Another week begins, but at least those of us in Europe have the Nintendo Download news to cheer up our day. This week's line-up includes some major retail releases, new download-only options across the board (even DSiWare makes an appearance) and a range of DLC, HOME themes and more. Plenty to cover, so let's get on with it.
Wii U eShop
Rock Zombie (EnjoyUp Games, €6.99 / £6.29) — An experience that harks back to some sillier games of generations passed, this is a campy beat 'em up in which you tackle zombies as a rock band, which the game is at pains to emphasize is an all-female band. It's not a classic, but we couldn't help but be a little charmed in our Rock Zombie review.
Wii U Virtual Console
Wild Guns (Natsume, €7.99 / £5.49) — A 16-bit gallery shooter set in a Steampunk Wild West, which is a description that will already have some reaching for their credit card. In our view this is a bit of an under-appreciated classic, as a title that was top of class in its era and allows the mix of manic dodging with gallery shooting to also be enjoyed in co-op. We were full of praise for this in our Wild Guns review. This is the US version of the game.
Natsume Championship Wrestling (Natsume, €7.99 / £5.49) — Completing a Natsume double header on the Wii U Virtual Console this week, here we have a SNES era wrestling game that also supports four player local matches. There are 12 different fighters, and we felt this put up a good fight as we awarded 7/10 in our Wii Virtual Console review; we'll grapple with it once again. This is the US version of the game.
Wii U Retail Downloads
Watch Dogs (Ubisoft, €59.99 / £49.99) — The Wii U iteration of this open-world title has been delayed to such an extent that it'll likely arrive with little fanfare on the system, especially as this is the year's busiest period of game releases. Some have no doubt been waiting, however, and will hope that the action and hacking shenanigans come across well on Nintendo's console; we hope it's not a dog's dinner of a port.
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (Sega, €49.99 / £39.99) — This spin-off universe of Sonic caused a stir earlier in the year, with this Wii U entry being joined by a 3DS game, TV series and merchandise. This adventure platformer wasn't issued pre-release for review and has been attracting some scathing critiques from consumers online, but we'll take a look and figure out whether it's boom or bust for the hedgehog's latest release. Available from 21st November.
Wii U DLC
Two Watch Dogs DLC packs will be available on day one:
Conspiracy (Ubisoft, €4.99 / £3.99) — People aren't always what they seem. In this case, they're cyborgs from space. Don't believe me? Try plugging in the Conspiracy! Digital Trip and we'll talk after. You've got a specific lens to see their real faces. Find them, identify them, and kill them.
Access Granted (Ubisoft, €6.99 / £5.49) — Extend your hacking abilities in 3 new missions. Unlock 6 additional skins and access new powerful perks to increase your control over Chicago.
3DS eShop
101 Pony Pets 3D (Selectsoft, €4.00 / £3.59) — We can't help but be a little concerned when a pet sim has '101' and '3D' in the title, though undoubtedly with a name like that it's targeting faint praise. This one isn't actually horrendous — we damned it with faint praise such as "there are plenty of worse pet-themed titles out there" when awarding it 5/10 in our 101 Pony Pets 3D review.
3DS Virtual Console
Lufia: The Legend Returns (Natsume, €4.99 / £4.49) — This Game Boy Color entry was the third in this particular '90s RPG series, and the first portable iteration. Unsurprisingly you're tasked with saving the world in a "compelling storyline", while there are 12 playable characters — we'll get questing to bring you a review.
3DS Retail Downloads
Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal (Sega, €39.99 / £34.99) — Unlike its Wii U contemporary's departure from standard Sonic fare, this effort from Sanzaru Games employs some of the more recognisable 2D portable norms for the mascot. It does have more exploration, however, while you can also switch between Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and newcomer Sticks to make use of their various abilities. It seemed reasonably encouraging based on its demo, but we'll see how the full game stacks up. Available from 21st November.
Tetris Ultimate (Ubisoft, €19.99 / £15.99) — This entry has unique modes on the 3DS not available on home consoles, with an impressive array or modes and options and a budget price. We'll let you know what we think.
Asterix: The Mansions of the Gods (Bigben Interactive, €34.99 / £29.99)
3DS DLC
Two Shin Megami Tensei IV DLC packs will be available:
Snake Scale Equipment (Atlus, €0.99 / £0.75) — Three Delivery Challenge Quests, each with an armour piece of the add-on-exclusive. Deity Scales set as reward. Note: These Challenge Quests can be accepted early in the game.
