Nice pair of additions! I wish Hamster would clarify what the deal is with Raiden! One of my faves! Played the hell out of it on my Genesis!! Also i Would love to see Crime City hit from Taito!! And weāre still waiting on Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands!! 2 definitive classics for sure!!
A direct rip off of Jet Set and Another missed opportunity by Sega! So thatās Jet Set and Crazy Taxi clones all in the same week Sega. But you just keep your classic franchises dormant š¤¦āāļø š
Itās a nice collection but they did leave quite a few classics out. Why stop at 3 packs?? A Pack 4 and pack 5 would cure that though but my gut feeling is there stopping with 3 packs....letās hope not.
@kingbk well said!! Iāve been saying this since Sega announced the Ages line was over!! I just donāt get the logic at all! Whoās running the show there?!? Countless Sega classics were left behind. My Ages wishlist was real long! I had some hope after Virtua Racing hit but nope! What a Disappointment!!
I had a hunch this wasnāt going to receive the greatest review and what are they smoking asking $35?? Sega you still have a chance to plug this hole. Crazy Taxi 1,2 Lost in NY and 3 High Roller from the OG Xbox pretty please! Now THOSE 3 Iād pay $35 for the whole bundle!! Cmon Sega Jeez!! So frustrating!!
@KingMike good point. And I wouldāve traded off a few titles for some more obscure others. I mean I already have Final Fight in 15 different console formats lol š so I wouldnāt miss that one here
@kingbk a lot gamers keep mentioning the Midway/Atari Arcade games lately and for good reason. Thereās just sooo many great games we donāt have on the Switch!! Iād kill to see it happen lol!!
This is a nice collection (are you paying attention Sega for the love of God???) at 32 games. Very nice. But that said, thereās plenty of Capcom classics missing like Super Buster Bros/Pang, Giga Wing 2, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, king of dragons, Magic Sword and many many others so I hope it does well enough and Capcom adds another 10 pack or two! ALSO- Iām on the fence about a digital purchase only because I feel like 6 months down the road a physical version will be announced! This happens a lot and forces me to double dip!! So I may hang back a little bit. If I DO go digital then I might actually opt for the Xbox One version first which will also be playable on series X!! But at LEAST Capcom hasnāt forgotten about its classic library....unlike other companies we know....ahem SEGA
$35 is a bit steep but as long as it doesnāt suck and it does fill the gap that Sega refuses to plug! I thought weād see Crazy Taxi in the ages line but nope! Denied!!
@Atariboy you stole my thunder! Lol Iād LOVE to see an Activision anthology again! The one they made for PS2 is an incredible collection but nothing since! Wishful thinking, they can even take it a step further and add titles from other consoles like Atari 5200 version of Megamania & River Raid, and 5200 exclusives like Dreadnought Factor, Zenji, Zone Ranger, Worm Whomper from the Intellivision console and maybe even Toy Bizarre that they published on the C64 computer! Never happen though lol š
@TempestStotm Assuming you ARE aware itās already available, if your waiting for sunset riders to go on sale youāll probably have to wait a long while as itās relatively new and a big title in the Hamster lineup. To many of us, itās well worth the regular asking price of $8. So Donāt wait itās such a great game well worth $8 IMO and so much fun with 2 players!
With Hamster having 240 or so games on the eshop this is a small selection of games here and I KNOW for a fact I grabbed Double Dragon during a previous Hamster sale way back and Iāve seen the weird Japanese game on sale a few times before too, so they need to increase the size of games on sale AND shake up the lineup a little bit too.
@sixrings yup I agree but Iād pay 10-15 bucks for games like crazy taxi, power drift, sega rally etc. I was actually shocked when Virtua Racing hit for only $8.00!
@Crazydiamond2112 yea who ever put that Ages line up together was drinking lol. We didnāt need 2 Puyo Puyo games for one thing. My Sega wishlist is Huge! After they gave us Virtua Racing, G-Loc & Outrun I thought they would finally give us more recent Sega arcade games! How could they possibly NOT give us: Crazy Taxi Virtua Cop 1&2 House of the Dead 1/2/3 Virtua Fighter 2&3 Sega Rally Championship Daytona USA Zaxxon Congo Bongo Pengo Virtua Tennis Power Drift Afterburner Scud Racer Turbo Outrun Super Hang On Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder And sooo many others! IT JUST DOESNāT MAKE ANY SENSE!
@sixrings I agree! And in case you didnāt know that Switch Genesis collection has 50 games on it and Golden Axe is on there and if I recall Golden Axe II as well.
