"Produced to compete with Capcom's legendary Street Fighter II"
Not true! Fatal Fury was made by ex-Capcom staffers who worked on Street Fighter 1! It wasn't made as a reaction to SFII and was actually developed in tandem and released the same year.
The game's control configuration ONLY allows you to adjust face buttons and does NOT allow for button macros. So some moves will be borderline impossible with an arcade stick!
"Limited pre-launch time for 'Indie' developer access to dev kits"
Yes there are developers whining about not getting kits, but there are also developers who haven't been whining, and thus may have kits. Like Choice Provisions.
Wasn't very kind of you guys to leave Dragon Quest VII and VIII off the list... Those are the two games I'm most excited about! Especially VIII! VII has taken YEARS to get a localization!
It's been a pretty poor year for Nintendo games. Let's be real.
But that's just retail. The eShop has been on fire this year and there's still more to come before year's end. Some of the top scoring games of the year here at NL are eShop titles.
@RainbowGazelle It has to do with power and oppression. The Native Americans had their land stolen from them, were murdered and raped, and generally treated like garbage by the invading Europeans that built America. So to have their traditional garb being worn by European-like characters is pretty tasteless.
Cowboys are just cattle rustlers with hats and sometimes guns. You could argue taht Cowboy media perpetuated negative Native American stereotypes, though.
I can't wait for this. M2 kinda screwed the pooch with the old Virtual Console version (containing the button hold bug of all early Genesis vc titles) so it'll be nice to have a properly emulated version. In 3d. On the go.
“Gaming has spread to a number of platforms, but at the end of the day, the platform that is always closest to us, is mobile. Mobile is where the future of gaming lies.”
the thing that I don't get is that Wii U owners will pay $12 a pop for an old N64 ROM, or $60 for a NSMB title, and yet balk at paying $15-$20 for a brand new polished game experience built from the ground up for Wii U.
Maybe they don't understand the value of downloadbale titles is no less than retail? I think it's a line that is beginning to blur.
All this being said, the eShop has had some huge successes and I believe it can continue to. Look at Shovel Knight, for example.
I believe S&SII is the next piece of eShop gold and I'll be picking it up day one because it, frankly, looks to be one of the best 3rd party exclusives for the system and, frankly, $20 is a steal for a title that good.
@bizcuthammer Nintendo didn't "hype it up"- you did. That's how hype works.
I saw the E3 video, took in all the information, enjoyed it, and here I am reading about the best buy locations and the games playable and having a perfectly fine day. I expected it to only be select Best Buy locations, and I knew it couldn't be as big simply due to the time frames.
It's really not something to get angry about, guys. It's video games.
I hope you guys can still enjoy watching the event when it happens.
I really don't see the big stink being kicked up. I'm not even remotely mad. It's a cool E3 event, what were you guys expecting? Something of the scope and scale of the event 25 years ago?
That's completely unrealistic and it's on you for the following "disappointment."
I'm sure the event will still be fun to watch leading up to E3.
Also, I'm guessing the dinosaurs are in the Island track?
Track list seems small, but if the game has online play, leaderboards, time trials, or challenges of some kind to stretch out replay value I'll be happy.

Re: Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch)
Once the price drops, I'll grab it.
It's more expensive than the original MK8 and I already played a lot of that so it's hard for me to justify.
Re: Video: Here's Exactly What's New And Different In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
This version costs more than the Wii U version did at launch... So, I'm probably gonna sit this one out.
Re: Nintendo Download: 13th April (North America)
I really don't like ACA re-releases of fighting games. They have no practice/training mode and no online. In short, they kinda blow.

