@Joekun I definitely wanna check out Atari Karts! I read it was actually pretty good and I’ve been looking to buy a copy of the game but man it runs between $400-$600. Brand new I saw it for $2 Grand!! Crazy
@thinkhector yes the remakes/originals sounds interesting. While I was a huge 2600/5200 fan, for me the games being added from the 7800 Lynx and Jaguar libraries are big and obviously first time to be accessible on the current gen consoles. The 7800 has a few gems from Atari themselves that I’m looking forward to.
@thinkhector although there’s not too much on the Jag to pick from that are gems besides Tempest 2000 there are other great Jag games but we likely won’t see stuff like Defender 2000 or Aliens Vs Predator unfortunately. But just the thought of having some Jaguar games on the new consoles for the first time is pretty cool I think. Atari ST no clue what they can grab from there. Atari 7800 was an very underrated system that of course got smoked by the NES but has quite a few very good original Atari games. Desert Falcon Dark Chambers Food Fight Planet Smashers Asteroids 7800 version is great Ninja Golf Ballblazer Fatal Run Alien Brigade Midnight Mutants Scrapyard Dog Centipede Motor Psycho I hope to see all these included! 😊
Wow!! As a gamer who grew up with Atari in the house in the late 70s this is cool. The additions of the 7800, Lynx and Jaguar for me is a big surprise too. Jaguar is sooo darn tough to emulate just like the N64 is. Great to see that these 3 Atari consoles will finally be represented on modern consoles!! Looking forward to the game lineup! Hopefully will be a physical version as well!
@kingbk would love to see that! Too bad Warner Bros owns all that IP along with the Midway classics and doing nothing with it! Biggest and most important gap of classic arcade games missing on the Switch!
@jhess826 well being Microsoft bought Activision I am hopeful for an Activision 2600 Anthology like they had on PlayStation 2! That was awesome! Still can’t play Kaboom properly without Atari paddles though!
@Bomberman64 yes SFZ was on Wii I remember thinking holy cow & purchased immediately. I also remember asking myself why wouldn’t Sega bring this & other games like the Japanese shooters to Genesis? It was always a strange thing how they decided what game was released in what region. Usually JRPGs suffered the most with the heavy language translations required. But I’m glad all today’s consoles are region free. Yea Silly of me to assume Every single Mega Drive game came to Europe and Japan forgetting that the majority of us don’t speak or read any Japanese 🤪 Lol
@Bomberman64 from what Ive always understood, Europe and Japan shared all the mega drive releases while North America/Canada was Genesis. We did NOT receive an official Genesis release of SFZ or other games like Turbo Outrun. Come to think of it i hope Sega puts and Outrun game on this Mini 2! That would be cool.
@Bomberman64 in case no one answered you it is likely the mega drive version of Fantasy Zone which never came west to us Genesis fans. I ended up importing the mega drive cart because I was such a huge fan of Master System games! Good stuff
@kingbk oh baby that would be awesome! Paper Boy Robotron 2084 Smash TV Moon Patrol Defender Joust Roadblasters San Francisco Rush Hydro Thunder Tapper Satans Hollow Spy Hunter Gauntlet Xybots and so many others Big gap of missing classics on switch!
I find it hard to believe that Namco can’t pony up the dough Ray me to get Ms Pac Man in this collection. Not only that but Ms Pac Man Maze Madness (Dreamcast, psone,N64) is a great game that could’ve been included as well! Also what happened to the snes and Genesis Pac- Man adventure? Jeez forgot the name but I remember I liked it despite an odd control method.
