Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Switch OLED Announcement Leave The Rumoured Switch Pro?

fredtoy

We can say for sure that Nintendo is already working on it's next system right now. The DLSS rumor makes sense to me. This technology could boost Nintendo Switch, or Switch's, succesor at a low cost. Who is familiar with the technology on Nvidia's RTX cards knows that it delivers impressive results. That said, in my opinion, Nintendo will stick to the current Switch model, with minor upgrades like this OLED model, until the sales starts to dwindle. Only then they will show their next console, be it Switch Pro, Switch 2, or something else.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel #85 - Dragon Quest

Hard to vote on this one. Akira Toriyama's artwork is the best but I feel both of them achieve what they were set to. Japanese cover gives that Manga/Anime feeling the developers intended for the original release. On the other hand the NA cover has that D&D pen and paper RPG atmosphere that they were trying to sell the game on to western audiences.

"Switch's 6-inch 720p display isn't quite big or sharp enough to render all of the aforementioned UI elements (or the small text) optimally..."

"...It's a PC game at heart, and that remains the preferred format."

I have the PC version. Tried to play it on my TV (with a Steam Link) and found the text to small to be confortable to read. I wondered if the console versions had this problem. This review answered it for me.

Re: Injustice 2 Director on the Possibility of Bringing the Game to Switch

fredtoy

@FTL Thanks for clarifying that the moblie version don't have the same gameplay as the console ones. I actually didn't play any version of Injustice 2 yet. The video on the link I posted gave me the impression that the mobile version had the same gameplay of the console versions. Just graphically inferior and with a very low framerate. I was thinking in a port in the lines of Doom, as you mentioned.

Re: Video: This Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Player Ain't Got No Time For Shrine Puzzles

fredtoy

The first one is more complicated than actually trying to solve the shrine's puzzle. LOL. But I love seeing players 'breakin the game' by thinking outside the box.

@Masurao If the gyro maze you're talking about is the same as I'm thinking, instead of doing the maze with the ball my wife solved it by doing a violent swing on the gamepad. The ball was thrown directly on the hole.

Re: Zelda: Breath of the Wild Update 1.1.2 Makes For A More Pleasant Gaming Experience

The update is on WiiU too. I hope it fixes the freezing issue when you hit a moblin. Yesterday the game froze for several seconds when I fought a moblin near Death Mountain. I don't remember this happening before 1.1.1 patch.

I wished that media outlets started remebering that the game is on Wii U too. Many media outlets (Nintendo Life included) reported this news as if it were Switch exclusive. The Wii U version is not even in the related games list on this article.

Re: Talking Point: The Fragility of Buying Download Games

fredtoy

As @Pahvi stated, even if a person buy physical copies of games these days they're actually "half digital" as there will be many patches and DLC attached to them after the release. The fact that you may not be able to get the full experience of a game you own some years after it's release is a major bummer. But my greatest concern is about day one bug patches. They're becoming increasingly common nowadays. So, even if you get a physical copy of a game today you may end with a nearly unplayable bug ridden version of it as your only option tomorrow.

Re: Nintendo's New Response: Some amiibo "Likely" to be Discontinued

fredtoy

If Nintendo don't stop making less popular Amiibos, they would waste money and resources and the stores would most likely have their bargain bins crowded with them. If Nintendo stop making the less popular figurines, they will vanish from stores and the prices will skyrocket on eBay. Even the likes of Wii Fit Trainer that no one cares about will cost a small fortune.
