Pikmin Bloom, a new Pokémon GO-like app that has you walking around the real world while tending to your Pikmin, has started to roll out worldwide. If you've been thinking about giving it a go or want to learn what all the fuss is about, make sure to check out Nintendo's brand new overview trailer above.
The new video goes over several of the game's mechanics, letting you see first-hand how monitoring your steps translates to growing and looking after your Pikmin pals. We recently shared a full review of the app, too, noting that Bloom is a far more relaxed experience than Pokémon GO that's more of a glorified pedometer than a 'game'.
If you are thinking of checking it out for yourself, you might want to get familiar with everything it has to offer before 13th November, when the app will hold its first Community Day. Details on that can be found here.
Have you been playing Pikmin Bloom? How have you been getting on? Let us know in the comments.

I've been enjoying it. I always get at least 6k steps in just walking to my train station most days of the week. Plus the walk back and what I'm doing around town. It's nice to sort out my stuff once I'm sat in the pub. Problem I have is absolutely nobody else seems to be playing. All the flowers are definitely just mine. Bit sad.
Been using it since it launched in the uk. Never understood the appeal of Pokemon go or most mobile games but I’m loving this. Keep checking it many times each day. Helps that even in the winter months I love good walks.
My only issue with the game so far is how inaccurate it is with counting steps, I've compared it with a pedometer and the game seems to under count by 100s.
To my surprise I've seen flowers planted by other players, didn't think I'd see that in my area.
It’s pretty good and it’s free, no complaints
I love pikmin!
@Mattock1987 If you're not paying for the product, you are the product.
Still unsure about Pikmin Bloom? Don't bother.
@hypercoyote fine by me, I’ll be returned soon.
Pikmin Bloom is a glorified pedometer. And apparently you have to plant seeds.
Here is how it would have sucked less, and would have been more of a game:
The app on your phone/your phone represents the onion. In a cut scene you are introduced to your first (red) pikmin. The other colored Pikmkn need to be found.
Monsters can be found everywhere in your neighborhood. You know the bulborbs and such. These can also be fought with your Pikmin. You throw the pikmin by swiping on your screen. Different colored Pikmin are used for different monsters, and maybe also given the location where the monster has spawned.
The game should have revolved around finding upgrades to you phone/onion and finding fruit for money. Both of which are always protected by monsters.
Upgrades could encompass all sorts of radars for monsters, upgrades, fruit, other players, and so on.
The money you make with fruit could be used to buy stuff, but also initiates a ranking system. Together with stats such as total Pikmin lost, monsters killed, etc.
Sadly, I think its just a wasted opportunity the have come up with Pikmin Bloom in this form instead
It's a bit mindfulness-like and I'm into it!
I was hoping to fight some animals, collecting random items in my paths with my pikmin... planting flowers is fine and all, but the action in this is limited atm. But this is it's launch, I'm hoping it'll get better in time like POGO.
I really really wanted to like it. I love pikmin. After 30 minutes though I uninstalled it. It feels half baked. Additionally it ran terribly on my iPhone 8 which didn’t help my enjoyment. Maybe after some updates it will be fun but if you just want a basic pedometer you’re better off with any other app. I’ll be waiting for Pikmin 4.
...Still unable to play it because my phone isn't supported by it for some reason...still. >.>
I'm enjoying it, it's not something I have to be actively be playing but I like to turn it on while I'm walking. My biggest problem with the game is that I don't have much to work for, I can walk to get pikmin but I already have enough to do the 2-4 expeditions I see at a time, and I don't need more flowers or nectar
Ive been “playing” it since it launched but not sure how much longer Ill have it on my phone. Seems pretty pointless.
