Capcom has announced that the currently unavailable Wii U eShop version of Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara has once again been pushed back, with the title now being projected for a September release.
It was released in June for the PS3, Xbox 360 and on Steam. However, gamers waiting to experience the Beat 'em Up on the Wii U eShop have been consistently hit with unforeseen delays; back in June, Capcom senior vice-president Christian Svensson had the following to say regarding the delay:
I don't think we've received code approval from Nintendo just yet which is why we've been unable to confirm a date. It is definitely still coming so please do bear with us. The game is in submission. Stay tuned.
Following on from discussions on the Capcom Unity forums this month, Capcom Community Liaison Gregaman responded to fans queries regarding the ongoing absence of the title by stating:
We regret to inform you all that the release of the Wii U version of Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara has moved to September. There have been a number of development issues and despite our best efforts, the delay could not be avoided. We realize this is a frustrating situation for everyone out there but we ask for your continued patience and support. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.
So it seems that fans may have to wait a little longer to get their dose of side scrolling fantasy Beat 'em Up on the Wii U.
How disappointed are you by the prolonged delays? Are you still looking forward to playing the title on the Wii U, or have the delays led you to purchase the game elsewhere? Let us know your views.
Thanks to Ryan Millar for the tip.

Why the long delay? Im sorry but I wont be getting this in september. I wont suport tardiness especially on a system that could REALLY do without it
I wonder what that delay is about.. anyway i might get it, looks like old-school fun, looking forward to play this in multiplayer.
I'm a little frustrated with the lack of eShop games in general, so D&D doesn't get all of my ire. Still though, delays and setbacks have been this console's kryptonite.
At least its still coming, for some reason I thought it had been cancelled so this is actually good news to me.It's had good reviews on the other consoles and anyway it's September next week so nothing worth complaining about.
They said that the delay was because they had problems getting the game to run on the WiiU. Gues they hoped for a lazy, cheap and easy port job
Devs these days arent used to putting some effort into their projects anymore.
In the same news over and over, the Wii U gets screwed over again by 3rd parties.
Already got it on steam at 40% off too
I could get it on PS3, but I'd rather be able to play off tv in bed. It's more relaxing, same for web browsing
Looks like they are waiting for everyone that has another supported platform to get the game there so they can complain about poor sales on Wii U. ¬¬
"It is definitely still coming so please do bear with us."
Okay then...
I thought that the Wii U was incredibly easy to develop for, I Wonder what the problems are? Hmmmmmmm....
I get the opposite impression from some dev's, the say the GPGPU makes the wii u more difficult to program for not easier.
Thing is, there's devs and there's devs..
How hard can it be to get a couple of CPS2 roms on Wii U? Even with all the extras, what sort of wierd Nintendo commotion must Capcom overcome to get this thing out? We will never, ever get the new "Strider" with news like these.
I personally think the programming aspect is just the devs not analyzing the architecture correctly as far as memory allocation goes .. There next project should be easier..
They got the SFII games up pretty sharpish..
ok, too late. Got it on STEAM since release.
Definitely not regretting it. Even more after all this delays.
My faith in humanity is getting dangerous low after reading this comments. "How hard can it be putting cps roms there?" Is just prove people talks with out having any knowledge about the topic.
I'm just glad it's actually coming. I'll be getting it when it's released.
@Marshi Well if the version I have on Steam is anything to go buy it is completely broken. (Mame or the Saturn versions look fine).
@Reala The only dev's worth bothering with are the ones that get the absolute most out of all of the systems which seems to be pretty much nobody. (It is much easier to code for properly than the PS3 (Using all the SPU's for the engine) or certainly the Saturn).
I've just learned from this article that my most anticipated Wii U game of the summer was released on time on other platforms. Not a good way to start the weekend.
Better late than never. Its only a few weeks away at the most, ill still get it for some co-op shenanigans.
Played the demo on PS3, but waiting for the Wii U version.
Don't matter to me. I've got plenty to play during my free time... until Windwaker comes out, then everything is getting put on hold.
I'd rather wait to get the working version instead of jumping in early and getting a broken one. I'm glad Nintendo told Calvin to go back and fix the bugs, it shows why Ninty are the best and the Wii U version is the superior version, as its the only bug free one.
I'll still buy it, to show Capcom that it's worth delaying to get it right.
