Don't see this as a huge issue. If your friends are already on one online ecosystem, it makes more sense for you to join the same one so that you can add each other as friends, message, and play games together. Cross platform online for Rocketleague is not that nuanced for allowing you to play with people you actually know. All it does is help make sure there is a sizable amount of random people to play against online. Which given how many more PS4 units there are compared to the competing consoles, I'm sure Sony sees no reason to concede to this. Meanwhile Nintendo definitely appreciates the help with online user base as they are getting the game much later, and the Switch player base is astronomically smaller.
@gcunit I'm think you're right, especially since a lot of these models and assets look like HD versions of what is already in Return to Dreamland. The similar appearance between the two games isn't entirely unwelcome though. I quite like everything I see.
So yeah, the first part still looks completely lame, with some QoL stuff that could/should have been in the game to begin with and a few odd extras that I couldn't care less about. All I want to know about is the second part.
I guess this is a way to reassure Metroid Prime fans for the time being. Name dropping this and having no footage though isn't impressive in the slightest.
@timson72 I don't see how that's a bad thing. Show some games that have already been announced, and announce some games that are further in the future to get people interested. That's been a pretty winning formula for E3 presentations, and the best Nintendo presentations used to do the same thing. Smash for Wii U was at E3 over a year before it came out, but I loved seeing it and liked forward to the small updates after it was announced.
@timson72 Gravity Rush 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last Guardian and Resident Evil 7 were all shown off at during Sony's part of E3 last year, and have since released.
@Alshain01 It isn't even close to my favorite Zelda or open world game. There were a lot of things that just rubbed me the wrong way that I felt other open world games have done much better or preferred how other Zelda games played. But I still enjoyed the game quite a bit. I wouldn't have put nearly 70 hours into a game and finished the story if I wasn't having a good time doing so. I'm glad that I played through it, and I feel that my money on the game was well spent.
It's good to see praise from peers in the industry, even if Nintendo likely doesn't consider them to be so. That said, I felt Breath of the Wild was a good game, but not exceptional, and I don't see how it "raised the bar" in anything, be it the genre or the Zelda series.
Gold and Silver are great games in their own right, and there is a lot of evidence that they are closer to the original vision of what Pokemon was supposed to be. Some of the best things about them is that the games are longer compared to the rest of the series thanks to having two regions (even if Kanto is kinda trimmed down) and many end game boss fights that can be re-battled easily. Another feature I always liked was that both cover legendary Pokemon are available in either version.
The remakes are even better though, with more modern improvements, even more content, etc. but are increasingly hard to come by and often expensive.
Yeah, they're gonna milk it for all it's worth like they always do. Black 2 and White 2 were much better than the originals, so there's plenty of reason to expect these games to trump Sun and Moon in every way but originality.
That said, I did not enjoy Moon version, so unless there are serious changes I won't bother.

