Shame about the online requirement. I'm flying nearly 4 hours this Sunday, would be nice to be able to spend some time on SMR... Oh well, guess I'll have to work instead 😅
Wonder if Geoff Keighley will mention/criticize Nintendo for this, like he did Konami for not allowing Hideo Kojima to receive the award for Phantom Pain last year... Probably not, as those are only fan-made games, but still, a shame.
Looking forward to learning more about the NX backwards compatibility. Nintendo has an amazing legacy and great tradition in supporting previous generation games natively... Fingers crossed!
@Parkour_LMan Shame, but OK I guess. I know it's just one guy developing and another one helping with the ports (right?), so I imagine it's a lot of work... Thanks the info!
I almost bought it on the Vita (PS4 cross-buy), but my backlog prevented me from doing it. I might go for the Wii U instead, it seems to make great use of the Gamepad screen, and I want to support the console (despite all its woes, I actually love having excuses to turn it on on a regular basis). Just wish they made a 3DS / N3DS version, it would be the perfect platform... "Fingers crossed", I guess...?
I cannot understand the lack of new/recent "turn-off-your-brain-beat-em-ups", like Final Fight or Streets of Rage, these days... These games are perfect for "pick up and play", IMHO, offering a lot more "actual gameplay" than today's casual games... Shame, really.
If you have any "modern game" recommendation, please, let me know! I already own SoR, and replay it on a regular basis, wish there were other options (even better if they offer local co-op, I love playing with my 5yo son!).
Lego City on the U, New Leaf on 3DS. My kids have played New Leaf on their 3DS for ages, pretty sure they're gonna flip out when they find out I'm playing it too... Should be fun!
I think it's safe to say at least 2/3 of all Wii U owners will buy a copy. I mean, if you bought a Wii U (and haven't traded it in yet), it's because you're into Nintendo games, and it's hard to find a "Nintendo gamer" who doesn't dig TLoZ...
I know modding/hacking opens a world of possibilities, but I'm not sure I support hacking "current" consoles, those that are still being sold by Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft.
I fully support emulation/modding/hacking consoles from past generations, though. The way I see it, if there is no more formal support, then people should be free to do whatever they please with their machines.
How about "Buy the Wii U version, get 75% off the 3DS version?" THAT would be an offer... Like they did with Bayonetta, where 1 and 2 went for $60, which would actually be a fair price for Bayonetta 2 alone...
Nintendo has to be more aggressive, they really need to learn from Steam, or even PSN/XBL, when it comes do the digital...
Nice one. Will probably go for MegaMan on the 3DS and D&D on the Wii U. The more fun couch co-op to play with the wife and kids on the big screen the merrier, and D&D is really good.
The "Nintendo NX" logo at the end of the teaser... I wonder if the devs asked Nintendo if they could use some kind of "temporary logo" or just went and made one without consulting the BigN...
The interface is a veeery odd amalgamation of Nintendo (mostly Mario) and SEGA (mostly modern Sonic) game interfaces. Nice and smooth, but just... weird.
Shame, really. I've got it, bought it because my wife is a big Star Fox fan, and haven't had the time to play co-op with her. Do you think the co-op experience is better, offsetting the gyro controls to a second player?
Aaaargh, why not just release the demo online, so EVERYONE who owns a console can have a go as well? I just can't understand why these E3 demos can't be released online... Come on, Nintendo...
PS. To be fair, though, it's not just Nintendo. Pretty much every major developer/publisher usually fails to release their E3 floor demos online, be it a Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft console game...
It's fun, but it's not the "amiibo killer app". Nintendo should work on something like Skylanders... Can you imagine a platformer built on the 3D World engine, a giant Nintendo crossover adventure, featuring all amiibos as playable characters... Oh, man...
It could even be a new series of its own! "Super Smash Bros.: Adventure"! Come on Nintendo, make it happen!
It would be MAGICAL if the carts were compatible with a "home NX", where games would show up in high definition/1080p on your TV AND some kind of "portable NX/next generation GameBoy", were games would have the same content, but lower resolution (that would fit a portable screen)...
"Killing" the Wii U after only 4 years is the big issue here. It's a shame the console is underpowered when compared to the competition, but that didn't stop them from making/releasing games like 3D World, MK8, Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2... These games are AMAZING, regardless of their resolution, tech specs, bla bla bla. I'm really disappointed, and I really think the Wii U will be left behind way too early. Unless the NX is backwards compatible, I won't be getting one any time soon.
You know how Hyrule Legends performs like a turd on the original 3DS? Yeah, I do. Wanna play the new Zelda? Better get ready to spend on a new console, or you'll probably have to deal with a considerably worse experience. So frustrating...
The whole thing is so frustrating... Most (if not all) the exclusives on the Wii U are already awesome: great graphics (especially if you don't mind the whole resolution thing) AND they play REALLY well, boasting performance you hardly see on PS4 and XBox One titles.
I don't want to buy an NX so soon. I am absolutely fine (and actually just want to keep) playing Nintendo exclusives on my Nintendo console, which is totally fine as it is. If Nintendo releases the NX so soon, hoping to regain third party support, it will definitely blow. Shame, really...
@Sticker If the game focuses on story told using videos (instead of intense 3D graphics), there won't be much difference between platforms. Look up "Her Story", mentioned in the article, watch a few videos. You'll see what they are aiming at, and how pretty much any console is able to run a game like that.
@orravan85 I know, but demanding a phone call to solve something that should be done with a few clicks over the internet in the connected world we live in, is kind of a pain (and really unnecessary, after all, no other platform asks the user to do that).
One more step toward the digital world. Now we need (among other things):
1 - ALL WiiU/NX/3DS games being offered digitally (and available to browse anywhere, on ANY device. 2 - Better sales. Nintendo eShop sales are always lukewarm. The BigN needs to be more aggressive now and then, just look at PSN and Steam! 3 - Nintendo HAS to leave the "games linked to hardware" thing behind. It's archaic, cumbersome, simply put, a pain in the a*. 4 - Better implementation of cross-buy. Having to buy the same Virtual Console game for both Wii U AND 3DS/N3DS is disrespectful.
Metroid games are ALWAYS the ones I look forward the most EVERY console generation. I absolutely love the atmosphere and gameplay. Not seeing one released for the Wii U is really, really frustrating... :/
Can't look more "basic" than Thomas Was Alone, still it's quite an intelligent/funny/fun/emotional game. As for the trailer for this one, I'll wait and see more of the gameplay before I get excited.

Anybody know if you can play Shake It with the Gamepad alone? Or maybe with the Pro Controller (would be perfect...)?

@WilliamCalley Making it easy is not the point of such hacks... Making it happen/possible, that's what it's all about!

Now THAT is a good test to see how deep Konami's sleep actually is: how long will it be until the devs get a cease and desist letter?

Cool, but unless it is 100% compatible with "Download Play", for at least 2 players per copy of the game, I'm skipping.