The continued delays are really killing my interest in this title... but I'm hesitant to point the finger at third party developers since Nintendo hasn't even been able to get their first-party games out on time. At this point it really seems like Wii U is the problem - and any confidence that I've had in the system improving or turning things around has been rapidly eroding.
@Kodeen already got it.its diferent when I know the game will be brilliant and worth the wait. And pikmin 3 for the record may have taken a while to come out, nintendo never set a definative date then still delay it numorous times.nor was pikmin 3 available for every other system MONTHS before coming to wiiu.
So yeah, why did you bring up pikmin 3 again...?
Waiting... and Waiting...Taps ground impatiently..
Oh well, at least September is better than nothing. i might even be getting this before wonderful 101 Lol
@Kodeen again worth the extra 5 months as I knew it would be awesome. Dungeons and dragons an indy game, not a very good one if the ps3 ver is anything to go by and has been delayed numorous times despite it being on all other systems since june. Also a delayed launch window game, especially when its an important one is expected. An indy eshop game thatmay have been worth a dabble when june was a barron month for wiiu is not.
So im yet again failing to see the similarities
@Kodeen I just dont see it mate. Launch window games are often delayed(pikmin, gears of war, god of war 3 to give three systems examples) and are always worth the wait, let me be clear. Im always willing to be patient for a delayed console exclusive because I know the end product will be worth the wait.Thats not tardiness, thats respect for the source material. However a game that has been delayed more than once, with no reason given, thats readily available on any other system and has been for months is tardy, unprofessional and I will not suport that. Its for those reasons I wont buy scribblenauts unlimited(IF we ever see that game here in the uk!) as thAt was suposed to be a launch game yet it isnt here yet
I would like to applaud Capcom for their Wii U VC support, though. Not only can you already get most of their Mega Man titles via Virtual Console but they seem to be the only company offering discounts when you buy in bulk (like the recent Street Fighter II titles). I imagine programming a non-VC title to be a lot more time-intensive and perhaps they are hitting more roadblocks than they thought. They'll get it better next time. I'd rather not be too harsh towards Capcom as, again, they seem to be the only company besides Nintendo actively supporting the Virtual Console service on the Wii U eShop.
They should make it up to us by discounting it for the first week of release!
Developed by Iron Galaxy? I wish this release had gone smoother so that hopefully we could get a good Divekick port too...
I agree with Azikira.
Capcom should give a nice discount to Wii U owners.
This is a great game. I am going to buy it!!!!
By the time this one releases, I will get Dragon's Crown instead. I'd rather support Vanillaware and Atlus than Capcom too.
I am happy that Ducktales Remastered was developed and ported by a talented developer, so I could buy it Day 1. If Wayforward can do it, why can't the others?
No way I am getting this in September with Rayman Legends and The Wonderful 101.
@MadAdam81 If the version I have is anything to go by I wouldn't expect too much. (It doesn't even look right even if they get it working bug free it will still look awful). Get the Saturn version if you really want to play it.
I wonder if Capcom will throw us a bone and put on a promotion for it to make up for the several-month delay. Half off? Buy it and get Ghosts n Goblins on the cheap? Comes bundled with the VC release of Magic Sword or Knights of the Round? Something would be nice...
Ah ha ha ha. What a joke.
I thought I read rumblings and rumors somewhere that the holdup was with the drop-in/drop-out multiplayer. Honestly, that is the biggest reason I have been waiting for it, so I can get my 3 friends with Wii U's to also grab it. So, if that is the case, I'd be happy to know that it works good.
I don't mind waiting if it comes out as its supposed to (read: no bugs and all the features intact).
From the looks of it, I'd say they failed to pass Nintendo's lotcheck.
Oh well.
@Marshi You won't be buying any 1st party games then? lol.
@ICHIkatakuri Read my previous comments to kodeen
I just bought my Wii U so I have plenty of games to keep me busy until September but I can understand how this is frustrating for those who have been expecting to play this game since July. I'll keep $15 in my e-shop account and keep playing Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper to get my beat-em up fix until next month.
I will continue to wait for the Wii U version. The beat em up genre is one of my favorites from the 8 and 16 bit eras. I wish there were more of them on Wii U. I would love games like Scott Pilgrim and the X-Men Arcade game on Wii U.
This is a really good game! Me and my brother play on our XBOX,its really awesome!! I wish it would go on the 3DS eshop!
this just came out like 3 days ago for the ps3 in a retail/disc form, but only in good ol japan...
I would rather have the game ready for release than something broken =) So I am ok with it^^
