I haven’t played Amiibo Fest or Home Designer, but there is no way they are worse than Pocket Camp. Pocket Camp completely lacks AC charm. It’s shallow, the areas are too small, and it feels completely pointless to play.
Sonic and Crash are fit for runner games. Mario on the other hand was always more about the exploration and adventure, which is why it’s not suited to be a runner game.
Also why Mario games were always superior.
@Anti-Matter same! I understand the desire to go digital with a game I’ll never sell and always want in system. But having a physical copy of my favorite games is more important to me.
@Heavyarms55 it’s not just for if system is lost or stolen. As many have said, they’ve changed systems or sent them for repair etc and in those cases you simply move your cartridge Or memory card to the new system and continue. That used to work just fine. Even without fancy cloud saves. Now Nintendo has gone backward. In the very old days you’d have to write down a pass code to continue a game. Then we got cartridge saves. Then memory cards. Now? It’s worse than any option previously available in gaming history.
@NPC411 having spent a number of years in Japan, this is all correct. Japanese culture is slow to change and just do their own thing (the rapid modernization after WWII was a rare exception, and more recently they’ve settled into their old ways) For most of the world, this is exactly why japan is interesting and even charming. In fact, it is more surprising how forward thinking Sony is. I’m still mad though. I wish nintendo would get their crap together. At the very least allow us to manage saves on cartridge or sd card for goodness sake. In this regard they have regressed.
@Xylnox that was in Battletoads! I remember it well. My brother and I played all the time and got into many a fight in real life over that game hahah. Luckily we had it on SNES so didn’t have to keep throwing quarters into a machine
@Smashfan502 there were yellow blue pink etc Yoshi I’m sure your point is he should have used a yellow Yoshi for his picture to match his name. Haha
Yep region free. And most big releases have multiple languages built in, and the game auto defaults the language to whichever region your switch is set to. I have personally bought a couple different games from japan and in Korea, and they default to English for me. This isn’t always true so be careful. For example Rune Factory 4 has been out in japan for quite a while, and even though it’s coming west, the cart is likely stuck in Japanese. This happened to me with the Mana collection. Bought physical cart in japan, and even though they later released it in English in the Eshop, my game has no English option, and never gets one even if I go online and check for updates etc.
I wonder if I can find that here while I’m in Japan. I won’t be in japan for the actual release, but I’ll look around to see what AC themed items I can snag before I leave
@Welshland there is no way it is included for the standard switch price. AC will be huge and a system seller. I would love a bundle discount but they don’t need to, and that would probably net them less money.
My launch console is banned from online (trying to run retroarch since Nintendo’s VC games are few in #) Animal Crossing is my most anticipated game. And this console will do nicely So glad it’s not switch lite. I wouldn’t mind if they also released a special edition lite, but I need that tv functionality personally!
They seriously should have tv out in the lite console. Stupid Swon’tch
I liked the EU initially but I feel too much detail is lost the golden shield/sword/Z area. Don’t care for the Jp version for once. USA wins for me, also plays on my nostalgia as that’s the one I had.
Everybody complaining about double A’s? As someone else mentioned, get some decent rechargeable AA’s and be content. They are good to have around and plenty of things use them; clocks, flashlights, remotes, etc.
For me, the action and feel of controller is much more important. I haven’t tried a powerA controller yet, but I’m very tempted by the KK Slider AC one.
I’m annoyed that they never addressed input lag on Switch. Speculation is that forced v-sync is partially to blame. But Psyonix won’t even acknowledge it. I’m Champ on PC, and can barely teach platinum on switch because of the input lag. It bad on console screen. And wise on tv mode
@Welshland same! I make a decent profit off mine, but actually I wish I still had it I held on to my gold Link Between Worlds one. But honestly I liked the AC one better.
@datamonkey actually @embison could be correct. Japanese has a lot of homonyms and without the kanji, I assumed 立て(standing) but it is likely 縦 (vertical), both pronounced Tate. @Strumpan yes more like te in “tele” and not so much a hard Ay sound. I’m American and actually got corrected on that exact point when I studied in Japan. ^_^
Honestly this is the first time I've played a Zelda game and not cared for it. Almost entirely because of the corridor and maze-like feeling of the over world. Maybe had I played it on game boy I would feel differently.
