Original Article:
When it comes to safe bets, taking a game format that's been loved for well over a decade, the world's most popular toy brand and one of the biggest sci-fi IPs is right up there among the best. Of course, sometimes big projects that 'can't fail' do struggle, but despite multiple delays it seems LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been a resounding success for all involved.
It helps that the end result is darn good, of course, and there's been evidence of strong launch sales in some regional charts, but now publisher Warner Bros. Games has stated it's had the 'biggest launch in LEGO Game history'.
It's a welcome result for TT Games, too, the development studio that delayed the game multiple times and also had to face the music with allegations of crunch and a poor working culture in the past. Now that The Skywalker Saga has proven a sales success and has been well received, it'll be interesting to see what comes next from the studio that's built its entire business on the LEGO license.

I picked up the game and have played through both the OT and the PT, and am now just starting VII. I think the game is... good. It's not as good as the classic games IMO. It seems like they're going for quantity over quality, and end up reusing certain boss fights and puzzles. Some of the missions are an absolute drag to complete as well. I'm gonna do a full review of it later on, but so far it's just been a fine experience.
To be more exact, it sold 3.2 million copies in 2 weeks.
Me : NO
I never like Star Wars, Marvel heroes, Spiderman, Harry Potter, etc.
I never like Too popular Western franchises like that.
I only like LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER as the only LEGO game I played for three times on Wii U, Switch and PS4 (+ 3DS version as well) for having Normal looking folks.
I really wish TT Fusion stop picking too popular Western franchises for next LEGO games.
I really want to play LEGO games without too popular Western franchises, just Normal and Natural looking LEGO such as LEGO Sports, LEGO World Builder (better version of LEGO World), LEGO Dance, LEGO Party, LEGO Tri Races, LEGO Agents, LEGO Farm, etc.
Finally got my Deluxe, but talking to some friends, they have had a lot of crashes and strange things going on. Like one level not having any people just guns where the people should be, and crashing out a few times. (On Switch)
So I think I'll hold off for a bit, got a backlog to go through
@Anti-Matter That's fine but unfortunately those games would just not sell as well as the branded games.
Imagine if there was a Lego Dance Dance Revolution though
@Bunkerneath What system? No real issues here (Xbox Series X). It is occasionally a slog, but it's Star Wars so it's fun.
Would like them to do a similar openworld revamp of the Wizarding World, but would take years (and of course there'd be all sorts of drama).
@AndyC_MK111 Also the franchises are extremely popular for real world lego sets!
Of course it did, how could it fail....... Lego and Star wars..... Kaching!!! Loving the game and an absolute must for any gamer apart from the few who live in a galaxy far far away!
@AndyC_MK111 And let's face it, we're never going to get Lego Dune.
@Kiz3000
They have ever made LEGO Rock Band, but i don't even like the songlist as the song choices are too mainstream (American choices) and i don't like too mainstream songs like that.
That's why i like DDR for having very interesting or unusual musics that only Japanese peoples know how to make better music for rhythm games. I believe mainstream Western artist will never make songs like MAX 300, Fascination MAXX, PARANOiA songs, CHAOS, Healing-D-Vision, Over the Period, ENDYMION, etc because these songs are very unique and challenging for rhythm games.
How about now @Anti-Matter piqued your interest 😉
LE(t's)GOOOOOOOO!
The lego DLC in Forza Horizon 4 is also pretty fun (sorry, wrong website).
@AndyC_MK111
I would like to see they make LEGO games without using popular franchises for once (I think LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER was the example). I don't think it will be a bad idea.
It's very risky decision but I believe it will cater the other audiences who have no interest with too popular franchises just like me.
And that's why i do not like to follow the nowadays society with too many peoples liking the popular franchises that I will never like them at all, it just made me felt irritated.
I never like Star Wars.
I never like Marvel heroes.
I never like Spiderman, Superman, Batman, etc.
What the heck are they? 😒
@AndyC_MK111 They post the same nonsense in most posts, there's not much point engaging with them.
@Anti-Matter LEGO City Undercover is an underrated gem. If you're a PS4/5 owner, it's frequently on sale for 5 bucks. Grab it
@sleepinglion
I already played LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER for three times on Wii U, Switch and PS4 (including the 3DS version) and I still like to continue the progress even after finished the storyline. 😏
@MightyDemon82
Nope.
Still don't like everything from Star Wars, even there was a six pack dudes over there.
I already have six pack Chase McCain from LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER.
Lego Battlestar Galactica would be amazing. For me.
It's the post-game where everything really starts to sing. Trying to find all the thousand or so doodads by solving puzzles and running mini-missions is all kinds of fun. It reminds me of the Mario Odyssey endgame.
I have absolutely loved my time with this game so far. We are taking it slow and just started A New Hope (after finishing the Prequel Trilogy). I could see putting upwards of 100 hours into this game when it is all said and done.
I should think so. A lego game based on an 9 film saga and star wars no less. Of course it's gonna sell! Still waiting for lego back to the future or Ghostbusters.
I haven’t picked it up yet. Curious if the Deluxe Edition comes back into stock.
@Anti-Matter I agree with you. I wanted to see a LEGO Castle game. You could play as knights, wizards, dragons, etc. Sort of like Dungeons and Dragons, but generic.
I 100% finished Lego City and loved it. Wish there was a part 2.
A generic game, though, would have to be self funded. No Disney nor Warner Bros. money.
It’s much better than the other Lego games. So much detail and effort went into this. I even rushed through the awful sequel trilogy levels because the game was a lot of fun.
I got it but it struggles on the switch. I do miss the old style of gameplay with the almost side scrolling diorama like puzzles
This one is more of a goofy 3rd person action, it's fun, but I don't love it as much as the other Lego games
Still happy with my Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga for Wii.
I played one episode and that's it...
...
I want to play more but the game says no and keeps crashing/freezing on me.
@Joeynator3000 Do you have the Switch version?
@Tandy255 Yeah, but from what I'm hearing almost all of the versions have this issue.
Wonder the sales breakdown.
3.2 million units sold with another million well on the way.
@AndyC_MK111 imagine a Mario rpg akin to old school paper Mario but Lego.