But seriously, it was obvious this was coming. I'm just surprised the announcement came this early what with Arms on the horizon. Honestly, it looks great. It's what Pokken should have been if it were properly supported and didn't force you to use the game pad. The only bad thing about this is it really drives home that Nintendo's strategy for success with the Switch is to give Wii U owners the shaft.
The best thing to realistically hope for is Diamond/Pearl remakes. I'd hope that they use what Platinum added (fixed, really) as the basis for the remake, but Game Freak often does strange (stupid) things in development.
A pipe dream would be an HD collection of Pokemon Colosseum and XD for the Switch. I think a Pokken port is bound to happen eventually, but it'd be weird to announce that with their new fighting game IP launching soon.
@StephenYap3 It sounds like the main thing you don't like then is simply the difficulty. I haven't had any issues whatsoever, and the only time I was anywhere close to death in the prototype was the 2 bosses. But people are good at different things. As much as my friends talk up Binding of Isaac, I have never been able to get past the basement levels consistently.
@StephenYap3 It sounds like you did t understand the battle system to begin with, despite playing the prototype which explains the basics of things. Your characters that are targeted by enemy attacks flash before the attack, so you can in fact react and guard with the correct characters.
The mana gauge is a simple risk versus reward system. You build mana by attacking normally. You can spend it to guard your characters to protect them more from damage, or to do special moves, which help you in other ways (some even outright heal you). At the end of the fight, your leftover mana is converted into health.
I get that maybe you didn't enjoy it, and perhaps it could be better explained, but I'd recommend trying it again before spouting "bad game design". These developers are quite talented.
I mean, $20 isn't very much money, but the online service itself isn't exactly looking great either. Asking your audience to make a lot of compromises just to put together online play sessions is kinda crappy.
Disappointing to hear honestly, and I very much hope that's not the case. I've been replaying Phantom Hourglass recently, and am loving it. Ditch the control gimmicks, but keep Zelda about engrossing dungeons and stories. Breath of the Wild was a fun game, but it was very clearly a first attempt at a seriously large scale open world adventure game, and it didn't keep my interest nearly as long as other open world games. I'm sure Nintendo could refine the formula, but the industry already has several good open world franchises. We don't have many games like Zelda though.
@Keldorek I actually loved the English dub, thought the voice actors were spot on. I really loved Seraphina especially. She's voiced by Kira Buckland, and I usually am impressed with her work, although a lot of the cast are big name voice actors too.
But to each their own. Nothing wrong with preferring the Japanese dub.
@Linoshi I know someone else already replied to you about Disgaea 5 but I figured I'd throw in my 2 cents too. I would say as a whole Disgaea 5 offers a slew of various systems that serve as potential avenues for you to explore, but you aren't necessarily expected to master or even mess with them at all to succeed. I personally ignored most of the systems in favor of just playing through the story originally.
So yes, Disgaea 5 is complicated and very deep, but you don't have to play it that way. The easiest comparison I could make is Pokemon. The main story doesn't expect you to use max IV fully EV trained Pokemon with ideal natures just to beat the game. The difference is that Disgaea is more upfront that those systems exist to being with.
That said, it doesn't hold your hand either. It is very much a strategy game. But if all else fails, it is very easy to grind in Disgaea if you can't see another way to succeed.
@ThomasBW84 The portion of the review that I quoted above seems like it tries illustrate a scenario in which you have to make a conscious effort to sort through various menus when that's simply not the case. "Move" and "Attack" are two items that are plainly part of the same menu. When you get to using special attacks like magic or skills, those are also available to choose from in that very same list.
You bring up sub-weapons and picking between them, but when you select the attack command and are choosing your target, swapping between weapons is a simple button press that is again, done in the same place as where you are currently looking.
Yes, the "Execute" and "End Turn commands" are in menu brought up with a different button, but the tutorial clearly explains how to do this. Having these final actions separate from the individual actions you can do makes sense to me from an organization perspective. In terms of efficiency, this results in faster menu navigation, as having everything in a single long list and having to scroll through it even when you know where things are is time consuming.
@itslukec You should be able to adjust the volume of several aspects of the game. So, you could turn the voice volume all the way down.
For whatever reason, the review reads like you're trying to make the game seem more complicated than it really is. Especially here;
