The original/retro arwing in the game is the best looking thing. I wish they had just done a low poly retro looking HD star fox or made everything look like those muppets from the E3 presentation.
Right now the Sega 3D Classics are on sale for under $5. But their list price is above $5 and as a result got the 10 gold coins for each purchase.
I highly recommend taking advantage of this.
It's good to know for future eshop purchases reward you with gold points on the list price and not the sale price. Hopefully Nintendo doesn't fix this in the future..
"Remappable controls in Virtual Console titles are the preserve of Wii U owners, but luckily the standard SNES controls work wonderfully"
My hands get cramped after just a few races. This is the ONLY title on my 3DS this happens to. Not sure how anyone is able to hit the shoulder buttons while quickly switching between 3 different buttons for acceleration, brakes, and boost. The awkward layout didn't help - not having remappable controls is a rather large sour note for this title in particular for me.
Sadly the 3DS will likely never see a proper F-Zero release. The 3D effect along with online multiplayer would have been incredible.
@Einherjar its the only game to have hard locked my system as well. They kept patching it though and haven't had any issues since the latest patch. Not ideal, but happy it got resolved.
With that said, I think Edmund and his team are incredibly talented and hope they continue to support Nintendo's systems.
@teoulas This one lets you remap the buttons? I think the review specifically says it doesn't let you remap the buttons. None of the virtual console games up to this point have.
Just want to say I appreciate Nintendo Life for posting this article.
I realize that in this industry criticizing the company you write about might jeopardize a relationship with them. ie: not being given exclusive content to reveal, access for interviews, etc.
This articles criticism is extremely fair and well founded. Hopefully this discussion helps lead to what we all want - Nintendo being a success and making their fans happy.
@Xenocity Well Playstation Plus is a fantastic deal. Nintendo needs to figure out how to adopt a similar service. Making their first party virtual console games or a large portion of them free would be a great incentive to start through a monthly service.
Sadly the controls are near impossible to perform on the 3DS. My hand starts to really hurt after just a couple of races contorting to hit all the buttons and shoulder buttons required to play this game.
Congrats consumers! Your reward will be more duel/split titles for the future.
The days of buying a single release of a Nintendo title are dwindling. Soon Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc will all require you to buy two different copies of virtually the same game to get the "complete" experience.
This guy needs to hire a PR Rep. Any legit professional company does. its for their own protection. Game devs are not often socially well adjusted people.
With that said he makes valid points. Part of it feels like Nintendo secrecy, Japanese corporate bueracracy, and just Nintendo being out of date with the current landscape. News of late has not been encouraging for the NX.
@Nin10doh Of course people still have the system. What I was trying to say is that I feel people don't use or are as active with their systems as they were a year ago.
Kimishima was talking about revitalizing the user base with new games. Instead of doing that, I was saying I would prefer and think it a better idea they spend those resources towards their new system.
I doubt they have much cooking anyways. Several typically means 3 (FE Fates, Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Bravely Second, DQ 7 & 8, new Monster Hunter). They're going to continue to push the 3DS and WiiU until they formally show the NX. That's just good business. This is just business talk. Several more titles could mean more Happy Home Designer like titles..
I live in NYC and carry my 3DS to and from work everyday on the subway which includes a transfer at the busy 14th St Union Square stop. Last year I was getting frequent street passes everyday.
Now a days I usually only get 1 spot pass if that. Many days I don't get any.
The system was a relative success when not comparing it to the DS, but please stop trying to jump start a dated system. Resources spent on making more 3DS games are only taking resources and talented studios away from making quality games on the NX. It's time to move on.
@mjharper we have seen what they've come up with. The GFX are clearly not at the same quality of other WiiU titles or even Bayonetta 2 (another platinum game). It looks like an HD remake of a GameCube game. Based on the fact they clearly rushed on the GFX then I believe it's fair to be concerned the gameplay received the same rushed treatment.

Re: International Game Developers Association Issues Critical Statement Over Nintendo and Alison Rapp
Japanese business culture is notoriously sexist and overly bureaucratic.
It comes from the top down people.
@getyourak - Edited to remove sentence that could be construed as overly generalised and possibly even racialographicalist.

Re: Looks Like Nintendo's Familiar Red And White Branding Is Back For Good
This is the kind of good common sense move I hope we see more of from the big N.
Re: More Details Emerge on 80's Overdrive
Very ambitious - very cool
Re: Splatoon to Arrive on 3DS Under the Name "Splatoon Legends"
Well done!
Re: Sega of America Will Be Publishing Atlus Games in North America from Now On
I hope the amazing atlus sales/discounts still happen for their games on the eshop regularly.
Re: My Nintendo Platinum Points Are Being Gifted to Former Club Nintendo Members in North America
Is anyone else upset that coins expire after only 6 months!?
Re: My Nintendo Platinum Points Are Being Gifted to Former Club Nintendo Members in North America
@JaxonH Thanks!
Re: My Nintendo Platinum Points Are Being Gifted to Former Club Nintendo Members in North America
I got the code - but how the hell do you enter it?
Seems like a code system leaves open the door for rewarding physical purchases in the future as well..

