I see why there's a lot of mistrust in the trailer, but this is common for the series. The whole skyscraper fight with Riku and Roxas looked the same compared to this and that ended up just being a boss in a DS game, so maybe we should just take a step back here.
It'll still probably take 4 years to coms out anyway.
Honestly the only other addition I want is the Automatic drift brought back. While I drift manually, I always found automatic mode essential when introducing someone new to the series, so they can focus on driving and items. Drifting has always required more practice and isn't "pick up and play" like Mario Kart should be.
Obviously there are a few I would prefer be chosen earlier than others, but all of these here have had massive cultural impact and are worthy to be on this list, despite my personal opinions.
It's me from the future. The year is 2022, the eShop is closing, and I'm picking up a few fun knick knack games before the service closes. Thanks for the advice on the bundle 2015 Nintendolife!
I actually just picked up an OLED for the extended battery life and "younger" parts. My Switch didn't have any problems but I'm hoping this will make it last 5 years longer than it would have at some point in the future.
Now the old joycons have been drifting and require IPA every now and again.
This is a game I own on switch but is one of the few I would recommend owning on something that can stream well. It's great and easy to play with friends remotely in addition to people on the same couch. Most games are 6-8 players wity audience roles for any extras.
I really like this format of listing because it highlights some of the popular older titles. Like I haven't heard anyone mention Sakura Samurai in ages, and that's a good memory.
If we get one more thing of good DLC I think I'm in. Banjo is the N64 game I want to play that I don't already own. I'm not certain about purchasing the Animal Crossing DLC, but I like the idea of trying it "for free" if I'm getting the expansion for other reasons.
Having played all gens on release since 2 and onward, honestly, Sword and Shield were one of my favorites. I kept feeling like the story and pokemon were making larger and larger diversions to try and top themselves until they couldn't go any higher. I appreciated the simple story as I played the game on and off for a year (nothing to re-remember) and having lower pokemon numbers with more regional forms really made me latch on to some new ones I would have never considered in the original region. Ultimately, we as a games site are biased toward nitpicking every flaw in a game, but I haven't heard any SwSh complaints in real conversation, so I honestly think we're all a vocal minority.
Plus, them doing the wild area was clearly just practice for Arceus, and I'm glad they're experimenting with gameplay versus more hollow updates in stories, etc.
Clubhouse Games and Yoku's are games I recommend to everyone. They both have demos, so please do yourself a favor and try them out. Yoku is often on sale and an amazing concept for thise that enjoy pinball, but maybe not just going for a high score in a pinball sim. It's a whole grand adventure!
Can't wait to verse my terrible team of freshly caught level 5's against someone else doing the same just trying to speedily get the birds so we end up creating an actual pokemon battle.
I've been inches away from buying the expansion pass to grab these fellas and boy am I excited they look like the originals. I've really appreciated how the new regional forms breathe new life into old favorites by making them relevant again.
Popping in for my obligatory "Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics is a phenomenal game" comment. It's immensely fun in single player and online never has a long wait and will actively show you what others are playing so you can wait even less.
Having moved recently, I find there are less people around to play a lot of these types of games in person, so the quality with which these are made, really makes it feel worthwhile. It's shot up to one of my most played switch games, and has taught me how to play plenty of games I never cared to try before. Buy it!
You know, I couldn't care less about Mario Kart Tour but I appreciate how it's been supported over the years. I think between this and the Splatoon series, Nintendo realized how important it was to support games over time.
If I recall correctly, I think one of the goals was to be able to sell/trade digital games, which is the first legitimate use I've heard of NFTs not being an art scam. I'm curious, but will wait and see.
Still waiting for more to be added before I jump in, but these are games I would never blindly buy, but if I have them for free, I'm excited to try them out.
Could any Tesla owners chime in? Isn't the intent of games on the dash meant only for playtime during a lengthy recharging session, since charging isn't as quick as filling up on fuel?
Fair enough. This was the pinnacle of the series. I can't imagine anyone would want it to go higher and higher and lose quality. I think these duplicate platform fighters will fill the need of random character incluson going forward.
I'm waiting to pick this up on sale, but for a few bucks this could be a great time. I'm glad the people who argued "who would win on a fight" on the playground grew up to be game devs. We need answers to these age old questions!
It's nice to see these types of titles make a comeback and incorporate group play, but they definitely shine in solo touch screen. That being said, there will be someone who really benefits from these changes, so I'm glad the work is being done, even if it isn't to my personal tastes.
I was excited by this headline when I read it, but I guess that's controversial. I absolutely hate horror, but I love Bioshock/spooky atmospheres in media. This update is for me. People who love the idea, but hate the encounters. This Fatal Frame has been such a big part of media over the years (since it was a Wii U exclusive and always speculated to be ported to switch) that I've always wanted to try it but had this barrier blocking me. I may actually pick it up, and that's an exciting thought that I might enjoy it too.
Good. Even though I didn't purchase it since I still have the original, I'm glad that rereleases happen to give others who missed this gem a chance to play one of my favorite games. I'm still traumatized by accidentally realizing you can whip and kill the little butterflies. Misery loves company.
Actually kind of impressed with this list for the first time in awhile. I count 15 good ones. I've always held off on the series since the start, but if a friend picks it up, I'll play.
I suppose people will say that the Wii is still stronger because most families wouldn't consider buying multiple Wiis for a house, but it's still impressive since I hadn't imagined we would catch up to its record within a decade.
Plus, the Wii had multiple variants too, so it's not the best comparison to make.
Not Nintendo, but I really appreciated Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance. The flashy moves and frequent changes in height helped sell the world for me.
I actually like the pack. Sure, I'm waiting until Banjo and hopefully Wave Racer to come out, but for the price I pay to try some games, $30 more seems reasonable. As someone who never owned original hardware, I like the idea of trying new games and even some weird gems. Solomon's Key is one of my favorites in the NES pack, but I would never have given it the time of day otherwise.
Shoutout to the original Club Nintendo rewards. I'm still actively using the DS/3DS cases years later since they hold 18 games each. Best money I never spent.
Still on the Smash Bros kick with Sora, and I ended up picking up Melody of Memory for Switch. The demo didn't click with me at first, but something about changing the timing settings rewired my brain to the correct beat of the song and now I just can't stop.
Personal shoutout to the openness of that Disney exec, especially after they went out of the video games industry famously a few years ago. Now we wait to see how Nomura tries to make this canon to the Kingdom Hearts storyline.
This was the final fighter I needed that actually made the reveals feel big to me. I was excited to encounter new fighters and new IP, but seeing something so improbable happen was truly memorable.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's $49.99 total, right? For online, (the majority of actually good) NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, and free AC content, that feel pretty solid. I'd rather it be free, but since I was about to drop $20 on Wii U N64 games, this is already a win.

Earthbound hits hard because I'm still in Twoson after four years of forgetting to play it on Wii U.

I kind of expected that to be the case. From the video, they're basically saying The Wild Area is now a full game and that works with me.

Re: Feature: 31 Best DSiWare Games You Should Get Before They're Gone Forever
If you're interested in Electroplankton, they are $2 apiece. So that's $20 for all of them or you'd be paying triple for a DS cart of it.
They changed some names, but if you're just picking a few, I recommend:
Re: Feature: 31 Best DSiWare Games You Should Get Before They're Gone Forever
Shameless plug for Pop Island (a capture the flag like game with multiplayer and pretty good AI).
I also recommend Art Style: Precipice as a fun addition to the series.