"To give you an idea of the complexity (and therefore flexibility) the game offers, simply attacking a foe requires you to get into position, select a type of attack (from multiple menus), perhaps change your primary weapon and then go to an entirely separate menu (with various options) to then 'execute' the move. In actuality, to perform a basic attack, you simply move your unit in range with the "move" command", and then select "attack". That is exactly the same format as every other SRPG on the market, including Fire Emblem, which SRPG and Nintendo fans should be plenty familiar with. Once you want to actually perform however many actions you have queued up, then you can select execute. It's extremely simple.
@tjhiphop I got my Wii U at launch, before the price cut, and right before a certain launch title game was suddenly delayed by almost a year. On top of that my gamepad is all but unusable simply because the wireless range is so bad, and that happened after only having the console for 3 years.
Of course, my experience isn't completely typical though.
The real meat of this article is just after the first picture, and I agree completely. It's not unreasonable for even big fans to voice critical opinions, but if you spend your time voicing your displeasure of something, but decided to buy it anyways, I have to wonder what type of insane you must be.
I think the Switch was a good idea for a new system from Nintendo, and I'm glad they are doing well so far, and hope that they continue to do so. But as a Wii U owner that felt quite shafted by Nintendo on more than once occasion, I'm not in a hurry to get a Switch for myself until I see new games that I'm' interested in, and how well the hardware holds up over the years.
Yuck, that list is full of so many third party characters or boring ideas. How about actual Nintendo characters from actual big franchises? It's crazy that with Smash 4 we had no new Zelda or Kirby characters added. I'd love to see Waddle Dee as a playable character and round out the 4 player set from a few of the Kirby games. From Zelda, I feel like Tetra, Ghirahim, or even one of the champions from Breath of the Wild would be more interesting than Young Link, or Skull Kid.
I didn't really appreciate the series until Mario Kart Wii. I had played other Mario Kart games before, and I still am sometimes talked into trying the older Mario Karts but they always feel underdeveloped. The offerings of MK Wii though really pulled me in, and despite how unbalanced the characters and vehicles were, the actual driving felt very good compared to earlier Mario Karts, and the items and track designs, while a little chaotic, were very fair.
I like Mario Kart 8 a lot too. I think it has by far the best driving and vehicle balance, but I think they went to far with the items, coins, and air gliding sections. None of these ideas fit well with each other, and combine into a very punishing system that I feel makes the game incredibly less fair and more random. It's still a very good time though, and with friends, it's a blast. I'd say online functionality was a letdown, but I know you can't expect much from a Nintendo game in that regard.
@Shadowsaint The appeal of playing the game is that it is fun, or at least it should be. If you're not finding it enjoyable, there's no sweat either though... But if you're worried about stats and optimization, you really shouldn't be. For all the parts and combinations the game offers, most of the karts, bikes, etc, have the same stats as something else, and pretty much everything can work.
For most people, the stats just give you a little flexibility personal freedom. I would argue against anyone that says there is a definite best combination, because due to all the different track designs, and the inherent chaotic nature of the game, such a thing just doesn't exist. At the end of the day, there's a good bit of skill, but a lot of luck involved in winning in Mario Kart.
How many games has it been now where there is a glitch related to the move "Sky Drop" and it involving a Pokemon being unable to move? On a side note, while I'm glad they're attempting to fix bugs still, I haven't touched Moon version since I beat the main story last year. Hugely disappointing game that really shows that changing things up just for the sake of it, rather than implementing better ideas, doesn't make a game any better. Removing features that fans loved too certainly doesn't help either.
Not sure if this has been removed in the Deluxe re-release, but it was discovered that there are hidden stats and modifiers in Mario Kart 8. One such example was the speed was actually divided up into ground, air, and water speed. Major examples I remember were that the Steel Driver got a significant speed boost in water, and the slim tires that normally increase your speed a good bit actually lower your speed in water.
The only thing you really need to know though is that the standard ATV is awful, and so are the monster tires. The sport bikes with inside drift also gimp you with a crappy camera perspective while you're drifting. Other than that, winning comes down to a lot of luck unless there's a big skill gap.
@rjejr That's not exactly the correct way to interpret the stretch goals... The goal for a Switch version is only $450K more than the previous goal. That's around the amount they believe it will take to port to the Switch. The fact that the goal is at near the $5 million mark simply means that they are less interested in porting to the Switch compared to adding more content to the game (and porting to Xbox One).
@Boyoshi YCG grossly underestimated how much money it would take to make Shovel Knight and its stretch goal content. They admitted back in 2014 after the game came out that they actually went broke making the game, and again in 2015 when the Plague of Shadows expansion released that it cost them around $1 million just for the expansion. Thankfully Shovel Knight has enjoyed strong sales from not only its game, but also the amiibo and other merchandise.

