Someone once said about all the nes rom hacks online. If they can’t actually run on real hardware your not really making nes games.
I’d love to see them release a version for the n64. Especially if they were able to make something that tops Conker or Perfect Dark in pushing the system to its limits.
I honestly thought this was just a picture from the game. When I realized that it was actually the female I started to say to myself it looked more like a GameCube game but then decided the poly count of the characters looked too high for that even. Whoever above said it looks like an SD Xbox 360 game hit the nail on the head.
If someone leaks the n64 version of Starfox Adventure (Dinosaur Planet) or Eternal Darkness then I’ll be impressed.
@Dijim The girl who Sonic gets in the end... he’s gonna play the guy she was already in a relationship with. They were actually planning on marrying before Sonic showed back up in her life.

@Mando44646 in the past constantly updating it kept people playing it and kept it relevant so new people would keep buying it or current owners would rebuy it on each new platform.
But actually I would offer that Bedrock Edition is the answer to your point about how they can continue to update the game for free. Microsoft is turning Minecraft into a storefront. People will buy mods created by other people and Microsoft will collect a percentage from each sale. Thus to them it is no longer a game but a platform and, they hope, a long term revenue source.
Making it the same across platforms will certainly simplify maintaining it going forward and cross play should help it remain popular no matter what platform people have access to thus supplying more potential customers for skins and mods.
Look for Java(PC) Edition to lose official support in the near future. There’s no money to be made from mods you can create yourself or download anywhere on the internet for free.
Hate to be the one to tell you guys but Minecraft has gone corporate. This is Aerosmith doing the soundtrack to Armageddon. They’ll probably make more money than ever but will Minecraft still be cool after this? Not to people who know better.
This discussion seems to be revolving around Sony creating a whole new platform and I agree with most everyone else there’s no way they try that again. Even Nintendo has realized the true difficulty of having separate handheld and home consoles is not producing the hardware but producing enough software for both platforms to remain healthy. With limited resources and the increasing complexity of producing modern games they couldn’t properly support the Wii U at launch while saving the 3ds from doom. Hence they combined software divisions and brought out the Switch.
The problem with PSP and Vita was always that although the games might have been “console quality” they were still separate games and people had to chose whether they wanted to spend their money on another copy of Madden that is “just as good as on the PS2” when they already had PS2 Madden waiting for them at home. And then developers had to devote resources to two separate SKUs hoping enough people would not do what I just described.
But I don’t think the idea should be to mimic those devices anyways. Instead imagine, if you will, the Sega Nomad had come with a TV dock and was just called Genesis/Mega Drive Portable and was actually the third revision of the system, replacing the model 2 at retail to lure late adopters in a way that allowed them to avoid the standard late gen price drop and maintain revenue levels a bit longer.
In the same way a PS4 Hybrid could replace or at least delay the eventual PS4 Super Slim. And most importantly sell more copies of the existing software library to late adopters. It could allow the ps4 to stick around well into the ps5 much like the ps2 and PSOne before it. And if it’s super successful then people could actually continue to produce games and it could serve as a cash cow for Sony like the GameBoy was for Nintendo all the way from the late NES era right through the n64.
Now am I saying this is actually going to happen? I can’t even be sure of what I wrote at the beginning of this comment. Sorry for the wall of text. I hope my edit(s) help to focus my message.
But I do think it could be a successful product marketed in this way. Assuming it becomes technologically feasible in time.
And as @spawn1210 pointed out they already have a potential “Undocked Mode” built in to all the games. Vanilla in Portable mode PS4 Pro while docked. Those Discs though...
@ValhallaOutcast @rjejr for the love of all that is holy Altered Beast is a terrible game. Please people stop asking for it and stop buying it.
I bought so many of the Sega 3D Classics on the 3ds. Altered Beast not only took time and resources to port that could have been spent on some actual good game but then it took up a spot on the 3D Classics Collection. Literally any of the other 3D classics that weren’t included are better games.
Look guys, I thought “RISE FROM THE GRAVE” was as cool as any kid back in the 90s when I played it at some kids house. My mother even freaked out about it like moms did back then. But 20 years later it only took 30 seconds of playing it on one of those mini sega plug and plays to realize the game is actually terrible.