The WORST digital store front I’ve ever experienced hands down!! What a pain in the ass! Can’t even navigate the truck ton of weekly sales you just can’t get that far because at some point it reloads the page and brings you back to the top of the list!!!! Pure agony!! The Wii U eshop BLOWS this away!!! Terrible
@Moroboshi876 I agree completely and still waiting for my Turrican collection from January 2021!! If SLG didn’t take so long getting the games to us I’d order a lot more from them like I do with LR. I nabbed the PS4 Wonder Boy but Switch was sold out. So now as I understand the ININ games will eventually hit stores but will only have the 4 games like the digital copy ughh that’s terrible 😞
@DDFawfulGuy I remember when a console reaching a million in sales (Atari 5200/7800) was a big deal and guaranteed 3rd party support. No way I think the Cube was a failure it, with Xbox just basically got crushed by ps2 that’s all it was.
@Danrenfroe2016 thats a small number actually. My highest count is Wii with over 900 physical games easily. Lol but yes I’m a collector as well as a gamer but also 1/2 the games I buy is with the intent of playing them but with running a business, wife, 2 kids, a bulldog just kills most of each week lol so I never get around to most of them.
So why exactly are you letting other publishers put out the likes of the Panzer series and more recently House of the dead when you should/could be publishing them yourself??
You killed the Sega Ages line in short order & ONLY had them on switch excluding ps4 and Xbox and on top of that, left tons of Sega classics in the war chest. I don’t get the decision making. At all.
Where’s Crazy Taxi?
Out run?
Jet Set Radio?
Sega rally championship?
Daytona USA?
Etc etc etc
@KITG_GROUP Sega was so concerned about the Jaguar that’s why the 32x was developed. But the Jag as we all know suffered badly by a series of bad decisions by the Tramiel family. I always say if Nolan Bushnell never sold to Warner OR at least in turn Warner didn’t get cold feet and sell to the Tramiel family one can only wonder where Atari would be today! 🤔
@electrolite77 i guess I can give them a pass going from a change in format from Wii U discs to switch game cards. But I won’t be so forgiving this time around. I own over 400 physical switch games and have a 1TB memory card with 90G memory left! Lol Sony realized it enabling ps5 to play PS4 games & hopefully Nintendo will also. They better! 😆
@darthstuey I’m actively collecting Jag games as well! Damn some of them are expensive! But just like N64, the Jag console is about impossible to emulate! Even if it was easy to emulate it wouldn’t stop me from collecting them though!
I just hope that the next console is fully backwards compatible with switch for both digital and physical games!! It was bad enough that all the money I spent on Wii and and Wii U didn’t come forward at least digitally! I hope they’re strongly considering this! People will be very upset if their switch purchases can’t come forward!!
Simply not buying it until there’s a physical release and when it’s $20. They’re crazy asking $40 for a digital copy of 4 old Sonic games and I already have all 4 games a zillion ways! GOTTA GET GREEDY FAST!
Several thoughts here: Emulation is the only answer I see for now. I love that I have some modded systems with thousands of games ready to go because let’s face it, We all know that Tons of old classic games will NEVER EVER see the light of day ever again for one reason or another. And while some companies in the industry deserve kudos for their efforts of releasing old games on current hardware which I ALWAYS will support every time with my wallet, it’s simply not nearly good enough imo. There’s sooo many awesome games younger players missed and older gamers for that matter!! Then you get strange (or greedy) moves with Sega for example reissuing Sonic Colors (a good move), the Monkey Ball series, Genesis collection but then they turn around asking $40 for the Origins collection, for a mere four 16-bit Sonic games included?? I thought Origins was going to be a much bigger collection! Too expensive be it digital or physical for what’s on offer. You gotta hand it to Microsoft in doing a pretty damn good job with their backwards compatible efforts. Then you have collectors like me who has been working on building up his Jaguar library and holy cow are some of those games very expensive!!! If it wasn’t so damn hard to emulate the Jag I’d save some serious cash! Lastly, you just gotta love ❤️ what Hamster is doing with their one classic a week program. While some complain about the $8 per game price tag this is your big chance to legit own tons of classic arcade games on Switch & ps4!! Just wish they didn’t stop making them for Xbox! I totally believe in game preservation but I just think there’s too many damn roadblocks to preserve most of them. Hope they figure it all out!
