i think I'm with @Dr_Lugae on this one. nintendo need to make money to stay alive. i don't want to see them become just a software dev like so many people have predicted for a very long time now.
@samuelvictor @ThanosReXXX well I guess if a mobile phone can do vr the switch can too. maybe this type of very basic vr could be a good test of concept.
@rjejr I play splatoon daily and yes there is lots of Japanese players but im never left waiting for a match, its allways instant. then again im in Australia so there is not much time difference to japan so maybe just more people on when I play.
I love the joy cons but think that "make or break" will be down to the games. On the vr note, after doing a bit of looking around i really don't think we can expect to see vr with the switch specs. hopefully switch 2.0?
@SuperWeird I really like the idea of a new console every couple of years in the switch family with full backwards compatibility. I hope you are right!
i think it is a good idea to space out the major IPs throughout the year. this keeps things rolling instead of having dry spells which everyone rightly complains about. while i would love to get splatoon2 as soon as possible i understand the strategy and back it %100.
If they are still making money off it then great. He is right in saying that the price difference in the systems position them for different audiences.
Read the otherday that the first esports event on record across all platforms was 1990 Nintendo World Cup, I think it would be great if they brought that sort of thing back.
Namco was responsible for many great/happy memories as I grew up. I used to sit in school drawing the Namco logo. thank you for your large contribution to our life's.
@Anti-Matter
Haha don't get to jealous, half of the garage is packed full of kid’s toys that I have to trip over to get to the gaming area :/
I like the sound of your setup
I am converting my houses garage into a gaming bunker. It will have blast proof doors and windows installed, I have installed sound proofing in all the walls and set up a backup generator in the unlikely event of a power cut. There is a fridge full of energy drinks and microwave dinners. Yes I have a microwave as well. I have arranged for laser guided missile turrets to protect the perimeter. Some say it’s a bit much, but really is it?
I have begun to think that I might be living in a parallel universe where the nes mini doesn’t actually exist. If I do one day stumble upon one before my death, I won’t be hacking it. I gave up on pc gaming cos pulling bits apart from the machine and tinkering was taking too much of my already sparse gaming time. But I do understand the enjoyment of that sort of thing that some people have.
Edit: on topic, ROMs hurt the gaming industry. how could i ever be ok with that?
double Edit: when i think about it WTF is nintendo life doing covering this story??
My son asks for this game every day, and I have to fight back the tears as I tell him, "sorry son its not going to be a launch title" It's going to be a long wait. But at least there will be a lot of people to play with by then, probably part of the reason for the launch date and probably a good idea ☹
Great to see they are sticking with the adult gamer as target audience. The problem with having kids as your target audience was that most kids grow up in a home that has an Xbox or playstation and the parents are more likely to just buy age appropriate games for the system they already have rather than buy a whole other system for their kids.
Why wait? If you like splatoon, if you like Mario kart, if you like Zelda, then this console will be worth buying. So why play Zelda on wii u when you could play it on switch. If you don’t have the money then ok I can understand that, but if you can afford it then go for it. I will play Zelda on switch and keep playing Mario kart and splatoon on wii u until their switch versions come out.
This is good news, it's off to a good start before launch. I too wish they had just made a powerful home console but at this stage it looks like switch was the better option for them.
i think "touch screen" is an other communication error. they are probably just saying .... um what do you mean? yes of course you can touch the screen.
Its great to see so much interest! Online Nintendo shop sounds cool. I would rather give the shops mark up to Nintendo; they make good games whereas the weird guy at the shop only makes funny smells.
tell you what, when march 3rd comes around I will NOT have the time to read this many comments. I will be off dancing and skipping through the meadows while gaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the closer we get to launch the more hyped I get!!! Though I am disappointed in the launch line up I’m am very excited about the first year of switch! I think when people get one in their hands it will be a surprisingly good system. There are many people right now saying things when they haven’t even tried it yet. It will need time to build a user base. I don’t think it will change the whole gaming industry but I do think it will be great. It’s defiantly going to do well enough to not be Nintendo’s last system!
Now that I'm not worried about storage I want to cancel my Zelda physical copy and down load it from eshop instead but I'm worried that they haven't confirmed Zelda day one on eshop, It would have to be wouldn't it? I just don't want to be taking any risks but I much prefer digital
@rjejr Yours is accutaly a far better sales pitch than they used. And then no one could have complained about the price. What a difference that would have made to the online forums!
Sorry but I’m so disinterested in HD rumble that I couldn’t even bring my self to watch the video. Rumbles been around for a while now and its nice and all but for me gaming its still all about that other world I can experience in a video game.
still play online Mario kart / splatoon daily. of course they need to keep the servers up till at least end of year. what would life be without splatoon! im quite worried about how to split my Zelda / splatoon time from 3rd of march to be honest. its a tuff life.
A good pack in game would have really helped take the edge off the systems price. No matter what you are always going to have angry you-tubers screaming abuse from their mums basement. They are not really the type of people I would take life advice from though.
I agree with people on price being an important point. If they what to sell as many as they can they will need to keep their profit margin on the machine as small as possible. Getting a bigger user base this time round is a must.
This whole concept of play on your TV and then take it with you hasn't been done on this scale before. I'm interested to see how much it will change the way we game. The idea is actually growing on me more as we get closer to launch.
I would like to see good 3rd party support but I'm not holding my breath. I do think that there is room in the games industry for Nintendo to just be themselves and do OK.
This is great, if they put effort in to stuff like this it will really help switch have a good presence on the world stage for launch. The world needs to be told. I met a guy 2 days ago that used to play Nintendo and still really liked it but handnt heard of the switch. Not sure which rock he had been living under but it shows that advertising like this is important

thanks for the proper translation. it makes a lot more logic when the word "possible" is there instead of "expected"