I never bought it on the 3ds and even declined to buy the Collection. Now I ask the rest of the world to do the same. Our kids will inherit the world we leave them lets let Altered Beast not be part of our legacy.
Personally I think they should have went the Megaman 9 route and made a game that looks just like the Dreamcast games. Even better if it could actually run on the Dreamcast and they release it on that as well.
I’d be much more interested to see what they could have squeezed out of that system with an extra 15 years of wisdom. A technical wonder and a look at what could have been vs a game that probably won’t be anything remarkable compared to it what exists in this day and age.
I’m not up on the Dreamcast hacking scene but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a demake put out someday by some determined fans.
@MH4 I actually think they could have got a couple more years out of the Wii if they were more iterative with it. Maybe a new model wouldnt run the games in HD but it could have had HDMI and ups along along with an HD interface. Even Netflix in HD would have excited certain people.
Not everyone who used theirs as a Wii Sports machine would have cared but it could have created some new buzz around the brand and maybe even some momentum to carry them into the release of Wii U.
I kind of think now that they have unified their handheld and console into one device Nintendo should treat the Switch like Apple treats the iPhone. By that I mean less as a specific piece of hardware more as the beginning of a unified Nintendo platform of which the all games belong. And then they should keep releasing new revisions that are more and more powerful but still run the same games. Maybe even on a schedule so we all are waiting breathlessly for the next big reveal.
I’m not sure they’ll actually do what I just described but I actually think it would be a nice way for us to get better hardware as time goes on while at the same time enjoying maybe up to a 10 year lifecycle for the Switch games themselves.
I do think it’s a matter of “when” not “if” that even if they do stick to a more traditional console lifecycle at some point in the next couple of years they’ll announce a lower price Switch TV or something that isn’t portable and can’t be “switched”. As anachronistic as it sounds they did come out with a 3ds without 3D.
They just have to wait for the platform to be well established enough that they don’t need to worry about it diminishing the cachet they’re enjoying due to the uniqueness of the switching idea. This will be a for the price drop segment of the market. The people who buy a system after the first big price drop.
Maybe before that, but again not if but when, there will be a mini switch for kids. All one piece, no removable joycons, smaller footprint. Lower cost, less breakable.
@Gamecubed It took 35 people for someone to see the big picture. Actually more like reading between the lines. I fully expect a remastered compilation to appear on the Switch at some point.
And I bet this version will be simpler to port since it probably runs on the same engine as the sequel.
@AlexOlney The settings do in fact need to be changed though for a proper comparison to take place. The Wii U only outputs Limited Range RGB (16-235) which is actually the standard for TVs and video content, where as the Switch has the option to enable Full Range RGB (0-255) which is the standard for computers and their displays.
Full Range allows for a slight improvement in gradations of color but otherwise should look identical if the screen is properly calibrated.Or In this case the capture card is setup to properly match each standard.
I’m almost certain there’s a toggle in whatever software you use to capture the footage for this exact setting. Otherwise you could just set the Switch to output Limited Range to match the Wii U and then proceed to capture without having to worry about matching levels.
This may actually be more urgent but I seem to recall a couple of instances in reviews for certain Switch rereleases (Zelda?) where you guys reference the Switch’s ability to output a punchier more vibrant image compared to the Wii U.
I’d be curious to know if that is actually a result of your displays not being properly calibrated for Black at 0 versus 15 on the 0-255 scale. What it called to mind is something called black crush which can sometimes look nice and vibrant but can also destroy shadow detail in an image.
As you guys are sort of a place of record when it comes to these games, I think it would be worth looking further into this issue to determine whether any of the reviews need to be amended to eliminate any misleading information - admittedly stemming from a misunderstanding of some pretty technical video standards that in a better world would not exist to make our lives so needlessly difficult.
@astrofan1993 I’ve heard that in these instances you can contact Nintendo Customer Support and they will transfer your account to a new Wii so that you can redownload your previously purchased games. I think you would just need to know the information for the account you used on the dead Wii. I’m not 100% certain they could do the transfer to a Wii U but it’d be worth calling them up.
If you’re in the US and you haven’t memorized it yet 1-800-255-3700 is the phone number.
You still won’t have your saves but at least your not out of luck on the money you spent on the games.