They were hindered by the fact that most of these were not well designed with tournament play in mind. Both Splatoon and Pokken on the Wii U force players to use the gamepad when it's not necessary. Combined with the fact that only one gamepad can be used per Wii U, the cost of hosting a Splatoon and Pokken tournament is incredible. Splatoon didn't even offer LAN multiplayer for tournament use anyways!
Thankfully Nintendo seems to be moving forward with the Switch, as with the creation of Splatoon 2 they are obviously admitting that the gamepad was not necessary. I'd like to see Smash and Pokken get ported to the Switch, especially since the latter has content that the Wii U version never received.
@PlywoodStick I don't think Breath of the Wild affected Horizon sales much, if it all. The amount of people that own a PS4 and a Wii U, or realistically a Switch, is small.
@MsJubilee Not all robots will overlook you for hiding in tall grass. Many robots, including ones you are introduced to quite early in the game, have tracking components where your stealth doesn't work on them.
As for spears, the spear as a weapon was designed to allow for precision strikes to exposed areas or gaps in armor. Aloy is able to use her spear this way, or even in the heat of combat as a last resort effort (which is considerably less effective for obvious reasons).
As for dumb AI, you can exploit that in any game. There were many times in Breath of the Wild where I conserved my weapons by just throwing or dropping bombs for enemies to run right into.
Played both for an extensive amount of time. I wouldn't call either a masterpiece, but they were certainly very good. Despite the numerous comparisons between the two, I can't really say I preferred one over the other either. There are things each does better and worse than the other, and I'm 100% glad I played both.
After reading other comments though, I'm surprised that people who played both found Horizon to be more limited in its world exploration. For me, I would certainly call having to wear certain clothes in many parts of the world, as well as having a limitation on running, climbing, and swimming far more limiting than anything in Horizon. Breath of the Wild let's you climb any surface, with the caveat that you have to have enough stamina, and it's not raining...
@PlywoodStick Glad to see someone else pointing this out. Other developers have pointed out years ago how Unity struggles to work on Wii U. Any developing team worth their salt would have been able to figure it out, yet they used Unity anyways, despite their claims of keeping the Wii U version in-house to give it the treatment it deserves. Combined with the fact that they never showed off progress with the Wii U version, yeah, I'd say it's doubtful a Wii U version in any working capacity ever existed.
That's not much of an improvement... I seriously wonder why the Splatoon developers insist on these design choices rather than doing what has proven to work for other online shooters for years.
Quite honestly, this content being paid DLC is just crap. Hopefully the new story that comes out at the end of the year will be nice, but if it is, it should be able to stand on its own, and not need to be accompanied with stuff that should've been in the base game.
Not a huge fan of the level design shown in that video, but it looks decent. I think this and Mania are about the best Sonic Fans can reasonably hope for out of the franchise.
@NEStalgia I agree that Sonic could learn a lot by looking at Rayman. It doesn't seem like it'd even be that hard to do, which is why I also think that @Crono1973 might be onto something too. From my perspective outside the fanbase, it seems like a lot of the love of Sonic is more for what he represents as a mascot, rather than how his games actually played.
@garthvader Disgaea 5 is the best strategy RPG in the past few years. My only point of caution would be that people that like more serious or mature stories, like the older Fire Emblems or Final Fantasy Tactics, might not appreciate Disgaea's more light hearted and humorous approach. The main story is good, but also heavy on comedy, making fun of typical Japanese tropes and breaking the 4th wall. I love it, but that goofiness isn't for everyone.
Game just looks great, and I'm sure it plays great too. I think it's important to remember that this is more than just a full price re-release. It has new content, new features, and the portable option thanks to the Switch. Re-releasing this was a good move on Nintendo's part, and hopefully they've already started thinking about MK9.