Clipped Wings 2 (Atlus, €1.79 / £1.49) — Add add-on-exclusive Challenge Quest to defeat the Archangels Gabriel and Michael. Completing this quest lets you fuse Herald Gabriel and Herald Michael. Note: This quest relates to the main story. Recommended progress: Endgame.
3DS Demo
Asterix: The Mansions of the Gods (Bigben Interactive, free)
3DS HOME Themes
Pokémon: ONEMURI Pikachu (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79)
Pokémon: Primal Groudon/Primal Kyogre (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79)
Sonic Boom Theme (Nintendo, free)
Super Mario: Pastel Pink (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79)
Super Mario: Neon Green (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79)
Super Mario: Blue (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79)
3DS eShop Temporary Discounts
Wakedas (Circle Entertainment, €1.99 / £1.79 until 11th December, normally €2.99 / £2.50)
World Conqueror 3D (Circle Entertainment, €3.99 / £3.59 until 11th December, normally €4.99 / £4.49)
3DS eShop Promotion
Darts Up 3D (EnjoyUp Games, €0.49 / £0.45 if you already downloaded Darts Up on Nintendo eShop for Wii U and have linked your Nintendo 3DS and Wii U with the same Nintendo Network ID. Normally €2.99 / £2.69)
DSiWare
Around the World in 80 Days (DSiWare, 800 Nintendo Points) — When a fresh DSiWare title appears you can be sure that's it's either a match-3 title or hidden object game. This is the former, so we'll get cracking to let you know how it stacks up against the 1,357 other games of its type on the service.

Is that a legit wii u watch dogs screen shot?
So they're giving that Sonic theme for free too? Nice. Will download that. Watchdogs is having a laugh though- no doubt Ubisoft will say players haven't supported the system blah blah blah. I'll pick it up when it's going at about £10 which by the looks of it won't be long.
@NauticalCrimes It's a promo shot, so no.
I would only consider Watch Dogs at a huge discount at this point, or possibly as a GotY edition that includes all DLC, but those prices are a joke!
Nothing for me this week except the free Sonic theme (voted before I noticed it was free), was hoping for Mario Kart Super Circuit but the Mario Kart 8 DLC is so great that waiting longer is fine.
Oh dang, we're getting Lufia! I totally assumed it would be one of those games that would get announced and then take years to arrive haha
EDIT: Is this version actually good though?
@ThomasBW84 how can a game be less than 12 hours from release and there not be a single screen shot available?
This does not bode well.
Upside: We are actually getting the Watch Dogs DLC.
Downside: They're charging full-price for stuff that should really be reduced on account of us having waited so long.
Someone remind me why i should watch dogs again!
Nothing.
Was hoping that Hyrule Warriors DLC would be out this week. Oh well, one more week won't hurt.
I voted Wild Guns even though i'm not exactly interested in playing. I just like steampunk stuff!
@BoltedArc It's a rental at best. Ubi does not deserve full price!
I thought ubisoft said the Wii U version of Watch Dogs wasn't getting any dlc?
So we do get DLC for Watch Dogs just not the big one. Still getting it people are only saying it's terrible because they overhype things. If it has the qualities of a good open world game than i love it, at this point i don't really care about how a story is told if people are saying it's mediocre
Nothing for me this week...
No thanks, saving my wallet for smash.
I can't see Watch Dogs selling anything other than abysmally. Hopefully Ubisoft realise their own role in any poor sales. That said, it's great to see that they've offered the DLC, seeing as that's a common complaint for other games on the system... not that I'll be buying...
watch_dogs price is outrageous.
ubisoft is trying hard to not sell the game.
Wait so watch dogs is getting DLC now, I can't believe we have stil not seen a single video yet. It's laughable on Ubisofts part. They are the worst game developers ever
Just all the themes minus pink.
I'm guessing that DSIware game is not the same as the fantastic 80 Days on IOS. Nothing for me this week.
WatchDogs at that price?. It's already cheaper in other consoles.
It should have been discounted. I'll wait just like I did with Assasin's Creed
@PinkSpider they're still cool just make a lot of bad decisions. I think they were referring to just Bad Blood not every pack missing on Wii U it at least has the early DLC. I knew for a while it had the pre order bonus
Nothing for me this week but Dragon Age I comes out on Friday anyway so that will eat up all my time.
I will try Asterix (I loved the Konami Asterix game),
If people are going to criticise Ubisoft for Watch Dogs they need to do the same to Yatch Club. In Europe we got Shovel Knight 6 months after it was available on Steam and they charged full price. People won't though, they just love to bash Ubisoft for making logical business decisions. Watch Dogs would have sold terribly regardless. Just look at Black Flag for the proof.
