Re: Talking Point: Which Is Your Favourite 3DS Theme?

Zeropulse

Whats funny is two of my favorite 3ds themes made it to this list. Top three in no particular order are:
Megaman stage select (I reordered my aps so I can see megaman in the middle)
Sega Genesis: has the awesome Sega CD theme that slaps
Toy Story: Simple theme but with a really beautiful jazz piano version of you've got a friend in me.

Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo Console Has The Best First-Party Games Lineup?

Zeropulse

For me I'm going with 3DS.
Streetpass MiiPlaza is one of my favorite experiences on a console ever. playing the games and collecting the puzzles with my fellow 3ds players on the street was so fun.

The zelda games: link between worlds, oot and majoras mask remakes
Mario 3dland, mario maker, portable smash bros., mario kart 7, the luigi's mansion dark moon. So many great first party experiences.

Re: The Best Endings In Games On Nintendo Switch

Zeropulse

Wow, amazing article and don't know how I missed that you were leaving @kategray but I am sad to see you go. Good luck on all future endeavors and thank you for being my favorite writer online, almost said favorite writer but can't lie that goes to Ray Bradbury.

Favorite endings:
Megaman 3: First game ending I can remember with that awesome protoman theme playing. Great even to this day.
Metal Gear Solid (so serene snow mobileing away after all that insanity)
Max Payne 2 good ending (didn't even know it existed just beat it on the hardest mode and was pleasantly surprised by the twist).
Super Mario World: still makes me happy to this day. amazing music, seeing every character in the game and the final the end picture was so cool at that time.

Re: Nintendo, Sony And Xbox Reportedly Skipping E3 2023

Zeropulse

This really stinks. I knew it was a long shot but was hoping at least Microsoft and Nintendo would be there. The joy and energy of a good E3 was palpable and could be felt while watching live.

Still never forget the year Nintendo held their Nintendo World Championship finals right before E3. So much fun.

Re: Feature: The 15 Best Zelda Bosses, Ranked

Zeropulse

"like some sort of avant-garde staging of Waiting for Godot where all the dialogue is replaced by HYA HUH HEEEEYAH " I don't know which of the three writers wrote that but well done. Had me on the floor. Also a phenomenal list (minus tentalus) Love Koloktos at the top. Very deserved.

Re: Simon Pegg Is Heading Back To School As Hogwarts Legacy's Headmaster

Zeropulse

Oh man, Hogwarts legacy is the game I keep forgetting exists and when I see a news article for it I get pretty dang excited all over again.

Cannot wait for this to come out and hoping it is a great time. Weirdly enough my favorite Harry Potter game is still the first one on the PS1. Really love the pre-film art style of Mary GrandPré.

Re: Talking Point: What Game Do You Replay Every Year?

Zeropulse

I beat Pokemon Snap at least once a year. Its a very get me to a zen place game.

Same with Megaman X4, I have played it so many times I can beat it in under 2 hours and when I just want to kill time and don't feel like doing anything else (practicing music or any other game) I just beat X4

Metal Gear Solid, I beat that once a winter. I go back and forth between original and twin snakes.

Re: Soapbox: Paper Mario: Sticker Star Was When The Series Came Unstuck

Zeropulse

I played through sticker star and had a wonderful time. I will say I have a glaring 3DS bias as I was such a huge fan of that system.

It has been a while, but I believe I stopped buying stickers and just had my key weapon locations memorized so if I knew I were going into a big battle I would take 5 minutes hop around the map and grab those weapons.

Though I would have preferred N64 style combat I still had a blast with the game and its overworld map was perfect for hits handheld style gameplay.

Re: Poll: Is The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Good Enough Value Yet?

Zeropulse

@Fizza Similar experience but I have been able to play some but many I never had (family only had about 10 N64 games growing up). So having the opportunity to play pokemon puzzle league, kirby, winback, and of course go back and re-enjoy the zelda and mario games. So much fun.

Haven't played yet but also super pumped to play pilot wings.

Re: Review: Tunic - Old-School Adventuring With Nods To Zelda, Unforgiving And Ingenious

Zeropulse

@Guitario Agreed, this is one of my favorite games of 2022 (perhaps my favorite).

My only gripe/piece of advice to all those picking it up, do not put the game down for to long. I got what I think is pretty far (hard to tell with this game) and put it down and when I picked it back up I was quite lost. Now I am debating do I start over and re experience it with the knowledge of what I have retained or do I go on a quest to try and rediscover what I forgot.

Re: Rumour: Avatar: The Last Airbender RPG Has Zelda: Breath Of The Wild-Style Visuals

Zeropulse

@Yosher Same. Going to remain cautiously optimistic. I'm amazed there still hasn't been a good avatar adventure game yet. The character is so well designed to "learn" new moves as you go that it could really work as a zelda/metroid prime esque game where new abillities unlock new areas. Just need to do some prior avatar so that they could do what they want with the story.

Re: Talking Point: What Was Your First Legend Of Zelda Game?

Zeropulse

So, I am not that old, but i am the youngin in the family. So thanks to my older siblings and mom being really into zelda my memory begins and we already had zelda 1 & 2 and played them a ton. I do have some distant fog memories of buying a Link to the Past and Link's awakening. For both link to the past and OoT I recall my entire family gathering around the TV to watch it be played.

A Family united by the need to banish evil and ridding this world of Ganon.

Re: Talking Point: How Were You Introduced To Metroid?

Zeropulse

Got Metroid 2, return of samus for my 4th or 5th birthday from my older brothers (I realized later they just got it for themselves since I could never understand it) but I did play the heck out of that game and have played them all ever since. Prime and Fusion were the first that I played on my own with no sibling help and what great memory all those metroid games were.

Re: Talking Point: What's The Highlight Of Your Game Collection?

Zeropulse

Being a bit of a Video Game Hoarder all my life (some may say collector but I think it is beyond that), I have some incredibly old&rare games that I cherish, Ti-99 games and console, decently extensive library of snes and nes games (including boxes and manuals, but there is one thing that tops them all for me.

I have almost every Nintendo of America club nintendo reward including all club nintendo posters (to include any my nintendo posters) in pristine condition in a Folio case. Every once in a while I pull them all off and take a look and then put them away.

Re: Watch: This 90-Minute Deep Dive Into Two Of The Most Underrated Zeldas Is Well Worth The Time

Zeropulse

@CharlieGirl You perfectly nailed the two things that frustrated me most about both games. That darn Ocean King Dungeon (which was also the reason why my mother couldn't play the game cause she is bad with time trails so stunk for that as well) and I don't think I have ever been more frustrated by something that looks so simple as attempting to play that darn Pan flute.

That being said other than PH being a little lite on content I personally love both games.

Re: Video: What Was Your First Video Game Ever?

Zeropulse

@dcstud I was too little to program on it when we had it (still do have it stored away somewhere) but I do remember the books and my parents programming games using them. Nothing like having to transcribe the game you are playing.

Also learned a lot on the Socrates. My mom found it and all the educational games for it in a 90% off bin. Though is perhaps the most obscure console of all.

Re: Video: What Was Your First Video Game Ever?

Zeropulse

Above 30 but being the youngest in a family of gamer's it is hard for me to remember since they were always around. But I would guess it would be one of the TI-99 games (we had that before getting a NES and the Mario/duckhunt/world class track meet.

Hunt the Wumpus, Missile command, facemaker and Alpiner are the earliest games I can remember.
