Expect a 30fps cap on the Switch 2 port for B4. Series S also has lower resolution, cutback graphics, and a 30fps cap, but is playable. If you want the 60fps experience, you will need to grab this on PC, Series X, or PS5.
I would expect Series X and PS5 to get an FOV slider, but Switch 2 and Series S can just about hit 30fps with cutback graphics, and the increased FOV could tank the frame rate below 30fps.
I'm happy with the flexibility that key cards offer in certain instances. The majority of consumers just want to buy the game, play it and then sell it on. They aren't preservationists.
Sony and Microsoft have been doing the licence on a media thing for years. Nintendo just made the mistake of branding it into a buzzword people can get angry over.
A key card was the right call for this game as the quality and performance of the game should take priority over the media format.
I am excited for this game, but even I know the Switch 2 is going to run this game pretty poorly vs the PS5, which already looks to be struggling.
I can't say I am bothered by the key card thing (more bothered by the incessant moaning) as I buy digital, but it is another reason (from the expected performance) to get this on PS5 or Xbox over Switch 2.
I'm playing the demo on PS5 right now! it's super fun! I am undecided whether I will get this on PS5 or Switch 2. having the Switch 2 upgrade is a big plus.
Good luck to DF for the future. I got told off by Sammy from Push Square, like last month, because I said IGN/Ziff Davis owned them. He said they were "advertising partners only" and not owned in any way by Ziff Davis/fully independent. Hookshot might have supposed full autonomy now, but they are part-owned, and if the shareholding increases in the future, that could be bad news for us. I think that is a very reasonable concern given how DF openly admitted their content had to be approved by executives. I have noticed a change in the way content has been presented post-pandemic, but I'm choosing to believe it's ZD providing support on how to increase ad revenue via SEO.
@somnambulance Xbox got Silksong marketing rights - The Date will come at Gamescom. Prime looking like a November drop with Hades, so expect them announced in August - Sept too.
FF7 Remake and Silksong will be announced via Xbox as I previously mentioned. The big stuff people are waiting for will drop in September. Having a Direct in July is something that has been done to get some smaller bits out of the way and drop some 2026 announcements.
The show has some good bits overall and was a solid 7/10 to tide us over for the next 6 weeks or so until the September main Direct.
As Nintendo fans, we have been spoiled rotten, so any kind of downtime is seen as a very big deal.
@Koda1000 He has sources that work in Nintendo. He doesn't ask to be reported on, nor is he looking for attention. People ask him questions and he answers them.
The direct is next Thursday btw (will be announced on Weds)
@Coxula honestly I am feeling the same. I am fine with my Switch lite playing the games I want, and a lot of the other games I like aren't exclusives anymore. I got a Switch 2 but have been left unimpressed tbh. It's a gernational leap, but it's like going from PS3 to PS4/pro tbh.
I could only dream of a GameStop in the UK. Americans don't realise how lucky they are to still have dedicated standalone games stores nationwide. They will feel the loss in the future when they are gone.
I really don't mind game key cards at all. If it allows more publisher to do physical in an affordable way I'm all for it. I can still sell the game or trade it whenever I want. I feel sorry for those who do have a problem with it as I can imagine it's going to be a difficult few years ahead.
I think the screen is fine - if it's a choice between 120fps or Oled I am going to take the higher frames. OLED will come in due course when it becomes cheaper, but I would not expect it for 3-4 years. The Lite will most likely come out first.
I get around 2 hours with Cyberpunk 2077 on handheld, If you want more power, you've got to pay with battery life, as the PC handhelds would demonstrate. I think I could get 3-4 hours if I turned of internet, put brightness below 40% and played a less intensive game.
I can see a unit update with improved battery in a year or 2. I hope there is a software fix for us early adopters.
I'm buying it and will gladly pay the £7.99 because this game wasn't made for free. It costs time, effort, skill, and money. I have no problem paying for something that others have worked on and that I find interesting.
I honestly have not trusted game in years and glad I went with Smyth's who actually do midnight launches and have better stock allocation these days. The fact that they have limited stock to buy on the 5th is very helpful to those who couldn't secure a pre order
@Captain_Kirk I spoke to the manager at my store, and for in-store pre-orders, the money will be taken at a point on Wednesday, when they receive their stock. It seems like Smyths are keeping the stock at their own warehouses and then shipping it on Wednesday to stop staff breaking the street date. For online home delivery, it will be when the item ships (Guessing that will be early next week too).
Criticising the game will do nothing; not buying it has the biggest impact if you truly feel it's not worth it, or previous games haven't been worth it. For devs and publishers, money talks.
@Captain_Kirk It says 2-7 days on there for online delivery, but I haven't had any confirmation on in-store pick-up. I have seen different things about that, although it looks to be close to the launch date. Also, if the payment bounces, you will receive an email giving you 24 hours to re-enter the payment details.
@Captain_Kirk I have had the 1p active card check, but I'm guessing you mean they pre-authorise the full amount prior. I feel like I remember them taking the payment a bit before you collect, as people could take the console and let the payment bounce.
@OldGamer999 So, for Click and Collect, you pay in the store? For Smyths click and collect, I normally pay via card online before they let me take the thing home. I haven't done a pre-order with them yet, though. I just can't imagine they would let me take my system home without paying first (Like if a card got declined).
I'm quite surprised but the perceived shortage of stock in the US. In the UK, I have been able to comfortably pre-order 2 units and could have pre-ordered a couple more. The UK is one of the largest Nintendo markets, and demand is high. I am guessing the UK must be a priority market for Nintendo based on the % of profit it makes (more than Japan and the US). Even though pre-orders do sell out quickly, we are getting really good restocks, and Nintendo even let me pre-order a unit just for being an NSO member without any other requirements this week.
Despite Nintendo's higher profit margin on the UK units, the £396 price point is very good for a dual-purpose machine. It's also cheaper than both the base PS5 and Series X consoles. I do expect the base console to go up to £430 or even £450 within the next year, though.
@Duncanballs Sadly, a lot of these hypercritical "game enthusiasts" spend a lot more time online than they do on video games. I am personally excited for the console after a rough 12 months.
If you have a NSO subscription, you can preorder the standard Switch 2 on the UK my Nintendo store. It's looking like the UK has excellent stock allocation.

Don't expect a release date for Silksong - I think MS will give that out at Gamescom as they have the gamepass deal.
As expected, a full showcase will be held in September.