@whodatninja oh i wasn't going to pay for this pile-o-crap, it wasn't great on Ps4 and for 60$ just to wait 6 months later and pay for dlc SEPERATELY! UBISOFT you dun f***** it up, that ominous nail thats been sitting by the coffin while the other's have been hammered in! Yeah ubi just, no don't put the nail in the coffee can ,nope grab it, thats the last one ubi, hey Heey don't you run from me! You started it now go finish it after that kick rocks!
@NauticalCrimes screenshots were posted recently this month along with its file size. Without any gameplay videos we can assume they're legit
Still no Demon's Crest...
@Mega719 thanks, I've found those now. Looks ... interesting. Really hard to get any information from them at all. I'm looking forward to seeing the videos start to pop up as of tomorrow. I'd love to see a comparison between the various platforms.
@Peach64 shovelknight was only on pc till it was developed for wiiu & watchdogs released for every console except WiiU until 6 months later. Yacht club didn't release shovelknight for other consoles then 6 mnths later WiiU.
UBI mugged if you pay that price
Watch Dogs is NOT a bad game, yeah, yeah, you can complain about Ubi, but in reality it's just as much Nintendo's fault for screwing up the Wii U's launch and scaring away more mature gamers.
It's a good title if your looking for an open world, GTA like title....hopefully they incorporated some gamepad use.
UBI ripped off
@Ootfan98 lol i agree
Pissed off with Ubisoft at the moment. Playing AC: Rogue on the Xbox (sssh) at the moment - but just WISHING it was on Wii U. AC3 & 4 were THE BEST VERSIONS thanks to the gamepad map and miiverse (for when you get stuck) and a consistent framerate which made it a total delight to play.
@sub12 you're right its not bad but it ain't all that great either! Ubi should have spent more time in development and less in advertising!
Super Smash Bros for Wii U?!?!?! What about those nintendolifers that will download that?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?! Lol
@Peach64 Kind of different because Shovel Knight needed to be localised and rated for the EU. Ubisoft singled out a platform to delay the game on, the other versions released in the EU as scheduled. Not sure why you're even trying to make this comparison.
@Peach64
Yacht Club doesn't have enough funds for the localization. Ubi does have the resources. Plus not a single screenshot or gameplay vid? Did Yacht Club also said they won't be supporting the Wii U anymore like Ubi said they won't make mature games on the Wii U? Plus it's a different situation. Although the Shovel Knight delay is still unacceptable.
I'll check out watchdogs the wiiu version to see if they did anything different or added some new features besides a map on the game pad and i will check for quality but i will still pass on this probably just cause smash is coming and im enjoying MK8 dlc and bayo 2 surprisingly also sportsball is sleeper hit IMO!
@TheGreatBrawler Us Europeans have to wait an extra week for Smash Wii U.
@Peach64 Shovel Knight is $19.50 on the Australian eShop. Watch Dogs is $79.95. Shovel Knight will be updated with free new content as they finish & release it. Watch Dogs comes with day 1 paid DLC. You do the math.
@Mega719 cool!!! Ha ha ha ha
They really aernt cool if they were a lesser known company doing the things they do like releasing assassins creed unity the way it is, they would be dead in the water. They are a joke company. How can you release a game in 3 days and have no trailer or gameplay avalible for it. Hope there conpany go bust
I'm gonna wait for watch dogs to be I some kind of sale before buying it. Was initially really excited about it, and even when it was delayed with the promise of the Wii u version being the definitive version I wasn't bothered. Now I'm completely 'meh' about it. Also, Smash next week.... Kind of makes me wonder if Ubisoft actually want to sell this at all!
@sub12 yea blame nintendo for all the bad third party ports and delays. Everything is Nintendo's fault. Your a clown
Ubisoft are absolute scumbags. (They are like I remember EA was but isn't as much any more).
(They are also liars having specifically stated that if an Assassins Creed game wasn't ready it would be delayed).
@G0dlike ubisoft don't care mate, after this they will be done with Wii U except for there Crap dance franchise
Considering it's inexplicable delay — and the fact that they somehow think they can get away with charging an extortionate fifty quid for it — Ubisoft should be throwing that Watch Dogs DLC in for free. Scandalous!
Whoever buys watchdogs is a clown beyond help in my book.
Im sorry if i offended everyone, but to be absolutely honest, supporting UbiSoft with any sort of purchase at this point is simply a stupid idea.
Their lates AC travesty is just a huge middle finger, their consumer relationship came to the point where they are calling gamers "terrorists" and their games quality is sunken even past EAs standarts.
Honestly, buying their stuff is burrying this industry one shovel at a time.
