While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has taken up the majority of Nintendo's Treehouse Live time in its first day, the second day holds looks at a wider variety of games. One of the titles up for a look, Paper Mario: Color Splash, has been given a release date as well.
According to a North American press release from Nintendo, Color Splash is currently expected to bring some flair to store shelves on 7th October. Nintendo Treehouse: Live will be featuring the game sometime during the second day of their stream; we can get a better idea if the game appeals to our personal palettes then.
We'll be covering the stream live, as always, and it'll be interesting to see how this one is shaping up.

Hopefully, the coverage will change my opinion on this one.
Yeah! Even better then Zelda!
Yay! Hope it does well!
Okay...Color Splash...I know you've dissapointed me already, but I am willing to give you a second chance to impress me...don't blow it.
well seems we are getting to see a lot of games tomorrow
I haven't lost all hope on this game yet. It'll be nice to see some game play; I hope it won't be too disappointing!
We'll see if this proves to make a splash or be trash.
one of the most games I'm waiting for !!
I hope this one has a real and meaty story, like TYD.
The aesthetic is pretty sweet - I will need to see more before I put my money down on it, but I'm optimistic!
Hope the coverage makes the game look good. Nintendo could surprise us and reveal some great things about the game, but I doubt it.
Second day coverage is 1 PM EST, right? 10 AM PDT? Thankfully I'll have a day off work
Still looking forward to this
I can't wait to see more about this game. My kids and I loved Sticker Star but I hope this one is better than it.
Very eager to know more about this one. I don't really care about it not being a "true Paper Mario" game, I just want it to be good.
Highlight of my day. Me and my dates.
I assumed this would be the Wii U Christmas game. Why wouldn't it be the Christmas game?
Unless....
Maybe we'll see the rumored MK8 DLC as well. That'd be the highlight of this E3 for me. Every single other conference except for Zelda was disappointing imo.
This is good, I really wanna have a good look at this game. Hoping for an actual reason to battle (as there's no exp) and a good story.
Hope they flesh this out a lot more. Looks a bit of a confined experience atm.
yes, can't wait! will be pre-ordering it as soon as possible
I don't know why people are hating on this game already, we've only seen a tiny glimpse of the game so far, not nearly enough to pass the judgement people are having on this game
So summer is dead and Mario Color Splash fills the gap until Zelda next year?!? Oh my....
Good. Then there's still hope for this E3 not being a disappointment, in my opinion (though I am looking forward to Breath of the Wild and Sun and Moon).
I'm a huge fan of the Paper Mario series who personally enjoyed Sticker Star (but not as much as the first two games), but for whatever footage or info Nintendo is throwing out at us, I'm only expecting one thing out of this game: Enjoyment. This game obviously won't be TTYD 2 like the fans wanted (and I'm with them; I want the series to go back to how it was that made it amazing), but hopefully IS caught a whiff of the criticism surrounding SS and at least make improvements to Color Splash's core gameplay.
Hopefully it'll be exciting otherwise this may be the first Paper Mario game I would skipped.
I was honestly never turned off by this game. I'll bet they will be trying their hardest to make this a fantastic entry. Even if it doesn't live up to TTYD, it can still be a fun game.
Interested in seeing whether this looks worthwhile.
Nice! I know what I'm getting for my birthday!
20 bucks says the game still looks like hot garbage tomorrow
Well I've never played a paper Mario game before so I'll consider this. The visuals do look really interesting to be fair, but I'm not sold on what I've seen gameplay wise!
If this is for October then they must have at least 1 other title planned for the holidays?Surely they can't go through Xmas with nothing?
Neat, I've been anticipating this game for a while. Roll on tomorrow!
The Thousand-year Door was one of the best GameCube titles, but what has happened to Paper Mario since then and will Colour Splash be better than mediocre Sticker Star?
I want to be excited, I really do. But for now I can only sit tight til the game actually comes out and I start hearing others' opinions. I'm certainly not getting this day 1.
@DBPirate That's the main thing that I care about- MK8 DLC. Nintendo is cruel if they don't deliver on this. I actually do like party games, so the new 3ds Mario Party looks like it might be intriguing.
I hope it's a good game and not just a cheap, lazy game to fill a gaping hole in the release schedule like they did last year with Mario Tennis: Ultra Trash and Animal Crossing: SCamiibo Festival.
One more chance. Don't screw this up.
Wait I won't be watching E3! Eh I'll figure something out.
