Re: Poll: One Week On - How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?

"HURRR I think I'll wait a year or two so I can save $50 on a bundle/after a price drop."

I'm glad I have a real job and don't have to complain about a modestly priced brand new Nintendo console - something that happens like twice/decade, and is bordering on half the price of its competitors at their launches.

I would look at their waiting until now a different way:

#1: It wouldn't have made sense to order him to stop when all he was doing was developing the remake. To my knowledge, there's nothing illegal about a private individual doing something like that for private use. So it only makes sense to have to do this when the thing is actually being distributed.

#2: By waiting until now, they've allowed the game to get out and become available to many, many people. If you look hard enough, I'm sure you'll continue to be able to find it. If they had canned it earlier, it never would've seen the light of day.

Try not to judge Nintendo so harshly. It seems like to me their decision has allowed for an everybody-wins scenario because 1) the dude finished his project, 2) Nintendo get to protect their IP, and 3) the game was actually out there and people got to experience it.

Re: Poll: The Tricky Issue of Retail Games as Download-Only Releases

I don't see why everyone is so hung up on "owning" things. If you pay $12 to go see a movie in the theater, you're paying for the 2-hour experience. If you pay $50 or $60 for even just 10 hours of gameplay experience, the expense ratio is the exact same. Of course, most Nintendo games are going to net you many more than 10 hours, and the value proposition is even higher than going to the movies because you will own access to your game for at least the generation if not longer (i.e. since you can download it you may be able to play it for as long as you have a functioning console).

@RantingThespian please call Nintendo Support and tell them! They called me back for more info twice and each time they said that they were not aware of this happening to other people. They need to know about this problem before they start pushing out more large Wii games to download.

@SkullKid there aren't going to be any at your local gamestop. These preorders were never in-store preorders. Gamestop was just taking orders for systems that they would ship directly to your home. Anyone who hasn't pre-ordered this is not going to get one (unless they buy from the scalpers, which I refuse to do).

I was in Gamestop less than two hours after these were announced (took an extended lunch break!) and I missed out on getting a pre-order. Very upset and wish Nintendo would show that they care about true fans who have to choose between being taken advantage of and missing out on really neat items like these.

HELP! I'm experiencing a bug with Super Mario Galaxy 2. I downloaded it to an external hard drive. When I launch it, I just get a black screen for 2-3 minutes and then the Wii U turns off and restarts to the home screen.

When I move the game to the system hard drive it works fine. It only causes this problem when it's on the external HDD. I called Nintendo Support and they were not aware of others having this problem. Their next tier of support is going to "look into it" and get back in touch with me in a few days. Has anyone else run into this??
