Re: Nintendo Seems To Be Deleting Super Mario Maker Levels Without Explanation Or Warning

ZBomber

Nintendo removed one of my stages about a month ago and I'm furious about it. I thought it was just a glitch, I didn't realize this was a global (and intentional) issue. I paid 60 dollars for the game and you're telling me they just dont have enough server space to host it? There were no glitches involved in my level, and it honestly wasn't even that difficult. No notification, not online for even 6 months and it gets removed?

Nintendo makes a game that encourages people to be creative, and then they just decide to prevent other people from playing that person's work? Ridiculous. I've been a loyal Nintendo fan since the early 90s, but a lot of their policies and decisions lately me have me questioning if they are really a company I want to continue to support.

Re: Feature: The Twilight Princess HD Fan Project That's Taking On Nintendo At Its Own Game

ZBomber

@PlywoodStick I could see it increasing sales of the original, but I'm not entirely convinced it would help sales of the HD version. I guess it's all gonna come down to what the HD release offers that the fan made and original versions don't. Worthwhile amiibo support? Revamped game mechanics? Gamepad support? If it isn't much more than a HD retexturing, People like myself that are big Zelda fans will buy the Nintendo HD release even if its inferior to the fan made one, but I can't see casual Nintendo fans wanting to dish out for the HD disc after playing the fan made one if it does everything it's promising to.

Re: Feature: The Twilight Princess HD Fan Project That's Taking On Nintendo At Its Own Game

@liveswired For something like Project M, sure I would agree with you that it doesn't really take away from sales. But this fan version is arguably going to be a better HD remake of the game. Do you really think they aren't going to lose ANY sales from a (most likely superior) free fan-made HD upgrade of the same game Nintendo will be charging $40+ for, especially when it's getting coverage on gaming/Nintendo fan sites and becoming more accessible to the masses?

For the record, I am not against the fan HD remake, and I think Nintendo should be more open minded with things like this. But the fact is they aren't, and they certainly are not going to be ok with fans releasing basically a better version of something they are going to be charging people for. Obviously the game will still sell with or without the fan made version, but even if only a couple hundred people download the mod instead of buying the game, it's lost revenue for Nintendo.

Re: Feature: The Twilight Princess HD Fan Project That's Taking On Nintendo At Its Own Game

@Tubalcain There actually has been a lot of drama surrounding Project M. It's widely believed Nintendo has used some kind of legal pressure to prevent that game from being streamed. Even if they couldn't win a case based on any laws, they could certainly strong arm someone into stopping. People aren't going to have the time or money to fight off a big company like Nintendo.

They certainly are not ok with types of mods like this, because the only way to mod TP is 1. to hack your wii/gamecube or 2.to play it on an emulator, both of which Nintendo does not want their customers doing. Not to mention that something like this could take away from sales of THEIR Twilight Princess HD. You compare it to Skyrim, but it's very different because Bethesda actually encourages the community to mod their games (probably because they ship broken...)

When has Nintendo ever encouraged people to modify their games? They are very protective of their IP and shoot down so many fan-made games.

Re: Feature: How Mario Kart Brought Two Soul Mates Together

ZBomber

@manu0 You're making this out to be bigger than it is. The message he sent was completely harmless and wasn't coming on to her in any way. He basically said "hey we used to play a lot together, it was nice to run into you again!". It doesn't matter what her age or gender was, that is about as friendly and harmless as you can be. The story took a romantic spin later, but after they learned more about each other. But as the author said, he didn't know if the person was even a female, there wasn't any reason to suspect he would have tried to harm children.