My kid was a fan of Cube Creator 3D. So much so that he convinced his friend to buy it so they could play multiplayer when the 1.2 update was supposed to arrive two summers ago.
I’d be much more interested to know when and if that update is still coming out.
Kids with non New 2ds still can’t play real Minecraft on them and Cube Creator still seems to be the best alternative in that situation. I’d even go so far as to say they could still get some decent sales releasing the multiplayer along with a physical release for $19.99. Or Even as a 2ds bundle.
$125 New 3ds “refurbished.” These are most likely brand new since they never sold enough in the US to have refurbished ones. I think they’re just clearing out unused stock without the complications of introducing a new model to retail. It’s more expensive than the Black Friday deal but still a great price and there are more options than the Black or white Mario plates. And you can actually get one now.
$160 for New 3ds XL refurbished.
Again all these come with full 1 year warranties. There’s no reason to buy refurbished anywhere else. Shipping seems to be $5 and they have deals on some games too.
My sons friend only has an original model 3ds. His father only plays fishing games. If we can just find 100,000 more people like that they’ll have a sure fire hit on their hands.
@Heavyarms55 it’s the Switch with special red joycons with a code for Odyssey plus an Odyssey themed carrying case.
Not really a deal but if you’re buying Mario anyways then it’s just a matter of whether you like the all red color scheme and the case it comes with. And you get a nifty box with Mario all over it.
Personally I really enjoy the Red/Blue combo of the standard bundle. I find the clash of colors creates a rather iconic look that stands out against other devices on the market.
@Tyranexx Do it. I would myself but I already bought both of them along with a bunch of other Sega 3D Classics when they were on sale for around the same price. A few bucks plus 150 worthless platinum points each is great considering the job M2 did bringing them to 3ds.
The 3D effect really works well on these games and even if you don’t care for the 3D effect it’s a great price to have these games portable. I even finally beat Sonic 1 with all the chaos emeralds mostly due to the portability factor.
Now hopefully they decide to release Sonic 3/Knuckles. A few more sales on these ones couldn’t hurt the cause. And finally, everyone please stop buying Altered Beast.
@rjejr just a heads up that Amazon Prime discount only applies to pre orders now. I wasn’t aware of the change until I went to order Odyssey last Saturday and the discount was gone. I contacted customer support and got them to honor the discount this time but figured I’d save anyone the headache.
@Filth_Element That’s fine and all. I’m not really looking for a way to actually do that. I was trying to convey my view that this was not an accidental byproduct of programming in support for some input standard that the adapter just happens to use.
When plugged into a pc wired ps3 controllers are usually detected as standard Direct Input devices. I might be wrong but I thought the GameCube adapter was as well. I know it can be used to play games on Dolphin but maybe it requires drivers to do so. This made me think to try my son’s ps3 controller to see if Nintendo added support for Direct Input devices. Like someone else earlier I had the idea of being able to use any ps3 or pre Xbox 360 pc controller on Switch.
Thinking about it now I’m sure they use a proprietary protocol on their system even if the controllers themselves are Direct Input compatible on PCs. Which leads me to the conclusion that they deliberately added support for the GCN Adapter and hopefully for a good reason.
And hopefully they have some new-stock Smash Bros controllers hidden somewhere. I was hoping to pick some up cheap with the demise of Wii U but instead they all seem to have disappeared.
My sons third party wired ps3 controller doesn’t work so it’s not like they added Direct Input support and coincidentally the GCN Adapter works now.
I do believe Reggie that he didn’t know though. They didn’t have plans on announcing it and since he’s not programming the thing he would have no reason to know they added it until they’re ready to announce it.
As far as I can tell he’s mostly a spokesperson. As the president of NOA he is probably also in charge of the day to day operations in Washington as well and can offer input regarding this market but decisions are made in Japan. He sells those decisions to us.
I’m still wondering where the multiplayer update for Cube Creator 3D is. It was supposed to come out summer 2016. My son already had it and we encouraged his friend to buy it under the pretense that once the update came out they’d be able to play together. If you guys could do a follow up with Big John games on it that would be great.
For basically the price of Minecraft PE, Cube Creator is a nice Minecraft alternative that from what Ive seen is quite a bit more polished than the other Minecraft style games available on 3ds.