Back on Topic:
Wild Guns
Lufia
And probably Tetris Ultimate for me.
Also the SMT4 DLC
@Peach64 What about if my critiscism for Watch Dogs is the price. £50 when it can be found for £20 on any other system is the textbook definition of sent to die (but that was the whole idea, as they now have an excuse to no longer port M rated games to Wii U). If we look at Shovel Knight. It has yet to go on sale on any platform (the cross-buy promotion is the closet thing to a sale).
Watch Dogs for WiiU has been ready for month, they just haven't released it. And keeping the price that high, the sales will be bad and now SSB coming out (after that people have already spent their money on HW, Bayo and MK DLC )
Not with that price, no thank you. I'll just wait. Besides, I'm still playing HW like mad, now MK8 DLC is out and even haven't touch Bayo's (1 and 2) and still theres SSB waiting to take my money XD
As for Ubisoft. Raymans are great (and Child of Light).. but seriously. The amount of bugs their games have, AC being extremely great example (I don't know should I laugh or cry when I've watched clips of bugs on Unity). I bet first time wee see WD on sale will be after Christmas.
it's almost like AC is meant to be always full of bugs so we can have a laugh
With all of the hate for Ubisoft, I would like to take a moment to thank them for AC Black Flag on the WiiU.
@PinkSpider You mean people are buying Just Dance 2015? Last I heard the sales were appealing this time around, with over half the sales on the Wii, which was still only a small number. I wouldn't be surprised if Ubisoft stopped porting games to Nintendo altogether.
@ThomasBW84 look what you started! Watchdogs shouldn't have been mentioned! Joking of course!
I won't touch Watchdogs on my gaming PC nor would I on my Xbox One and PS4. I think Rayman is great along with ZombiU, but Watchdogs was bad when it came out half a year ago.
I'm sure Ubisoft will blame us for the game flopping though.
I am tempted to get the game to sort of show I want to see more games sort of like it.
@Peach64 I get what you're saying but the classification over here in Europe is notoriously difficult, we've heard many titles delayed over here because of it.
@sub12 I agree with you, so many people here are quick to blame UBI or EA for the poor sales of the Wii U yet would not dare speak foul of Nintendo. Remember when they said they were all about the core gamer and launched with Nintendoland, and New Super Mario Bros. U and then we have UBI release those casual games like ZombieU and Assassin's Creed 3 (yeah I know they did Just Dance too).
People need to realize that Nintendo fluffed up just as much (if not more) with the Wii U. From a poor first party software offering at launch (even though they said they learnt their mistakes from the 3DS launch) to lack of advertising for the system or it's games. Case in point when I'm watching Sky or BT sports all I see is adverts for Halo MCC or Sunset Overdrive AND NOT ONE ADVERT FOR SMASH BROS (3DS)!!
I thought they stated that Watch Dogs wouldn't be coming with DLC.
@taffy I have seen Nintendo adverts as well lately. Here in America anyway. Bayonetta 2 conmercials. And I forget the other ones, but there's definitely one or two more at least.
@Einherjar Yep couldn't agree more. I fell for the hype and how they treated PC players with watch dogs was just a joke. I am not into the AC game but after Unity and hearing bad things about the beta for the crew I have stop supporting them though I do hate it that Rayman is a ubi game.
I was so looking forward to Far Cry 4 but after Watch Dogs and the Mess that was AC:U I have decided to not get it even though I loved 1, 2 and 3. I am one of the few that loves 2 over 3 even though I know FC3 is a much better game overall.
And for Smash - There's no question that the Wii U version is the definitive version, which will be the one they advertise mostly. However, considering the fact that Smash Wii U has the highest number of pre-orders of a game to date (for Wii U anyway), they don't exactly need to advertise it yet. I'm sure ads will start popping up after launch or at launch and go in through the holiday season and beyond. Along with more Mario Kart 8 ads.
@FragRed they wouldn't be missed, its a shame people get pulled in by there crap.
@SilentHunter382 Regarding Rayman: Just remember how the Ubi higher ups treated the team, that gets you fed up with that pretty quickly too.
As for the IP, yes, its a sad loss but i wouldnt want to have another Rayman game if it had that level of quality.
Wild Guns is fantastic
@taffy Nintendo make mistakes but they don't release shoddy games with missing features and full of glitches and charge a premium for extra content There's no comparison to Nintendo and ubisoft lol!
@Einherjar - Can you make that rant and then say you are buying Tetris at the end? It is being published by Ubi
I hope NCW makes it to NA. I loved that game and still have a copy of it but I'd enjoy playing some 4 player wrestling again and it was a great game for snes era wrestling
@Peach64
It also seems to be OK when Nintendo delay Captain Toad in Europe for no reason or delay the New 3DS into 2015 while offloading the old ones onto the mass market at Christmas. Double standards.