Seriously so how did Namco manage to get Ms Pac-Man onto PS4 and Xbox One?? What was the loophole? Or did they pony up the dough to AT Games? In fact the games are still available to purchase right now! I don’t get it 🤔
The whole thing is pathetic. Wii U has better legacy offerings. And I still can’t understand why there’s no purchase option if you want to buy and download any of your favorites! Makes no sense.
I hope they did a good job here because it’s one of my favorites! I don’t need gyro controls either I’m used the pad controls all the way back to the Saturn playing original HOTD and Virtua Cop games.
Soooo you can’t name your own folders a la Playstation? Weird and dumb. Switch still has the worst digital storefront ever. Even Wii U’s layout blows it away.
@hypercoyote I’m just amazed of this announcement especially being from lazy bones Konami who is another example of all these companies that let their classic IP lay dormant. But this collection is just fabulous for me personally with the Arcade, Snes and Sega Genesis tiles in here! And Physical too!! Can’t ask for more than that!! I’m getting closer and closer to maybe finally unhooking my 360 lol 😂
@KITG_GROUP Great job!! I just ordered a bunch of Jaguar and 7800 games as well from Atari Age. One correction though- the Atari 5200 was created and produced by the original Atari NOT the Tramiel family. They had zero interest in the game market when they purchased the Atari home division from Warner, hence the ST computer being their first consumer product. Also the 7800 was released in very limited quantities in June of 1984 right before Atari was sold to the Tramiels. When they took over thousands of Atari employees were let go and the 7800 was halted and shelved to concentrate on the ST. Finally in 1986 once the Tramiel family saw how great Nintendo was doing with the NES, they started to put the 7800 back on the map. But it was no contest Nintendo as we all know crushed them and Sega for that matter. But the 7800 is a very underrated system and was almost just as powerful as the Nes but hardly had any games. The 7800 is also the first game system to be fully backwards compatible with a previous console (2600) right out of the box. Good stuff! Still have my 7800 & Jaguar hooked up for those homebrews! Love my Atari systems 45 years later lol.
@HammerGalladeBro Once recognized as the fastest growing company in American history, the ORIGINAL Atari company founded in the early 70s was loaded with video game & hardware design geniuses and innovation galore. The problems started when Nolan Bushnell the owner sold the company to Warner Bros in (1977?) because he needed cash Capital to mass produce the Atari 2600 console. But Warner Bros had no clue how to run a technology company and their focus on marketing and advertising took their attention away from the source of Atari’s strength this being the R&D sector. Steve Jobs helped create the classic game Super Breakout! Atari was king at home on consoles, with home computers and of course in the Arcades with tons of classic games to their credit. When the crash of 83 started and Atari was losing $500M Warner Bros panicked and sold the home division to the Tramiel family (Commodore 64) in 1984 (Lynx and Jaguar Atari) In late 1983 Nintendo even approached Atari to distribute the NES in America because they knew that despite the game crash Atari was a household name. By that time though Atari was such a mess that the deal fell through. Tons of history there way too much to mention here just Wiki them and read up. Absolutely fascinating stuff. The marketing wars with Intellivision, the surprise that was Colecovision and so on. All of us gamers and the game industry owes a debt of gratitude to the original Atari company. It’s where this all started.
What a crappy limited collection! I just don’t get it! Sooo many Taito classics missing here! Jeez!! To add insult to injury it’s way overpriced! So this won’t sell and any chance of a Volume 2 will be killed off. Stop being so greedy Square!!

Re: Review: Taito Milestones - An Oddly Meagre Collection Of Coin-Op Classics
What a crappy limited collection! I just don’t get it! Sooo many Taito classics missing here! Jeez!! To add insult to injury it’s way overpriced! So this won’t sell and any chance of a Volume 2 will be killed off. Stop being so greedy Square!!
