Re: Review: GRID Autosport - Finally, Switch Gets The Serious Racing Game It Deserves

@phanboy I'm not sure what you're referring to? This game is $35, and is a well made, full-featured racing game... it's the best realistic graphics racer on the switch. It may be a port of an older game, but that doesn't make it not a great game. Taking a 'new' game and downgrading its effects to the level of this game isn't really any better...

They put a lot of work into making the game work as good as possible on the switch, including the possibly of gamecube analog control. The game also says that it will be having additional free DLC packs.

booting it up now!

edit:

  • downloading high resolution car textures as a free update from the eshop... it isn't holding up playing
  • something else that is cool is it has a link to 'extra content', where the subtitle is 'download FREE DLC packs'. the only one available right now is the textures, but from this link, i'm assuming there will be more and they will be free.
  • the game has a ton of difficulty levels, and various realism levels, starting with damage being only cosmetic. The game definitely isn't NFS with Nitro and stuff, but it has plenty of options that can make it more arcadey or technical i think.
  • right when you first load it, it lets you pick your 'audio' name, which is the name the game calls you audibly...

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Takes A Detailed Look At The Updated Switch SKU

For sure, I picked this up... traded my switches in, and got one new one, and going to get another at some point... The price I paid is worth it just for the battery... even if you don't play mobile, it is still something you can do, so why not have a 5 hour battery instead of a 3? And, after two years, getting a new unit, that runs cooler, and has potentially better joy cons seems like a good deal all around.

Re: If You Recently Bought A Switch, Nintendo Will Replace It With A Revised Model

Well, many retailers already have 30 day or longer return policies... Best Buy does for sure. Walmart probably would take it too... So, if anyone purchased the older unit within the last month, there should be no problem returning and exchanging it via the retailer. I think this is better anyways because then you don't have to pay shipping or wait for anything.

Re: Super Mario Maker 2 Currently Lets You Upload Just 32 Courses

So, I'm not sure about something... you have 32 slots... if you delete one of your levels, can you add another new one back in? 32 slots to place your best levels seems perfectly reasonable.

On the other hand, if you 32 upload chances, and then you couldn't do anything at all, that would be a bit lame.

Re: The Genki USB Bluetooth Adapter Finally Brings Low-Latency Audio To Switch

@RasandeRose Why would you say that USB is 'less quality'? USB is a digital signal, the quality of the output will be based on the quality of the digital to analog converters and the speakers being used. It should be possible to be better quality than the already converted to analog headphone jack being converted back to digital and then back to analog in the headset.

Re: Super Bomberman R Is Coming To Rival Systems With Exclusive Characters

derrin

How is this different than any other game that has arrived on the Switch after being on other systems first? Konami obviously had a meeting and said, 'We've fleshed out this game... let's expand its footprint.'

We have a ton of games that have arrived on Switch after developers thought the same thing... they made a game, and can make more money by porting it to another system.

I think the only time this kind of thing is lame is when the Switch needs momentum, and other systems pay to take away access or exclusivity to it...

I really like this game. I actually bought it twice. First at launch, but traded it in for huge credit quickly when I realized it wasn't very good... but it has improved a ton, and i rebought it on sale a while back...

Hopefully in that same meeting Konami recognized the need to put more games on Switch.

Re: Review: Her Majesty's SPIFFING (Switch eShop)

I can't tell from this review if the game is good or not. It seems short, and is a point and click adventure game... but is it good? Is it a good point and click adventure game? People who only play certain genres might not like others, but whether the game is good for what it is, that's the question... and I couldn't get a clear sense of that from this review.

Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch)

@gatorboi352 I think they put a lot of effort into supporting Zelda. That would take away from what they could put into this.

Maybe they could have used a delay, but maybe Nintendo didn't want to bother with that as they didn't think that the improvements would increase the audience enough.

I'm curious if we'll see some performance increases over the next while as they continue to have some time to tweak it a bit more.