Unfortunately this game doesn’t seem to change the situation much. On the one hand 8 player multiplayer is impressive, as is infinite worlds but the gameplay seems lacking. My sons friend is limited to a standard 3ds plus all the kids with 2ds means there’s still a market for games that fill this niche. It would be great if this ends up being a quality release.
@impurekind Or you can use some actual SNES controllers. Of course not everyone still has them but it’s nice that they offer it without any controllers to keep the price down for those that do.
And if your okay without wireless you should be able to find genuine ones for less than $40. Though the days of finding those for $3 at thrift stores are probably coming to an end.
I played 15 seconds of the demo at Gamestop and nothing about collecting coins for the heck of it seemed compelling. Plus the fact that it came out at the same time as NSMBU I almost skipped both. But with the good reviews for NSMBU i picked it up when I found it for $30 before I got my Wii U. Reviews for this game seemed to confirm that it wasnt worth my time with so many games in my backlog.
All that being said I always thought the white and red 2DS looked better than black ones so its cool this color is finally coming stateside. Famicom colors ftw. The newer red and blue face ones look cool though.
We bought my son a refurbished transparent red one off store.nintendo.com a couple years ago when he was just turning 8 and it really is a great system for young kids. No hinge to break means its a little closer to the Gameboy tradition of being almost indestructible. Especially with some cheap screen protectors slapped on there. They even have glass top/plastic bottom screen ones for less than $10 on some websites that people shop at.
MK7 is the perfect pack in game though so for the same price I'd stick with that. Especially if its going to be the only game for a while. Or the refurbished ones from nintendo are $60 and then you can pick your own $20 game. But really everyone should have MK7... or Animal Crossing. That would make a better bundle.
@AlphaElite I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the real purpose of all this. I told my brother this would happen when Windows 10 Beta came out and was free when you bought the real game or was only $10.
Though I don't think them eventually abandoning the Java version has anything to do with them wanting to take it away from Linux or Mac. Heck they'll probably make a Mac edition to match the rest of them.
It's always been a long play toward future monitization of mods and add-ons which are free and uncontrollable in the Java version. It was obvious where it was going when they released combat mode on consoles, which is basically Hunger Games without the stolen name and levels that cost money and aren't made by modders.
I don't play Minecraft but this interests me in an academic manner. My son loves it though and it will be sad to see his favorite game transform from a game with a great community that is constantly tinkering with it to create new experiences to what Microsoft has always hoped it could be. A self contained marketplace available on as many devices as possible. In other words a long term corporate revenue stream.
Much like how I've watch the internet sell out, and people before me watched Punk Rock go mainstream, I guess we all get to experience this disillusionment at some point in our lives. I feel for the Minecraft generation. Who knows maybe Microsoft will keep the Java version alive but it's clear its no longer the main version of the game.
Built in 2 player out and about might be my most anticipated feature of getting a switch. I've never played KoF before but games like this are what I want on my switch.
@Skunkfish It was only a few years ago that I realized we used to each get a 180x120p screen in 4 player n64 games. And that was through an RF connection or maybe composite when we got a nicer tv. I think that might be worse than Gameboy resolution. And on the times we were hooked up to a 13" TV/VCR combo, not much bigger either. Probably appears smaller from the distance you end up sitting away from the screen. Plus that Goldeneye framerate. LOL.
What shocked me a while back was the realization that we're rapidly approaching the point where the modern video game industry has existed longer after the original smash bros than before it.
I actually think the mismatched colors were a smart choice to make the thing stand out. If this thing takes off I could see the Neon becoming iconic imagery versus the grey which looks like everything else.
Reminds me of the original DS models. Once I found out that Streetpass was the reason for the terrible sleep battery on the 3DS I started to keep wireless turned off most times unless I was going somewhere I thought other Streetpassers might be. Though even with wireless off standby still wasn't up to the older models. It was always fun closing the DSphat and coming back to it a few days later with the green led still shining proud.
Didn't Know about this game but I'll add it to my wishlist to maybe pick up someday.