Your original post complained he didn't ask her age in the first message, but to be perfectly honest that comes across way creepier. I wouldn't answer a stranger that starts out a conversation asking for such personal info like that. That sounds more predatory than anything else.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (3DS)

ZBomber

@Minotaurgamer Mario Party as a series? Absolutely. Mario Party 10? No way. That is easily one of the worst Nintendo games I have ever played. After 30 minutes of it my friends and I vowed to never play it again. I can't see any way this game is worse than MP10 unless you're trying to play it on single player (which defeats the purpose of the game to begin with)

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (3DS)

ZBomber

This site is usually very liberal with giving Nintendo games high ratings. so it surprises me when I see a game like Mario Party 10 get a higher rating than Triforce Heroes... there is no way that Mario Party 10 is a better multiplayer experience than local three person Triforce Heroes.

I get taking away points for the online/single player portion, but it seems clear to me this game was made to be played locally. I personally have game nights with two of my friends every week so I can't wait for it to release. It sucks for people that have to rely on playing with strangers/can't use other voice chat programs, but I think the actual gameplay is above a 6.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Competitive Scene Gets Shaken Up as ZeRo is Finally Defeated

ZBomber

@EmmatheBest I feel the same, trying to refrain from replying to the people that clearly no NOTHING about the competitive Smash scene and are just acting like jerks. I don't really watch competitive games, but Smash is the exception to that. Melee is an amazingly technical game, and Sm4sh (especially the top 8 this tourney) was fun to watch because everyone was gunning for Zero's title. I don't think people realize how much skill goes into games like Smash and the insane precision, knowledge, and mind games that go on.

Re: Retrospective: The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap - A Decade On

ZBomber

Though I am a huge Zelda fan, I never played this game until last year when I bought it on virtual console. I had a lot of fun playing it, and some parts were very challenging, but the trophy collecting aspect... man, I don't know how people could complete that, it takes forever! I try to 100% complete all Zelda games, but I had to put that one down after awhile for the last dozen or so collectibles. One day, one day....

Re: Review: Meme Run (Wii U eShop)

ZBomber

Probably the worst game to come out this year. I'm sure the creator is probably a 16 year old in high school (or at least has the mentality of one), but one day when he grows up he is going to have to live with the fact that at one point in his life he thought he was really cool and funny for making this game. Hopefully, he'll have matured to the point where he just feels ashamed and embarrassed whenever he thinks back on it.

Re: Rumour: Toys "R" Us Cancelling amiibo Orders, Including Exclusive Lucario Figure

ZBomber

I had 7 amiibos cancelled by TRU this morning. The worst part? I had all of them (except Lucario obviously) pre-ordered at Amazon, but cancelled it because of the BOGO 40% off deal. And from what I hear, they basically cancelled all the orders so they didn't have to honor it.

Spent the rest of today frantically trying to track down the 7 I need. Had to import Falcon and Pit, and did the same with Rosalina and Lucario. I'm not dealing with these stupid retailer exclusives anymore, and I'm not giving them my money if they are going to be shady.

Re: Professional Super Smash Bros. Melee Player Talks Smash 4

ZBomber

@AlmightyDerek Why do they annoy you? They take a fun game and put a competitive spin on it. Never understood why people hate on the professional players, the game has ALWAYS been very accessible to everyone even when there was a deeper meta game like in Melee. They aren't affecting you or your enjoyment of the game.

I like the new edge mechanics at any rate, I think it is much more entertaining/rewarding when someone goes off the ledge to try and spike someone. Never was a fan of ledge hogging in the older games, but I do love watching the pros play.

Re: Rosalina & Luma amiibo Exclusive to Target in US, as More Peculiar Defects Are Shown Off Online

ZBomber

@rolzup Nope, it was always 2015. It's coming out at the same time as the other retail exclusives (Lucario, Meta Knight, etc) in the third wave. The second wave (Luigi, Pit, Zelda, Little Mac, Falcon), which just came out yesterday, was announced and available for preorder a long time ago. Target only just officially announced that they will be the retailer to carry Rosalina yesterday, so that is probably why people are going to the store and asking for it. It is more of an issue on Target's part than Nintendo's, since it doesn't actually have a release date on their website (along with the other 2015 wave 3 figures). Pre-orders haven't gone up for this yet, so you nor anyone else has missed out on it.