Disappointing to hear honestly, and I very much hope that's not the case. I've been replaying Phantom Hourglass recently, and am loving it. Ditch the control gimmicks, but keep Zelda about engrossing dungeons and stories. Breath of the Wild was a fun game, but it was very clearly a first attempt at a seriously large scale open world adventure game, and it didn't keep my interest nearly as long as other open world games. I'm sure Nintendo could refine the formula, but the industry already has several good open world franchises. We don't have many games like Zelda though.

@Keldorek I actually loved the English dub, thought the voice actors were spot on. I really loved Seraphina especially. She's voiced by Kira Buckland, and I usually am impressed with her work, although a lot of the cast are big name voice actors too.
But to each their own. Nothing wrong with preferring the Japanese dub.

@Linoshi I know someone else already replied to you about Disgaea 5 but I figured I'd throw in my 2 cents too. I would say as a whole Disgaea 5 offers a slew of various systems that serve as potential avenues for you to explore, but you aren't necessarily expected to master or even mess with them at all to succeed. I personally ignored most of the systems in favor of just playing through the story originally.
So yes, Disgaea 5 is complicated and very deep, but you don't have to play it that way. The easiest comparison I could make is Pokemon. The main story doesn't expect you to use max IV fully EV trained Pokemon with ideal natures just to beat the game. The difference is that Disgaea is more upfront that those systems exist to being with.
That said, it doesn't hold your hand either. It is very much a strategy game. But if all else fails, it is very easy to grind in Disgaea if you can't see another way to succeed.

@ThomasBW84 The portion of the review that I quoted above seems like it tries illustrate a scenario in which you have to make a conscious effort to sort through various menus when that's simply not the case. "Move" and "Attack" are two items that are plainly part of the same menu. When you get to using special attacks like magic or skills, those are also available to choose from in that very same list.
You bring up sub-weapons and picking between them, but when you select the attack command and are choosing your target, swapping between weapons is a simple button press that is again, done in the same place as where you are currently looking.
Yes, the "Execute" and "End Turn commands" are in menu brought up with a different button, but the tutorial clearly explains how to do this. Having these final actions separate from the individual actions you can do makes sense to me from an organization perspective. In terms of efficiency, this results in faster menu navigation, as having everything in a single long list and having to scroll through it even when you know where things are is time consuming.
@itslukec You should be able to adjust the volume of several aspects of the game. So, you could turn the voice volume all the way down.

For whatever reason, the review reads like you're trying to make the game seem more complicated than it really is. Especially here;
"To give you an idea of the complexity (and therefore flexibility) the game offers, simply attacking a foe requires you to get into position, select a type of attack (from multiple menus), perhaps change your primary weapon and then go to an entirely separate menu (with various options) to then 'execute' the move. That's only for a simple attack, which becomes increasingly rare as a strategic move as the game spreads its wings."
In actuality, to perform a basic attack, you simply move your unit in range with the "move" command", and then select "attack". That is exactly the same format as every other SRPG on the market, including Fire Emblem, which SRPG and Nintendo fans should be plenty familiar with. Once you want to actually perform however many actions you have queued up, then you can select execute. It's extremely simple.

@tjhiphop I got my Wii U at launch, before the price cut, and right before a certain launch title game was suddenly delayed by almost a year. On top of that my gamepad is all but unusable simply because the wireless range is so bad, and that happened after only having the console for 3 years.
Of course, my experience isn't completely typical though.

The real meat of this article is just after the first picture, and I agree completely. It's not unreasonable for even big fans to voice critical opinions, but if you spend your time voicing your displeasure of something, but decided to buy it anyways, I have to wonder what type of insane you must be.
I think the Switch was a good idea for a new system from Nintendo, and I'm glad they are doing well so far, and hope that they continue to do so. But as a Wii U owner that felt quite shafted by Nintendo on more than once occasion, I'm not in a hurry to get a Switch for myself until I see new games that I'm' interested in, and how well the hardware holds up over the years.

Yuck, that list is full of so many third party characters or boring ideas. How about actual Nintendo characters from actual big franchises? It's crazy that with Smash 4 we had no new Zelda or Kirby characters added. I'd love to see Waddle Dee as a playable character and round out the 4 player set from a few of the Kirby games. From Zelda, I feel like Tetra, Ghirahim, or even one of the champions from Breath of the Wild would be more interesting than Young Link, or Skull Kid.