Re: Metal Slug Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch eShop This Week
@neufel It's just another adventure. It's an all-around solid (and beautiful) game, but it's not fundamentally unique.
Re: Review: Neo Turf Masters (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)
Hands-down best golf game I've ever played.
Re: Review: The King of Fighters '98 (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)
PSA for anyone planning on picking this up:
The game's control configuration ONLY allows you to adjust face buttons and does NOT allow for button macros. So some moves will be borderline impossible with an arcade stick!
Re: Nintendo Download: 9th March (North America)
WARNING:
all the NEO GEO games have sound desync issues and washed out colors on Switch. Hamster says a patch is incoming.
Re: Nintendo Download: 19th January (North America)
Anyone else surprised NL hasn't reported on NEO GEO games coming to Switch?
Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd December (North America)
There's a pretty huge sale going on
Re: Review: Pirate Pop Plus (Wii U eShop)
@LegendOfPokemon There most definitely is cross-buy. Says right there in the review. And the trailer

HG101 has done Castlevania, they've done Gradius and Konami's shmups...
Why not Contra?
Re: A Duo Of TurboGrafx-16 Games Hit The Wii U Virtual Console In North America This Week
Wii U is cool, 3DS would be cooler. Japan got four PCE games on 3DS VC.
Re: Let Yacht Club Games Know What Game You'd Like Next
Why not try to make something totally new?
Re: Ninterview: Ahmed Bin Fahad Discusses Building the World's Biggest Nintendo Collection
I wonder if will become important for Wiis and Wii Us to have "Complete Digital collections" on them for future resale and purchase.
Like, a Wii U loaded with every eShop title on it has the potential to be more valuable than a factory sealed standard Wii U.
I wonder when the Wii Shop Channel will shut down and what kind of change in the market it will cause...

"just go pick up a Fatal Fury or Samurai Shodown game off of the Virtual Console for your fighting game fix."
Fixed.
Seriously, though. The NEO GEO fighters are way better IMO espec since the SF games are only the SNES ports!
Re: Video: Watch The Epic Pokémon Super Bowl Commercial Right Here
Cool commercial.
Dat CG tho.

Re: Nintendo Download: 31st December (North America)
@StraTTtheRipper It does. Lots of unlockables and achievements, too.
Re: Review: Kirby: Power Paintbrush (Wii U eShop / DS)
Woah woah woah... I COMPLETELY disagree with this. This is, IMO, one of the best and most fresh Kirby games- much better than the recent Wii U outing.
This is a very polarizing review score.
Re: FAST Racing NEO Release Date and Pricing Speed Into View
Wow. Really surprised at the price!

The friends of Runbow sale is also still going on.

@Shepdawg1 Move the game to internal storage. It appears to be a bug with the game streaming from an external drive.
Re: Nintendo Download: 13th August (North America)
I patiently await 3d Gunstar Heroes.
Re: Feature: Taking to the Skies for a Final Look at the Star Fox Zero E3 Build
I had an absolute blast at E3. My favourite game on the showfloor. Can't wait to get my hands on the full game.

When will we get a proper trailer? :/

I wonder if Super Hero Ogre 2 will come out here...

Re: Ronimo Games Explains Pricing for Swords & Soldiers II
I think it's great. This is a high quality title; I've seen it in person.
If Indies can charge more for their games, they can make better games.
$20 is nothing compared to the price people pay for things like The Order 1886 and New Super Mario Bros.

Re: Video: We Tackle The Dual-Stick vs. Motion Controls Splatoon Debate
I did way better with twin stick non-motion, but I wonder if I just turn down the sensitivity... motion might work if I do that.

There was an update to the kickstarter backers as well, but it is backer-only...
Re: Review: Donkey Kong 64 (Wii U eShop / Nintendo 64)
This is one of the few Nintendo games I genuinely dislike in every way. The puzzle/level design is just insufferable...
Re: Exclusive: Affordable Space Adventures Pricing Confirmed, Aims to Retain Value Of Wii U Exclusive
This is a third-party Wii U exclusive game on eShop.
If it had a box, people would $30-40 for it.
Do people expect to pay less just because it is indie? I think the price is fair.
Re: Sega Producer Explains Exactly What Went Wrong With Sonic Boom