"we hope it's not a dog's dinner of a port". Probably still better than AC Unity.
"whether it's boom or bust for the hedgehog's latest release". Of course it will be a bust, it's a modern Sonic game
bring lufia the legend returns to the 3ds vc in the US
@electrolite77 Generations is a great Sonic game though.
@electrolite77 With regards to Captain Toad being delayed here in Europe until January, that is a really stupid decision and I still can't figure out why they are doing it.
I wonder if the pre-orders for Captain Toad were only small in comparison to the US. It's just a thought, but it's the only thing that springs to mind.
As long as reviews of Watch Dogs Wii U are at least equivalent to the reviews on other consoles, I will consider buying it sometime, but definently when there is a discount.
I held off on Watch Dogs partly because of the Wii U version. Will be interested to see how it holds up against the 360/PS3 versions. At least they bothered with the DLC, although it's a shame you have to pay for them, considering the massive delay.
I have waited for watch dogs to come to wiiu but disappointed there is no multiplayer with it. I wont but it though until the price is reduced as I can buy it for ps4 for £20 and in all honesty that is the better one of the two
Let's cue Ubisoft complaining about the 2 copies they sold on Wii U.
Woohoo! Wild Guns!! I'll pick it up when I can. I've heard good things about the Lufia games but have never played them myself so a review to find out if this is a good game to start with. I'll try for some more themes too. Tetris Ultimate when I can & I want to get the Sonic Boom games too, eventually.
Tetris Ultimate reminded me that I wanted to pick up Tetris DS, which I now did. Awesome game.
That sleeping Pikachu theme is beyond adorbs! So cute!
@manu0 Also cue Ubisoft complaining how few Tetris Ultimate copies they sold and that they are to stop supporting the 3DS.
I thought Watch Dogs wasn't getting any DLC on Wii U. Like, at all.
omg we better get those pokemon themes in NA!!
Lufia GBC for me. It's really a good RPG !
As if anybody is going to download watchdogs and at that price. It'll be 7.99 by March just like all the other ubisoft games
The cheek of ubisoft, day 1 dlc for a game thats been out elsewhere for months, they can do one, no chance of me picking it up now
Wild Guns and maybe tetris ultimate on 3ds. Though not sure about latter as i already have a good tetris game downloaded onto my 3ds
17% for Watch Dogs downloads? Haha, filthy casuals..
Nothing for me this week. Guess that gives me time to complete the adventure map on Hyrule Warriors...
@ThomasBW84 have you actually had a review copy of watchdogs yet?
@PinkSpider We are reviewing it, I'm expecting a copy very soon.
@ThomasBW84 I just find the whole release of this game very odd
@Mega719
Out of curiosity, have you played Lego City Undercover? I am thinking about picking it up.
When are we getting Super Mario Advance for Wii U?
huh we are getting DLC. Well then I won't be getting it this month since I'm broke but I'll get it next month. The game is nothing special but I need my glitchy Ubisoft open world fix and I'm on the fence about the new ac games.
@Peach64 shovel knight is still the same price and they are not a big company. They made a awesome game that would be worth waiting for. They had real reasons to delay it in other parts of the world versus Ubisoft just screwing with us.
This would have been a perfect week to release Hyrule Warriors DLC. SSB arrives to Europe next week and I won't bother for a few months after that. Pretty much all the best games of the year (expect for DKC TF that came out in February) have been released after September. I don't have enough time to 100% finish them before the next release arrives.
@Grumblevolcano
Yeah good point. My mistake. I should have said 'modern 3D Sonic game'
@Ryu_Niiyama this is the reason the games industry is the way it is, people are willing to buy glitchy, buggy incomplete games.
@FragRed
Maybe that's it but they announced the delay a while back. It really should have made a Euro release. Delays like that give long-term European Nintendo players like myself terrifying flashbacks to the N64/gamecube years!
I'm also disappointed that there wasn't a discount for Sonic Lost World now that they've released the new games. That could've eaten the new games´ sales but retail title discounts are too rare on Wii U anyways.
Wow! This week is amazing because of Wild Guns and Lufia. This was my first RPG (played on the SNES) and I've never played the GameBoy one. I'll give it a try.
Oh... And Tetris, man. Tetris. I'll never grow tired of it.
Yeah guys wahoo first day DLC for Watch Dogs,pay more for a terrible port.Congrats give more money to Ubisoft,cause they deserve it with what they did to Wiiu owners and this game.
