Re: Cyberpunk 2077's Massive Switch 2 eShop Discount Was An "Error"

jsty3105

@GoldenSunRM That's not actually true. Unless your particular country has specific laws mandating that. Stores generally don't have to sell you an item that's been mispriced. They can choose to honour it but that's very different from them being required to sell you an item at an unintentional loss to themselves.

Re: Japanese Charts: Switch 2 And Mario Kart World Continue To Obliterate The Competition

@Anti-Matter to a very large extent, Southeast Asia is PlayStation land. The purchasing power there has been so low for decades that piracy flourished for a very long time. I believe that drove PS1 and PS2 sales across the region and conditioned customers those days to expect 50 to 100 games with every console purchase. Nobody really wanted to sell or buy a GameCube or N64 and only buy 1 game for them...

Re: Surprise! 'Skyrim Anniversary Edition' Lands On Switch 2 Today

jsty3105

@MamaSymphonia that's because it probably wasn't locked/developed to 30fps on ps5 or the PC.

If a PS4 game was developed to a locked 30fps and there was backwards compatibility for it on the PS5, there's no button for it to instantly play at 60fps. Ppl have to do some work and perhaps fix bugs created by the increased frame rate.

Case in point, lasers in Totk on the Switch 2 cause more damage compared to the Switch 1 just because of the increased frame rate.

And yeah, it does affect Nintendo's recent consoles more 🤷🏻‍♂️. Absolutely no arguement there. The benefit of gaming on a PC is that most things aren't locked to a specific target. I think there are some games where no amount of extra power will make a jot of difference but I can't yet think of any. Or perhaps I could be totally wrong about that

Re: Talking Point: Six Months Since Launch, How Would You Rate Switch 2?

jsty3105

@Filthy we are in agreement. 🤝

I'm just saying that even the mod will likely mean having a console design to fit a larger battery which in turn increases size and weight, not just the cost. You may have to deal with increased heat from the larger battery and design for that though, which may mean increased power consumption from fans etc which leads to less real battery life gains from the larger battery. Doubt the trade offs were worth it at launch. Looking forward to the revised model which improves battery life

Re: Talking Point: Six Months Since Launch, How Would You Rate Switch 2?

jsty3105

@Filthy presenting objective reality is being seeing as trolling? There are costs and trade offs to everything, especially on a handheld. I'd prefer more battery life too but even the top end new Xbox ally x has similar battery life.

Battery technology hasn't improved that much in recent years and as far as I've read, has largely stagnated.

Re: Talking Point: Six Months Since Launch, How Would You Rate Switch 2?

jsty3105

@Filthy Feels like you have unrealistic expectations for battery life and unrealistic ways to achieve better battery life.

The Switch 2's battery life is currently comparable with other performance-focused handhelds and is on par with the OG Switch. If there was a more efficient chipset during the planning and procurement phase that didn't cost more, there's no reason why they wouldn't use it.

Re: Reggie Is "Surprised" We Haven't Seen More Xbox Titles On Switch 2

@Toastmaster "...and Switch 2 cost nearly the same as the powerful Rog Ally and Legion Go PC Handhelds. 680$." Didn't the Legion Go launch in Canada for around CAD$950? And didn't the Switch 2 launch for 629? I don't recall a price increase in Canada. Maybe you're thinking of the Mario Kart World bundle?

Re: Switch 2 Sells Over 10 Million Units, Nintendo Increases Forecast Even Further

jsty3105

@Striker21 bold claim considering Sony has cancelled most of it's live service games plans. You didn't provide any source for the quotes - guessing it was from AI mode. I dug around to find out they came from a consulting firm's report.

Also, your base premise for all your suggestions is that "Nintendo's sales model heavily relies on nostalgia" - demonstrating you don't know their sales model or their business. The basis for your suggestions then is flawed and doesn't, in any way, support their current strategy or their strengths.

They also already have a subscription model that grants access to several classic games. Can that library be better? Sure. Should they go further and add more and charge more like your suggestion for 25 a month for day 1 releases? Nothing suggests that it would be a good idea and it sounds like a shareholder idea to try to chase the shrinking subscription money tree.

Your gamepass-like idea is also faster way to devalue their games than discounting them and Nintendo has been vocal about not devaluing them. It can be fun to discuss business approaches and ideas, but you're not even starting from the right place.

Re: Opinion: Third-Party Support For Switch 2 Is Already A Dream Come True

@Vyacheslav333 laptops have never, ever been portable gaming devices. You'd get laughed out of most gaming circles saying that, including the enthusiast pc ones.

Plus, I'm not sure how anyone can ever play on a laptop while standing up without a table or something to put the laptop on. Physically impossible for pretty much every game not named pacman
