Retro-Bit has announced a partnership with Sega and Limited Run Games to release a collection of officially-licensed - and bright pink - Sega controllers. A portion of the proceeds will go towards fighting breast cancer.
There are four different controllers available - two for the Sega Genesis, and two for the Sega Saturn. For both, you can either pick up a controller compatible with the original hardware, or one that comes with a USB cable for use with your PC, Genesis Mini, or even your Switch. 10% of every purchase will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Pre-orders for the controllers will be going live on Limited Run's website later today (18th October, 3pm BST). All models are priced at $19.99.
A message from Retro-bit:
"With an estimated 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer in 2019 alone, join us in the fight against breast cancer for this year’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A portion of every pink SEGA controller purchase will be donated to NBCF to help provide & inspire hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detections, education & support services."
If you do decide to pick one up, delivery for all designs is scheduled for November.
Do you like the look of these controllers? Will you be adding one to your collection and supporting a great cause? Let us know in the comments.

But can you plug it in to an Atari2600? That's what I look for in a Sega controller
Will they donate the money from the other controllers because I don't like that colour?
There has got to be a more efficient way of fighting breast cancer.
Why not a blue one for testicular cancer?
@Zeldafan79 Normally, when they do that, it's for prostate cancer.
@Franklin Oh, there are several. That doesn't make this bad.
Ironic these will soon be scalped with none of the profits going to said charity.
@Strumpan
Either works for me. I just don't get why we're only fighting cancer for the ladies. Men get cancer too and they are far more likely to be gamers. Seems a bit one sided to me. That's all.
They're nice but I already bought one of each colour and plug when they came out so I don't think I can justify adding another 4 remotes....
If you look at the "more details" on these, it says "Packaging subject to change . Pending licensing approval"
Who's license? SEGA?
@Gravitron
If you go for this one, then yes.

@Zeldafan79 Yes, this is one-sided. The campaigns where they sell blue coloured stuff to raise money for prostate cancer are also one-sided. Just like campaigns for Parkinson's disease, homosexual rights, feeding poor people in Africa and most other campaigns. Avoid being the person who says "why don't you do something about [whatever]?" as soon as someone does something good.
Great cause. Let's get an official set of Breast Cancer Pink joycons or preferably a pro-controller and I'd do that. I just have no use for a controller like this.
How about a red one to show support for sonic 3 and knuckles? Then sega can re release it again!
@Zeldafan79 Maybe because breast cancer is at least 20 times more common than testicular cancer and far more likely to kill a person? Just a wild guess.
@Zeldafan79 I should add that I don't disagree with the idea that we should be raising awareness about cancer for everyone, not just women. Males are actually more likely to die of cancer than women by a very large margin.
But breast cancer is a huge killer. It kills more women than any other cancer except for lungncancer, and being aware of it and getting regular screenings can be massively beneficial in diagnosing and improving survivability. So yeah, it's a worthy cause, even if you think breast cancer gets too much attention at the expense of other types.
There are other groups that fight for other types of cancer awareness. You can always donate to them.
@JasmineDragon Not sure why you were downvoted as your response to @Zeldafan79 was actually right on the money.
Breast cancer is definitely far more common, at least here in the US (and probably the rest of the world too. About 250,000 cases per year in the US alone, versus testicular cancer's roughly 8700 cases per year in the US.
With regard to your statement about it being more likely to kill a person, this is also very true. The treatments for testicular cancer are, fortunately, very effective, with relatively high cure rates even in patients with metastatic disease. For those with breast cancer, the fatality rate is quite a bit higher and it's a lot more difficult to treat.
@nintendork64 Thanks for the backup. I didn't want to start digging up numbers. All true though.
I try not to worry about downvotes since they really don't mean anything. And I was a little snarky with that response.
@JasmineDragon Snarky is okay IMO if you know what you're talking about, which you clearly do lol. You weren't being disrespectful as far as I could tell.
Yeah, downvotes don't mean anything, but still, it would be nice if people would educate themselves instead of thinking that breast cancer is getting preferential treatment over testicular cancer for no reason.
But with free delivery, like when you buy one of their controllers in Amazon? That would be a good way to encourage people to participate. And more than 10% donations, of course. I don't want to pay more in shipping costs, which won't go to the fight anyway.
I don’t have anything Sega but that looks pretty sweet and is for a good cause
@Moroboshi876
To be fair, Limited Run Games don't make any profit on the postage. It's high because it includes tracking and tax. I agree they should donate at least 25% instead of 10% however.
I have just placed an order for the Sega Genesis Pink Controller. I don't usally like pink, but this has that Tawna Pink vibe from Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled.
Why do non-Nintendo articles keep showing up on Nintendo websites?
@Zeldafan79 They do have cancer awareness for all types.
I ordered two Genesis Controllers myself One for my actual genesis cause I only had the one I got with it and one USB to play retro games on the pc
I love Saturn controllers, I love pink, I love good causes. Bought myself two, one a proper Saturn controller and one a USB controller.
It's kind of sad that there are people who can't appreciate things like this and thinks only about themselves. Don't you have a mother, a sister or a wife you care about? FYI, if it isn't that obvious in the article, October is Breast cancer awareness month in case you're wondering why not testicular or whatever form of cancer you can think of. Anyway, already preordered USB versions for the Saturn and Mega Drive/Genesis. ^^