The music and art are the best part of this game. I hate how the world feels like one big maze. Definitely not open like Link to the Past or later zelda
@LivingLeif controls are the worst! And they didn't even mention this is the article. The poor controls are the main reason I'm not playing it. Hell, even the cheap knock off Beach Buggy Racing has better controls and more gameplay
The first Dragon Quest (or Dragon Warrior) was my first rpg ever. Loved it. Still do. However the worst part about all subsequent Dragon Quest games is the way they have bag, and then each character has their own bag. Item management is so irksome! It honestly bothers me so much I always quit each game about 5 hours in
@Xelha what are these "new" joycons? I can a pair of the neon green and pink which were one of the later color options, and my left pink one drifts. I was under the impression the whole stick part is one piece that is basically of the shelf. Ie not designed specifically by Nintendo but chosen. And that part hasn't changed.
@JLPick yes I am surprised they have the gall to call it a "Switch" Especially since I am 99% certain they chose to block TV mode via software to not canabalize normal switch sales. The hardware would support TV out. Jerks.
@Kyranosaurus this is what I wanted to say. @Kalmaro is basically waiting for someone is some presumable position of power to a rule to allow ROMs or game preservation, for him to accept it. He is treating these rules and laws like they are divine and not just made up by somebody somewhere
@HeroponRiki I absolutely love my SNES classic. Love love love it! Having these games on switch does add a little convenience. Though I prefer TV anyway.
@hoopderscotch that's good to know. A little difficult to believe since they did suck a good job on the mobile game and Switch is essentially a tablet. But I'll take your word for it.
America MegaMan looks terrible but had a cool background. Eu has worse background and that Wiley head... And that akward position mega Man and Rush are in.... What the hell? Has to go to japan. Japan being the most normal. So strange
@NotTelevision oh the memories! My brother and I fashioned a cardboard TV screen divider to keep other players seeing your location during multiplayer in GoldenEye
@Old_Man_Nintendo on the grand scale yes physical media is dying. However, Nintendo and Sony are Japanese companies and Japan doesn't like change. CD's and DVD/Blu Ray are still very much a thing here and won't be going away any time soon. That's goes the same for games
@Anti-Matter
A lot of people seem to forget not everybody has unlimited high speed internet. Plenty of people have data limits (unfortunately) and some don't even have reliable high speed.
I personally prefer physical media, but I also have a 10GB monthly data cap. I'm not about to waste my entire months data on a download of a physical game. That is stupid.
I will check the Japan release in a couple of days, if it requires a download, I will just download the xci or nso from the internet and not pay for game.
Such a shame, I really wanted to buy the physical.
@Spudtendo most anime-looking games do have crap gameplay. But not all, and this one actually looks fun. There is nothing inherently wrong with fan service. Maybe it's not your cup of tea, but let others enjoy it? Most people have/do try to connect with women in real life. And usually that is a waste of time.
@shinesprites I completely agree! So much great art and characters designs wasted on subpar games. In my younger days I was taken in, but now I know not to expect much. Though this game actually looks more fun than most. I wish some these great artist were put to work on some AAA titles.
@WaffleKnight it is completely optional and only cosmetic items. The only downside I see if that there are too damn many items now, so much so that having a rare or cool item doesn't feel so special anymore
@Old_Man_Nintendo I played the beta as well and didn't care for it at all. Mostly due to the control method they chose. Looks like Mario kart but doesn't feel like it, to me. I might have to check out Crash Team Racing now though.
I actually prefere Diddy Kong Racing!!! That game had adventure and a bit of story in addition to everything that makes Mario kart great already. Please Nintendo make a new Diddy Kong Racing!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #28 - Mario Bros.
I’m surprised by the results. Sure the EU has good art, and it’s certainly better than the JP. But the NA box is timeless and classic.
Re: Review: SpeedRunners - Move Over Sonic, These Guys Have Some Serious Pace
