Re: Review: eFootball Kick-Off! (Switch 2) - Flickers Of The Old PES Magic With A Substantial Single-Player Mode

jsty3105

@Username_1 Actually, I remembered now that I also needed to set the difficulty in PES to the highest settings anyway so I should've done so here too. Been too long since there was anywhere near a decent PES experience! I do greatly miss the Wii version as that was special - you can set your team to play like prime Barcelona or like total football Netherlands

Re: Review: eFootball Kick-Off! (Switch 2) - Flickers Of The Old PES Magic With A Substantial Single-Player Mode

jsty3105

@LucasOfTheShire this feels like old PES. Need to play on at least hard difficulty though. In my hour's play so far it's been very comforting to play and it's great to see players raise their hands for the pass, make runs into the box and even check their runs when they're about to be offside

I'm chuffed to bits that I can use Adriano and Bergkamp in the same team. A hammer and an artist 🤣

Re: Video: 11 Exciting New Games Coming To Switch 1 & 2 In June 2026

jsty3105

@StewdaMegaManNerd being slightly pedantic and being insulting are two vastly different things. I was referring to the former and am a bit surprised that the latter was brought up. Unless these games have already been released on the Switch 2, they are new rather than not new.

If they've already been released on the Switch 2 then yeah, calling them new would be an error and they should be called 'not new games you might have missed on the Switch 2'

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th May)

jsty3105

Got marvel cosmic invasion and theaterythym final bar line from Boomerang rental and recently picked up Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic - had oddly never played it when the OG version came out despite me loving these types of games. Got my birthday happening tomorrow so will definitely enjoy my gaming time this weekend

Re: Nintendo Switch 2: How To Replace Your Joy-Con 2 Sticks

jsty3105

@Yoshi3 I'm surprised you're doubling down on something that's clearly not a problem for almost every Switch 2 owner.

I never claimed 100%. That would have been a demonstrably false claim from me because there's always a small percentage of production failures in every single thing ever produced. Your claim that the Switch 2 joycons are terrible and don't work from the get go is wildly over the top though.

Edit: Intriguing you claimed 2 ppl experiencing Switch 2 stick drift in this comment section when only Moldypasta has mentioned anything of the sort and took great pains to say it only happened "VERY OCCASIONALLY" - you seem to have gone looking for anything that could qualify as a problem.

Come to think of it, why should I care if you launch legal action against Nintendo for the Switch 2 joycons. It's your money to do as you will anyway. It's a pity the only person benefitting from that action would be whichever lawyer you pay to take the case.

Re: Japanese Charts: Switch 2 Sneaks In Some Huge Numbers Ahead Of The Price Rise

jsty3105

@disappointedMii and the logic holds up for the Switch TV. The Switch Lite was also clearly positioned for a more casual audience. There are no casual audiences that would get a Switch TV over a Switch Lite. A Switch TV is a pretty useless product that offers more problems to solve - particularly, "It's a home console but not a return to dedicated home consoles for Nintendo".

Re: Japanese Charts: Switch 2 Sneaks In Some Huge Numbers Ahead Of The Price Rise

jsty3105

I cannot see a Switch 2 TV only version being viable or even worth the R&D or the inevitable headache of clarifying that it wouldn't mean a home-only Switch 3 that competes in power with the PS6. Things cost money, time, and production capacity to make. If they won't even do different colour options yet they're not going to spend even more money on an option that'll almost inevitably reduce their global production capability.

Re: "The Wii U Was On Life Support" - Reggie Restates The NES & SNES Classic's True Purpose

jsty3105

@spiderman0616 my theory is that those claiming corporate greed want all video game companies to operate like charities.

I also think none of them realise that profits are reinvested into research and development of new products and services. And profits are also essential to having a healthy amount of reserves for the tough times.

Maybe they want Nintendo to operate like a wholesaler - low value low margin products but high volume. Like become a video game industry version of Costco

Re: Nintendo Hiring For A Brand New Role 'Movie Project Promotion Manager'

jsty3105

@Ryu_Niiyama Nintendo's movie strategy, which I think they've covered in investor briefings, isn't about preparing a pivot away from video games. Aussie already covered the main points in the reply though so I don't need to add more other Nintendo seeing movies as a gateway to showcasing their IPs and redirecting people back to Nintendo games.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Tech Verdict For Indiana Jones On Switch 2

jsty3105

@hammers1man those were really poor examples. You've helped established that Nintendo eshop games on sale can be cheaper than pc store games on sale (or very close to the price).

Super Mario Wonder Switch 2 version is £55 in most retail shops. You're REALLY cherry picking examples considering you can't play mario wonder on the PC.

