lame rumor stories. If someone gets all excited from Twitter rumors or wherever this info comes from, that's their own fault.
I came into this direct fresh and with zero demands for what Nintendo "must/needs" to show!!!! Or else!!!
If Fatal Frame gets a physical release in North America, and I don't have to import it, I will be ecstatic. I love survival horror games, so with one included I was a happy camper. The resident evil cloud thing is cool for people who haven't played them, and don't like to own their games Lol.. Chances are people have a ps4 or pc they can already play them on. Playing the RE games portable would be a huge selling point to some, except they're cloud and that idea is killed instantly.
It wasn't an amazing Direct, but pretty good overall. There seemed to be a TON of SquareEnix RPGs, and RPGs in general. Also a bunch of farm type games.
I'm excited for the Fatal Frame game, Zelda, Pikmin, and a few of the rpgs looked interesting. Honestly everything besides the farm games looked fun to me for the most part. I won't play even 1/4 of the games due to time and other games etc. Good direct overall.
@Lusephur I enjoyed the second game. It's been a few years since I played it, but I do remember the story bring you to a hell like place? The gameplay was fun like the first one though. Either way, I didn't regret playing it. Now the most recent game was trash.
The original two games were great. They had just enough of that Resident Evil ps1 feel, but were totally their own games.
Unfortunately, after that crappy Fear Effect game was released a few years ago, I don't have high hopes for this one. I think they'll either make an ok game that looses everything that made the originals so great, or it will be a cluster f like the most recent game was.
I'm only 3 episodes in, and it's not horrible, but I'm not binge watching it either. Plan on finishing it, but I'm not in a rush. Wesker is by far the best actor, loved the actor in The Wire, and basically anything else I've ever seen him in.
@blockfight their 100$/€80 statues are great, but those are usually pvc, like their zelda ones theyve most recently been making. These statues that cost hundreds upon hundreds are night and day comparisons to those, made from resin, and hand painted. They're usually stupidly large and heavy, but atleast you get your money's worth, not really but it seems expensive lol. Their 300 range stuff is usually smaller but really nice.
@Daniel36 I don't know for a fact for this statue, but some of f4f smaller ones where they have a visor lit up etc, the leds are behind a plastic piece . So instead of a full resin sculpture, you'd have a chunk missing replaced with plastic or something. Either way, they need to hollow stuff out to put the leds in somehow. The regular one is just a big hunk of resin, that presumably will have less defects and problems compared to the exclusive. My Bowser statue with leds has them embedded in a see through resin, so I'd assume they'd do that for a bigger sculpture. The Leds don't work reliably tho.
I got in the waiting line around 5-6pm est. After about 45 minutes, when I came back to my pc to check, it was loaded on the store page with a red button to preorder! I was able to get one! Pumped! I also had it loading on my phone. But the page went into "offline". Thank Mario I was home near my pc.
I had a copy in my cart the whole day but couldn't check out. Then at around 5 I was able to start the check out, then halfway through I got the waiting screen. My cart is empty now. I hope I am able to get a copy the second go around.
@arrmixer they usually go by pacific time, but I'm checking at midnight eastern just in case. Possibly 3am eastern if they wait until midnight pacific time. It will probably be a weird time, like 11am. And I will miss it.
@MS7000 If you have played Xenoblade, the combat is roughly the same. If you haven't played the first game I recommend that you do. It took me a while to wrap my head around the combat also. Basically you want to try to get the monster stunned and then it can't attack and it takes more damage etc. You do this by using certain attacks that get the monster ready to be stunned. Then once he's ready to be stunned you use an attack that can actually put him in the stun. It's all color coded, I think green attacks might get the monster towards the stun state and maybe yellow stun it once it can be stunned. I forget. Also I don't think the game calls it stun.
I am currently collecting all PS1 Greatest Hits. I love the green spines. I keep the Greatest Hits seperate from the black labeled games, so it's all green and then all black. I plan on getting a complete collection of both black and Greatest hits

@kennykenny not much help cause I forget the price of the others, but I think it was 100 or less for the others. 89 maybe?

Re: Poll: Budget Line Box Art - Is It 'Fine', Or A Sin Against All That Is Good And Pure?
I am currently collecting all PS1 Greatest Hits. I love the green spines. I keep the Greatest Hits seperate from the black labeled games, so it's all green and then all black. I plan on getting a complete collection of both black and Greatest hits