Re: My Nintendo and Its Rewards Are Live
The "Just for Me" rewards is offering games that I already own digitally.. sigh
Re: My Nintendo and Miitomo to Launch in the West on 31st March
I've been waiting to make all my digital purchases until this hits so I can earn those gold coins!
Glad this will be coming before the end of the Sega 3D Classics sale.
Re: Editorial: The Weird World Discovered When Searching for Miitomo on Google Play
So the question remains: When's Miitomo launching?
End of March is quickly approaching.

Loads of potential. Good to see it coming along nicely.
Re: 80's Overdrive is Coming to the 3DS
I'd definitely buy this
Re: Video: Get a Closer Look at the Charming Monster Hunter Stories on 3DS
Really impressed with the amount of detail and secondary animation happening. This game looks great!

Re: Review: Super Metroid (New 3DS / SNES)
@teoulas Amazing. How I wish every game on the virtual console had this foresight.
FZero has been damn near unplayable for me on the N3DS due to the button layout - gives my hands cramps.
Re: Nikkei Report Suggests That Wii U Production Will End in 2016
Sounds like a good business decision.
Bring on the new!

Re: Poll: Are You Ready to Download More of Your Retail Games From the eShop?
Calling digital downloads "hipster" makes it sound like you guys here at Nintendo Life are pretty out of touch with social trends.
Your rooms are sadly already full of amiibo. Let the physical disc boxes go people..
Re: Feature: Breaking Down the My Nintendo Loyalty Economy
Any word yet on extra rewards for hitting a year end point total like Club Nintendo?
Re: My Nintendo Has Gone Live in Japan, Introduces Exclusive Content and a DS Download on 3DS
One step forward - two steps back.
Nintendo needs new management/direction.
Re: My Nintendo Has Gone Live in Japan, Introduces Exclusive Content and a DS Download on 3DS
According to these rewards, a single platinum point is worth virtually nothing.
I'm glad they gave away one whole free platinum point for signing up early. Honestly insulting.
Re: My Nintendo Rewards Start on 17th March in Japan, Alongside Miitomo Launch
Stop cluttering your rooms you dorks with physical purchases.
Do your social life a favor - go digital.
Re: Review: World Driver Championship (N64)
@TheRealThanos Well put. I need to go back and play this one again.
Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Virtual Console Revolution Must Wait as We Pay Once More for SNES Games
@SanderEvers We all get that. You're not adding anything new to the discussion here. Sorry
Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Virtual Console Revolution Must Wait as We Pay Once More for SNES Games
@SanderEvers Duh. Of course it's not.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Virtual Console Revolution Must Wait as We Pay Once More for SNES Games
@Xenocity And what's your stance on Nintendo's complete inability to offer sales that compare to the likes of Steam or the PSN?
Re: Video: Feast Your Eyes On Star Fox Zero's Opening Story Cinematic
I think they forgot to animate it.
Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Virtual Console Revolution Must Wait as We Pay Once More for SNES Games
@Xenocity Same thing goes for Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, etc. That hasn't stopped millions of people from using those services.
This is the way of the future and I personally would embrace it.
Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Virtual Console Revolution Must Wait as We Pay Once More for SNES Games

Charge $10 a month for a subscription service that lets you play every virtual console game for free.
Simple fix.
Re: Feature: Exciting Wii U and 3DS Games to Play in Spring and Summer 2016
Considering how much criticism Star Fox Zero and MP Federation Force have received they're the #1 and #3 most anticipated titles...
What's wrong with you people!?
Re: Exclusive: Mutant Mudds Super Challenge Launch Details are Confirmed
I might support this simply because of the cross buy. Happy to see some developers listening to their customers.
Re: Konami and Capcom Are Bringing Some SNES Classics to New 3DS
@jeb_leeds I'm not sure.
For F-Zero on the N3DS acceleration is B, brake is Y, and Speed Thrust is X and A. Shoulder buttons remain the drift/ease left and right.
Re: Konami and Capcom Are Bringing Some SNES Classics to New 3DS
@jeb_leeds Sadly no option to change controls.
F-Zero has been breaking my hand so far to play.
Re: SNES Games Finally Arriving on the New Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console
F-Zero was a day one purchase for me.
Sadly the controls are near impossible to perform on the 3DS. My hand starts to really hurt after just a couple of races contorting to hit all the buttons and shoulder buttons required to play this game.
Buyers beware
Re: A Wii U and 3DS Nintendo Direct Is On the Way
Possible reveals?:
Pikmin 4
Rumored WiiU Paper Mario
Detective Pikachu
Amiibo Centered Game
Next Amiibo Lineup (Very likely)
Re: A Wii U and 3DS Nintendo Direct Is On the Way
I feel Star Fox Zero has the most to prove in this direct. I'll be interested to see what they show/don't show.
