Fat Dog Games and Frozen District have announced that Warlocks 2: God Slayers will be making its way to Nintendo Switch this October.
The game is described as a 2D co-operative action RPG which combines a retro aesthetic with fresh hack ‘n’ slash mechanics. Players can choose from five bonkers, playable warlocks including a crazed goat riding a dwarf-centaur, or a tech-savvy e-witch who casts spells from her smartphone, as they join forces with up to three friends via local or online co-op, taking on the vile gods hellbent on reigning chaos throughout the multiverse.

Warlocks 2 features over 120 equippable items, more than 45 different abilities such as shooting selfies, turning enemies into frogs, and summoning hordes of skeletons, ghosts and demons, and over 100 upgrades to unlock which allow you to take on even greater challenges. Chairman of the board at Frozen District, Krzysztof Krej, has said the following alongside the game's announcement.
“Warlocks 2 presents an exhilarating spread of multidimensional travel, side-scrolling adventure and hack ‘n’ slash combat. It’s the perfect blend of humour and action to share with friends.”
Acting as a sequel to Warlocks vs. Shadows, Warlocks 2: God Slayers will be available on Nintendo Switch this October for $19.99.

What about games that look like they are from this millennium?
Note that I am not even asking for games from this decade.
Though the backgrounds seems bland at times the sprite works are amazing so I may definitely check this out.
I like the good job they have made on sprites but the tiles they use for the background layers are meh.
Another thing that disturb me and not only in this game, is the use of spine animations for big sprites. I'm really not fan at all.
Otherwise, great job on the smaller sprites !
@Rhaoulos
Before I clicked on the YT link I had hoped that the artwork represented the game play. I could see a 3D melee game with those graphics. But then I watched the video and it was yet ANOTHER pixel art game. When most are going for $10-$15 I'm mystified that they'd try to tack on another $5 for a game I doubt will be different than the other 100 clones on the Apple store right now.
Unless the reviews are stellar across the board, I can't see any point in giving this the time of day.
more pixel art. pass.
i get why they do it (cheap for small devs) but i don't have to like it. hand-drawn or nothing for me. i don't even really like the silly pseudo 3d stuff.
@sword_9mm
A good pixel art takes more time to make than hand-drawn... So, good pixel art cost a lot of money, more than hand-drawn...
@Cobalt
i'd have to see some references to that.
there's too much pixel art trash out to believe it's not funding that's driving these graphics decisions. i'm sure there's engines that make this a super easy way to get a game out.
@sword_9mm
I said "good pixel art" !
I don't talk about those fake 8bitish style graphics, god no !
If you go with good 16 bit graphics it's already a pretty difficult job to do. If you go 32 bit, then it's really really really long to make, you can trust me on that it's what I'm doing
PS : a game engine doesn't help for graphics. ^^
you can buy a UE4 licence 10 times if you want, the art style wil not appear like that.
@Rhaoulos
The switch currently doesn’t have many of those
Is that a goat riding a man??
Is that a witch taking a selfie!?
I like the visuals. Not sold on the character designs themselves. I don't believe every game needs to be 3D to be good--there's room for all kinds of art direction in today's gaming world.
It sounds promising but something tells me it's going to be yet another roguelike or rogue-lite...indie devs seem to think that's the holy grail of game development or something.
@Fake-E-Lee I was exactly the same when I read co-op but the fact it has online (meaning I don't really need to interact with anyone) and that it sounds pretty good swung it for me.
Great another phone game. Geez.
Lol @ all the hate.
Multiplayer is compelling, but it would have to have some depth to it (i.e. not just fetch questing) for me to grab it.
Always looking for good co-op stuff. Looks not too bad.
I love these types of games! It suits its purpose as a mobile game.
Definitely getting it.
The description sounds promising, but then the video makes it look like a cheap sideview Runescape clone. The gameplay is really going to have to impress me for me to be able to overlook this lousy, outdated graphic design.
Very cool, very nice, I like it.
Amazing pixel art and movement. I definitely will buy it. yet better with player co-op.
