I’m sat on the fence whether to triple dip on this (got on PS4 and PC versions), but really like the idea of portable play and supporting the developer. If it was possible to transfer characters across I think that would clinch it, but I only recently completed the main game, so would want it for the DLC episodes.
I had one of these in my shopping basket, but balked at the shipping price and decided not to bother. I’ve already got the SNES classic and figured I could just play (any) games and on the go I was unlikely to pack this controller.
The deal breaker for me is requiring an internet connection. This is a game I would like to play on my commute, but that’s where my connectivity is poor to non-existent. If I pay to own then I shouldn’t also need to be online.
I played a lot of Smash on the WiiU and 3DS and whilst I enjoyed the presentation, I was deflated to see the pre-order price of £60 on Amazon UK. I really can’t see myself splashing out on it for a third time at that price.
Fire Emblem was the highlight for me, but 2019 (before slippage) means there’s little to be excited about on Switch at the moment that I haven’t already played to death on WiiU.
They need a better account system for this to really catch on, I don’t see families buying multiple copies of games on the eShop at Nintendo inflated prices. If there was a family sharing system that would be a different proposition and could work.
Looks awesome, love building Lego, think I’ll love this too. What a way to inspire curious little minds into enigineering and understanding how things work.
@Marios-love-child whilst a SNES mini with 20 different games could be an interesting marketing gimmick, there can’t be many who haven’t already hacked it and added their own collection already.
I just want to play the games again that i’ve got on carts that consumed so much time during my uni days:
Cannon Fodder
Sensible Soccer
Bust a move
Pilotwings
Super Star Wars
These will be modded on to my mini just as soon as the hack arrives.
Nintendo were clearly a bit snookered with this dilemma - eshop too expensive to add and if you include an SD card reader where do the ROMs come from - so leaving the system hackable to those who want to is a reasonable compromise.
I got one from the official Nintendo store. It’s now being dispatched, i’m eagerly hitting the refresh button on the track my package page. Can’t arrive soon enough!
I’ve already double dipped on this game with PC and PS4 for around £10 each. Won’t be buying again, especially at full retail price. I am pleased that this is coming to Switch though and hope there are others that will buy this so that Bethesda bring more to Nintendo.
If they'd launched this 12 months ago I would be throwing money at Nintendo to get this, but at this point in the 3DS life cycle when I've already got an old and a new 3DS and my SNES-fix coming via the mini in one months time, I'm gonna have to pass.
Nintendo should recognise the demand for this and just build it into the firmware. It would kill the temptation for many to go homebrew with the console.
I completely missed this. In previous years NintendoLife has done a good job in raising awareness of this before the event. I must have missed it among all the adverts for Amazon cluttering up the "news".
Nintendo could have done them self a favour by making the sale linked to redeeming say 1,000 platinum or 50 gold coins or similar from My Nintendo to reward loyal fans. It really was luck of the draw whether when the email came in you had an ability to drop everything and get on to their store within 20 minutes.
It's a simple choice: if you've bought a Switch you're probably already resigned to the need to double dip on MK8; if like me you're still with the Wii U there's definitely nothing here.
I just have two key gripes at this stage: 1. Profiteering retailers charging outrageous prices for games, this will surely correct in time; and 2. Lack of VC support. I could get over this very quickly if Nintendo announced a mini-SNES
I bought the Wii U version and have just played through the first four mini dungeons on the plateau and am loving it. There's some frame rate gitters but this is not Watch_dogs. Perfectly playable, the difference probably isn't noticeable unless you have the two systems side-by-side. There's still life in the old Wii U, will be a while till I get the switch, waiting for this first wave of remakes to pass.
The launch title prices have convinced me to hold off. I was day one with the Wii U but won't be burnt twice by Nintendo (three times if you count the N64 launch debacle).
it looks like a great step up if you're a 3DS owner, but as a Wii U owner it's just not a compelling proposition at launch. I've already played far too much Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon to want to return to them for a couple of extra maps and characters which could also be delivered to Wii U as DLC. Zelda is a killer launch title, but as it's not a title that will lend itself to portable play, so Wii U version is good for me.
They should have just made a "read-only" version that lets you play courses uploaded from the Wii U and sold it for half this price. Why would you spend hours designing a course on the off chance you get a street pass hit.
@Darknyht you can play off-TV, but you have to use the Wii U Controller stand and waggle the Wiimotes at the little screen. I came back to this to finish it off a few months ago with the disc version that way.

@MrJed just checked the GBros on Amazon, looks great with the added benefit of also being able to use my GameCube controllers. Thanks

@gcunit that's like how you could get the console for £198. Did anybody get one from Gameseek or was it just a marketing scam?
