Nintendo is clearly giving up on a large number of console sales just to make sure Star Fox is a "finished product" on release. That says a lot about the company, in my humble opinion.
That is so nice... I personally don't own an Xbox (because most Xbox games come out on the PC anyway), but I have great respect to Phil Spencer. I wish the whole industry was made up of sincere, respectful people like him.
Can't release it on the U? Cool, just don't blame it on the Wii U hardware. Not when Nintendo manages to release games that look great and play at 60 frames per second, such as 3D World, Tropical Freeze, MK8 or Smash U, a feat that few first/third party games achieve on other consoles of past or current gen...
Brilliant! These new modes, like what they did to Streets of Rage 3D with the "1 hit kill" option, allow me to play these classics with my 4 year old, and we have a BLAST playing co-op! I'm definitely picking up a copy for him and one for myself the day it comes out.
It's a shame, really, because if you want third party support there are only two options: be similar to the competition (i.e. PlayStation and Xbox) or sell loads of consoles, like what happened to the Wii. Nintendo needs to "get real" and accept the fact that the Wii was an anomaly, it was incredibly successful, but it was definitely an exception to the rule. There is very little chance there will ever be a console that was so under-powered (when compared to the competitors of the same generation) and yet such a commercial hit, IMHO. They tried to replicate it with the Wii U, and we know what happened...
I am a really happy owner of a Wii U, but only because of the exclusive titles. Most people buy a single console, and expect to play everything on it, which includes yearly installments of Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, etc. If Nintendo tries to be the innovator again with the NX, moving away from the "standard" consoles, it will have a hard time convincing third-parties to develop ports for it, and then it's the Wii U all over again...
With all due respect, I buy my Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games. I'll "take more risks" on Steam, where games are dirt cheap and there are crazy sales all the time. It has been like this (for me) since the GameCube and I am very happy with this "stategy". I do buy and play third-parties on my Wii U, but only if they offer something special, like Affordable Space Adventures.
He can't spin that... I actually liked the Nintendo E3 presentation, but they should have showed whatever they have on Zelda U. I wouldn't even care if there was no release date announced, just show us gameplay!
Do you think ZombiU will be remembered in 15 years? Do you think it really matters if it is not an exclusive anymore? This game will age fast, and it will age bad. I mean, is there any (main series) Legend of Zelda/Mario/Metroid/Pokemon/SmashBros game ever released that is considered to be sh*t today? Be it NES, Gameboy, SNES, GBA, N64, GameCube, DS, Wii, 3DS... they all aged incredibly well, and will definitely be remembered (and replayed!).
Except for the Virtual Boy, of course. Let's just pretend that never happened...
PS. I actually own ZombiU on my WiiU and quite enjoyed it. I just think it was nowhere near "first-party quality standards".
Living in the future is awesome. If I went back in time and told my 14 year old self how easy/inexpensive it would be to get great games for my consoles from the comfort of my own house, he would NEVER BELIEVE IT. And he would ask what happened to my/his (our?) hair.
Had a BLAST playing the first one over and over with my 4yo son on the 3DS (the "1-punch-kill" mode is genius, makes it very accessible for little kids), looking forward to playing 2!
Clearly unintentional, and it will end up helping several people in Nintendo who never favored Cross-Buy (and I suspect many of them are up in the hierarchy). I hope they fix it soon.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only Nintendo console that never had a Metroid game released for it was the Nintendo 64 (Wii had 2, and so did the GameCube before it). I hope the Wii U gets at least one!
Having a "Challenger" come up when you're playing with your friends is priceless! Besides fighting for the win, you fight for the chance to unlock the new character! We had a blast here, and saw it happen when playing with family and friends visiting, it was a lot of fun!
Stability... I don't think I've ever seen my 3DS crash or anything. My Wii U crashed once while playing Wonderful 101 (download version), but I own 2 3DS systems (one for me, one for my kids) and they never ever crashed.

@VanillaLake Amen to that. Can you imagine SNES 3D Classics? Super Metroid would be mind-blowing!

@AlexOlney Right?! It's like the Inception of names.
Re: Nintendo Download: 25th June (North America)
If the discount is generous, I might go for Sonic 3D. Already have Street of Rage (and love it).
