The original/retro arwing in the game is the best looking thing. I wish they had just done a low poly retro looking HD star fox or made everything look like those muppets from the E3 presentation.

Seems like a code system leaves open the door for rewarding physical purchases in the future as well..

Right now the Sega 3D Classics are on sale for under $5. But their list price is above $5 and as a result got the 10 gold coins for each purchase.

I highly recommend taking advantage of this.

It's good to know for future eshop purchases reward you with gold points on the list price and not the sale price. Hopefully Nintendo doesn't fix this in the future..

The "Just for Me" rewards is offering games that I already own digitally.. sigh

I've been waiting to make all my digital purchases until this hits so I can earn those gold coins!

My hands get cramped after just a few races. This is the ONLY title on my 3DS this happens to. Not sure how anyone is able to hit the shoulder buttons while quickly switching between 3 different buttons for acceleration, brakes, and boost. The awkward layout didn't help - not having remappable controls is a rather large sour note for this title in particular for me.

Sadly the 3DS will likely never see a proper F-Zero release. The 3D effect along with online multiplayer would have been incredible.

Loads of potential. Good to see it coming along nicely.

Really impressed with the amount of detail and secondary animation happening. This game looks great!

@Einherjar its the only game to have hard locked my system as well. They kept patching it though and haven't had any issues since the latest patch. Not ideal, but happy it got resolved.

With that said, I think Edmund and his team are incredibly talented and hope they continue to support Nintendo's systems.

@teoulas Amazing. How I wish every game on the virtual console had this foresight.

FZero has been damn near unplayable for me on the N3DS due to the button layout - gives my hands cramps.

@teoulas This one lets you remap the buttons? I think the review specifically says it doesn't let you remap the buttons. None of the virtual console games up to this point have.

I realize that in this industry criticizing the company you write about might jeopardize a relationship with them. ie: not being given exclusive content to reveal, access for interviews, etc.

This articles criticism is extremely fair and well founded. Hopefully this discussion helps lead to what we all want - Nintendo being a success and making their fans happy.

@Xenocity Same thing goes for Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, etc. That hasn't stopped millions of people from using those services.

This is the way of the future and I personally would embrace it.

@Xenocity Well Playstation Plus is a fantastic deal. Nintendo needs to figure out how to adopt a similar service. Making their first party virtual console games or a large portion of them free would be a great incentive to start through a monthly service.

Charge $10 a month for a subscription service that lets you play every virtual console game for free.

For F-Zero on the N3DS acceleration is B, brake is Y, and Speed Thrust is X and A. Shoulder buttons remain the drift/ease left and right.

@jeb_leeds Sadly no option to change controls.

F-Zero has been breaking my hand so far to play.

F-Zero was a day one purchase for me.

Sadly the controls are near impossible to perform on the 3DS. My hand starts to really hurt after just a couple of races contorting to hit all the buttons and shoulder buttons required to play this game.

The days of buying a single release of a Nintendo title are dwindling. Soon Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc will all require you to buy two different copies of virtually the same game to get the "complete" experience.

This guy needs to hire a PR Rep. Any legit professional company does. its for their own protection. Game devs are not often socially well adjusted people.

With that said he makes valid points. Part of it feels like Nintendo secrecy, Japanese corporate bueracracy, and just Nintendo being out of date with the current landscape. News of late has not been encouraging for the NX.

This entirely depends on how well prepared Nintendo is to launch the NX (launch games, advertising, supply, etc)

@Nin10doh Of course people still have the system. What I was trying to say is that I feel people don't use or are as active with their systems as they were a year ago.

Kimishima was talking about revitalizing the user base with new games. Instead of doing that, I was saying I would prefer and think it a better idea they spend those resources towards their new system.

I doubt they have much cooking anyways. Several typically means 3 (FE Fates, Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Bravely Second, DQ 7 & 8, new Monster Hunter). They're going to continue to push the 3DS and WiiU until they formally show the NX. That's just good business. This is just business talk. Several more titles could mean more Happy Home Designer like titles..

I live in NYC and carry my 3DS to and from work everyday on the subway which includes a transfer at the busy 14th St Union Square stop. Last year I was getting frequent street passes everyday.

Now a days I usually only get 1 spot pass if that. Many days I don't get any.

The system was a relative success when not comparing it to the DS, but please stop trying to jump start a dated system. Resources spent on making more 3DS games are only taking resources and talented studios away from making quality games on the NX. It's time to move on.

@mjharper we have seen what they've come up with. The GFX are clearly not at the same quality of other WiiU titles or even Bayonetta 2 (another platinum game). It looks like an HD remake of a GameCube game. Based on the fact they clearly rushed on the GFX then I believe it's fair to be concerned the gameplay received the same rushed treatment.

This is going to be a game easily forgotten as soon as it's released. I say hurry up and get it over with.