@Hero-of-WiiU
Great game. I really enjoyed it. Made decent use of the game pad.
Oh for a second there I thought those themes were the names of games and I was like, "Nintendo, since when did you allow fangames on your shop?"
I want to make fun of you, Europeans, for not getting smash this week. But I can't get over the fact that you have the great MM limited edition and don't.
Personally, I'm surprised we get DLC at all. Does anyone know the name of the DLC where you play as one of the support characters?
@electrolite77 @Peach64 I bash Yacht Club (and Nintendo with Cap Toad) for that constantly. Look at my history
Chill out people, all this effort complaining about a title you're not going to buy. Focus on what you're buying.
@Punished_Boss_84 lol ,awesome just awesome
Not buying Watch Dogs simply because I've played it and didn't like it at all.
I want to play the Asterix game! Probably won't arrive in NA
@FragRed Because NoE doesn't want to release any games in December. Which they managed to do now, so congrats to NoE.
I also wonder of those recent delays in Europe are caused by the layoffs.
Strange that Wild guns is one of the most expencive games for the snes collectors yet it's not all that with reviews.
@markybbop did u say no multiplayer?
@Hero-of-WiiU LEGO City Undercover is a great game. The storyline will keep you entertained for hours and hours. The cutscenes are well directed and full of [maybe corny] humor. And if you are a completionist, you'll have many more hours of fun after the story is finished.
@midnafanboy
Glad you played it first so you know how bad a port it is.
@markybbop
I never heard of online play being missing. Source?
I'm surprised no one brought this mixed message up. http://www.gonintendo.com/s/238109-watch-dogs-not-getting-dlc-on-wii-u
@Peach64 The correlation between Watch_Dogs and Shovel Knight isn't get, both deserve criticism but Ubi take the piss in all honesty.
Great to see that watch dogs is finally coming, along with the DLC. Although at this point I think the DLC should be free.
If any of the themes this week actually make it over to NA I might pick up one or two of them. Other than that nothing interests me and I can't afford anything after the bankruptcy I suffered from SSB and AS.
@Gerbwmu Really ? I seriously didnt know that. I thought EA was managing the rights at the moment ? Well, then scratch that from the list
EDIT: Well, its even mentioned on the list. My bad, i just looked at the title, as Tetris really doesnt need an explaination
The main thing I give Ubisoft flak for is shooting themselves in the foot three times. I highly doubt delaying Rayman Legends gave them more sales, they denied that Zombii U was ever getting patched, which I imagine caused interest to wane even further, and most recently they denied that Watch Dogs was getting DLC.
I know making game sales on Nintendo platforms can be a crapshoot sometimes but what did they have to gain by saying a feature won't be present when it will?
Has anyone seen a review of watchdogs for WiiU yet on any site?
Its released in four days in UK and I have had it on pre-order since day one. I am in two minds to cancel it and was holding out for a review prior to release so I could make up my mind.
Is there anything anywhere that shows the WiiU version of Watchdogs?
Lastly this DLC is this now the same as other consoles or is there DLC that we haven't got as I believed we weren't getting any?
@Specter_Twilight so you don't mind paying full retail on a game that sells for 20 to 30$ on the market, may lack online multiplayer which is supposed to be part of the main experience and pay for dlc! You sir/madam are hardcore!
@Peach64 What? So you're saying that a game being released for full (£50) price by a major publisher that's coming 6 months later than every other platform (and is now readily available to buy on those platforms for £20 max) and doesn't even include the original DLC packs (they're charging extra for them) is the same as a small download only game by an indie company that was funded on Kickstarter and only being sold for £12.99, that was only delayed in Europe because of localisation problems?
That's one of the most absurd comparisons I've ever seen.
@electrolite77 Don't be ridiculous, Captain Toad is only delayed by a single month in Europe and isn't already available on every other platform out there (for much cheaper) like Watch Dogs, its nowhere near the same kind of thing. And nobody's forcing anybody to buy an original 3DS now the New 3DS is coming out, it's not like it's some kind of big secret that there's an improved model on the way and people can wait until after Xmas if they want.
"we hope it's not a dog's dinner of a port". Probably still better than AC Unity.
Well, that's debateable isn't it? No confirmed Wii U screenshots so far, and no reviews so far. And this is even coming from someone who owns AC Unity on PS4 and doesn't think it's all that bad.
@brandonbwii i don't think its hard to make sales on the nintendo system i think companies expect consumers to buy whatever hits the shelf, crap ports and all but nintendo doesn't release half baked games if it isn't ready they come out and say it but these businesses believe we should accept the limitations they set on the nintendo hardware which i believe is below what it can do hence they shove the 360 port at us instead of optimizing the game or redeveloping the game for the system. If nintendo doesn't shove craptastic games at us what makes these businesses believe im going to buy theirs?