YES! Always room for a paper mario
Better than Zelda! I still hope they changed the gameplay since the last disappointing footage from the latest nintendo direct to look more like the first 2 games!
Gross
Meh. From what we've seen so far, best case scenario is it's Sticker Star with less annoying gameplay, which still isn't a Paper Mario game.
Looks decent enough.
With the Wii U in its final 9 month stretch, any games are appreciated.
Day one for me!
I'll give this game a second chance to draw me in. I hope they don't mess this one up.
Still though, good game or not the legacy of sticker star will still leave a sour taste in my throat.
@A01 6 games,
1) Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
2) Monster Hunter Generation
3) Dragon Quest VII
4) Paper Mario (Surprise Treehouse demo)
5) Mario Party (New reveal and Treehouse demo)
6) Pokemon Sun/Moon
@Seacliff umm.. your taste buds are not in your throat.... so you can't taste sour (or anything) in your throat....
Your taste buds are on your tongue and there for you would be left with a sour taste in your mouth.
Eh... really ? 7 Oct 2016 ?
I hope no more "Sticker Star 2".
Thousand Years Door looks way much better than Sticker Star.
Remember, Paper Mario is RPG based games.
Please, Nintendo. Don't removed the essential of RPG games.
So, wins every battle against foes have a purpose to gain Level, increase HP stats and Flower Points. Also, implemented abilities that really helpful during the gameplay. Stickers or Cards just only optional tools for just in case, not being a main abilities (kinda like FF VIII, all magic are stockable like items. When the Magic is empty, can't use that Magic anymore unless you restock again).
@Zach777 Besides Tokyo Mirrage Cessions... and Mario and Sonic... and Mighty No. 9... and Mincraft... and Terraria...
I mean, not everyone will get these games, but summer isn't dead.
@Adamario People need to stop with this mentality. There have now been more Paper Mario games unlike the original and TTYD. Those are gone. This IS Paper Mario.
OMG, yes! This game looks beautiful and fun. I'm currently playing Super Paper Mario, having a great time ^_^ I'm glad that this is suppose to release this year. I'll be looking forward to learning more from the Treehouse.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy Don't forget Monster Hunter!
@TsukiDeity Surely I'm not the only one who get's those strange aftertastes after eating something weird that isn't felt in the mouth but right above the throat area?
But I guess taste buds are still responsible either way...
...
You know what I meant. >.>
@NintenBo No, Super Paper Mario was still in that tradition. There's only been one released Paper Mario game that didn't even try to have a story or characters or worldbuilding or be anything like an actual RPG (though it's seeping into M&L too now). SPM is Paper Mario as an action RPG. And regardless of how long it's been, I'm allowed to be upset about my favorite game series being killed. If F-Zero was a rhythm game now, we'd be allowed to be upset about not getting a real F-Zero game just like we are now when there's just been no games with the F-Zero name.
THIS IS 90 DOLLARY DOOS ON AMAZON CANADA WHAT IS GOING ON?!!!!!!!!!!
Here's hoping Bowser can talk again.
@NintenBo Unfortunately, you're right, and I do not mean that as a personal insult, but a lament for a once great series. This IS Paper Mario... for worse and for worse.
Kinda glad they are showing it on the treehouse. Perhaps we can find out more about this game and clear up a few questions too
It's gonna be crap, innit.
@sonicmeerkat What's the exchange rate between the American dollar and the Canadian dollary-doo?
@-DEMISE- USD/CAD is at 1.28, so at that exchange rate, the price should be CAD 76 pre-tax...assuming the price is USD 60.
Probably I won't get it. Not because of quality (even though I'm one of the few that likes Sticker Star), but because console games cost like 75 dollars before tax.
I'm really tired of people wanting another TTYD.
No evidence of partners or FP. Cards appear to be reuse of sticker mechanic from Sticker Star. I hope they can somehow return to the glory days but this is looking more and more like an HD version of Sticker Star.
PM64 and espeially TTYD was ledgendary. Super was a nice remix and solid playing title with great story and gameplay even if a departure from tradition.
Sticker Star was a disappointment. I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic but will definitely be waiting for a review before I purchase this title.
I think that this game is going to polarize people and ultimately end up selling in underwhelming numbers on Wii U. However, I also expect that the entire Wii U line-up will be compatible with the NX so perhaps it will have a decent shot at making a profit over the long term.
@-DEMISE- It averages at $1.25-26 which does not equal $90.