I didn't really appreciate the series until Mario Kart Wii. I had played other Mario Kart games before, and I still am sometimes talked into trying the older Mario Karts but they always feel underdeveloped. The offerings of MK Wii though really pulled me in, and despite how unbalanced the characters and vehicles were, the actual driving felt very good compared to earlier Mario Karts, and the items and track designs, while a little chaotic, were very fair.
I like Mario Kart 8 a lot too. I think it has by far the best driving and vehicle balance, but I think they went to far with the items, coins, and air gliding sections. None of these ideas fit well with each other, and combine into a very punishing system that I feel makes the game incredibly less fair and more random. It's still a very good time though, and with friends, it's a blast. I'd say online functionality was a letdown, but I know you can't expect much from a Nintendo game in that regard.

@Shadowsaint The appeal of playing the game is that it is fun, or at least it should be. If you're not finding it enjoyable, there's no sweat either though... But if you're worried about stats and optimization, you really shouldn't be. For all the parts and combinations the game offers, most of the karts, bikes, etc, have the same stats as something else, and pretty much everything can work.
For most people, the stats just give you a little flexibility personal freedom. I would argue against anyone that says there is a definite best combination, because due to all the different track designs, and the inherent chaotic nature of the game, such a thing just doesn't exist. At the end of the day, there's a good bit of skill, but a lot of luck involved in winning in Mario Kart.

How many games has it been now where there is a glitch related to the move "Sky Drop" and it involving a Pokemon being unable to move? On a side note, while I'm glad they're attempting to fix bugs still, I haven't touched Moon version since I beat the main story last year. Hugely disappointing game that really shows that changing things up just for the sake of it, rather than implementing better ideas, doesn't make a game any better. Removing features that fans loved too certainly doesn't help either.

Not sure if this has been removed in the Deluxe re-release, but it was discovered that there are hidden stats and modifiers in Mario Kart 8. One such example was the speed was actually divided up into ground, air, and water speed. Major examples I remember were that the Steel Driver got a significant speed boost in water, and the slim tires that normally increase your speed a good bit actually lower your speed in water.
The only thing you really need to know though is that the standard ATV is awful, and so are the monster tires. The sport bikes with inside drift also gimp you with a crappy camera perspective while you're drifting. Other than that, winning comes down to a lot of luck unless there's a big skill gap.

@rjejr That's not exactly the correct way to interpret the stretch goals... The goal for a Switch version is only $450K more than the previous goal. That's around the amount they believe it will take to port to the Switch. The fact that the goal is at near the $5 million mark simply means that they are less interested in porting to the Switch compared to adding more content to the game (and porting to Xbox One).

@Boyoshi YCG grossly underestimated how much money it would take to make Shovel Knight and its stretch goal content. They admitted back in 2014 after the game came out that they actually went broke making the game, and again in 2015 when the Plague of Shadows expansion released that it cost them around $1 million just for the expansion. Thankfully Shovel Knight has enjoyed strong sales from not only its game, but also the amiibo and other merchandise.

They were hindered by the fact that most of these were not well designed with tournament play in mind. Both Splatoon and Pokken on the Wii U force players to use the gamepad when it's not necessary. Combined with the fact that only one gamepad can be used per Wii U, the cost of hosting a Splatoon and Pokken tournament is incredible. Splatoon didn't even offer LAN multiplayer for tournament use anyways!
Thankfully Nintendo seems to be moving forward with the Switch, as with the creation of Splatoon 2 they are obviously admitting that the gamepad was not necessary. I'd like to see Smash and Pokken get ported to the Switch, especially since the latter has content that the Wii U version never received.

@PlywoodStick I don't think Breath of the Wild affected Horizon sales much, if it all. The amount of people that own a PS4 and a Wii U, or realistically a Switch, is small.