@Specter_Twilight Watch Dogs wasn't really delayed. I think it was ready at the same time or shortly after it wasn't released for the other consoles. Ubisoft refused to release it until Wii U sales got better (ie. the holiday season).
Localization is different than a company delaying a game when it is ready.
If you want to buy watchdogs buy it, at the end of the day it's you're money but the only thing you're doing, if the game is a crap port is supporting the idea that developers can sell you half the game at full retail at any given time because you voted with your wallet!
Finally some watch dogs hope the wii u version is good.
@Specter_Twilight It's also our prerogative as consumers to not buy their product when we see so little effort and value put into it. The ideal was to add value to their game so it would feel like a solid purchase for the consumers at this point in time. Devalueing the price tag would be another acceptable solution. When Ubisoft has not bothered to do neither, they end up releasing a game in November 2014 that's just not competitive enough in the current Wii U scene.
I don't think I'm alone in thinking this way. Good thing we won't have to wait too long for some nosedive price drop.
@Einherjar - I'd still get it if you have a Tetris itch that needs scratched. Personally I fully support people buying good games they like regardless of the platform or publisher. If Ubi delivers a ZombiU 2 that corrects some of the slight issues with the 1st, I'd buy it. Right now they have nothing to offer me though....except maybe Watch Dogs when it inevitably goes on sale for $9.99 on Amazon. Even then I might have a better use for the $10
@Gerbwmu Im a little more critical when it comes to stuff like that.
As a consumer, the only way to show your dismay is to "vote with your wallet"
and UbiSofts current politics regarding their own consumers are definitly not ok.
If i have a craving for tetris, there are more than enough ways to play it already. Therefore, it wont hurt me in the slightest, and that pretty much goes for anything UbiSoft has to offer at the moment.
Like i said earlier, the only thing that might hurt would be another Rayman release, but even then, im rather strict. I wont support them, no matter what.
so it only costs 60 plus pounds for an after thought of a video game? ubisoft, you guys are the greatest!
Full retail price for Watch Dogs....how dare they...
after smash sells a couple of million copies in its first weekend these douchebags will be begging for a bit of the action
So does anyone know if Thomas is under embargo for WD for the WiiU? Like AC unity was!
@Samurai_Goroh I didn't look at the price of Watch Dogs until now. $59 (I'm assuming) is ridiculous for a game that launched almost 6 months ago on every other console. At $59 the DLC should be included. Currently the prices for Watch Dogs are around $38 for all other consoles. Ubisoft could at least drop the price to $40. I'll definitely wait to purchase Watch Dogs.
@Hero-of-WiiU yeah it's great, since it's the first time they worked on an open world game for Wii U it does suffer from long loading times and doesn't have off tv but don't let that discourage you from buying it. They fixed their problems with the next game and did well ever since
@midnafanboy we get it you don't like the game but mist people want to experience it on Wii U so how about you get this version before bashing it on every article
heard some awful things about AC unity too, more bugs than a museum of entomology
I honestly think that the reason Watch Dogs delayed so long is that Ubisoft is incapable of developing a functioning game. I think that given the option, they would have delayed all the releases on both Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed: Unity. Basically anything they make gets a six month cool down period for me. That way they can fix the mess they release and most likely the price will be $29.99 or less by then.
Sort of sad, as I loved their Gamecube era work such as Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Beyond Good & Evil.
I'm definitely getting Watch_Dogs purely as I purposely held off to play it on Wii U and am trying to collect most Wii U retail titles (I nearly have 50 thus far), I also have a Hauppauge HDPVR 1 so can record some 720p gameplay if you guys (and gals) would like?
@ToxieDogg
How is it ridiculous? Toad is delayed for no other reason than Nintendo felt like delaying it. It's a finished game and they're holding it back. Given the barren release schedule they've got it's a crazy thing to do.
The 3DS move is hugely cynical. They aren't selling the existing machine to people who closely follow the video gaming news this Christmas. They are selling it to the present-buying massmarket, like my colleague who didn't know the 'Tamagotchi Life' game his daughters friends are playing at school wouldn't work on his daughters DS Lite. Those people will buy 3DS consoles and then their kids will want the new one when it appears. Nintendo know exactly what they're doing. Despite the unquestioning love some on here hold for them they're just as capable of indefensible commercial cynicism as anyone else.