It did remind me that I wanted to try Twinbee 3d back when the 3D classics were released. I almost bought Xevious instead back then based on reputation but I found it for NES for $3 and was not into it. I didn't know it was an endless shooter. And by then I decided to wait for a sale. LOL. Oh well. Eventually Sega filled my 3D Classics urges while Nintendo let theirs become lost in the depths of the eShop
I hope the joysticks are better than the PS Vita ones. I honestly kind of love the 3ds slide pad especially the bit of resistance it provides when stearing in racing games and with my limited time with the PSV I barely consider the joysticks analog with such small range of motion. Also slide pads would have made the PSV much more pocketable. Just sayin. Anyways that video is the first time I've got a good look at the joysticks and realized they weren't the standard ps2, Xbox, GCN kind.
I just want the controller to play with my Wii hooked to my 24" CRT. I've got a most of the games I want on cartridge to play on my NES but... well honestly I just want to play Lost Levels with a real NES controller in 240p with Scanlines.
I wish they would have included emulation on the Original Wii both Virtual Console and homebrew in the Video. I've never been able to find an in depth analysis on either option.
I know its not possible for everything but more things nowadays should run on standard AA or AAAs. After buying some Eneloops I sort of wish I could use them for everything. I'm not saying they would work in this instance with how slim they had to make the tablet but with how unslim the Wii U gamepad is they could have saved some cost and maybe improved the standard batterylife as well by using standard AAs. Id prefer that over them cheaping out on the included battery only to sell an extended one for $40.
A few years back I read about an e reader that was supposed to come outfor ~$20 that had a round grippy part on one side that AAs slotted into. A pair of alkalines were supposed last a year which makes rechargables almost overkill at that point IMO. I don't think it was ever released at least in America probably due to the dominance of the Kindle over here but I thought the idea was great and was the Exact right way to make a lower cost device.
I don't understand why people complain about the XBone controller using AAs. I think its great that I'll never have to worry about replacing a proprietary battery. Then again Eneloops are way better than the non low discharge rechargables most people have used. I recommend them for any wii remotes or other devices. And they last forever in my $8 electric razor.
@Mart1ndo when you do a system transfer from the Wii to the Wii U any games that transfer are no longer on the Wii. I believe you have to do the system transfer to be eligible for the discounted price. So both the original Virtual console version that you have to access through the virtual Wii menu and the new eshop release would be on the Wii U. Your Wii would have nothing on it.
Is it even worth the $2. I know about off screen and the fact that you don't have to use the vWii to launch but isn't the visual quality actually worse. Can you continue to use the Wii version after upgrade?
I don't have MK64 but I have a few games still on my original Wii. I never did a system transfer because for n64 games I prefer the gcn controller and any of the older system games look better on my Wii hooked up to a nice 24" CRT in 240p than they would on my flat screen. And actually the 2 n64 games I have, star fox and Mario 64 look better on my n64 with svideo. I didn't have the crt when I bought starfox and I didn't own Mario 64 before buying it on the Virtual Console.
@Damo For whatever reason the Gamegear titles are no longer showing a discount. Hopefully its fixed before noon when the sale ends because I wanted to buy Sonic 1 and Power Drift 2 at the discounted prices. Maybe Sonic 2 as well. I picked up All Star Racing Wii U and Sonic 2 3d but I wanted to try some GG games on my 3ds.
My kids friend bought this in anticipation of multiplayer so they could play together. I thought I had read that it was going to be out by the end of summer and I was wondering about it recently. I'm sorry to hear about the loss.
I appreciate the update on the progress though and given the circumstances dont mind waiting for the release. I was a little worried since I was the one who told him they would be able to play together. They both enjoy the game and his friend only has the 3ds so I'm glad someone made a decent Minecraft type game for a reasonable price.

Re: Stardew Valley Multiplayer Could Be Ready As Soon As Next Month
@Dom how about the multiplayer update for Cube Creator 3D?
Re: Yu Suzuki Says There Are No Plans For Shenmue III On Switch, Unsurprisingly
Personally I think they should have went the Megaman 9 route and made a game that looks just like the Dreamcast games. Even better if it could actually run on the Dreamcast and they release it on that as well.
I’d be much more interested to see what they could have squeezed out of that system with an extra 15 years of wisdom. A technical wonder and a look at what could have been vs a game that probably won’t be anything remarkable compared to it what exists in this day and age.
I’m not up on the Dreamcast hacking scene but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a demake put out someday by some determined fans.
