Re: Poll: Have You Had Issues With The Ethernet Port On Switch 2's Dock?

helbertpina

Surprised by the post, thought the issue wasn't as widespread.

I got the Switch 2 on release day, and Ethernet stopped working for me about 3 weeks in. Plugged a USB>Ethernet adapter and kept playing (didn't want to ship my dock for repair so early). Decided to try the built-in Ethernet port again about 2 weeks ago and it's been working fine now... maybe a Dock update fixed it...?

Re: Oops, It Looks Like Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium's Line-Up Has Leaked

@Orokosaki I know there's something about them being licensed for "arcades" and not "home consoles". I'm sure the legalese is a lot more complex than this, but it's something along those lines. That's why Capcom's own "mini console", which is actually an arcade stick with an emulator built-in and HDMI out, included at least "Aliens vs Predator" - it kinda, sorta, more or less was an arcade machine... built for the home consumers. Weird, but yeah, that's licensing for you, I guess...

Re: Out Run-Inspired Retro Racer 'Slipstream' Drifts Onto Switch In April

Out Run and Horizon Chase are not the same kind of racer - one is “point A to point B”, the other is “laps around a race track”. Please stop comparing racing games to both at the same time, it’s really frustrating… I still haven’t found a true modern “point A to point B” racer that is worthy of being compared to Out Run…

Re: That Bayonetta Countdown, Unsurprisingly, Was for a PC Port

If Nintendo doesn't port Bayo 2 to the Switch AND doesn't venture into PC gaming publishing (which would be mind-boggling), it would be an incredible waste.

I'm afraid at this point, nobody would be willing to buy a Wii U in order to play it, might as well make some money off of it in other platforms... We know the demand is impressive.

Re: Developer Survey Reveals Worrying Lack Of Interest In Nintendo Switch

@PlywoodStick You're right, it's easy to think of the Big N as an underdog today, but the numbers for both hardware and software are, indeed, respectable. Thing is the Wii U made their "market share" shrink so much (in the home console market, that is), it gives us the impression that Nintendo shrunk as a whole, although it's definitely not the case...

Re: Developer Survey Reveals Worrying Lack Of Interest In Nintendo Switch

I bought a Switch but, just like when I bought a Wii U, I am very happy with it being a "Nintendo franchises machine", besides the occasional indie gem here and there. I was very happy with my Wii U (which was mostly a "second console" when I had a PS3 back in early 2013 and continued to be so when I got a PS4 at some point in 2014, can't remember when).

If you buy a Switch to play AAA third-party games, I'm afraid you're doing it wrong: go with a PS4/XB1/Pro/Scorpio/PC and buy a used Switch in a couple of years (so you can play Nintendo's wonderful 1st party games).

Kinda sucks for Nintendo, but they have to accept they can't "fight the big guys" unless they put out a machine that's as boring, non-gimmicky or innovative, but as über-powerful and compatible (in terms of architecture) as the competition.

Re: The Nintendo Switch Can Be Hacked Via Known Webkit Vulnerability

@Anti-Matter Genetically modified food is, technically, hacking "God's creations", and it's pretty common. In a sense, mankind has been playing God ever since we started breeding different kinds of wolves (and then dogs), in order to create new variations... Hacking is, in it's essence, harmless. It's about learning how things work and changing a few bits here and there and seeing how the outcome changes. That's not to say some people do it for very different (and quite dishonest) reasons, unfortunately...