AC Unity doing well saddens me. The likes of Bayonetta 2 flop whereas broken games like Unity, Drive Club and Halo MCC sell. That tells the industry to not bother finishing their games, just put the betas out. Nintendo and others polish their games to a proper finish but must wonder why they bother. Gamers who buy it have lost their right to complain about any other games being shoddy down the line, including Watch Dogs on Wii U.
Well at least the Wii U version does still have the multiplayer and in game chat as in other versions. The eshop page confirms this
I'll be picking up LEGO Batman 3 this week, but am tempted by Watch Dogs instead (just finished AC 3 + 4, so liking Ubisoft just now).
@electrolite77 The Captain Toad delay is likely for strategic placement. Europe isn't getting Kirby in February like the US is, so they likely delayed Captain Toad there to even out the dry periods.
Unity doing well essentially means that people keep falling for the hype and marketing by preordering the game. The preorder culture in the industry is why games like AC Unity happen - they already know people are getting the game, so why bother finishing it? Games rarely sell out anyway, especially major AAA titles like AC. Only the niche games like Bayonetta 2 have a chance to sell out. Halo MCC selling well was a given - it's Halo, and four of them at that! People just need to stop preordering games like that unless they fully trust the publisher (and even then, it's not the best idea).
Lmao!!! look at all the hypocrites who said they weren't going to buy watchdog...and now all of a sudden it's a great game lmao.
You nitendo fanboys really are something else.... its like mixing vodka and milk you make me sick to my stomach.
@VictahVonDoom Vodka / Milk and Bread (Blended together) is a good breakfast.
@unrandomsam don't acknowledge the elephant in the room it's just gonna ask for more peanuts!
60€? yah, i dont think so...
@Mega719 Hey there don't go after me,cause it's true friendo.And you know it hehehe,but this is sad though.Not for me for you cause you keep defending this game,cause the port has online and game chat.WOW i wonder who you're going to play with, when no one bought it and everyone is playing smash bros.
@brandonbwii You honestly think they tried on this port? Really?If you do then you must be mad.
As one who isn't a huge fan of the AC-series, will Watch Dog appeal to me?
I am really fan of stealth-games, but always found AC-series to be..... not really good at it. I dont hate them, I had fun and think they are well-crafted games, but always felt like I should have waited for a price-drop.
The first games had a broken combat that made stealth kinda... useless, when I was literally one-man army (counterattack), while 3 and 4 had better combat, but focused less on stealth.
I think the only way Ubisoft can convince us to buy Watchdogs on the wiiu would be for them to release a demo that is able to show any improvements there may be on the wiiu version. Its much cheaper now on other systems and a lot of people have multiple systems even if it is a wiiu and a last gen PS360 combo so they really need to prove why we should pay full on the wiiu.
@IceClimbers
Yeah, I thought of that, Doesn't make me feel any better though that Game A is getting delayed because Game B is. In fact the flashbacks are coming, soon I'll be rocking back and forth saying "no I don't mind waiting two years for Animal Crossing, or a year for Excitebike 64! I didn't want to play Super Mario RPG or Excitebots anyway!"
Good point about pre-ordering. Some publishers are getting really complacent and pre-orders only encourage them.
@midnafanboy
What I THINK, does not mean it's fact. It has all the features of other platforms and the jury's still out on how it runs. Don't knock it just because the publisher has made iffy decisions. People with this line of thought is the reason even great 3rd party games don't sell well on Nintendo platforms.
@brandonbwii And poor ports is the reason third party games sell like crap and i'm not saying there's not any good ports of third party games i'm not.But this game, i don't know i played this didn't buy this trash, but played it congrats it's great for a port.Too bad this port was destined to fail.
Nothing for me this week. Was hoping to see the GBA castlevanias start their PAL release.....oh well maybe next week.
@PinkSpider If I waited for a non buggy game I'd have to boycott Bethesda as well. I like the worlds that Ubi builds and most (not all though) of the game mechanics. Few devs match Nintendo in technical prowess (for lack of glitches though I respect their level of detail as well) so I can either stop buying other games not made by nintendo or accept the game for what it is. I'd rather play games. That includes the smaller devs as well. In a perfect world all games would have glitches that were hard to find (that is what i mean by nintendo and technical prowess...many of their glitches you have to go off the intended path to find anyway) but since that is impossible (some devs just don't have the money or staff experience to squash all bugs) I but what I like instead.
Where is this free Sonic theme then???
As much as I want to support you guys, don't put up ads that show completely irrelavant articles. Seriously, poo powered bus? I don't care!
@andyg1971 Themes always take a while to update for some reason, maybe to calm server load if a bigger game comes out on the same day.
Still no Sonic theme???
