@rvcolem1 Many of the later levels will take far far longer than 3 minutes so you'll get opportunities to play longer missions and, eventually, replay them with additional challenging enemies that offer rare rewards. The challenge is high but great to play through
Only Pokopia is a game key card. There are no game key card versions of first party games.
It might also be fun to be snarky and claim a total cost of ownership of £200 for KH3 collection but it's quite off base.
It only costs £55 for a 256gb micro SD express to double your Switch 2 storage and be more than enough more several games. You don't even need to get a new SD card express if you're not after the extra convenience of not wanting to wait to download and play. I like that convenience so I picked up a 256gb card. There's certainly no requirement to spend £120 on a micro SD express card.
@DTFaux Perhaps. But things cost money to make and produce. Perhaps, like you say, Limited Run Games could do, well, a limited run of each individual release for collectors. I can't imagine enough mass market demand for a wider release at wallet friendly prices and I also can't imagine any of those releases would be affordable as limited run individual releases.
@Anti-Matter "I don't even care AAA games with very gargantuan GB size until more than 100 GB so I will not miss a thing." which is slightly ironic considering you also comment on articles about those games.
People who don't care about certain games or types of games don't usually go posting in discussions about them
@The_Blue_Mage while I appreciate that this release isn't cheap I've long disagreed with the view that games should be effectively worthless after X amount of time.
@RoboCube perhaps it is silly. It's essentially an approach to keep a steady stream of listeners versus dumping it all and only retaining the few. Every time a new sound track gets added, there'd be a burst of listeners. Whether all this is better compared to just putting everything at one go is something we wouldn't know since we don't have listener numbers and the Nintendo Music app is a completely different use case to Spotify or YouTube Music.
@DTFaux "Square Enix and other companies continue to underestimate our willingness to pay a "tax" if it means having a non-GKC cart."
This is kinda short sighted thinking and those willing to pay it would be a very small number (meaning a greater percentage drop in potential sales versus the current state where game key card games are selling well regardless of what ppl like anti matter say)
In normal human interaction, you wouldn't tell the StarFox art director, "Get a grip" to his face when he's just said the remake's visuals 'brought tears to his eyes'.
You're not even likely to say it to a stranger. I hope.
Edit: That's probably enough social media for me today.
Several (all) of my favourite special edition Nintendo consoles all seem to be Zelda-themed. I had the gold 3DS XL Zelda and still have OLED Switch Zelda
@kfflscnt the Switch 2 has more than 128gb storage space. But you already know that. Saying you need to spend 120 on a new micro SD express card is just being deliberately, how can I put this, maybe I'll just use the word annoying
@Mattock1987 "We’ve all got older and better at Zelda games, give us a challenge" - One of the biggest reasons for any remaster happening is to expand the audience to a new generation of players.
Nintendo have long worked on balancing challenge with accessibility. We'll see what solution they come up with for this one.
@hcpina I don't need to imagine what they would say to Tuesday's direct since gaming media has already reacted and it's not like the journalists of that day have passed on or retired. You trying to claim E3 2003 bring incredibly disappointing as some sort of proof that standards were sky high compared to today is incredibly suspect and attempts to rewrite what actually happened. The biggest Nintendo announcement at E3 2003 was PAC man vs. it was also the E3 where the famous bored journalists meme was born. Articles have been written about that E3 that show a very different picture from what you're projecting.
You're also completely ignoring the list of 3rd party games already announced before the direct and attempting to argue that Nintendo had better 3rd party support in the GameCube and Wii days. That's so far from being true that I don't know what to say. Flabbergasted is a term I'd use I guess.
Edit: As to why these messages have continued, I suppose I've been sufficiently annoyed by the openly condescending attitude being displayed to react to it. Should I be better that that? Perhaps. But I've got other crappy stuff happening which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy that means I don't care as much about whether I should react better to someones online ego.
@hcpina that's one heck of a monumental shifting of goalposts from a single E3 event to talking about a whole year while simultaneously ignoring the whole year's worth of 3rd party switch 2 releases and announcements. Either way, E3 2003 was infamous for being absolutely terrible for Nintendo. I've wasted enough time with you.
