It's been a mixed time for Super Mario fans lately. After successfully launching Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury last month, the threat of delisting still looms for several Super Mario games later this month, including Super Mario 3D All-Stars.
That's not stopping it from celebrating Mario's iconic history with MAR10 day, and with two days to go, Nintendo has gotten an early jump. For 2021, we've got five games available at a discount in North America from today.
Sadly, this isn't available in Europe, and you can find the full list below.
- Luigi’s Mansion 3 – $38.99 (was $59.99)
- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 - $38.99 (was $59.99)
- Mario Tennis Aces – $38.99 (was $59.99)
- Super Mario Maker 2 – $38.99 (was $59.99)
- Super Mario Party – $38.99 (was $59.99)
These are live on the Switch eShop until March 13th, ending at 11:59 PM PT. If you'd prefer a physical copy instead, Amazon and Best Buy have similar offers going.

"the threat of delisting" It isn't a threat it's happening.
Can anybody vouch for Mario Tennis Aces? I'm kind of interested, but even at the sale price I'm not sure...kind of wanted to hear from the community on this one.
@Giygas_95 I have put quite a few hours into it. I didn't like the campaign so I didn't play much but my friend enjoyed it when i loaned him the game. Online multiplayer is fun but it shines in local multiplayer, especially four players with randomised teams. My wife, friend, his Gf and myself had many a fun night playing this with a few drinks. Yano, back when that sort of thing was legal!
Wish they'd expand the discounts to more of their catalog. Seems like these are always the games that get "minor" discounts.
@cleveland124 I wish they would cut the price of NSMBUD. It’s nearly ten years old. I have not played the Luigi levels yet.
Would it really have been that much more trouble to have offered more games than just these four?
Edit: Now it's 5 games (Only shows four in the Switch news feed). But still, Captain Toad, Odyssey or NSMBD couldn't have been included? 3D All-stars?
@Jedge396 Okay, so maybe it's not worth it for me since I'm 99% a single player...thanks for the input!
@Giygas_95 I found it pretty ‘meh’, which was a shame as some of the previous titles were fantastic.
No equivalent sale for Europe, what a joke Nintendo are!
When I got the news thing on my Switch, it didn't show Mario & Sonic on sale, only Aces, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Maker, and Super Mario Party.
Only games I would've considered buying in a sale are MarioKart and Mario Odyssey. They're likely just trying to sell more of their least popular titles, and they're the least popular for a reason.
Who is Marten?
Pass. Waiting on discounts on Kart, 3D World or Captain Toad.
I have all these games but my daughter, who just got a Switch Lite does not. Gonna have to pick up Odyssey & LM3!
@Giygas_95
Don't do it, I regretted it.
And no one is ever online.
@TheFullAndy "It's a promise"
@RudeAnimat0r You're the one that doesn't have Kart?
@Franklin Duly noted. Sounds like I'll be skipping it.
Luigi's Mansion 3 and Mario Maker 2 are great.
@TryToBeHopeful Apparently. I don't have Switch Online and obviously am not hosting friends during a pandemic, so kind of seems pointless, especially for $60?
@andyg1412 I know, it's hilarious when a revenue maximizing corporation maximizes revenue. A real knee slapper.
Meanwhile, the rest of the world will celebrate iothmar day, whatever that is.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a steal at this price.
Super Mario Party was a very vanilla experience. Back on the GameCube ones, they incorporated lots of characters and boards from other games. Why not incorporate boards based on Mario Odyssey? The characters from those different kingdoms have had no appearances outside of of Odyssey itself. The Piantas from Sunshine were in everything at the time (double dash, tennis, paper mario ttyd...) It’s a shame to waste them. Give us a Luigi’s Mansion Board with different floors, or a Bowsers fury board with all sorts of chaos happening, or a mario maker board or a galaxy board. There’s so much potential for a Mario Party game right now.
@RudeAnimat0r I've never played Kart online (I'd be crap I'm sure), but I've still found single player (and occasional couch co-op) fun. It's an objectively good game.
Can't go wrong with Luigi's Mansion 3 - great game with some incredible animation and loads of humorous touches.
@Giygas_95
It's enjoyable playing with friends but single player it sucks and the campaign was a bit pointless and really short. Would I really liked some sort of career mode.
Hope the campaign in better in up coming golf game
@TryToBeHopeful I don't doubt it. I just know in my experience I fall off sp racing games pretty quickly. I had MK7 on 3DS and got really bored really quickly.
I also have a Lite so local isn't really an option. I'd get it for $40, maybe, to play online with friends.
@RudeAnimat0r I think of it more as a big screen game, really!
Too bad. I'm waiting for a Paper Mario and Pikmin sale. I thought it would be Paper Mario day
@suikoden Yeah, so far the message everybody is sending me is that it's fun with friends but not for single player. I'm almost exclusively a single player so I'll avoid.
@Giygas_95 it’s a great multiplayer game. I put in over 100 hours online. It’s not really worth it for the single player campaign although was short and fun but more of a tutorial, kind of like splatoon on Wii u but online was great when I last played it.
@Giygas_95 It plays a fantastic game of tennis, gameplay wise it's as good as video game tennis gets. It looks the part too. But, as a single player, it's only worth buying to play online, the story mode is not worth bothering with. Sadly, I doubt there are too many playing it online now. There used to be. I played it for around 30 hours but haven't put it on in ages after a few unsuccessful attempts at finding an opponent.
@Giygas_95 I also vote pass. If you saw it used or something for like $20, and you're craving some arcade style tennis action, grab it then. It's a decent game, even single-player, but it's probably not worth the $39 - especially if you won't be playing local multiplayer. I bought it day one at full price and beat it in just a couple sessions. While I don't exactly regret it, I do realize it probably wasn't the best choice.