Re: Video: Digital Foundry Considers "Nintendo Switch Pro" With NVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor
Re: Video: Digital Foundry Considers "Nintendo Switch Pro" With NVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor
Re: GameCube Classic Luigi's Mansion Rises From The Grave On 3DS This Year
@Gamecubed It took 35 people for someone to see the big picture. Actually more like reading between the lines. I fully expect a remastered compilation to appear on the Switch at some point.
And I bet this version will be simpler to port since it probably runs on the same engine as the sequel.

Re: Video: Feast Your Eyes on Bayonetta 2 on Switch Compared to Wii U
Re: Reminder: Time To Purchase Wii Shop Points Is Running Out
@astrofan1993 I’ve heard that in these instances you can contact Nintendo Customer Support and they will transfer your account to a new Wii so that you can redownload your previously purchased games.
Re: First Details Emerge For Minecraft-Like Cube Creator X on Switch
My kid was a fan of Cube Creator 3D. So much so that he convinced his friend to buy it so they could play multiplayer when the 1.2 update was supposed to arrive two summers ago.
I’d be much more interested to know when and if that update is still coming out.
Kids with non New 2ds still can’t play real Minecraft on them and Cube Creator still seems to be the best alternative in that situation. I’d even go so far as to say they could still get some decent sales releasing the multiplayer along with a physical release for $19.99. Or Even as a 2ds bundle.
Re: Guide: The Top Nintendo Black Friday 2017 Deals in the US
Store.nintendo.com
$60 2ds refurbished full warranty
$125 New 3ds “refurbished.” These are most likely brand new since they never sold enough in the US to have refurbished ones. I think they’re just clearing out unused stock without the complications of introducing a new model to retail. It’s more expensive than the Black Friday deal but still a great price and there are more options than the Black or white Mario plates. And you can actually get one now.
$160 for New 3ds XL refurbished.
Again all these come with full 1 year warranties. There’s no reason to buy refurbished anywhere else. Shipping seems to be $5 and they have deals on some games too.
Re: Bandai Namco Is Releasing One Of The Most Ridiculously Awesome 3DS Peripherals Yet
My sons friend only has an original model 3ds. His father only plays fishing games. If we can just find 100,000 more people like that they’ll have a sure fire hit on their hands.
Re: Nintendo Outlines Black Friday Deals, With A "Link Green" Zelda 2DS Leading The Charge
Re: My Nintendo in North America Adds New Sonic Rewards
Re: Europe Gets Eight New Wii U and 3DS My Nintendo Discount Rewards
store.nintendo.com has Captain Toad for $20 with the amiibo. At least in NA. I don’t know if there is a European equivalent of that website.
Re: Nintendo Outlines Black Friday Deals, With A "Link Green" Zelda 2DS Leading The Charge
@rjejr just a heads up that Amazon Prime discount only applies to pre orders now. I wasn’t aware of the change until I went to order Odyssey last Saturday and the discount was gone. I contacted customer support and got them to honor the discount this time but figured I’d save anyone the headache.
Re: Reggie on GameCube Controller Support on the Switch
Re: Reggie on GameCube Controller Support on the Switch
My sons third party wired ps3 controller doesn’t work so it’s not like they added Direct Input support and coincidentally the GCN Adapter works now.
I do believe Reggie that he didn’t know though. They didn’t have plans on announcing it and since he’s not programming the thing he would have no reason to know they added it until they’re ready to announce it.
As far as I can tell he’s mostly a spokesperson. As the president of NOA he is probably also in charge of the day to day operations in Washington as well and can offer input regarding this market but decisions are made in Japan. He sells those decisions to us.

Re: Minecraft-Like Title Battleminerz is Heading to 3DS This Year
I’m still wondering where the multiplayer update for Cube Creator 3D is.
Re: The Analogue Super Nt Is The Ultimate SNES Clone, And You Can Pre-Order Now
@impurekind Or you can use some actual SNES controllers. Of course not everyone still has them but it’s nice that they offer it without any controllers to keep the price down for those that do.
And if your okay without wireless you should be able to find genuine ones for less than $40. Though the days of finding those for $3 at thrift stores are probably coming to an end.
Re: Nintendo of America Confirms Another 2DS Bargain Bundle
Re: Take a Look at The Nintendo Switch Pocket Dock SP
A foldable dock that fits in your pocket is a pretty neat idea.