@hcpina elitist revisionist fantasy. I've lived through the SNES and while I can't remember to buy milk sometimes I can remember around 60 to 90 chess moves from previous matches so have a half decent memory.
The GameCube years had some great first party releases but terrible 3rd party support. You're painting a picture that each e3 was great. At the risk of digressing to first party releases, Wind waker and mario sunshine drew plenty of complaints. E3 2003 was just terrible for Nintendo so you probably made a typo adding it in
Action RPGs aren't RPGs. Warhammer is a 3rd person shooter, not an RPG.
The Switch 2 has been the first time in decades where Nintendo has had so many big name 3rd party releases and announcements in it's first 12 months.
@Friendly even some of us who have a gaming pc plus Switch 2 are happy. I do most of my gaming on my Switch 2 despite having a £1000+ pc. I already work on my pc all day so it's great to plonk on the couch or lie down in bed and game. Haven't even unwrapped the Switch 2 dock despite buying at launch day! 🤣
@hcpina That level of snark is unnecessary and it doesn't change that those are big releases announced in this Direct alone. More have been announced earlier include Call of Duty so, yeah, in terms of 3rd party support, this is miles better than the Gamecube days. You trying to paint your gaming tastes as being somehow more sophisticated leaves a sour taste
@Anti-Matter given that you're on record as preferring 'childish games' I imagine a Direct you rate 10/10 would end up being rated the worst worst worst ever
@15roundTKO Nintendo has pretty much the highest amount of franchises out of any developers - there'll ALWAYS be a dormant favourite and Nintendo makes it a point not to churn out releases.
@Regulus6891 thanks for sharing context. We already had a new Pokemon announced for 2027 - so it didn't need to be in this Direct. Zelda's Awakening is a remake, just like OoT so that's a near 1:1 copy. I think Tears of the Kingdom reveal was fantastic.
It would certainly feel disappointing not to get more of Nintendo's tentpole IPs other than the OoT remake. I'm sure they'll get announced in due time. Those tentpole IP releases tend to come once a generation.
@hcpina We have Stellar Blade, DMC, Onimusha, Dragons Dogma, Lords of the Fallen II , Warhammer - those aren't small games and they're not RPGs and 007 First Light would still come.
@hcpina "People who are now praising this direct have no idea what was like to grow up in the Gamecube and early Wii era." Very weird thought. Those of us who grew up in that era also felt the pain of 3rd parties skipping over their major releases - and now 3rd parties are bringing their big games to a Nintendo console. I also remember the scorn for Super Mario Sunshine. The Wii had the most invention but continued the terrible 3rd party support.
@RoguePenguin "The way they teased it kind of feels like punishment for the leak. It was like, “fine, but this is all you’re getting for now.”" More like, "this was the way we planned to tease it and we're not changing it just because of the leak"
@LuigiDude96 balanced against Nintendo guiding Platinum Games to make Bayonetta sexier (I think that was in reference to the Nintendo-specific costumes)
@LastFootnote Lol. Embarrassingly for me, seeing your response it's clear I mixed myself up and thought we were talking about updates to the Nintendo Today app.
Yeah - Nintendo would certainly have more control over the eShop and have that option of lining things up - I'd just be really wary of the time between hitting go on the last step and when it actually executes. Personally, I wouldn't want to leave that kind of timing to rely on someone doing that go bit at the time I need them to do so. Without knowing the inner workings, my guess is they wanted to manage loads and timings by rolling out the update earlier and time whatever it unlocks to a certain UTC time. Pure guess on my part.
@LastFootnote mostly because Nintendo does not control the Play store or the update processes for this. While I haven't published an app or worked directly on apps for app stores, I have been involved in a number of IT updates and there's usually several people involved and several processes involved - speaking broadly. Ultimately, they might be able to target specific days and time periods - trying to target the specific time of doing it, like x minutes after the Nintendo Direct, would end up feeling like throwing a dart at a tennis ball in motion.

Lackluster is often how Nintendo’s 2003 E3 showing is described, and with good reason: it just felt off.
https://nintendoeverything.com/nintendo-at-e3-a-look-back-e3-2002-and-e3-2003/ - E3 2003 was certainly more exciting from the perspective of available footage, but it is sort of known as one of Nintendo’s duds.
