I'm both sad and unsurprised that Geist wasn't mentioned. I'm certain that Nintendo owns that property as its publisher, right? Would love to see a remaster/sequel. It was one of the earliest games with proper possession mechanics, and had a really neat spin on the standard multiplayer deathmatch stuff.
@Kochambra World of Darkness encompasses a whole slew of lore and content, including the Vampire, Werewolf, and Hunter series. Based on classic pen & paper games of the same name. Love to see it expand.
@Rafke Sure, it's Fortnite with better gunplay, movement and offensive/defensive abilities, classes w/ customization, and generally everything that makes it actually fun, unlike Fortnite.
It's one of the only battle royales I've ever enjoyed, tbh. Emphasis on class customization is really nice, as well as having abilities. Fortnite is a cheesy, meme-filled mess that's boring as hell for me. I always hated the building mechanics as well. Realm just hit a sweet spot.
People calling it "Fortnite with Chickens" are just cowards too afraid to play something else that they might actually enjoy.
@Morrow that is a fair point. I don't think it was intended to be timed, but my guess is he wants to maximize profits to make sure he doesn't have any big loss on it.
It's like with Dead Space Extraction on Wii. I absolutely loved that game and was bummed when it went to PS3.
@Knuckles-Fajita a capitalist economy depends on the consumer. If consumers end up preferring THIS approach and start "pushing back" against companies that put out ridiculous microtransaction markets, the companies will follow suit to regain consumer trust. Those that don't will fall to the wayside. It happened plenty amongst the MMO market. It'll START happening in the console market too once sports games are less frequently bought (being the worst offenders of all microtransaction markets).
I'm hoping it's from the team that did the remasters for Steam, and that they continue to make more of those (up to Evolution, my favorite in the series).
The fact that A Robot Named Fight is not on this list-- a true roguelite love letter to Super Metroid-- is NOTHING less than a travesty. It's more Metroid than pretty much every game on this list.
I can safely recommend it at the current pricepoint. It needs some performance updates, but it IS the first console release as far as I know (unless it was on Ps4 first, but it hasn't hit Xbox One yet). Single player runs well enough, but split screen can certainly take a big hit in later levels and with certain weapons.
I've been saying this for months: a Metroid Prime 4 gameplay reveal would be WAY too big for a simple direct. They first showcased Breath of the Wild at TGA, so of course it makes sense for MP4 to do the same.
I like what IS there, but it is sorely lacking in what ISN'T. It really does need to allow for partying up for general chat with friends. I do like the chatting with random people and the notification of how many in chat there are popping up.
Been looking forward to Moonfall Ultimate. Gothic cyberpunk/scifi is my aesthetic, and it looks decently fun. Same with The Messenger and Hyakki Castle
@Nunya It's quite different with it's much deeper systems of customization when it comes to playstyles. The different talents, ability card loadouts (which reduce cooldown reduction, efficacy, etc) allow for so much fine tuning. In some ways it's much better than Overwatch.
I grew up on Doom, Cabela's Hunting Simulators, Mario, among many other things. I'll probably take a deeper look into this one to see if I'll pick it up, but I enjoy a good hunting simulator.
@Dreamcaster-X The two main roguelike/lite games I can safely recommend in terms of level design so far are Neon Chrome and A Robot Named Fight. I own quite a few, but they stand out as my favorites. ARNF really feels fleshed out in terms of level design with its (MAJOR) Super Metroid influence, even though it is randomized, and Neon Chrome feels like you actually make progress over time (each successful run unlocks a higher difficulty, and you have stats that stay over, etc.)
Glad to see that it's a lot more positive, here. People on /r/NintendoSwitch are up in arms with pitchforks and torches because they didn't hear everything they wanted. They feel the save backups should be free (understandable), but because they think that this is literally EVERY detail, they think that Nintendo will be doing nothing more than this.
It's obviously going to do more. Half the FAQ on their site is still unanswered.
@aaronsullivan Personally I think that sounds awful. Bitmoji has plenty of content but the avatars are... Meh. If they incorporated more stuff like Bitmoji and Miitomo into more of their stuff I think it'd look a lot better.
Gotta say: as a producer, I avoided KORG's lackluster outing. IT DOES NOT feature touch support, nor ANY kind of export system (partly due to Nintendo, partly to KORG).
I DID, however, pick up A Robot Named Fight. As a major Metroid fan, I can safely recommend it. Solid 7.5/10. It draws almost all inspiration from Super Metroid. Quite enjoyable.
Pretty good list. Sad to not see Neon Chrome up there at all, though. Underrated title. Over 50 hours on it for me, so far. A lot of fun with a pretty good amount of replayability, thanks in part to the (seemingly infinite) difficulty scaling.

Re: Mini Review: Heroes of Hammerwatch - Ultimate Edition - A Rollicking Rogue-Lite, Best Enjoyed With Friends
I own it on PC. I consider it to be a spiritual successor to Gauntlet, and vastly superior to the original Hammerwatch. Excellent coop title.
Re: Gallery: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Full Roster Of Playable Characters
Marvel Knights DLC certainly has the potential to bring us Moon Knight and Punisher, if not possibly Blade. If I can get MK and Blade, I'll be happy.

Hey, the more World of Darkness stuff exists and gets recognition, the better. Hopefully they can bring back Hunter: The Reckoning

@Morrow Timed exclusives are fairly common, but at the same time this also helps him get the funding for NMH3

Board Game Simulator x Mario Party.
Really sick of seeing Cuphead at this point.
Was left severely underwhelmed by Axiom Verge-- would prefer to see her in A Robot Named Fight.

How is this a Universal Studios thing? That was some abysmal C-class movie garbage.
