Once upon a time, I was among those that felt the need to have every game downloaded at all times. These days, I simply uninstall everything that I'm not planning to play any time soon, and I'm happier for it. A 256gb SD card, along with the internal storage are enough for the handful of games you might be playing at any given time, and buy physical on the cart when availble. The new Samsung P9 cards are on sale on Amazon right now, $48 & $75 for 256gb & 512gb respectively.
Now I see... They didn't want to release 2 of what is basically the same game, so MKW got the wide, straight, boring tracks with slow karts, and Air Riders got the speed, and the tight, twisty tracks, aka all of the fun.
I wish I could say I never hit the home or capture buttons by mistake, but I'd be lying. It does seems to be less of an issue for me with Switch 2 Pro Controller, because the -/+ buttons sit higher and there's more of a tactile difference now VS the Switch 1 pro controller.
I can see it being an issue on this Hori gamepad. The home/capture buttons all appear to be the same size and height, so I'd expect I'd have issues with it.
I sold my copy of 3D All Stars for $100 to finance the Galaxy 1+2 physical. I like SM64, but there are other, better ways to play it in the unlikely event that I want to replay it one day. Mario Sunshine is hot garbage. Galaxy is my absolute favorite Mario game to date. I never did get around to playing Galaxy 2, so I'm definately looking forward to that. Games run great and look gorgeous. The gyro controls work well enough. If I had to have a complaint, it's that I'd prefer to play with the pro controller, but instead have to use detached joycons because of the motion controls. The gyro controls work on the pro controller, they're just unnatural.
I bought the physical switch 2 version to conserve space on the console, since the microsd express cards are still fairly pricey. Here comes the latest update and brings the total game data stored on my system to over 12gb. The digital version is 18gb, according to the eshop product page. Rather than make an effort to create some efficient updates, the developer has opted to simply replace 2/3 of the game data, pushing a large install on us, despite advertising physical all on the cart. Get the eff outta here with that, this ain't PC.
Yes I know, I can turn off auto updates and simply not update, but the devs can make an effort to minimize update data as well.
I was really hoping they'd add a way to buy soil, or the materials to craft it. You need massive quantities of it to create farming tiles, and the slow drip-feed of resources needed for this is really bringin down the post game for me.
I feel like this is going to be another Forgotten Land situation. What should be free resolution upgrade will be bundled with and locked behind the DLC paywall.
Here's to hoping for a resolution update for the Switch 2. Like every other S1 game, that 720p in handheld mode looks rough on the S2 screen, and this game is very much suited for handheld play. I wouldn't say no to 2160p support for docked mode either, but my TV does a good job upscaling so not a necessity
"Seeing that game running at a stable 30fps, with that excellent motion blur especially, it looked fantastic."
In the 1/2 second of actual gameplay I saw in the video, that motion blur looked aweful as it always does. I plan to play the FF7 remakes on PC so I can turn that trash off.
Just finally got around to playing this. I realy liked the art style, and I was digging the horror/puzzle vibes from the girl all alone, exploring a mysterious island. Then they threw in the supernatural element with the silly ghost sidekick and ruined the whole thing for me.
This is what the people want. Not the price increases, but upgrades under the hood. Anything else will be a disappointment. I'll shell over $400 if it means another 6+ years of life on the Switch, as long as the screen technology doesn't go backwards, OLED or bust.
Hyrule Historia has nothing to do with knowledge of OoT and shouldn't be a question here. It didn't exist until 15 years after OoT released. As such, a lot of people that played it as a child wouldn't have any of the knowledge that it tried to shove down our throats. Even today, I don't have any of that knowledge because I rejected it outright as steaming hot garbage.
Calling this live action is a bit of a stretch. I have no doubt it will be 95% CGI and the only real things on screen will be the actors, maybe. Honestly, I'd prefer an entirely animated movie, styled along the lines of BOTW and TOTK. This is one Nintendo's flagship franchises, so I doubt it will suck. Like the Mario movie, I predict it will be mediocre but make bookoos of money.
If all other hardware specs are the same, I'd go digital only. I'm not a collector, I don't need to keep the games 50+ years. As a PC gamer, I've long since grown accustomed to digital only. Most of my current switch games are eshop purchases. It's convenient to have all games with you on a portable system and not have to swap them out. I'd take the extra $50, buy a large micro sd. It helps that Switch games are so darn small. I think my biggest Switch game isn't even 30gb, and the average size is far smaller. Also, the less plastic junk cluttering up my house, the better.
The switch hybrid home/handheld concept is a practical, winning formula. A continuation of that, upgraded under the hood, fully backwards compatible with increased performance on current gen games, and a continuation of the switch online retro games catalog is what people want.
Wiping out 7 years of success, and starting over yet again with a completely new disc/cartridge design, and some gimmicky interface/controls is a recipe for disaster IMO. Give me TV mode with a pro controller, and handheld mode. Removable joycons, touchscreen and motion controls not required or desired. Also, just one screen please.
Why does it even matter where in the timeline they fit? Approach every Zelda game as standalone and be happier for it. The Hyrule Historia timeline is just silly.
I have fond memories of my N64 as a kid. Recently, I was finally able to snag one of the NSO N64 controllers from Nintendo. I sold it less than a week after it arrived. Absolutely terrible unergonomic design, not designed for adult hands. I ended up buying the Retro Fighters Brawler 64 bluetooth controller to play NSO. 1000x better.
Here's to hoping it drops soon. I'm not usually one to revisit a game for expansions, unless not much time has passed since I completed it and it's still somewhat fresh on the mind. I'm enjoying the heck out of the base game right now though. It looks good on my monitor, but is gorgeous on the OLED handheld.
I'm glad it's doing well, I'm certainly enjoying my time with it. It's a chill little rpg, beautiful pixel art and good music. I'm particularly fond of story time with Teaks.
I'm really pumped seeing all the positive reviews. I've been awaiting this one eagerly for a while, and it's a relief to hear that it doesn't disappoint. Sadly, I've been at work all day so haven't had an opportunity to get down and dirty with it, other than a very brief bathroom session this morning.
People inclined to pirate games were never going to buy them in the first place. The only impact on sales, if any, will be negative, if the Switch Denuvo implementation has as bad of performance hit as it's PC reputation would have you believe.
I bought this day 1 and put about 100 hrs into it. I was pretty burned out on it after finishing the story. I don't recall encountering any glitches during my play through. I may revisit it later after some DLC comes out.
I hope the stability extends to my left joycon. I have to remove, reset, and reattach the thing every other day or so for it to be recognized in handheld.