Re: Minecraft's Cross-Platform Update Is Coming To Nintendo Switch This August
Re: Review: The King of Fighters '98 (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Runs At 60fps In 1080p When Docked
@Skunkfish It was only a few years ago that I realized we used to each get a 180x120p screen in 4 player n64 games. And that was through an RF connection or maybe composite when we got a nicer tv. I think that might be worse than Gameboy resolution. And on the times we were hooked up to a 13" TV/VCR combo, not much bigger either. Probably appears smaller from the distance you end up sitting away from the screen. Plus that Goldeneye framerate. LOL.
Re: The Nintendo 64 Is 20 Years Old Today In Europe And Australia
What shocked me a while back was the realization that we're rapidly approaching the point where the modern video game industry has existed longer after the original smash bros than before it.
Re: Matching Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons Sure Look Pretty
I actually think the mismatched colors were a smart choice to make the thing stand out. If this thing takes off I could see the Neon becoming iconic imagery versus the grey which looks like everything else.
Re: The Nintendo Switch's Sleep Mode Is Extremely Power Efficient
Reminds me of the original DS models. Once I found out that Streetpass was the reason for the terrible sleep battery on the 3DS I started to keep wireless turned off most times unless I was going somewhere I thought other Streetpassers might be. Though even with wireless off standby still wasn't up to the older models. It was always fun closing the DSphat and coming back to it a few days later with the green led still shining proud.

Re: Steel Empire Gets Permanent Price Drop In North America
Didn't Know about this game but I'll add it to my wishlist to maybe pick up someday.
It did remind me that I wanted to try Twinbee 3d back when the 3D classics were released. I almost bought Xevious instead back then based on reputation but I found it for NES for $3 and was not into it. I didn't know it was an endless shooter. And by then I decided to wait for a sale. LOL. Oh well. Eventually Sega filled my 3D Classics urges while Nintendo let theirs become lost in the depths of the eShop
Re: Video: Check Out This Official Nintendo Switch Hardware Overview
I hope the joysticks are better than the PS Vita ones. I honestly kind of love the 3ds slide pad especially the bit of resistance it provides when stearing in racing games and with my limited time with the PSV I barely consider the joysticks analog with such small range of motion. Also slide pads would have made the PSV much more pocketable. Just sayin. Anyways that video is the first time I've got a good look at the joysticks and realized they weren't the standard ps2, Xbox, GCN kind.
Re: Video: Digital Foundry Puts the NES Mini Up Against Retro Rivals
I just want the controller to play with my Wii hooked to my 24" CRT. I've got a most of the games I want on cartridge to play on my NES but... well honestly I just want to play Lost Levels with a real NES controller in 240p with Scanlines.
I wish they would have included emulation on the Original Wii both Virtual Console and homebrew in the Video. I've never been able to find an in depth analysis on either option.
Re: Nintendo Will Replace Your Dead Switch Battery, At A Cost
Re: Nintendo Download: 29th December (North America)
@Mart1ndo when you do a system transfer from the Wii to the Wii U any games that transfer are no longer on the Wii. I believe you have to do the system transfer to be eligible for the discounted price. So both the original Virtual console version that you have to access through the virtual Wii menu and the new eshop release would be on the Wii U. Your Wii would have nothing on it.
Re: Nintendo Download: 29th December (North America)
Re: Nintendo Marks Sonic's 25th Birthday With Digital Sale In North America
@Damo For whatever reason the Gamegear titles are no longer showing a discount. Hopefully its fixed before noon when the sale ends because I wanted to buy Sonic 1 and Power Drift 2 at the discounted prices. Maybe Sonic 2 as well. I picked up All Star Racing Wii U and Sonic 2 3d but I wanted to try some GG games on my 3ds.
Re: Big John Games Explains the Delay for Cube Creator 3D's Newest Update
My kids friend bought this in anticipation of multiplayer so they could play together. I thought I had read that it was going to be out by the end of summer and I was wondering about it recently. I'm sorry to hear about the loss.
I appreciate the update on the progress though and given the circumstances dont mind waiting for the release. I was a little worried since I was the one who told him they would be able to play together. They both enjoy the game and his friend only has the 3ds so I'm glad someone made a decent Minecraft type game for a reasonable price.