@MsJubilee Not all robots will overlook you for hiding in tall grass. Many robots, including ones you are introduced to quite early in the game, have tracking components where your stealth doesn't work on them.
As for spears, the spear as a weapon was designed to allow for precision strikes to exposed areas or gaps in armor. Aloy is able to use her spear this way, or even in the heat of combat as a last resort effort (which is considerably less effective for obvious reasons).
As for dumb AI, you can exploit that in any game. There were many times in Breath of the Wild where I conserved my weapons by just throwing or dropping bombs for enemies to run right into.

Played both for an extensive amount of time. I wouldn't call either a masterpiece, but they were certainly very good. Despite the numerous comparisons between the two, I can't really say I preferred one over the other either. There are things each does better and worse than the other, and I'm 100% glad I played both.
After reading other comments though, I'm surprised that people who played both found Horizon to be more limited in its world exploration. For me, I would certainly call having to wear certain clothes in many parts of the world, as well as having a limitation on running, climbing, and swimming far more limiting than anything in Horizon. Breath of the Wild let's you climb any surface, with the caveat that you have to have enough stamina, and it's not raining...

@PlywoodStick Glad to see someone else pointing this out. Other developers have pointed out years ago how Unity struggles to work on Wii U. Any developing team worth their salt would have been able to figure it out, yet they used Unity anyways, despite their claims of keeping the Wii U version in-house to give it the treatment it deserves. Combined with the fact that they never showed off progress with the Wii U version, yeah, I'd say it's doubtful a Wii U version in any working capacity ever existed.

Quite honestly, this content being paid DLC is just crap. Hopefully the new story that comes out at the end of the year will be nice, but if it is, it should be able to stand on its own, and not need to be accompanied with stuff that should've been in the base game.

Not a huge fan of the level design shown in that video, but it looks decent. I think this and Mania are about the best Sonic Fans can reasonably hope for out of the franchise.
@NEStalgia I agree that Sonic could learn a lot by looking at Rayman. It doesn't seem like it'd even be that hard to do, which is why I also think that @Crono1973 might be onto something too. From my perspective outside the fanbase, it seems like a lot of the love of Sonic is more for what he represents as a mascot, rather than how his games actually played.

@garthvader Disgaea 5 is the best strategy RPG in the past few years. My only point of caution would be that people that like more serious or mature stories, like the older Fire Emblems or Final Fantasy Tactics, might not appreciate Disgaea's more light hearted and humorous approach. The main story is good, but also heavy on comedy, making fun of typical Japanese tropes and breaking the 4th wall. I love it, but that goofiness isn't for everyone.

Game just looks great, and I'm sure it plays great too. I think it's important to remember that this is more than just a full price re-release. It has new content, new features, and the portable option thanks to the Switch. Re-releasing this was a good move on Nintendo's part, and hopefully they've already started thinking about MK9.

I'm not sure I can get behind this completely, but I definitely feel that Mario Kart 8 was a solid improvement overall. There's just some things that I look back to MK Wii for and wonder why they changed them.
I still surprises me how well the Inklings fit into Mario Kart. Makes me wonder if Mario Kart 9 really will be more of a Nintendo Kart of sorts, at least in spirit if not name. Right now the lack of Captain Falcon is almost comically criminal.

These comments and more are not related to discussion at all. These are needless digs at other users that hadn't even posted under this article yet. I've expressed my disapproval of such actions. In doing so, and in replying to you, I have not once you or others in the same way.
You seem to make the claim that me voicing my disapproval is somehow an attempt to shut down conversation, which is ironic because I would rather actually see conversation about the article, as opposed to users simply attacking other users. Do you really feel that such an activity has value for this website, and that it is needed?

Uh, no they don't. On Nintendolife and pretty much every website, posting comments is a privilege that you have so long as you follow general guidelines. You could maybe argue whether or not a group of people trash talking about other users is enough to count as flaming or abuse, which is against the guidelines. But I'd argue it's extremely petty and immature regardless.
