Re: Sega Plans To Leverage More Past IP With 'Remasters, Remakes, Reboots'

joey302

So why exactly are you letting other publishers put out the likes of the Panzer series and more recently House of the dead when you should/could be publishing them yourself??
You killed the Sega Ages line in short order & ONLY had them on switch excluding ps4 and Xbox and on top of that, left tons of Sega classics in the war chest. I don’t get the decision making. At all.
Where’s Crazy Taxi?
Out run?
Jet Set Radio?
Sega rally championship?
Daytona USA?
Etc etc etc

Re: Atari Acquires Video Game Database MobyGames For $1.5 Million

@KITG_GROUP Sega was so concerned about the Jaguar that’s why the 32x was developed. But the Jag as we all know suffered badly by a series of bad decisions by the Tramiel family.
I always say if Nolan Bushnell never sold to Warner OR at least in turn Warner didn’t get cold feet and sell to the Tramiel family one can only wonder where Atari would be today! 🤔

Re: Nintendo Says It Wants To Avoid A Repeat Of Wii U With Switch's Successor

joey302

@electrolite77 i guess I can give them a pass going from a change in format from Wii U discs to switch game cards. But I won’t be so forgiving this time around. I own over 400 physical switch games and have a 1TB memory card with 90G memory left! Lol
Sony realized it enabling ps5 to play PS4 games & hopefully Nintendo will also. They better! 😆

Re: Nintendo Says It Wants To Avoid A Repeat Of Wii U With Switch's Successor

joey302

I just hope that the next console is fully backwards compatible with switch for both digital and physical games!! It was bad enough that all the money I spent on Wii and and Wii U didn’t come forward at least digitally! I hope they’re strongly considering this! People will be very upset if their switch purchases can’t come forward!!

Re: Talking Point: WATA And The Grey Areas Of Game Preservation - Is There Any Better Way?

Several thoughts here: Emulation is the only answer I see for now. I love that I have some modded systems with thousands of games ready to go because let’s face it, We all know that Tons of old classic games will NEVER EVER see the light of day ever again for one reason or another. And while some companies in the industry deserve kudos for their efforts of releasing old games on current hardware which I ALWAYS will support every time with my wallet, it’s simply not nearly good enough imo. There’s sooo many awesome games younger players missed and older gamers for that matter!! Then you get strange (or greedy) moves with Sega for example reissuing Sonic Colors (a good move), the Monkey Ball series, Genesis collection but then they turn around asking $40 for the Origins collection, for a mere four 16-bit Sonic games included?? I thought Origins was going to be a much bigger collection! Too expensive be it digital or physical for what’s on offer. You gotta hand it to Microsoft in doing a pretty damn good job with their backwards compatible efforts. Then you have collectors like me who has been working on building up his Jaguar library and holy cow are some of those games very expensive!!! If it wasn’t so damn hard to emulate the Jag I’d save some serious cash! Lastly, you just gotta love ❤️ what Hamster is doing with their one classic a week program. While some complain about the $8 per game price tag this is your big chance to legit own tons of classic arcade games on Switch & ps4!! Just wish they didn’t stop making them for Xbox! I totally believe in game preservation but I just think there’s too many damn roadblocks to preserve most of them. Hope they figure it all out!

Re: Random: Where's Ms. Pac-Man in Pac-Land?

joey302

There were video games back in 1884?? 🤣

Seriously so how did Namco manage to get Ms Pac-Man onto PS4 and Xbox One?? What was the loophole? Or did they pony up the dough to AT Games? In fact the games are still available to purchase right now! I don’t get it 🤔

Re: Konami Announces Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection For Switch

joey302

@hypercoyote I’m just amazed of this announcement especially being from lazy bones Konami who is another example of all these companies that let their classic IP lay dormant. But this collection is just fabulous for me personally with the Arcade, Snes and Sega Genesis tiles in here! And Physical too!! Can’t ask for more than that!!
I’m getting closer and closer to maybe finally unhooking my 360 lol 😂

Re: Atari Acquires Video Game Database MobyGames For $1.5 Million

@KITG_GROUP Great job!! I just ordered a bunch of Jaguar and 7800 games as well from Atari Age.
One correction though- the Atari 5200 was created and produced by the original Atari NOT the Tramiel family. They had zero interest in the game market when they purchased the Atari home division from Warner, hence the ST computer being their first consumer product. Also the 7800 was released in very limited quantities in June of 1984 right before Atari was sold to the Tramiels. When they took over thousands of Atari employees were let go and the 7800 was halted and shelved to concentrate on the ST. Finally in 1986 once the Tramiel family saw how great Nintendo was doing with the NES, they started to put the 7800 back on the map. But it was no contest Nintendo as we all know crushed them and Sega for that matter. But the 7800 is a very underrated system and was almost just as powerful as the Nes but hardly had any games. The 7800 is also the first game system to be fully backwards compatible with a previous console (2600) right out of the box. Good stuff! Still have my 7800 & Jaguar hooked up for those homebrews! Love my Atari systems 45 years later lol.

Re: Atari Acquires Video Game Database MobyGames For $1.5 Million

@HammerGalladeBro Once recognized as the fastest growing company in American history, the ORIGINAL Atari company founded in the early 70s was loaded with video game & hardware design geniuses and innovation galore. The problems started when Nolan Bushnell the owner sold the company to Warner Bros in (1977?) because he needed cash Capital to mass produce the Atari 2600 console. But Warner Bros had no clue how to run a technology company and their focus on marketing and advertising took their attention away from the source of Atari’s strength this being the R&D sector. They also thought the 2600 would last forever and never duplicated that success again. The 5200 and 7800 never came close. The 2600 was obsolete by 1982 according to Bushnell. And Dumb deals like paying Steven Speilberg $25 million for ET license and giving the programmer a mere 5 weeks to make the game & be out by Christmas didn’t help along with a crappy Pac Man port. Average length of time creating a 2600 game was 6-8 months back then for 1 single designer. Also Warner bigwigs treated key Atari game designers like David Crane and Bob Whitehead like crap and so they went on to start Activision who went on to make some of the best 2600 games ever made and most of the them still very fun to play today! Steve Jobs helped create the classic game Super Breakout!
Atari was king at home on consoles, with home computers and of course in the Arcades with tons of classic games to their credit. When the crash of 83 started and Atari was losing $500M Warner Bros panicked and sold the home division to the Tramiel family (Commodore 64) in 1984 (Lynx and Jaguar Atari) In late 1983 Nintendo even approached Atari to distribute the NES in America because they knew that despite the game crash Atari was a household name. By that time though Atari was such a mess that the deal fell through. Tons of history there way too much to mention here just Wiki them and read up. Absolutely fascinating stuff. The marketing wars with Intellivision, the surprise that was Colecovision and so on. All of us gamers and the game industry owes a debt of gratitude to the original Atari company. It’s where this all started.

Re: Feature: 23 Best Wii U eShop Games You Should Get Before They're Gone Forever

joey302

Just about 1/2 of these games can be had on Sony and Microsoft consoles (like Duck Tales & Chronicles) so not too bad if you have one or both of those systems. But NES remix games really need to come to Switch and I can’t believe Dr Luigi (or Dr Mario for that matter) hasn’t hit the switch yet. The whole thing still stinks to high heaven regardless! I hope Nintendo is gonna have BC with switch games when their next console drops or people are REALLY gonna be pissed off lol including me who has a 1TB SD card with only 100G space left 😂