Ultimately, the price differences are close enough not to be particularly material. Eshop games on sale are priced extremely competitively and can sometimes be cheaper than sales on pc storefronts.

" I am not talking about sales but prices you can pick now" Ok - Mixtape is £14.39 now on Steam and £14.39 on the eshop.

TMNT Splintered Fate is £2.49 on the eshop now and £23.99 on Steam and £5.99 on Humble (so eShop is the cheapest place to get this game right now)

Mortal Kombat 1 is £6.99 on the eShop and £11.99 on the Humble and £8.99 on Steam (so the eShop is the cheapest place to get this game right now)

Really, your statement doesn;t make much sense.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Tech Verdict For Indiana Jones On Switch 2

jsty3105

@hammers1man I'm not joking. Street fighter 6 has been £17.49 on the eshop fairly regularly this year (cheaper than the Humble Store then!). Cyberpunk has been £34.49 just last month. It gets even cheaper if you switch regions and buy elsewhere and also can get cheaper on key selling sites.

I don't get why you're picking full price against a discounted price. If so, Street Fighter 6 is £34.99 on Steam And the same price on the eshop. Cyberpunk ultimate edition is £68.98 on Steam but £59.99 on the eshop.

I can probably find you thousands of games which are cheaper on discount versus full price so I'm thoroughly confused about your comparison. Are you suggesting games never go on sale on the eshop?

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Tech Verdict For Indiana Jones On Switch 2

jsty3105

@hammers1man this assumption that pc games are always cheaper only holds true for Nintendo published games.

Some prices are the same and I think in some instances, the eshop price was lower. Even when the eshop price isn't the same or lower, the price difference is only like 50 pennies to a pound or two. (You'd probably be able to use the same figures in dollars).

The extra cost of the pc handheld isn't going to make that up without paying for hundreds of games.

And I tend to say that a big library is largely worthless if you can never enjoy them in your lifetime - I've personally set a rule for myself to buy only what I know I'll play immediately that same day, even if it's only for 10 minutes.

Edit: The biggest difference for me is the free games you can get on pc depending on what services you use.

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Drops Nearly 10% Following Price Hike Announcement

jsty3105

@PinballBuzzbro It's impossible to determine if the same investors who requested or support a price increase are also the same ones who sold shared immediate after the announcement.

It might be fun to state the irony but there's no direct link in reality.

There'll be shareholders who disagree with the price increase and it seems more likely for them to be the ones who sold stock.

Re: Stop Stressing, Nintendo Says More Switch 2 Games Are Coming

jsty3105

@Dman10 Perhaps. I feel that you're misremembering the Switch 1 game announcement schedule to a certain extent. There's something about remembering the past where we tend to look on things a bit more favourably. I also remember complaints here about there not being enough announcements or that the announcements weren't big enough.

I do acknowledge there's been a bit of a gap for big Nintendo Directs though - they appear to have adjusted that comms approach to focus on a series of partner announcements and indie showcases and made more use of the Nintendo Today app. Maybe it's a bit of an experiment to see what lands well and reduces the impact of leaks.

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Drops Nearly 10% Following Price Hike Announcement

jsty3105

@Cipher36 I personally don't see it happening - it immediately creates confusing messaging after about a decade of saying Play Anytime, Anywhere.

I believe it also invites media and YouTubers to post content about Nintendo 'going back to home consoles'.

What would be the message to sell this model? Play your Switch games at home for cheaper? but don't forget you can't bring this console anywhere, but it's also definitely not a home console - and so shouldn't be directly compared against the Xbox and PS? I think, that no matter what message gets put out for that, the negatives far outweigh the incremental sales they might get from this move. Also, what people say they will buy and what people actually do are very different things.

Edit: There's also an opportunity cost to allocating time and resources to design, produce, and market the new model. It'll take shelf space and marketing communications space and it'll take time to painfully convince people that this doesn't mark a return to making dedicated home consoles (though some definitely want that to happen). It'll take factory production line capacity (forget what the technical term would be) away from other things they could request to produce. I think Nintendo is better served using those resources for the eventual Switch 2 Lite. No doubt they've been planning how to expand the Switch 2 family in purposeful ways and the most logical moves in order of likelihood are for a Switch 2 v2.0 (gosh, what a name), Switch 2 Lite or a Switch 2 Pro.

Re: Stop Stressing, Nintendo Says More Switch 2 Games Are Coming

jsty3105

@Dman10 They used the same announcement strategy for Switch 1 games though - with only a few exceptions, just like what they've done for the Switch 2 so far. And you've said they did a great job of keeping us gamers informed during the Switch 1 days. I think Reggie was right to say that whatever approach they take, fans will always want to hear a bit more.