@sixrings yea Sega baffles the hell out of me! Would be awesome if Sega and hamster can strike an agreement but i donāt see it happening. My Midway/Atari arcade games wish list is VERY long indeed!! Lol
@Crazydiamond2112 I forgot that AT&T owns Warner! But hopefully with Warner still running their own games division maybe we will get lucky....maybe. Omg donāt even get me started with Sega lol. That ages line couldāve been 50 games easy!! Unbelievable
I think Hamster is doing a fabulous job no complaints here. As knowledgeable as I thought I was on the arcade classics, thereās definitely been a few they put out that I never heard of or are turds. But as far as licensed games like Turtles etc, we will most likely NEVER see most of them ever! Good thing I have my modded original Xbox, Nes and Snes classic & Genesis mini loaded to the gills with classic arcade games!! š
Not selling one old game ever! Trying to educate my son on the value of my collection which goes back to the 2600, but all he plays is call of duty lol. But he shows some interest here and there. When I die I told him sell it all and use the money for you and your sister Unless you want to keep some of it lol.
@Bass_X0 Capcom yes but has Hamster has put out quite a few Konami games like Frogger, Scramble, Super Cobra, Contra, Sunset Riders and others Besides Capcom has their own collection coming up in February. Looking forward to that! š
@AtlanteanMan good points. Problem is though for any hope to see the Midway/Atari Games classics Hamster would have to strike a deal with Warner Bros who hasnāt done anything with the old games since the Midway Arcade Origins disc on PS3 and 360. Luckily I can play that title on my Xbox One and Series X Thx to BC! As far as Sega goes they had a chance with the Ages line on switch and for whatever stupid reason just ended the line. I was Very disappointed they did that. After Virtua Racing showed up, I had high hopes we were gonna see some real good ones from Sega but nope! š
@RushDawg I just donāt get it at all! Who the hell is making the decisions there?? I remember SOJ was constantly breaking SOAās shoes about many decisions but SOA is totally responsible for the success of the Genesis in the USA.
@WaveWitch donāt even get me started lol My Sega Ages wish list is longer then your leg 𤣠When I saw Virtua Racing hit I got high hopes for fresh Sega arcade oldies but nooooooo! If ONLY they wouldāve done what Hamster is doing! Oh the possibilities! 𤨠š
@FragRed absolutely makes no sense to me at all! Whatās even more baffling is the games that did make it to switch didnāt even make it to PS4 another tremendous audience! Sega really must not like money! š¤·āāļø
Not the same Konami for sure! I had some hope when they did the Anniversary collections but that came to a abrupt halt! If it wasnāt for the boys at Hamster we wouldnāt be getting ANY of Konamiās classic games on the Switch and PS4!! Ya gotta love ā¤ļø those Hamster fellas!!! šš
Would love to see crime city, Operation Wolf, Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands hit the Switch. A few Taito shooters like Flying Shark would do nicely as well!
Like a few here mentioned, a huge chunk of the Sega arcade catalogue is missing I guess Sega killed the switch ages lineup cause they donāt like money??? So still a big gap ANOTHER big gap is the lack of Midway/Atari arcade classics!! HUGE GAP- way too many awesome games to list!! Sorely missing! Cmon Warner Bros!!
@Beaucine Ahhh Moon Patrol! What a classic! Never forget the first time I saw it in the arcades. Later bought the Atari 5200 cart and was a pretty darn good port. Great game!
Was always a player for 40 years and still play today but due to life demands i have evolved more into a collector more and more. EVERY SINGLE TIME I promised myself Iām gonna dive into a game I bought it doesnāt happen. I own more than 7000 retail games with more than half probably still factory sealed with many more in mint condition and thousands more games downloaded so my backlog is insane! I try to play whenever possible but with having a family with 2 kids in college, an English bulldog puppy, watching after my health AND 50 plus hours a week running a business itās nothing close to when i was a teenager with zero responsibility. Damn I wish I was 17 again!! Sooo many games to play and no time to play them!
Some of my physical collection highlights included:
Complete Atari 5200 LIBRARY
177 Atari 2600 games

I still maintain that the Switch eshop store just plain stinks! If only Nintendo can at least mirror the layout of the Wii U eshop - just that move alone would be a tremendous improvement!! I just donāt get why they donāt improve the Switch eshop š¤·āāļø And Navigating 1300 games on sale is a big huge pain in the butt and takes too long!
I have to get it just because of Extreme alone! I ordered the invincible bundle from Strictly Limited but yes I agree 3 titles is really skimping out! At LEAST throw in the various classic iterations??