@Jedge396 what an interesting response.
“Legal” as in the government is stepping on your civil rights and liberties by not allowing you to gather to play some video games? As opposed to a deadly virus that’s killed over 500,000 Americans so you’re slightly inconvenienced by not gathering with friends and spreading said virus?
@Ks123 He's clearly saying he's not doing it now, because it's no longer legal.
@Ks123 Oh piss off. Clearly wasn't making any comment towards the restrictions.
@Giygas_95 no problem
@TryToBeHopeful but it is, that’s my point. It is legal. I don’t know where he’s located, but the federal and state governments in the United States haven’t made it illegal to meet with people. There are just strong and definitive guidelines about a communicable respiratory illness spreading easily through your group if you decide, for example, to have a Mario Tennis party at your house. Nobody’s civil liberties are being trampled here. Let’s get a grip.
@Jedge396 choice of language is important. It wasn’t “clearly” otherwise you wouldn’t have chosen the word “legal” instead of “I’m caring about my friends and family and not throwing Video game parties”
@andyg1412 boring answer I know but it’s only due to date formatting. The USA go with month/ /day /year and uk/europe the standard is day /month then year so its Mar 10 (march 10th/Mar10 day!) in the usa. In Europe it is technically 10Mar and whoever heard of 10Mar day?
Surprised they didn't put Super Mario 3D All-Stars in the sale to rub it in.
@placidcasual "Whoever heard of 10Mar?" I think Mega Man Battle Network 3 made a Mario reference near the beginning, but the localization made it less obvious (maybe figuring Nintendo in one country would get more upset over a harmless joke than the other ).
@Ks123 I'm in the UK. I have followed our regulations closely and I'm a key worker who has still been working with young people with severe learning difficulties throughout the pandemic so have a think about other people's contributions and situations before you rant at an innocent comment because you don't agree with the wording. Did I once mention civil liberties? No, I was simply making clear that what I was referring to was in the past
So no discount on SMO then?
@Jedge396 I applaud your contributions and the work that you do to help those less fortunate. That’s amazing and I celebrate you. I hope you’ve been able to be vaccinated. Even more important why words matters, because your story is so admirable. In the US we have lots of deadbeats who burn masks and blame the government because they’re inconvenienced by missing their local BBQ.
Wow, look at those incredible deals! /s 🙄
@Giygas_95
I was a big fan of the N64 original and the 3DS version but I honestly couldn’t recommend the switch one. Especially as a single player game.
@electrolite77 I liked the N64 one where they introduced Waluigi. I also liked the Gamecube Tennis and Golf games where the intro cinematics had Wario and Waluigi getting up to all sorts of no good.
Is Mario and Sonic a good couch party game?
Why no last minute discount on 3D allstars?
@andyg1412 well, Mario is American after all.
/s
What a lame sale
@AZD1222
Always thought he was Italian , not a American Italian
@suikoden
Was in jest. On another related note

Mario Tennis is very tempting, but it would immediately put into the backlog due to work and school demands. By the time I'd be able play it once my courses are finished, Mario Golf will be out and that is the far more attractive option to me. Bleh, I'm a socially awkward male in my 30s with no life outside of work, backlogs shouldn't exist for me 😭😭😭
@Jedge396 Weird that I immediately understood. Maybe because I'm in the UK as well, and it is about legality?
If the stimulus check drops soon, I might pick up Super Mario Party.
@AZD1222 er isn't he Italian, hang on he's nothing because he doesn't actually exist. He's a resident of Pixelville.
@Giygas_95 I wasn't a fan of the "super attacks" (I forget the name). It felt cheap offensively and borderline unblockable on defense.
And I know Mario sports are fun because of the gimmicks but the gimmicks here felt it hampered it to me
@Alienfreaks04 Oh I agree. I remember my brother got up to like the highest level in tournaments trying to unlock everything in the game on the Gamecube Mario Tennis. Every single time he'd almost beat Peach she'd just use a super attack and block it. Every. Single. Time.
Always hesitant to buy games digitally on a Nintendo console cause it’s usually doubtful that your purchases will come forward to the next console. Wii and Wii U and with Sony, PS3 are good examples of this. So for me, any digital purchase that’s over $15- $20 requires my careful considerations! So If there is a “Switch 2” in our future, I hope it will be BC!! Would be nice! We already know ps5 won’t be running your PS3 digital purchases so I can’t help but consider them almost history! All that being said I still find Luigi’s Mansion 3 quite tempting lol 😂
@Jedge396 So many americans love to think everyone they’re talking to online lives in their country, it’s always so strange to me, it’s like they don’t realise other countries exist. Dude, thanks for being a key worker for our country in this difficult time!
Happy Mar9 Day everybody else~
Still no discounts announced here in the UK. Is that because it's actually going to be IOMAR day?
@placidcasual in the UK we had Gamecentral on Teletext which used the Mar10 method of dates, we were celebrating MARIO day years before Nintendo latched on to the idea.
@placidcasual Great username!
@andyg1412 yeah I’m UK too- weirdly still miss teletext, simpler times
@Giygas_95 Mario Tennis Aces is BRILLIANT, honestly!! I have had SO much fun with thsi one, especially online. The different techniques are fantastic...VERY enjoyable (I have racked up over 500 hours on it!)
@Toads-Friend Thanks for your input! However, it sounds like there's not a lot of single player content and also not many people online anymore...That kind of deters me from getting it.
I love mario I beat super mario Odyssey
"Threat of delisting"
You know you live in a first world country when a game getting removed from a digital shop is a "threat".
I wonder when Europe is going to announce discounts after February Fest.