Re: Rumour: Villager, Marth & Wii Fit Trainer amiibo Discontinued

ZBomber

I've ordered every single one released/announced so far, but I think it is pretty dumb to discontinue them so soon if this is true. Some people won't have enough money to get them now, and people are going to be looking to get amiibos after the holidays when they DO have the funds.

They should have at least waited until the third wave came out early next year before discontinuing them imo.

Re: Amazon UK Is Cancelling GameCube Adapter Orders Due To Lack Of Stock

ZBomber

This is ridiculous. I ordered mine from Gamestop (I'm in the US) a month before it came out. Went to the midnight release and was told they didn't have any of the adapters. Luckily, the cashier let me exchange my order for the last game/adapter bundle they had, so I do have one, but Nintendo should know better. If you can't even fulfill preorders for an item, why even bother taking preorders to begin with? The adapter was met with a lot of fanfare when it was announced, why they would think only a couple people would buy it worldwide is beyond me.

Re: Details Uncovered of Upcoming Update for Zelda Spin-Off Hyrule Warriors

ZBomber

I have to be honest that I regret blindly buying the season pass before even playing the game. I had a lot of fun with it for the first 20 hours or so, playing through the legendary mode and then some of the adventure maps. But at this point, I am so tired of the game. It is so repetitive and some parts just way too difficult unless you grind for a long time to get a high enough level character (and that takes forever, especially since some modes require a certain character). While I appreciate the company putting so much content into the base game and the DLC, I'm never even going to come close to completing everything in the base game. I have no reason to even try and play through the DLC... especially now that Smash U is out.

Re: Two Pokémon Game Boy Color Titles Dated For North American 3DS eShop

ZBomber

@rjejr Yeah, the game that will go on sale on the eshop next month isn't related to the Pokemon TCG programs released on PC and Apple products.(The article is kind of confusing, they really should add GBC in there). The GBC game uses the first 3 sets of Pokemon cards (Base Set, Jungle, and Fossil; basically the first 151 pokemon) where the new one uses the modern day TCG, which has over 700 Pokemon and I'm guessing different rules/cards/strategies. I haven't played FF8 yet so I'm not sure how similar it is to that, but I would definitely recommend checking out videos of it on Youtube before buying it. Honestly it is a bit dated at this point, but I imagine if you or your kids are big Pokemon fans, especially of the original generation, they might get some enjoyment out of it. The big draw of the GBC game is the story mode, where you build your own deck(s) and use it to beat gym leaders. But again, the game originally came out in 1998 in Japan so it is pretty limited in terms of what content is in it. The free TCG doesn't have a story mode as far as I know, but the content is a lot more extensive and (I think) you can battle friends, which I don't believe you'll be able to do with the GBC version.
Here is a random video of the game just to get an idea http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktwdl_UmqbY

Re: Two Pokémon Game Boy Color Titles Dated For North American 3DS eShop

ZBomber

@rjejr Pokemon Trading Card game on the GBC was a lot different from the TCG app they're offering now. You controlled a character that went around to each "gym" challenging people, collecting cards and decks and badges. The GBC version was like an actual video game based around the trading card game, while the one Nintendo offers now is basically a simulator of the actual trading card game. People that didn't play the game back in the day should probably pass, as (I imagine) the TCG has changed much since 1998. However, for people like myself who grew up with the original series and this game, its a nice throwback. I'm not interested in learning the new TCG but I still have great memories of the original version, so I will definitely pick it up when it comes on the eShop.

That said, I agree the $5.99 price point is way too expensive.

Re: Ocarina of Time gets a 2D Makeover

ZBomber

Anyone remember when a team tried to do something similar to this about 10 years ago? They released a demo build, it was cool but never materialized into anything. Teams that do things like this need to remain SILENT until they actually finish it. Announcing it now will just result in Nintendo shutting it down and it never taking off.
