This "every legendary" thing is the epitome of this need they feel to make all species available, and as the Dex continues to grow I think that's really starting to hurt gameplay...
Ehh... I can't help but feel that, given the selection we already have, Blackbelly isn't really adding much to the game. Like, there's nothing all that special about it.
Wonder if the relatively realistic New Donk City has anything to do with it. That might seem silly, but I wouldn't be surprised if it affected someone's judgment.
What do cutscenes have to do with save file size? I'm not too familiar with NBA 2K18 but I struggle to imagine how a sports game, even a badly optimised one, could possibly need so much space. Although it seems to be a thing with the genre.
Legitimately cool concept that could work really well if they get the balancing right. Hopefully, if it does turn out good, it will manage to get a decent-sized playerbase.
That's one way to make your game stand out, I guess. The style reminds me just a smidge of Little Big Adventure, which sets off the nostalgia for me. It otherwise looks like fairly standard adventure stuff, but it could certainly turn out well.
@Maxz There's a link on the front page of the web version (I think they only added it after this article was posted). You won't actually get your stuff until after the shutdown though.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE These games have translations already. And it's not like there isn't a market here. We had Warriors Orochi 3 on Wii U, plus Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors will have boosted Nintendo fans' interest in the franchise.
Having HHD unlocks a Nook's Homes model and the giant furniture items from the Happy Home Network contest. It doesn't transfer your inventory and isn't required for the touchscreen controls, which are just unlocked by building the secret storeroom.
@ericflapjack This is a common complaint, but it's just missing the point if you ask me. The game offers no challenge because that's not what it's about at all. Rather, it's a creative outlet. You don't ask Photoshop to rate the picture you made. You show it to other people and see what they think of it. That's the real challenge, if you want one: making things that people like, rather than being judged by an algorithm.
It's understandable for a hardcore gamer to think of Animal Crossing as "niche", but last I checked, New Leaf was the best-selling 3DS game that didn't have "Mario" or "Pokémon" in the title. It's clearly a major system-seller too, given the amount of people who seem to play nothing else.
Anyway, I got HHD at launch and still play it. It gets some hate sometimes, but it really is super fun if approached with the right mindset.
Mentioning Castlevania, Indiana Jones and Genesis all at once makes me think of Earnest Evans, a game that wanted to be like both of those franchises. It's mostly known for its hilariously dumb physics. Factor 5 could've done better, needless to say, and I guess they almost did so twice.
@NEStalgia "Nobody reads Miiverse posts" is one of my least favourite falsehoods. People certainly do read my posts (note the present tense). Meanwhile, nobody is reading my tweets, because people don't seem to watch hashtags the way they watch Miiverse communities...
People are jumping the gun here, I reckon. This update could just be future-proofing. And let's not forget that the decidedly not-abandoned 3DS has Miiverse as well. Miiverse's days are numbered, that much is clear, but I think it's a decently high number yet.
Okay, I just wanna point something out for those less familiar with competitive Melee. That sword combo at 0:44 in the video? Classic Marth manoeuvre. They call it the Ken Combo. That character in particular is a very obvious clone.
In general, I think it's good for creators of fan games to move on to using their own IP, so they can make a profit and not live in fear of legal trouble. Freedom Planet is a good example. This, however, does appear at first glance to be aping Smash too closely for its own good. You do need to inject some degree of originality. I expect the Project M fans will just continue to play Project M.
Having played the demo I agree it seems pretty bland. I mean, it's competent and I'm sure some people will enjoy it, but I don't think it's really worth an experienced gamer's time. If the later levels are more interesting, cool, but it shouldn't take half the game to reach that point.
@Nintendoer I blame them for not having confidence after amiibo and the NES Classic. They've been pretty consistently underestimating demand for a while now.
@Roam85 Except this is a multiplayer game where one player is meant to have a screen the others can't see, like in Nintendo Land. I think the only way it could work as intended is by using two Switches.
The important point here, really, is that Nintendo come up with the gameplay first, then decide on the setting. They don't just make up new IPs for the sake of it, which is what people sometimes seem to be asking of them. Still, it's important that they're able to resist the urge to just put Mario in everything, and they have improved in that regard.
@VENOMVSCARNAGE By "unskilled" I'm thinking of like, my mum. Someone you'd hardly trust to hold a controller. It's nice to find something you can actually play with people who don't really game.
It may not be terribly exciting, but it would be nice for more games to have stuff like this. It's a good way for an unskilled friend or relative to participate.
If you've played Super Bomberman R before and after the patch, you know you want 60fps for a multiplayer action game. Of course, it would be good if they could achieve 1080p as well, but I guess that's not easy.
It does sound a bit like Mario: Breath of the Wild, doesn't it? But it's a logical evolution of the 64/Sunshine template, so it makes sense. Nintendo are being pretty adventurous with these games and it's really paying off. I'm personally a bit intimidated about more overly huge environments though. I'm still very far from finishing BotW.
Red and blue Joy-Cons instead of pink and green? Odd.
I like game-themed gear that doesn't shout about its origins, and the Nintendo UK store has had some rather nice stuff on that front. I might pick up a shirt or two here.
You listed three Animal Crossing characters and none of them are Isabelle? C'mon, she's the obvious choice if you're paying attention. Tom Nook doesn't have a zillion badges in Nintendo Badge Arcade, y'know?
@Brutchie-bear They look more like Rosalina and Luma, really. And Twintelle has hints of Bayonetta to her... these might be the characters people will hate you for playing...
Me, I'm currently thinking of playing Mechanica or Ribbon Girl.

Re: Action-RPG Blossom Tales Is Set to Bloom on Switch eShop This Winter
The sheer level of Zelda is arguably excessive, but this looks pretty darn solid. I'll be looking out for it.
Re: Metal Gear Solid Parody Never Stop Sneakin' Is, Erm, Sneakin' To Switch Soon
Oh man, I love the unabashedly stupid plot. Reminds me of Dr. McNinja, actually.
Re: ARMS Version 3.1.0 Is Now Available
The only thing worse than the lack of love for ARMS is the fact that it's impossible to talk about the game without it coming up.
@masterLEON Yeah that one smarts. Phoenix is my favourite.

@liveswired I'm talking about save files. That's not where you put your textures.

@justin233 The uncanny valley, as they call it. Always a hazard of going for realism.

Re: The Plug Will Finally Be Pulled On Miiverse In November
Oh man, it's really happening this time. I didn't think it would be so soon. At least they're allowing us to download all our stuff.
There's no true substitute for Miiverse. I will miss it greatly.

Cripes, there are medals for collecting all the rings? That's a bit nasty, since you have to ensure the last sphere you get doesn't produce any.

Most cheerful zombie apocalypse game I've ever seen.

We're really only now getting Spectre of Torment on 3DS? I figured it had come out at some point and I'd just missed it.
Re: E3 is Coming, Which Means Anonymous Super Smash Bros. Switch 'Screenshots'
